Hello!
The flash on the phone is the one before 8107, i cant remember it anymore, i sold it to someone. But now he contacted me and told me it does works on a secured WiFi network, but not on any open network. It still connects, but there is no actual data flow. Is it even possible?
What happened to the phone is i have downgraded it to 7004, used Chevron and updated till 7392 and then installed Hungarian language via root explorer, then kept updating till the one its on at this moment. I must had screw up something, but i have lost unlock, even tho i paid caution to prevent it. So i used windowbreak to re-unlock it. And that's it. What could be the reason? I'm really confused.
P.S: I also used some Samsung Tool or whatever i cant remember anymore to enable Internet Sharing option.
Hello please could someone help me?

Hello, I purchase a i5800 phone and the wifi worked fine on it for the first week. Now it says... "unable to scan". can some one tell me what that means... I turn the wifi on, scan for networks.. ( I have wireless here in my home .. in the middle of nowhere) and it will not scan for my home network.
I purchased the phone, unlocked for my At&t account. I have NO cell service in my area, but I want to access the downloades and etc for my phone at home..
any ideas..
I don't understand the "root" thing.. so please talk to me like I am lacking..
Yes I am in the USA... I have had the phone for 2 months and just figured out it is a UK phone. so I am doubly frustrated.
I tried Samsung USA they sent me to UK.. never heard back from them and it would NOT recognized my IEMI

Try flashing u're device to some other working firmware ..
Tht might solve your problem
You could just flash the US firmware for the device, that should solve atleast any of the location-specific issues.

you have to be roooted:
delete or rename(i suggest an extension change with the date) bcm_supp.conf in /data/wifi/
I suggest using root explorer, terminal is also an option.
warning, you will lose saved wifi networks/passwords.
you can open the file to retrieve some passwords.
if you have a titanium backup of system data i think you could restore it with that, not sure about it.

Hello all,
I tried searching the forum and google for this problem but haven't come across anything.
I really hope someone can help me out or I'm gonna have to buy a new phone.
I need to access the PhoneUtil menu by punching in *#7284# so I can continue with this procedure to enable AWS. But the menu is not coming up. I even restored the phone to factory settings but still no menu. USB debugging is enabled.
I followed this procedure when I first got the phone a few months ago and it worked. Now all of a sudden my phone only starts to detect Bell/Rogers network and not Mobilicity. So I'm guessing if I went through this process again it will work...but I can't get phoneUtil to pop up this time.
Any ideas?

Do you have an AT&T S4? And, if so, did you take the MF3 firmware update? Because if you do, and you did, you shouldn't have. The only thing you can do with a phone on MF3 is Root. No service menu, no Kies, No ODIN, and no going back.
If this is the case, there is a lot of information about it all throughout the General and Q&A sub forums and this information has been there for a while.
If it isn't the case, maybe you can give a little more information and someone can help you. Good luck.

did you install the phone util apk?
Yes I downloaded and installed phoneutil.apk from multiple sources many times, but the menu never shows. It's a Bell S4 not AT&T. Could I have installed the MF3 update even though its a Bell phone?
Not sure how to root but I can search. Will rooting it solve the problem?
If you need any other information let me know.

I had the same problem too I think it is becoz of the OTA update..which disables that USSD code...did u find any solution how to solve the issue? I really do not want to root the phone..thank u.
I spent a couple of days trying to find a solution for this, but I cannot. So I hope somebody can help.
My phone is rooted an unlocked. It was once a Sprint phone. I have my own MSL code.
Many forums advice that you enter ##DATA# and tweak
APN2LTE internet and APN2 EHRPD and write default, mms, dun.
The problem is that my DATA screen doesn't show APN2LTE internet and APN2 EHRPD
All I see is APN.
When I change the APN TYPE to default, mms, dun nothing happens on reboot.
Another popular advice is that you should edit the build.prop and add
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
But that fails too.
It's embarrassing that I have a rooted and unlocked phone, but I can not use my phone as a hotspot. I have tried a few apps as well. They fail.
The hotspot option never appears on my Settings.
Does anybody have a solution?

When you say unlocked are you saying that it has the U firmware installed? I believe the U firmware allows hotspot natively.
U firmware
Thank you for replying come up but I do not know what U firmware is. I assume it's a generic firmware for the S7.
My phone was a Sprint phone. It has the model number SM-G935P.
I had a professional root and unlock it. It had the hotspot feature available and I used it. However, about a month later, the phone got into a boot loop, so I had to wipe the phone and restore it. In the process of doing that, the phone lost rooting (but it remained unlocked). I restored the root myself, but was unable to restore the hotspot feature.
I would rather not install another firmware. I am in Africa, and downloading two gigabytes is a real pain. Moreover, I'm worried that it won't work on my S7. Since my phone is rooted and unlocked, it seems that it should not be that hard to make the hotspot feature available, especially since it was available earlier with the same firmware that I used to have. Ideas?

Well if you don't want to go with downloading the firmware then the easiest would be using the app FoxFi. But I believe that if you download and flash the U firmware that it will stay, even after a factory reset. But it's up to you.
Foxfi
Thank you for your advice. I tried the foxfi app and it did not work. Although I could see the network that it creates and apparently connect to it, it would not issue an IP address. So ultimately my other devices could not connect at all.
I really don't want to install a new firmware. I'm worried that it will brick the phone. Are you sure that is compatible with my model of the S7? Where would I obtain the U firmware?
I'm just surprised and a bit stunned that there's not a relatively easy way to reveal the hotspot feature when the phone is rooted and unlocked. I would think that with all the bright developers on this forum, there would be a straightforward solution.
I appreciate your help.

As long as you have the US's Sprint Galaxy with the snapdragon processor then you can flash the U firmware with no problem. Look in the Sprint section for directions, you'll even get updates directly from Samsung and not Sprint anymore. And I know there is a way for Verizon when rooted to get hotspot to work but not sure if it would be the same for Sprint. If that's what you're going for then check the Sprint forums for that as well.
According to this....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/help/bloat-free-firmware-930u-tried-t3428974
It only qorks with 930 models. Mine is SM-G935P.
That same thread says " You cannot root this firmware with the Sprint model. "
So I'm still stuck.
I just don't understand why there isn't a simple way to turn on this feature when the phone is rooted.

Are you sure it's rooted? You said you did a factory reset, so unless you rooted it again then you have lost root. And you were looking at the wrong forum, you need to look on the Sprint S7 Edge forum (S7 is the G930 and S7 Edge is the G935) for what you need to do.
you are right. When I reset it, I lost the root. It remained unlocked, for some reason.
However, I was able to root it again by myself. The only thing that I lost was the hotspot.
I'll try another forum here. Thanks!
Hi all,
I'm having the infamous "not registered to network" problem in a SM-G935FD so I installed a rooted ROM (King) and other rooted stock ROMs without luck, still not network.
I'm trying to use the Ariza Patch but says the phone is not rooted... bur in fact the phone is rooted and verified.
Maybe I have an old Ariza version ? Where can I get the newer ?
Some ideas to test and fix the network problem ?
IMEI seems to be clean and OK... not blacklisted, APN is in place OK... I can see the networks fine, but can't connect.
I can assure the phone works... I bought the phone with Android 6 working fine. the problem appeared after update to Android 7... seems the phone was patched, but I don't know what...
Thanks....!!!
Javier.
I have the same problem, were you able to resolve yours?
I've same problem, i've got signal, full, but emergancy call only. Ariza patch solve your problem dude?
Same problem here.
I'm having the same problem guys..did anyone find a fix for ariza or the s7 not registering on network after imei change?
