[Q] [Help]HS2 Wont start after new LCD - HD2 General

Hello all.
I have a HD2 that I havent done anything with, exept getting and installing some small programs.
No new ROM, no attempt to install W7, its more or like a Virgin.
However I made a fool of me, and managed to damage the LCD and finally got it changed. Got the Phone back from the company (MBlue Ltd in UK), and tried to start it up. But No....
Pressing ON, the phone vibrates, gives some light in the screen, sort of like you see its ON its a "white glow", but you dont get any more. The Jingle comes on, theres light in my buttons at the low end of phone, and NOTHING more.
I have had it on for long time, but nothing....
When I finally sendt the phone away, the battery was discharged, but as I have a new battery I put that in, and it charges and all.
Ive studied this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=638210
But as I CAN charge I fell that Im somewhat related but not fully in the same situation as the Original Poster there.
# Could it be that my phone somewhat has gotten overheated or anything else?
# Is the only and best solution to send it to HTC and let them look on it?
Ive tried to HARD and SOFT reset, but still nothing.
[EDIT] Connecting the phone to my PC, It is recognised and its recognised as a HD2 T8585
Looking more and reading more on the Forum I suspect theres a problem in the connection between the "fx-card" and the screen. (stupid way of saying it though)
Glad for any input here. Thanks in advance.

Does your computer synchronize with your phone(connecting to activesync/mobile device center)? Then it is booted in Windows Mobile, the possibility is that the screen is broken then.

I thought the Screen might not be properly connected, or broken yes.
I better get in contact with the repair company.
But if other too have opininons, please bring em on... ;-)

Returned to repairplace, they fixed it.
My best guess is thy didnt check their own repair so they had to connect/fix something.

Good point, they're responsible for their repair: it is better this way because it's possible they damaged something while repairing and that part, if needs replacement, it should be their obligation, not yours!

XDA II Coma like state

Right guys and girls, this "coma" stuff is driving me MAD!!!!!!!!!
okie the latest example is last night i put the XDA on charge not in the cradle as usual as i was not at home, but that seems to make no difference, anyhow i turn the screen off by pushing the power button (top left) yellow light turns on and begins to charge, next morning i pick up the device to use it and nothing.....not a sausage, dead as a doe-doe.
Im not able to power it on, im not able to "wake it up" with a call to it, buttons do not work at all, screen is dead, the yellow light stays on even when charger not connected, however it turns of several hours later.
Ok at this point in the past the only way to fix this was to hard-reset it, which is a royal pain in the arse as you all know, and lost all my info i worked on, on that last trip.
Except this time, it really is dead, Hard-reset dont work, removing the main battery and letter the internal one take the hit dont work, verious combos of reset, hard-reset, with and without battery. nothing
nope, this time it seems totally screwed, anyone have any ideas
O2 is going to get an angery phone call, as soon as there tech support peeps goes back to work after the weekend, they said originally it was just a glitch and i was to update my software (rom). Some damn glitch!
Anyhow in a bid to remain slightly more sain than i will be i was hoping that some of you guys have had a problem like this or even better know how to fix it
How you can help
Regards
Darren

well maybe your phone is just broken
being angry at o2 will not help anything they dont make the hardware they dont make the software they just sell the device
Hum, intresting, before i start, O2 is to blame, in the world of retail and more importantly sales contracts, they are my first and direct point of call, in law, when i give them cash and they except it, they are entering in a contract which sticks them in the position to be blamed, however it is not about blame, its about getting somthing done about it, and they are the people who pull the stings, i do understand that they do not make these devices but thats not the point.
16 year old kids may be a bit put out when there phone stops working, however those who need there phone / PDA to work have more issues when things go wrong.
Whats more intresting is that 1 hour ago, the phone unexpectedly turned on by its self, although not surprisingly, all the data was lost. It seems to of woke its self up when the last remaints of power in the internal battery was about to die, to tell me this information.
Whilest i cant conferm this, if the others who have had this problem before
were to leave the phone off the charger for the battery to die, without trying the usual hard reset, i would expect it to wake up to tell you its about to die and then at this point plug the charger back in and hay presto!
well i'm not saying that you cant sue or demand your money back or place the blame on o2 i'm just saying that you cant expect then to solve your problem apart from reporting the issue to thc who again can blame it on microsoft
dazza8082,
What ROM version do you have on your machine?
I had the same problem with my MDA2 which came with ROM version 1.60 or something like that, but I managed to upgrade my MDA2 to 1.72WWE that I found somewhere in this forums and the problem was solved ever since. I even had lots of sudden SD memory wipes, so far so good... It's been like 4 or 5 months since the upgrade and counting...
The upgrade procedure was performed via the cradle and not via the SD card. But if for some reason you can't manage to boot your device you can always try the SD upgrade method.
I really don't remember the procedure but you can find lots of information somewhere in this forums.
Have you tried to get into Boot mode and then reset the device just to see what happens?
Press the Power button, the reset button and the joypad down at the same time and you should see a DOS-like screen indicating you are in boot mode, from there just press the reset button by itself and see if that helps. You will loose all your data with this procedure, but at this point chances are that you already lost everything in the device anyways.
Best of luck!

no power up

Hey guys, I bought an 8525 on ebay today with the following problems:
* Fail Test Call
* Bad LCD
The seller wrote "The phone Powers Up in that the light in the Upper Right Corner lights up but nothing appears on the LCD screen so I have no idea if the LCD is Good or Bad."
Do either of these issues seem like anything any of you have encountered/overcome? I'm more worried about the LCD think than the failed test call because I'm pretty sure flashing a new rom/radio will fix that issue assuming it is an issue at all. All help will be appreciated, thanks guys.
nobody? come on guys i have looked through these forums and haven't found any solutions... any ideas at all would be helpful. thanks..

Did you try powering up by soft-resetting? My phone failed on me, only once (to date), where the normal power-cycle button didn't work. Using the stylus in the reset-hole turned it on, and I then hard-reset and restored from a backup, and everything was fine again.
To see how much of the device is working, why not hook up to ActiveSync and see if anything other than the LED is working? If so, using some remote control SW (if you can install on the device) might let you test some of the functionality. MS Remote Console Display only requires a single executable file on the device (which you could place there with AS), but I don't know how you'll get past the initial startup and setup clicks.
It sounds to me like you might have bought a device that could be more suited to parts farming, if you're not up to opening it up and doing some micro-surgery. I wouldn't gamble on the test call being fixable with a radio rom flash, but heck, it's worth a shot. But then again, I might just be being pessimistic.
Good luck in your endeavor,
-pvs
PS: You might want to have a look at this thread. Sounds like it might be a similar issue, although it has not led to a successful repair. :-(
thanks for the response! i hope that the reset button is the solution to my problems...wouldnt that be great? i'm not opposed to opening the phone up (i assumed i would have to) so if that doesn't work i will open it and make sure all of the ribbons are in correctly...not sure what else to do...thanks for all your advice though i'll be sure to follow your steps as soon as i get the device (hopefully by saturday).
i'll keep this post updated.
ok so i said i would keep this post updated (though i don't think anyone read it to begin with) so here's the update. I got the phone in the mail yesterday and it turns out that it does not turn on at all. When I plug it into the computer I get the red light (indicating no battery) but none of the fixes seem to work. I thought it would be a firmware thing but i'm now guessing that its a hardware issue, meaning i dont know where to begin. Unfortunately it looks as though its going right back on ebay...
tsk i upgraded the radio version after i fixed my phone to work invariably better from when i got it. i was so happy it was stable. i plug it in my usb and happily transferring files. i leave it and i come back decide to see what the fuss about the radio is so i decided to upgrade to the file HERM_Radinly_1.43.00 ... after successfully loading, not for long about 5 more mins plugged poof! disconnect sound. lcd faded. phone fried no red light when plugged. have two batteries so it's not the batteries. not the connections either. nothing. dead. tsk... and i was so excited.

[Q] How do I short-circuit a HD2?

My HD2 with Clean Desire bricked through normal usage (calling, txt, 3G, etc...) a while ago. I looked far and wide throughout the internet in hopes of finding an answer. Apparently, my phone short-circuited, resulting in it turning into a sexy-looking brick. The solution was to re-short-circuit it and it will turn on like magic. Problem is, I don't know HOW to short-circuit ANYTHING. Could someone give me some advice?

I don't know where or who told you that you had to short circuit your HD2 to unbrick it bit that will not unbrick a HD2. I do know what you are talking about as I just had to look it up today as someone asked me a question about a Samsung Vibrant. With some Samsung devices you can use what is call a test JIG and plug it into the USB of the device and force it to boot into recovery/download mode and then you can flash a ROM back to it via ODIN. This is a fairly new technology for mobile devices.
But HTC phone can not do this you still have to do it the old fashion way and use a JTAG, Riffbox, and a adaptor to unbrick the device. This requires taking the main board completely out of the device to hook the JTAG to it. You then connect the JTAG to the Riffbox and the Riffbox to your computer then you resorrectcthe SPL and put the device back together.
Sorry but this is the only way to bring a bricked HD2 back from the beyond

lolololololololol....
You'll never believe this...
I tried doing everything (except short-circuiting) and almost gave up. My parents came over my house yesterday and my dad had a look at it. He then literally bent the phone (not to the point where it damaged or reshaped anything) and...
...IT TURNED ON!!!
Once again, I wouldn't blame you guys for not believing me, but it worked. So if your HD2 is damaged to the point where there's nothing else you can do, just try bending it
(Actually, don't try this. I'm not held liable if your paperweight snaps in half.)

Phone stuck on USB/charging... very weird

Hey there. I have my Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) for about a month, and since a couple of days ago it has been behaving very weirdly about USB and charging.
First of all, the phone thinks it has USB connected at all times. When I go to the settings menu try to enable mass storage it says USB is already connected, even though it isn't!!!
Sometimes when I start the phone it goes to that USB Kies screen and says "connected", when absolutaly no cables are connected AT ALL!!!
When I turn the cell off, remove the battery and plug it back in, without turning the phone on, the recharging battery icon appears, but blinks with a drained battery icon with a yellow exclamation sign and a thermometer which I sincerely have no idea what that means.
It also takes ages to recognize the power charger or when I really connect the USB cable. And finally, when I take them off, it also takes a while to "perceive" they're off and remove the charging lightning from the battery icons.
PRETTY PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME OUT, as I don't have time to take the phone to service, and didn't really want to do that
Thanks!!!
This has also happened to me and loads of other SGS2 users! Although usually it only happens sporadically and not constantly. It seems that it's a bad soldering job or dust/dirt has gathered in the microUSB port. You might be able to fix it, if you're *really* careful.

Last night my phone wouldn't even start charging, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. With the smallest screwdriver I could find, I carefully 'lifted' the tiny PCB in the USB jack while blowing in at the same time. Sure enough, some sand particles fell out, and I haven't gotten carmode'd in nearly 13 hours now. Previously it would do it once every 15 minutes. So far so good, it seems.

Thanks for the help... but what is PCB? Is it the connector inside the "hole"?
Tried that and it stopped thinking USB was connected the whole time... on the other hand, it doesn't detect when I connect the USB cable
Lets try keeping 1 thread

You can't talk on plural when you only point out one thread. And I've read that, but it isn't the same as my phone doesn't go in "car mode".
My phone's problem only resembled a problem JaX3RiR briefly mentioned in the middle of the thread.
I tried googling it before posting anything anywhere, but couldn't find anything useful.
Please don't try to look like a smartass like that and embarrass yourself. If you got nothing to add to the thread, it's best if you sit out of it. It's much more appreciated when helpful people like JaX3RiR post...
Hi,had the same problem, tried reflashing back to original firmware, but still had the same problem,,the only way i could boot the phone was through recovery mode,(reboot)Had to send phone back for possible repair??cut a long story short they sent me a new phone,,They said they couldnt repair the fault, something to do with the usb charging system,,So i would advise anyone with this specific problem,to send phone back, and get a replacement..hope you get it solved
Thanks mate, I sent mine today as well... I hope they act the same with me, as I'm afraid customer service around here always tries to incriminate the user not to use the warranty...

There is no reason to be angry, I'm just trying to help, and just wanted that we all post in one thread, so it would be easier to track later.
I just posted longest thread. Here is another one if it helps to justify:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151863
I'm pretty sure you have the same problem. Sometimes Vlingo starts, sometimes phone thinks its charging, when trying to boot it shows battery image and won't boot, can boot only recovery and do restart from there.
Get of the high horse when people are trying to help you.
Are you sure you didn't connect USB cable upside down or bended USB port with the cable?
I have no idea what Vlingo is, and obviously I didn't connect the USB cable upside down. I don't think I bended the port with the cable since it still recognizes the cable for charging or booting and going directly into Kies mode, for example.
I am not on any high horse when people try to help me, as you could see my response towards the guys above. Your post wasn't sounding helpful at all, you were just sounding like "hey, you dumass noobie, don't open a new thread for yourself, check the forums first".
By the way, I also took a look at that thread you posted before posting mine, but I have no idea what is "car mode" on my phone...
Sorry if I sounded rough. I thought it is similar issue, so I posted link to longer thread. I had this issue myself.
Peace. Let us know what the service say .
This happened to me one week ago while on holiday....that temp indicator while charging plus the other stuff you mention....
Plus the phone went into flight mode and won't come out....
Got home and did a reset and phone now doesn't recognise sim card...
great phone but I'm a little disappointed

Hello,
Had the same problems aswell, only mine had a bunch of other problems aswell:
When I shut down my mobile it restarts itself and then shows a yellow exclamation mark with an tempgage. Only way to turn on my phone is to connect it with the charger, turn of my phone again, remove the charger and then the phone turned itself on again but without the temp gage.
My phone also thinks its charging when it is not, and when I am actually charging it, its not charging.
Also my PC does not recognize my phone so I am not able to update it.
I have also sent my phone for a repair, I will keep you guys posted.
greets from the netherlands
Yep, mine only got fixed by going into service. It got its mainboard warranty switched.
T- Mobile sent me a replacement phone
They seemed to know the symptoms when I explained what was happening
Same fault for me. Mainboard replaced, works fine now.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
How did you guys get it fixed? Did you have to ship the phone out somewhere? How long did you have to wait to get it back? What was the process?
Thanks.
Mine is going to be repaired in two weeks.
I was the 8th SGS2 since tuesday which came in the repair center.
The repair guy said it is a manifacturing fault.
The phone gets hots, and outside temperature is cold, so it makes moisture in the phone.
This cause the phones power management to get fu up (SGS2 has a small battery inside of it, and that gets fu up). Only fix is replace hardware, but 9 of 10 times Samsung gives the fault to the customer. They say it has water damage and can't be fixed in warrenty...
I'm going to write a huge article about it, and I hope it will get published by a lot of site's soon. Phones he admitted having the problem: SGS1, SGS2 and SGSN.
I charged my GS2 2x by USB and it's discharged faster than by the sector
The USB power isn't enough for charge up the GS2 correctly
Are you guys suffering from rapid battery discharging, i have all of the above symptons but my battery drains within hours...I`ve even bought a brand new battery off ebay that is exacly the same issues... I`d like to send it back to O2 but i`ve rooted and flashed custom firmware...

problem with optimus 7 device. would appreciate the help

Hey,
So here`s my problem.
2 days ago my phone just switched off, no warning, no nothing, and won`t switch on ever since.
I already looked around for people that may have the same problem, but every thread talks about the device that won`t go pass the logo screen. It is not my case. My phone doesen`t even show the logo screen, nothing. You can press the power button for as long as you want, it just won`t start. At occasions, it starts up by itself, only for a minute or two and then turns off again.
At first i thought it may be a software problem, so I`ve cold started it and reset it but it didn`t make any difference.
After, I`ve thought... maybe a battery issue, so I`ve talked with a pal that has the same device, switched batteries. Apparently his phone started with my battery just fine, but mine didn`t work with his either.
Does anyone have a clue about what`s happening?.. If yes, please do share. As much as I like having a phone with a mind of it`s own.. it`s just not dependable XD
Thanks
Probably just broken / defective - if under warranty go and ask for repair or replacement (money back probably). If not under warranty sell as broken or throw to the bin - not to worth repair in my opinion.
I spend the same thing to my myself, LG stinks.
Sent from my HTC ONE V using xda app-developers app
Thanks for answering.
Yes, it was a problem with the motherboard.. got it fixed on warranty. Now I barely use the phone, of fear that it will break againXD. Looking forward to selling it while it`s still functional.

I've got mine just back from repair (second time). It use to randomly reboot, now I hope it got repaired ("faulty electronic components have been replaced" - but I don't know what exactly). What I realize is MAC address change. But as they changed firmware from 1.1.8.10 to 1.0.16.10, I wonder if that's why it has new MAC? Does new MAC address means that some component was replaced ? IMEI does not change.
