Some say that from 29-34 you can unlock (50-50% it will work ok) but after 34 they say you can throw your phone to trash can if you try.

"-testpoint altbypass method will work now for msm7227-based phones,which using MCUs with fixed security bug.
that means, resurrection cables will work for MCUs with fixed security bug.
- fixed problem with FOTA upgrade for msm8x55-based phones, unlocked by altbypass"
this is what the_laser said...
so it is possible to unlcok our x8 by using testpoint method...
it's just that, nobody hasn't tried it yet..
i want to try it but i don't know where to find the testpoint of our x8..
anyways, i'm still searching how it is really done..

That's the well-kept secret...
I worked out that it's a simple UART TX/RX connection, but the question remains unanswered about which testpoints need to be used. The only hint I found so far was in the changelog of Omnius where they walk about "Testpoint pictures updated".
In short, all we need are either the testpoint pictures or a detailed description to where we need to wiretap.

exactly...this method has been tested for the 2011 devices like Neo, Arc,etc, and that the testpoint for those phones has also been located...
to all devs out there, do you know where the testpoint of our x8 is?..we would be glad to share it with us...and i would be willing to try this method..

found the picture of the testpoint
but still i dont know which one...the labels are not clear..

Could that be the "SEPORT Testmatrix"?
EDIT: YES, IT IS!
In the Schematics Manual...
On the SECONDARY SIDE page (page 3) the area in question is labeled as TP2300
On page 11, left side - 8 Pins - that's TP2300
Here you have the pinout out of the Manual:
AUDIO1 ------- (1) ----> FML
AUDIO2 ------- (2) ----> AUX_OUT
ON ----------- (3) ----> ON_MPP3-4
HW_SERVICE --- (4) ----> WE2_N_R <-- Taps into a line of the NAND circuit (p8, bottom left, EBI2_WE_N)
SW_SERVICE --- (5) ----> SOFT_SERVICE <-- Connects to M3/MPP13 of PM7540 (Audio)
DTMS --------- (6) ----> UIM1_M_RESET <-- Connects to P2_IO-devices (I2C Bus there)
DFMS --------- (7) ----> UIM1_M_DATA <-- Connects to P2_IO-devices (I2C Bus there)
GND ---------- (8) ----> GND <-- Connects to common ground
EDIT 2: Need to have a second look into the Schematics Manual later the day to track down to where the pins starting with pin 4 go to ... Pin 1 through 3 don't seem to be of greater interest at all, Pin 4+ (as documented in the picture) seem to be the highly interesting ones.
If you need the Manual, it's in my "Service Manuals" folder on MediaFire.
does 10 and 11 indicate years like 2010 and 2011 ?? cause mine is 10w45

Yes ... you need to read the code like this
<year>W<week>
The first two numbers are the last two digits of the year.
10 --> 2010
11 --> 2011
12 --> 2012
The "W" means "Week"
The last two numbers are the week of the year ... so something between 01 and 52

I have a Vodafone card with EDGE on it....
Okay, this happens mostly when I am using Custom ROMs.
For example if my Data Network is ON and if someone calls me and if I pick up the call then I am unable to pick it up....
No matter how many times I slide the accept button it won't accept.
And then in the next 2 minutes I am unable to make calls or use Data Network or send SMSes...
And while in those 2 minutes if someone calls me then he gets "The Vodafone number you have dialed is out of coverage area".
Just to mention more, when someone calls me while Data Network is ON and if the call does not get accepted (which happens 90% of the times) I can see my network signal full but actually there isn't any, or something like that....
And after 2 minutes it reconnects to the network....

NOTE : Mostly Vodafone users will be experiencing this problem....
NOTE : It will take at least 24 hours for the network to get stable after flashing this.
please use the fix below.
1. Download this ---> I5801DDJP6 only modem.bin
Note : if you already have I501DDJP6 then make a back up copy of it and delete all files in it except "modem.bin" using Total Commander and follow the steps below.
2. Open Odin Multi Downloader (Apollo).
3. Select OPS File, Tick one package and select the downloaded file (I5801DDJP6 only modem.bin) as the one package.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Now put phone in download mode, connect USB and then flash it.....
NOTE : You can also try flashing a "modem.bin" of any other stock firmware but since I5801DDJP6 is the latest one in India I decided to use this.
Some stock "modem.bin"s may not work with custom firmwares or they may work. Depends.
Make sure to try them out.
I used this on Kyorarom v0.5 and its working fine now
I have tried this on kyrillos Rom v9.0.. Now under observation, will give u the feedback soon.. Hope this works..
And what about the battery bug? I have these 2 (network,battery) bugs .. i ll look for the network with the modem.bin but by the battery bug : the battery IS okay.. tried many other batteries, i just want to know why it can't survive longer than 5 minutes when i unplug it from charge.. any solutions? If you are saying you are pretty much sure that the battery is not damaged then,
You might wanna check which app of yours is using so much battery of yours.
I have got a network problems in my home!! Else its fine!!
i strongly believe its a modem.bin issue!!
lets see!! I am trying it!!
EDIT: Flashed it!!
First observation is: network signal is same as it was before. only thing is Edge (E) signal is static now. previously it changed to 3g and H. But H was the fastest, and E was the slowest!
Lets see how will it fare now!
Yeah but the thing is - im not using the phone it shuts down when i once use it for 2 minutes. So i can only use it if its on the charger like at the moment. I want to say its not because of an app.. cuz i obly have facebook and the xda app installed.. any ideas?

You need a new Battery.
Maybe there is new stock at flipcart.
2nd review: battery is much better.
Internet is much faster.
E is not static. Range is still the same but its normal in this area

Thanks once again [email protected], though it's too early to say, but I believe to have finally got ridden of that annoying problem.
By the way, is it fine if one just removes modem.bin from the .tar of any rom and then flash it? Because by doing that one doesn't needs to repeat the whole process again and again!
not a big deal to flash modem.bin for every update.. gossshhhh finally got rid of this problem, now we can flash any ported rom.. @h4r5h why do u go for removing this file from tars, dont risk ur phone .. just simply flash this modem.bin after u flash with ur desired custom rom..

All I wanted to know was whether it is possible or not? Maybe some dev would be able to answer it better?

You can use Total Commander to replace the files in the ".tar"....
I don't think that would cause any problems...
Except there could be a possibility of dependencies (if any there) being tampered...
Is this modem.bin the same as DDJP2?
Q for Devs
It is a way or an aplication and if no exist can you create one to see the botloader version right on the phone?
in about phone with the rest of information about our phone?????
i ask you that becouse on my thread i met a lot of people wich they dont know in what world they live
they dont know to do a search(maybe even me)
they dont know nothig about that phone but flash roms with CWM or with RSDlite without any knowlege
not even elementary one
maybe they are to busy to read carefuly before start any action on that phone
i know like that people will met forever here and everywere
but i repet can you do that?
hope this is a good question for you not a stupid one
thanks for all your work
Ps. i dont pray anymore for moderators becouse they are BAD:laugh:

i find this tool DefyBL_See and root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29642549&postcount=11
with this tool you can root, se what bl version have your phone and can instal 2ndinit-botmenu 3 in 1
pray for moderator?
god, i thought our moderator is dying in hospital or something..
let me clear this up.
you want an application to show what bootloader version is on device?
normally, we depack the sbf, and use some tool to check BL version on CGXX.SMG files..
if there's an app for that on current device running, it would be a great tool.
since BL upgrade cannot be irreversible.

yes i want an aplication wich show on the device what bl version it have
and including that information in "about the phone" like a system one
well its possible
wat u can do is tell the app to getprop and check the rom version(3.4.1-114) and accordingly say the bl version
but this will only work on stock rom... on custom rom the rom version cannot be useful...
I dont think u can dumb bl and check it... if the signature version is stored sumwhere in the fone? if it is itll be easier

If they manage to get a custom ROM then they might already know the BL version
So the getprop idea will work fine since only stock users need the app.

Not looking for any fancy one click all. Just a method to obtain uid 0. I can handle adb, I have a functioning toolchain and a sys admin level knowledge of Linux. Unfortunately I haven't had any success yet getting root.
My laziness and frustration has won over my cheapness. To that effect I would like to offer a 0.3 BTC bounty for a method to obtain root on this swanky device.
Update: Bounty paid. Received functioning method. Unfortunately I've been asked to not release it which I am happy to comply. Thanks!

I'll believe it when I see it. The kallsyms dump is pretty convincing but isn't absolute proof. I'll continue beating my firetv up in the meantime I guess. If i root mine first, I'll send myself the BTC.
On that note any one know why adb shell has an LD_PRELOAD library called libnimswrap.. looks like it touches a few interesting calls.
Root and recovery would be good. I got like 28 days left before I can return my FireTV. Hopefully this will be done before then.
If someone have a spare device to donate (France) I'm willing to spent some time on it. I did a few cool things on the fire hdx 7" and could probably do some on this device. I think this device could be great if we get a stock ROM running !

That is of no use to me or others who are looking/needing a priv esclation method for this device until its released. In the meantime I will continue down my path. If I get it before he releases I plan to do full disclosure. Hope I don't burn his exploits.

Personally I don't care if anyone believes me or not, any looking back at the history of Android exploits will likely see my work more often than not, especially with the Amazon FireOS. When appropriate, I will release.
Bonus tease for everyone else, modified recovery booting (just edited /res/ images to test booting unsigned code)

Why not join me in the process, instead of racing against? I'm looking to find less valuable bugs to use, instead of the more dangerous ones I am currently using. Feel free to ping me on freenode or gtalk.
Full disclosure, is something I do often, I believe I have accounted for the majority of open source android exploits. I really appreciate it when ppl explain what they are doing, love seeing the work of others, and love not having to reverse it.

Current issues with releasing my work right now:
1) No way to interact with a custom recovery (possibly doable with keyboard) and no way to load files to flash without booting into android (possible to mount usb disk in recovery mode?).
2) Looking for a bug to exploit that is less abusable by others
#1 Someone more versed at recoveries is lookign at
#2 I'm working on currently.

From what im reading the only recovery that would would work on this device would be cwm because twrp is fully touch. Right @jcase

It's overriding the following symbols:
bind
connect
getaddrinfo
so tampering with network somehow.. if no one knows what it does I'll spend some time reading the disasm and figure out.. first guess is intercepting connections to some address, possibly redirecting elsewhere?

ok.. yeah, short version it looks like it is blocking some network connections. For example, the overridden connect() seems to open up a (I think local) socket connection (cached per thread), does some communication on that socket, then based on result fakes an error result (setting errno) or forwards the call to the real connect.
seems to be controlled by:
Code:
v0 = isFeatureEnabled(1);
v1 = isFeatureEnabled(3);
v2 = isFeatureEnabled(4);
not sure what those feature constants correspond to.. googling for isFeatureEnabled() just digs up some java crap..
First thing is first.
You must have an unlocked bootloader and a rooted device.
If you are S-ON and you don't like bloatware you must do it from RECOVERY [custom recovery of course]
Boot your device into recovery mode [TWRP]
Click on : Mount / Check the square where it says System [so mount system]
Click back
Click Advanced / then click File Manager
Scroll until you see : system
Click on system / then click app
Now, from there you delete all the apps you want, including the odex files.
After you deleted the apps you want click on (Up A Level)
Then scroll to priv-app
From there delete also all the apps you can find and want to delete and you didn't find in system/app
After you did that click again on (Up A Level) and again on (Up A Level)
There click on data / app [click data, and then click app]
There you will find the apps you deleted and their updates, so delete those too.
After you done all that you can reboot the device. Unless you do all these steps the apps you delete will show up again in your app drawer, so do this and the apps will stay deleted.
Enjoy the free space on your device.
Or just delete them inside the OS with es file explorer and soft reboot the phone.

Don't know what your problem is in your answering. It works perfectly fine. And i tried a lot. I pretty much know how android works and have experience.

You probably still have HTC's write protection on whatever rom u are using, maybe that's why Mr Hof's method isnt working for you. I use Root explorer to do the same as Mr Hof's does and it works 100%.
In the long run its better to maybe fork out a small amount of cash and go s off so lenghty and convoluted processes such as this can be avoided

The only thing I have is S-ON. That's it. Write protection is off, trust me, my apps can read/write the external sdcard, or anything else in the device for that matter.
Do not give me lessons, I am waiting for the V3 of sunshine.
I use stock ROM 4.4.4 and sunshine cannot S-OFF the device right now.

Lots of people used system app remover, even the pro version, and after reboot the apps were back in the app drawer.
So there is no trouble deleting them via TWRP.

It probably wouldn't be the smartest idea in the world, no. Why would you need a toolkit anyway? They're nothing but trouble, cause problems, and prevent you from learning anything. These devices are super easy to work with anyway, take the time to do things manually, it's pretty easy if you follow a good guide.

I get that using a command prompt is super easy and I'm not a stranger to using windows commands either (i know just enough about computers to get me in trouble haha) but for some reason I can't get the drivers installed properly. It's a very odd situation. After installing I'll run the command prompt in the folder where the drivers are located plug in my phone and type the command "adb devices" as well as "fastboot devices" and I get nothing everytime. Oddly enough when I use a toolkit I am able to root and unlock my device (my original Oneplus One) as well as flash a custom recovery. I know I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure out what it is. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but no luck. Any help with this situation would be appreciated as my new Oneplus 2 is arriving soon with the Chinese ROM and I definitely don't want to have to use it until a new toolkit comes out.

It works just like any other 4G supported dual sim nothing fancy. So you can't simultaneously get 4G but it's possible to get 4G on both the Sims but not at the same time like your S5 dual.
And as for call recording, I'll let you know when i try it on my friend's device. I forgot to ask him that when I net him the last time.
