Not sure what the issue is but all the roms I flashed recently. Im having alot of forcecloses takes forever for my contacts to show up my messages take for ever to send is it the roms im using or phone issues?
Been using shooter express and few other 3.5 roms
Hey,
did you partition your sd card? those roms are HUGE and leave you with little memory so you need to make sure your SD card is partitioned to handle the load. With that being said, make sure you are wiping data, Cache, and dalvik Cache before AND AFTER flashing that helps a lot
In your case I would just reflash the rom and try again! make sure you have enough internal memory to handle it, or you will get fc's with low memory! and oh yeah partition your SD card!
I hope I helped If I did please hit the thanks button!
Stevo
Thanks I have partition my sdcard but i have flashed a ton of roms but i will check it out thanks alot

well i have app-privaate and apps in the sd card.. but when i install apps, internal memory still goes down.. after somesearching i found out that dalvik-cache and data folders also take up space when istalling apps.. will it be ok if i also move these into the sdcard?
You should use the new apps to sd script. Its way better. But if you don't want to then you can move the dalvik cache but donlt move the data. It'll make your system really unstable.
ohh ok thank youu
after i do that, is it safe to flash a theme on
and i heard the new apps to sd didnt work on haykuros 6.0r1
is that true?
How are you currently doing the apps to sd? are you using the symlinks? If so dalvik-cache should be fine. You can try the data as well but you might have to undo it if things start acting up.
yes i used symlinks.. i transfered apps, app-private, and dalvik cache.. im not transfering data.. ill keep it like this.. its running well thanks guys
i have one question tho.. will everything be fine if i flash a theme on it? the aero one for 6.0r1
ok so i did the command in the shell and i got /system/sd/apps which is good.
However everytime i install a app my internal memory decreases... My exact process is Wipe Factory wipe cache wipe ext partion... Then i create partion and convert 2 to 3.. I then flash 2.0d ..install a app ..internal memory decreases....WTF!
You shouldn't have converted the ext2 partition to ext3, as ext3 is a journaling FS.
Anyway, the internal storage is still used for /data/dalvik-cache, /data/data, and others. Only /data/app and /data/app-private are moved onto the SD card. It's normal for internal storage to go down after installing apps with Apps2SD.
i just installed sprint nav and went from 101mb to 93...thats right? Avaliabe space doesnt decrease at all!!
And i read on geekfor.me that your suppose to convert 2 to 3
I had to flash darktremors app2sd 2.5 for mine to work properly

+1 Danokan
also Mickdubs, .... ext 3 is more stable than ext 2 (less probability of lose of data) so you actually did do the right thing by converting it
is there any where in the process were im going wrong.
im using a a data class 6 turbo seris...8gb....
This is bothering me i already wiped twice now ..and im installing back all my apps and losing space..down to 50 mb right now
Did you do the test to make sure your a2sd is enabled properly?
http://geekfor.me/faq/apps2sd/
thats what my first post said!!
it says its working

your a2sd is working but installing a2sd 2.5 is the only way you will not see significant memory drop on your phone. everything except cache will be stored on your sd by flashing this zip
trust me, I went through the same thing as you til I read up and found this fix
so just flash as zip and be on the way..i apperciate all these quick replys ..xda comminity is strong!

yes, flash through recovery but as always...do a Nandroid backup 1st. let us know how it goes
ok flashed and THANK YOU.... avaliable space is at 141mb... your d man
searched around and can't really find right answers.
I currently have HD2 with 512mb running android. Due to the lack of internal storage space, all apps are stored in the EXT4 on the SD card. This is a very neat function actually. Every time I flash a rom, all the apps will still be there.
I am about to get the DHD soon and since it's got plenty internal storage I guess it's natural to install app on internal rather than on SD (i know some rom do have support for EXT on SD). My question is, is there a way to partition the internal storage so part of it act as EXT, this way every time flashing a rom I don't have to restore all the apps??
If there is another way to achieve this, please let me know as well.
thanks,
No need to do anything like that. Before you flash a new ROM just wipe all the partitions apart from the data partition. Once you have flashed the ROM your apps will still be there.
You can use an add on script for apps to SD as well if you prefer.

Good to know that there will be no problem re-installing apps. Since I can't get hands dirty with an actual unit yet, could you please explain a little on the "wiping all the partitions apart from data partition". So by default, apps will be installed in a separate partition? what do you use to WIPE paritions? Clockwork or wipe-all?
Go into clockwork recovery you can select which partitions to wipe. Go into the mounts part and you can wipe them individually, wipe each one in turn apart from the data partition.
If however you experience problems yo. May have to wipe the data partition. Just do a backup first.

Hello,
I have a rooted galaxy y. Today I've tried to install an a game, Duke Nukem 3D from market. It downloaded. When was installing, the free internal memory gone to 15 mb, and the game was not installed. I already tried wiping /cache partition, tried to search in /data the app, tried an app named Maketfix and rebooted too. No success.
I also wanted to do a reset, but I am uaing the ChobitsDigitalisV1.6 rom, and I am afraid to brick the phone, because I dont have a pc to unbrick if happens.
Can anyone help me to solve my problem?
Thanks.
Try SD Maid
Thanks, just tried now, but it didnt solve my problem.
install titanium backup and see what app using ~15mb. wipe that data app. if you can't find it try wipe orphan data and/or clean dalvik cache. done.

Didnt work titanium backup. I entered in cwm recovery and wiped dalvik-cache, and got more 18mb. Thanks!
Try installing Disk Usage, there you can check what app is eating a lot of memory and you can delete it there in the app.

I agree, try to use Disk Usage, you can easily detect which folder from your SD card or the app that consumes much memory.
And I must say that when you are rooted that doesn't mean that your internal memory will always be free about 180+ mb UNLESS if you have partitioned your SD card and applied a2sd script.
NOTE: Please check if your current ROM supports a2sd script. Partitioning SD card will delete SD card data so be sure to make a backup first.
IF YOU HAVE PARTITION, THEN PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR APP THROUGH TITANIUM BACKUP PRO AND FORMAT YOUR PARTITION: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741527
HERE'S THE LINK IF YOU HAVEN'T PARTITIONED YOUR SD CARD AND HOW TO APPLY a2sd script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456529
NOTE: Applying a2sd script will take much time so please be patient, sometimes it takes for about 3-5 mins.
Hope this will help you. Give a feedback after you've done it. ANY MEMBERS IN XDA WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU HAVE BRICKED YOUR DEVICE which is rarely the case. So make a backup first using CWM.
And if you have soft bricked your phone. try to restore your backup

Thanks man, this really helped me. But I am not sure, A2SD is better than Link2SD? And installed another kernel (it's kinda generic, I dont even know its name ), does it interfere on A2SD support?

I can't be sure of that.
I can say a2sd is better. Everything is on external when you are using this one. I used Link2sd for about 3 months but still there are cases that i got run out of space in my internal memory so now I'll stick with a2sd
Yesterday I tried about 15 times, and my [email protected]#%ed pc booted, then I put Link2SD, and my phone have now around 65mb free internal space, when I have time I will try A2SD.
Hi ,
i was on Quarx CM10 and tried to get back to Miui (GB). So i formatted the sd card to ext3 and tired to install but it there was some problem and my phone wont boot. So i flashed SBF and after that my Internal memory is showing 48 MB. If i tried to install nandroid backup and fixed sbf i have very little memory left to install my apps..
i searched for it in the forums . One suggestion is to deete data/tombstone. But i dont have that folder at all. So its been ruled out. I even tried other cleaning apps and all failed.
I think the Phone is not formatted properly to ext3. Can any one suggest how to format it back to EXT3 ....
Thanx
PS. By memory i mean Internal SD card. Not the RAM
Use the full system wiper script in the themes and apps section

Tried those scripts but in vain
@thekguy , pradeep and akhil
Thanx guys for your replies. I tried them too But there is no change. I am still having 60Mb of internal memory only. I guess its not reformatting the remaining memory. Can anybody suggest how i can get my total memory back???
Thanx
