No it's not possible... There are roms who should support it but I dunno if it's placebo or not.

This wasnt a tutorial, it was a question.
Is there any chance to calibrate the touchscreen in 2.3?
Program is needed. What? I do not know
in 1.6 and 2.1 there was a screen calibration tool, in 2.2 and 2.3 there was none. You could add a apk in 2.2 to calibrate it, but this program doesn't work in 2.3.
How come some people need to calibrate and some don't?
I did not need to calibrate when i had 2.3.2

i need to, i mistype annoyingly often since 2.3.2
I need one too
Here, you can find the HTC tool to calibrate the touchscreen in Android 2.3.
It's possible, that this tool works like "placebo".
P.S. Sorry, but my English isn't perfect.

thanks it runs on the optimus but is there any apps that can test the calibration before and after using touchscreen calibration apps?
Unfortunately no. Maybe this app works like placebo. After calibration you can feel an improvement, but really this app doesn't work.
Have you tried Touch Calibration. You can get it in the app store.
Sorry forgot to mention that it checks the calibration before saving.
I think the stock LG one work from 2.1
I'm not a developer, but i guess the original LG touch input driver isn't the same one used as that in CM. I too have been looking for answers but not able to find any.
I did post a youtube video on this called CM6.1.2 on GT540 Screen Calibration Problems (can't post links as i'm a new member). That used the LG screen calibration APK that fishears posted and although not on the video, the data\nv directory created with permissions set to full write (chmod 777)
Can people still on LG Rom post their /data/nv/ts_cal contents to see how different other peoples touch screen offsets are.

Yes!
There must be quite a few.
Try this https://market.android.com/details?id=multitouchpro.tests&feature=search_result or this https://market.android.com/details?id=de.greenrobot.multitouchtest&feature=search_result
Calibration is way off especially on texting

As I said earlier Touch Calibration allows you to calibrate your screen and it also checks the calibration afterwards for you. It's one that I use and it works for me.
Read this Thread, Screen Calibration 4 LG:

I tried and it works well on joes AOSP 2.3.2
Well i am messing around with my X8. I made some thing that holds my X8 and i Put down my X8 on it and it gone Landscape mode then i was testing with 2 fingers and i saw 2 touches ( 2 fingers) then i was moving them around like crazy then i saw a Blue , Red And a GREEN one just poped out of nothing and 3rd touch was thare it just flashed a green touch! So i think meybe its not at all clearpad 2000. Or maybe its just a Multitouch visible test app bug? Or is it andrej's module?
i hope to see that in your srom...its going to be the perfect rom if its in landscape..(but not in our mdpi x8)...
No this has nothing to do with my rom. Its in the matter or a firmwere limitation or just a bug. Who knows.

Maybe you can try to use another multi touch tester to see the results. Let us know! ;-)

I wasn't able to take a screenshot becouse i was flashing rom's like crazy my X8 got overheated so i installed a normal 2.2 until it cooled down. With andrej's module.
well can you mabe get a video up of that demonstration? I spent like 3minutes hard playing on that little screen and then ****ing dropped it.

Hi There,
I just recently rooted my HTC Desire Z (on Orange) without any issues. Installed a few different ROMS including CM7, CM9beta, Sense4 Beta, etc ...
All of these ROMS have the same issue when it comes to the LCD backlight brightness on the phone. The brightness never goes above ~25% no matter what I do.
I can lower it to minimum which works fine, but as I slide up the brightness once it hits around 25% it never gets any brighter, 100% is the same brightness as 25%.
I've tried everything to solve this, all the obvious things like Auto-brightness off, reflashing, different ROMS, searched through the forums and haven't found this problem.
I DID find people who have this problem on the SonyE Xperia Ray and they posted a fix for it, however the fix doesn't apply to the Desire Z - it says to edit the system/etc/hw_config.sh file and I don't even have this file on the Desire Z!
Can anyone help who has experienced this? The phone is almost unusable normal sunny daytime conditions without the extra brightness
I was going to try to return to stock next to see if that solves it, but then - can I not use any custom ROM?
Help!
Thanks
Docaroo
Also...my screen is using like 90 percent of my battery even in standby!
Something seriously wrong there!

Are you wiping data, when you flash the ROM?
Yeah full wipe from recovery each time!
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using xda premium
Odd. I haven't had this same problem on CM7, ILWT CM7 (as well as Sense ROMs). I haven't tried any ICS ROMs or Sense 4, so I can't speak to those.
I've been reading some things on here that suggest CM7 didn't have correct values for auto-brightness settings on the Z/G2 but that shouldn't affect overall brightness.
The strange thing is the screen battery rape that's happening as well! The battery drain looks like the screen is on 100% brightness all the time, even when it's asleep and off! Still seems to kill battery!
I guess I'll try a complete do-over of everything... go back to stock and make sure it works then flash this sense4 ROM again.
Pain in the butt!
Try fastboot wipe before your flash and why not superwipe too. I doubt its hardware related so it was either a bad download (check md5 sum) or residue from previous rom curropted something

I'm running Virtuous Primadonna and just tested my screen brightness slider. Works as advertised. I use SuperwipeG2+ext4 between each and every wipe. Never have had an issue that wasn't already in existence.
Do you use CWM or 4EXT recovery? It's believed that the recovery wipe isn't as through as Superwipe.
I just tried again with 4EXT recovery loading this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546915 (Ice Cream Sensewich).
Still the same issue! Brightness never goes about 25-30% no matter where the slider is!!
I did a full wipe with 4EXT recovery, including formatting the /system folder ...
I'll try Superwipe though, after that I'm out of ideas! :/
Superwipe followed by Sensewich Beta6 doesn't work
Will try Primadonna....

Ah Jesus CHRIST!!! Exact same problem with Primadonna!! What the heck!!
I've superwiped and installed ... no difference.
I wonder if it could be hardware? But what would stop the LCD Backlight brightness from going up to full??
My god this is so annoying! :/
Hate to say it but it sounds like a hardware issue :/

That's what I'm thinking at this stage... I could take the phone apart and look for anything obvious I guess! Maybe a bad connection to the screen or something ...
Try wiping and flashing something stable like the latest cyanogen

I have to agree with blk_jack on this one. I've run several different ROMs on my G2 and have never had that issue. My battery has always drained very quickly but I've always had full control of the brightness settings.
Ok ive been compiling this theme for a few months, requesting feedback, and b honest

Hard work justifies itself. A beauty to behold. Try to make it a bit less intimidating[a little (delta-magnitude) bit more light green would do]. But take it just as a feedback. Its your art after all
