Aurora ICS 4.0.3 root - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi,
How to root Aurora ICS 4.0.3?
I can use DoomLord v3 root but I'm not sure

Why? This ROM is already rooted...

Really I didn't know rooted. thank you

I have the same problem.
In the root explorer i can't modify the build.prop (example) and i can't use the Screencast. Appears one notification saying "Your phone are not rooted for you use".

my advice is use remount app and change permissions "/" with the app

in aurora ics ,i can change r/w to r/o with root explorer but can't set r/o to r/w again.

Well, in the version 1.3 for me the root not works, but in the 1.4 and 1.5 works very well.
Change de version for 1.4 or 1.5 and the root works.

I use this one (was pulled from an AOSP 2.3.3 build) with Darky 10 RC4. It's a little buggy at times but no worse than any of the others I've used with 2.1 and 2.2

Pardon my ignorance, but what does it mean to "remount the file system?"
The "system" folder has read/write permissions set according to my root explorer?... however I've just tried to rename or delete the wpa_supplicant and it doesnt work..
enter the /system folder with root explorer
and press the W/R button
and try again

Okay, so I've finally figured out to how to remount with r/w permissions and replaced the file with the one posted here. However, now my WiFi won't turn on. The indicator that normally lights up green stays gray and there's no connection.
PLS HALP

what are the permission of the file you copied to /system/bin/wpa_supplicant ?
you will have to make executable for all

You can change hosts file with rooted device. I suggest use Es File explorer for full access R/W file system. If you edit hosts file on windows, you must convert it using dos2unix before copy to A500.
ROOT WITH
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1546593
DO NOT INSTALL FACELOCK or ACER RING
then after you open your tablet.
1 - Launch A500 Remount
2 - Press /system (Full access in ICS LEAK)
reboot your tablet
redo 1 and 2
then
use root explorer, go to system and press r/w button to change to r/w that should work
1) Get root as mentioned earlier
2) download AdFree from the Play Store. It works with ICS
This is the easiest method

This is a good method, however I noticed some problems with links to sites with ad redirects not working with AdFree. ROM Toolbox on the Play Store has an ad blocking option built in that has some more options (such as blocking risky sites or porn) so you can tweak to your liking.
AdAway also works, plus it has quite good block lists (AdFree misses some ads for me).
Thanks guys... I have root access already but still cant get R/W....
I am going to flash another ROM via CM.....
I used to like it when the old flash able ZIP files work..
Thanks
again to all

Do you follow what I said or you just quick read..
the R/W you get it by doing what I said.
sometimes it's just weird, but reboot, and remount in RW then USE ONLY ROOT EXPLORER to mount R/W system/ others didn t make them work...
and command line neither...

[Q] Ics 4.0.3 rooted but unable to copy to system/fonts

Hello,
Thank you for helping me solve this problem. I am completely new to android.
I needed to install Indic fonts on acer a500. I used Blackthund3r's Easy tool to root ICS 4.0.3. But then when I try to copy the fonts into system/fonts on the device the copy always fails. I have tried Root Explorer, EZ File Browzer, etc.
What am I doing wrong? Ofcourse the rooting tool is successful in rooting the device... at least it says so. And I set the file system in the a500 root tool app to RW. But the copy still fails.
TIA.

You have root access but your system folder is still on read only. You need to set permissions to RW.
if using root explorer go to the folder you wanna copy from or to and click the grey box at the top saying "mount -rw" you will then be able to copy.
its like setting a windows file from read only to read, write, delete
Going from memory, but I think I remember reading that Blackthund3r only gives half root. You may not be able to mount the system folder as rw the usual way.
But Blackthund3r should have also installed an app called A500 Remount. If you have it, open and you will see an option to set system to mount r/w.
Then you should be able to paste what you need. After that, r/w permission will last until your next reboot. After reboot you'll need to use A500 Remount again if you need to access /system again.
Good luck...

system R/W problem after 4.3 update. please help

I updated to JB 4.3 via adb/fast boot and everything went smooth. The only issue I'm having is that when setting up ROM toolbox ad blocker I'm getting an error can't mount system read/write after the host file is downloaded. I installed busy box beforehand and had no problems mounting the system r/w there and also able to mount r/w inside es file explorer. Anyone have any idea what's going on...I'm I missing something?
Did you root ? Which method ? Flash chainfires binary .

Yea, I rooted. I used a version of super su that is recommended for JB 4.3. I updated the su binaries. There's something keeping the ad blocker from mounting r/w on the / I decided to go back to 4.2.2 for now. I was having another issue with 4.3... I couldn't uninstall the stock launcher through titanium backup. When I tried it said the system apk couldn't be located. I didnt really notice much to speak of in the way of new features in 4.3

Unable to mount /system as R/W partition

As the title states, my device /system is mounted as R/O and cannot be switched. This ROM has a prebuilt rooted in it, but I tried using Root Explorer, ADB on PC, apps on Play Store, but no luck. So I was wondering if there is a work around with this.

What root "manager" are you using (SuperSU)? When you try to make a root operation, does the root manager pops up and asks you to grant root permissions? I think you don't have a root manager installed or working properly...

I'm using internal root, which is not using TWRP to flash SuperSU, and I can assure you that I have root installed.
