Factory Reset method and Activation Bypass for Continuum - Continuum General

Just an informative post after some experiences I had today after updating my Continuum to EC09 (Froyo, 2.2.2)
1. Factory Reset method
- Vol Down+Power goes into download mode, but if you hold down both Vol Up and Vol Down while pressing power, you get the recovery menu that lets you do a factory reset. Use the camera button to select menu options, not the power button.
2. Activation Bypass
- The old ##778 method didn't work, it spat back an error saying it was not an emergency number. Using *#83786633 (*#testmode) bypassed the activation screen.
I had a heck of a time getting EC09 to go OTA. I had to try 7 or 8 times, and when it did apply, the phone was very flaky. Constantly restarting the UI and vibrating at random. Factory reset seems to have made it happier (for now).

[Q] My Atrix 4G Died (keeps rebooting)

My Atrix has been going in to reboot ever since the last OTA update. Usually it would start doing this once a week and I could remove the battery for 10 mins and it would come back and work fine for about a week.
Yesterday it started again but can not get it to stop. It won't even stay on long enough to do a factory reset.
I stopped by an art store and they were no help, they just gave me a number to call so they could have online tech try to help me. They stepped me through the standard take the battery out, try to do the factory reset (even after I told then I tried all of this stuff) they told me to hold the power key and both up & down volume keys at the same time (that did not do anything or may be I was not doing it right)
Finally they are sending me a replacement (refurb) phone that I have to wait 6 days to get and from what I have been reading on the forums it will most likely have problems too.
I had to go back to my old samsung windows phone and its been less than 24 hours and I am getting the shakes not having my android.
Any other ideas on how to get my phone to stop rebooting constantly?
Can you get into recovery even if it's stock recovery just turn off and hold the vol- key and tape the power key it will boot to a screen with fastboot press vol- untill you see android recovery press vol+ and wait for it to boot in to recovery if you have clockwork recovery the hit reset to factory and if you have stock recovery then press both vol-+ at the same time and then press reset to factory

Try this, had the same problem yesterday:
If you get stuck in a bootloop rebooting the tablet after unlocking the bootloader...
Here's what you do..
1) During the bootloop.. hold the power button + volume up + volume down button simultaneously to get yourself back into fastboot mode as you were previously.
2) In fastboot mode.. use the volume keys to scroll to Recovery and the power button to select it.
3) In Recovery (Android robot on his back with a red triangle)... tap the volume up button and the power button simultaneously which will bring you into stock recovery. Again.. Don't hold the buttons, just tap them simultaneously. Also make sure you're holding the correct volume button. Up will be the volume key on the right.
4) Once you're in Recovery.. perform a factory reset/data wipe and then reboot your tablet... you should now be back to the Welcome Screen.

Exactly what I did to solve the bootloop after unlock. Worked with no problems after factory reset/data wipe. Just went back to the 4.2.1 I had on it.
With my Nexus 7, when unlocking the bootloader, it would automatically factory reset itself. The Nexus 10 doesn't appear to do this, but it does appear to be a required step regardless (I guess unlocking the bootloader does something that is only fixable with factory reset, for security reasons).
So as mentioned already, a factory reset should take care of things
thanks for the tip.i got something like that,i unlocked rooted the tablet and all was ok untill i went into system settings to update it via ota. after the ota had been downloaded succesfully it rebooted into recovery automatically but failed to update. then i couldnt get into the system any longer even after i flashed factory image using the toolkit in another thread.
i will try this when i get home, hope it can solve my problem too.
edit:done. thanks again for the tip

Droid X not able to Factory Flash

Hey guys.
I am trying to factory reset a Droid X for a someone. Their son owned it beforehand and doesn't know his Google info. He wants to sell it either way, and doesn't feel like doing the recovery process (Plus it's hard to get a hold of him sometimes).
Steps taken:
Attempted to get into the recovery console:
- Remove battery from phone
- Press volume down
- Nothing happens, loads normally
- Remove Battery
- Press and hold home key
- Attempt to power on, still boots normally.
I *CAN* get into the boot loader by pressing Vol +/- Then powering on, but that's not what I'm wanting. I just want to do a basic factory reset.
Any ideas on this?

it should be in settings then back up and reset
I guess I wasn't clear enough. They don't know the log in information to the phone.

S7 Edge Bricked

I recently (successfully?) rooted my phone, but couldn't make phone calls or texts so I tried factory resetting it. The factory reset worked but I still had the root and I couldnt make calls or texts, so I tried multiple times to unroot it through Odin and it said it worked on my last attempt, but now my phone is stuck on a black screen and a blue LED pops up. I get no vibrations or feedback from my phone. I've tried all the combos to reset, down home power, down power, power home up, home power, all of them. My only hope is to let the phone die of power and recharge it and see if it will work. Does anyone have any ideas? When I plug it in to my computer it wont detect it either.
check your IMEI with *#06#!
when you have no IMEI you need the EFS BackUp...hope you have it.

power button + volume down. When it reboots, quickly get into download mode the same way you would normally. And same as above post, EFS back.. if it's not resolved from factory reset.
I have had this problem.
If you just hold power vol- down it will reboot and when reeboting, just keep holding the same buttons until you get the Download Mode.
If not try holding power vol- up until geeting into recovery, then go trough download mode from there.
You just have to hold the buttons down, it wil maybe restart but just keep holding these buttons trough the restarts.
In download mode you have to do a fresh install with a rom of your choice from Sammobile, orginal firmware.
And remember to never Factory Reset your phone after innstaling ROOT and Recovery.
The best way to do factory reset after these are firmware flash trough Odin.

SM-930F Won't reboot, can't be flashed and won't start up due FGP Lock.

Hi!
I've got an Samsung Galaxy S7 since 2017.
Due to an app i wanted to use i tried to Root my phone. It did work but not all apps worked properly so i tried to unroot it.
As it did seem to work but i was still a bit sceptic i decided to do a factory reset to completely empty it.
While doing the factory reset my phone crashed... also found out that i didn't have my OEM allowance on so i can't even enter my phone anymore as it says Custom binary locked by FRP Lock.
I emptied the data / cache and tried to factory reset but it wouldn't do anything.
I tried flashing my phone with the samsung firmware for the S7 with odin, BUT my phone doesn't respond at all.
it just keeps standing on Downloading... do not turn off target. Even if Odin tries to write onto the phone nothing happens, even tho the downloader should respond. Tried different Cables as well. As of now i have no idea what to do left to get in there. i tried for hours, tried different firmwares, but nothing responds... Anyone having tips for me?
When you tried with oden where you in download mode or still on the boot screen with the lock message?
You can't flash if your not in download mode.
to get in download you shoud normally by pressing the Volume Down, Home and Pose On/Off button together for about 3-4 seconds.
Once the Download screen appears, press Volume Up button to continue.
you could give this a try
Press the Power On/Off button and Volume Down button simultaneously for 5-7 seconds as shown below.
Wait for the phone to reboot and start again normally.
See that the Custom Binary Block error message does not pop-up this time.
if not then you could try .
Another useful way to bypass/remove the FRP Lock error is to perform a factory reset on your phone. This can be implemented by booting into the Recovery Mode. To do so:
Long press the Power On/Off, Home and Volume Up button together and was for a screen with multiple options appear before you.
Now use the Volume Down key to scroll down and select “Wipe Data/Factory Reset” using the Power On/Off button as shown in the screenshot below.
Wait patiently for the process to get over and for your phone to restart normally.
Note: you will lose all your data and setting stored in the phone after performing a factory/ hard reset.
Be prepared to set-up your phone from scratch after the process is over.
