[Q] URGENT - SPL 1.33.0013 safe to flash back to 2.22.23.02 radio?

Using the rooted official ota froyo update with ezterry's cm6 kernel. The one in my sig.
I've been on the new spl ever since the first half of my ota update succeeded and the second half failed.
Just now I flashed the new radio and boot-looped. If I flash to 23.02 am I in danger?

[Q] Problem getting back into CM6 after updating stock ROM to 2.2.1 OTA

Hi All,
I have a 32B Magic on Vodafone in the UK.
I've been using CM6 on it for a while but when I heard about the official 2.2 update from vodafone I decided to try it out.
Using ClockworkMod I backed up CM6 and then restored my backup of my stock ROM which was 1.6.
After a while I received the 2 OTA updates without issue and am now on the official vodafone 2.2 release. I had a bit of bother re-rooting and flashing clockworkmod recovery but I managed it in the end and backed up my new shiney.
The problem is that I now seem to be stuck on stock ROMs.
I tried to restore my CM6.0 ROM but it hung on the vodafone spash, so I thought it must be a corrupt backup.
I re-flashed CM6.0 thinking it would cure it but got the same problem.
I downloaded and flashed CM6.1, same again.
How can I load these custom ROMS again?
Phone details:
sapphire pvt 32b ship s-on g
hboot 1.33.0013 (sapp100000)
cpld -10
radio - 2.22.28.25

Any help appreciated!

Difference between cmw.zip and kernel in Kernel Update Utilities

Hi there, I got confused between cmw.zip and kernel files provided in Kernel Update Utility software, can anyone tell me what is the difference? I am interested in changing my stock kernel into a custom one.
Do I need S-Off and Eng-Off?
By the way which kernel version would you recommend? I am currently enjoying using the current stock ROM from HTC and currently not yet interested in changing to other ROMs yet. The purpose of me to change to custom Kernel is just to improve efficiencies of my Desire HD.
Oh btw, can I recover back to the stock kernel after update to the new one? If yes, how am I suppose to do it? (just in case I need to exercise my warranty)
My software is 1.32.707.5, running Android 2.2
Thanks ya.

thery are just two ways to flash a kernel, the kernel update utility it's ment to be safer, but i flash all my kernels from cwm with no issues yes you need s-off to flash a kernel, i would defo recommend leedroids latest beta kernel, it is awsome you can always return back to your stock kernel you can just flash stock kernels like custom ones.
Hi AndroHero
Thank you for your recommendation. I shall consider trying LeeDroid's beta kernel.
Hmm.. return back to stock kernel.. the stock kernel will be saved in the SD card or something?
By the way I got confused with S-Off and Eng-Off. Its not the same right? I've read these thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537. I've used the Easy Radio Tool to turned S-Off.
When I return back to bootloader.. its already S-Off, does it mean that Eng is also Off?? Sorry, I am already starting to blur.
Based on my best knowledge, Eng-Off is for changing radio version.

I have attached a copy of the stock kernel to the bottom of this post for you, it can be flashed from recovery. ok the main diffrence between ENG S-OFF and Radio S-OFF, is that with the ENG (engineering) you can issue fastboot commands to your device. (So for example you can flash a radio or recovery with the command "fastboot flash radio xxxxxx.img"). where as Radio S-OFF will sim unlock your device and give you SuperCID. you can flash both Radio and ENG S-OFF and enjoy the benefits of both. i flashed Radio S-OFF then ENG S-OFF. but you can do it either way
When you are ENG S-OFF, in bootloader it will say, "ACE PVT ENG S-OFF", if it says "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF" you only have the radio version
*EDIT* I'm having issues uploading to XDA, you can download the stock kernel here, courtesy of leedroid http://leedroid.com/ace-customization/

[Q] Wildfire 2.2.1 with S-OFF backup

Hi guys,
I want to install a custom ROM on my Wildfire. I currently have 2.2.1 on in and I checked the HBOOT (v1.10.0001) and it shows S-OFF.
Is there any way to backup my current ROM without having to root the phone(downgrading to 2.1 and then running unrevoked)?
Cheers
