[XOOM 2] Xyboard ROOT is here! - Xoom General

Thanks to Dan Rosenberg, he will be posting a 1 click method to Root your Xyboards! And major themer Bignadad will have a Xyboard theme coming soon.
http://www.mydroidworld.com/topic/10487-root-droid-xyboard-root-1-click-method-coming-soon/
ETA: Says will work with VZW Xy's and w/ or w/out OTA's!!!!

Report back when you've tried it with success. That will be GREAT news.

Yea, he has tested on my Xoom 2 10.1 (After OTA) works great. He told me that the method will be possibly be up Friday or Saturday on the blog so keep checking his website.

Worked on mine to. My VZW Xyboard 10.1 was the "before OTA update" it was tested on.
Edit: its out: http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2012/02/17/rooting-the-xyboardxoom-2/

I think thats it, I'm not sure. The package name as you'll see isn't "Motocast.apk"
but its the only thing that made sense since there isn't an apk in there with that name.

Thats definitely it, thank you for sharing!
Now I need to figure out how to get it to work. A simple apk install was a no-go and dropping it in /system/app didn't work either.
Gives me something to do today I guess
Any chance you wouldn't mind doing a titanium backup of motocast and sharing the 3 files?

I can't wait for this. Has anyone tried to unblock the ports that's required to be open to make the tablet work with programs like airplay, wifi explore and file expert to make possible wifi files transfer from my tablet to my linux os? Are there any programs to do that? Probably Droidwall do this , can anyone with rooted device try it ?

So this is also applicable for the Xoom 2? Can't wait for this

Maybe I'll get lucky but if not oh well, I'm sure someone smarter than me will get it to work.

I think this means we need our own forum or at least a sub forum. Next stop that pesky bootloader.
Seperately having trouble with set cpu will not let me clock over 1200! any ideas?

Your phone has this already (out of the box) and yes it will wipe everything from your phone.
Thanks! this let me restore everything back to stock and put s-on back. I had to exchange the thunder due to the backlight bleeding through the black paint around the bottons.
My Tbolt has this same issue and I'd like to exchange. Did Verizon give you any hassle when exchanging it? I'm rooted and will need to flash back to stock as soon as I can DL this file...

Yes they did. Said it existed on all of the new TB's they've sold and would not exchange the phone for that reason. It's not really that bad but in the dark, it's annoying.
Grabbing with a downloader and then editing this post with a mediafire link. The only good site for uploads other than my server IMHO

Is the webtop hack already in the Gingerblur 3.1 rom?

I would normally do the research on here myself, but it won't let me search the Gingerblur thread because i don't have 10 posts yet, so i figured i get one more post out of the way.
I am already rooted and i am on 1.8.3. I also have the Webtop hack. I want to install my first rom, gingerblur, but i want to make sure that i will have the webtop hack as well. Thanks.
nope it doesn't by default but you can still install it. that or wait till 3.5 is out and it will include it again.

now go to about phone and see if your still on 1.8.3 and 2.2.2. More then likely it reverted you back to 1.5.7 it has done it to me 3 times now so instead of doing that method im going to push the 2 apk files

[Q]Porting Motorola Droid Bionic LAUNCHER for Blade(Not MotoBlur)?

Is it possible to port the Motorola Droid Bionic Launcher for the ZTE Blade? I'm not talking about the Motoblur UI, It's the newer unnamed UI that Motorola uses on the Droid Bionic.(I'm just requesting for the Launcher not porting UI). If it's already there somewhere please show me some light!

Thanks!

Well why don't you pull the apk, back up your phone and try? Move it to where ever its located on the rom zip (probably /data/apps or /system/apps). Not saying that will work but would be step 1 on attempting it.

[Question] Is there Root for SM-G530P?

Just went over to sprint the other day and got this version that ha 5.1.1 installed out of the box. Been searching around and have yet to find anything that even list this version/build but see many others listed.
Is there a root/Pre-root rom that will work on this variant?
I second this! I have been searching for any info on rooting this specific device without luck! I don't mind doing research on how to do it and finding out how my self, just can't find anything at all to do so thus far!
Root for SM-G530P
I third this someone please help...
Before you get into flashing anything on the device....please be sure to enable OEM Unlocking under developers option.
Also, there seems to be a twrp recovery, however, I have not tested it out myself yet...when I do so I will let you all know if it's success or not.
Another thing, I think it's highly possible that the phone will require a "permissive" kernel...not too sure yet. I will advise shortly...
Ok I got news. The phone has been semi-rooted, I was right...it requires a permissive kernel in order for the phone to boot up once more. The people that come in mind when it comes to permissive sprint kernels are Freeza & Djvoleur. They can probably cook something up if they have the source code for this phone already.... also, we need a working twrp or philz recovery.... the ones provided do not work... meaning that it would be redundant to have a permissive kernel...if we don't have a working custom recovery to flash it over with.... unless there's another way to flash the zip file or maybe just the boot.img? I will keep updating this if I find anything further...

Only weird thing on my handset tho, is when i apply the theme using hdwalls, i have to switch off / switch on, to get the top and bottom curtains to change. If i simply do a soft reset, it puts standard grey top/bottom curtains up. Happens with all downloaded themes, ones ive made myself, everything. Odd!

Have you done a backup for TWRP and did you notice?

So I decided to run a quick backup of the phone system files with TWRP and I noticed that it has a system_image.emmc.win file that are 6GB in size. My question is this. Is this a complete image of the phone's base setup so when things go south we can use this file to go back to? Or is it something else??

To the best of my knownledge, you don't want or need that system.img in your backups. I know on my nexus 6p you don't use it. big waste of space. Perhaps something a dev needs???

I would think that big image file would be the image used for a factory reset with all the program, system file and such so they can just reset it quick and easy. And if that is the case, wouldn't that be what is needed by the devs?

I'm pretty surprised that such an important file isn't already widely available. I expected easy unlocking/rooting and custom ROMs at this point. Has this phone not been available for a while now in the US? What's holding everything back?
Anyway, if you could somehow make that file available again I'm sure I wouldn't be the only grateful one.

Any other place you can upload it to? It might be the only way for the bootloader unlocked group to get future updates (if it was captured without b20_boot).
