hi guys,
we have a wireless network at home with 4 laptops and 1 desktop which is the main computer connected to the netgear wireless router.
I have just purchased an o2 xdaiis, i tried connecting via wifi for 2 days with no success, then i decided to look at the settings on the router where i found the following
we had mode g which supports 802.11g
so i changed this to g+b which supports both 802.11g and 802.11b,i also had to change from channel 7 to channel 10 to get the laptops to work, but when doing this the main desktop didnt work,
this allowed me to connect with my xda and all laptops imediateley with excellent signal strengh,
The main desktop is my dads and he was not too happy when he came to connect so i had to put settings back to the original,
Could some one please help me with the connection on the main desktop computer with the g+b settings
Thanks in advance
Alan
there is a patch somewhere here that allows some of the phone (not sure about yours) to connect to g-mode (in b-speed). Try searching for it.
I wonder why the desktop is having problems with the new settings though.

Hi, thanks for the reply i just changed to channel 13 and all sorted,
Thanks
ps, great site
Ok I have search a good bit online surfing the net, and 3 calls to Belkin 3 calls to T-mobile and nothing. Now my wifi works everywhere else, and my labtops connect just fine to the router but it seems like the Belkin N has something blocking it (even tried a shadow with original ROM and would not connect). So I took all the security opitions off along with the firewall and it still failed to connect. If anyone has any solutions or ideas I am willing to try. Thanks guys

It is set for B/G/and N. And i dont know about the mac security set-up. But I have tried setting it to just G or B and N and nothing. Tell me more about this mac security set-up.
There is nothing wrong with your phone. The shadow/juno has an internal wireless card that only supports b/g wifi and it's currently not compatible with n radio signals. It will work perfectly with b/g wireless networks. So, if your router has a b/g/n setting, set it to that, but do not set the security settings into a newer format, stick with wep2 or wep and it should work with no problem. If you leave it on n setting only, the internal wireless card in the shadow will not support it. You also have to remember that n wireless is not that widely used and its barely catching on. Many new electronics are still being made with b/g internal wireless cards because they are widely avaliable and come in smaller sizes suitable for phones like the shadow. Currently n wireless cards are fairly expensive and i doubt it will be made avaliable on phones anytime soon as cost would be too high for manufacturing. Hope this helps.

Ok I understand that but I have tried that already with all my security off set on just G/B and by them self's also and it still will not connect. I went threw all of this on the phone with T-mobile and Belkin. But I appreciate the help.

i have the same problem
d*mn!
has anyone sort this thing out yet?
i have the same issue using stock TMO's ROM...
Just for the sake of discussion, I'm assuming that all of you have T-Mobile Shadow phones that work fine with other wireless routers or public access points? Any problems when turning on security settings on other wireless networks (those that you or your friend can manage)?
If the problems persist with other wireless networks while using your Shadow, chances are that your Shadow's wireless card is faulty, which is not unheard of.
Please comment on your phone's status.
Also, which model of Belkin N router are you all having problems with?
All N routers are typically backward compatible so setting them to mixed mode (B/G/N) would not affect the Shadow's Wifi capabilities.
AC, there's never a wep2...I guess you meant WPA & WPA2.
scenarios
First scenario:
Home
NETGEAR 802.11g/b WIRELESS ROUTER WITH WPA-PSK
RESULTS: fine.. shadow is working great on TMO's and erofich's rom
Second scenario:
GirlFriends HOUSE
NEXXT WIRELESS 802.11g/b WIRELESS ROUTER WITH WEP (cheap stuff)
RESULTS: Excellent, shadow is working fine on both roms
Third Scenario
MACDONALDS ROUTER
UNKOWN ROUTER WITHOUT SECURITY
RESULTS: FINE... Shadow gets connection.
----------------------------------------------------------
Last Scenario
OFFICE
Belkin N-Wireless Router F5D8233-4v3(01) with latest firmware update
Result: No way to get Shadow connected. Even WIthout Encryption, MAC address control off, B & G & N bands, UPNP Off, but my laptop does get WiFi Connection (just 11g compliant WiFi card)
Just to point out, I have the same problem with my Belkin Wireless N router. In the office, I can jump onto our Netgear Wireless N router without a problem. I also have no problem jumping onto any free McDonalds networks, the networks at friends' places, or the free network in the CambridgeSide Galleria out here near Boston. This is definitely not an isolated issue. Nobody with a Shadow can get on my home network.

I have an HTC Touch that can connect to other hotspots, but not to my home Belkin router. Sometimes, if there is another connection available, it can see the router, and says that it is Available, but cannot connect; other times it won't even see it. I have checked for firmware updates, but I have the latest. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Belkin Response Nov 14 2008 22:18
Hi Lilburd,
Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support.
We understand that the HTC Touch does not connect to the router. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Please follow the steps given below to update the firmware and configure the router:
We recommend that you update the firmware from a computer that is connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
Please download the latest firmware on the router from the link given below. Download the file "3.01.29":
http://www.belkin.com/uk/support/article/?lid=enu&pid=F5D8233uk4&aid=10288&scid=0
and save it to the computer.
- To update the firmware, log on to the router`s web interface by typing in http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar of the browser. The computer should be
connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
Note: If you have changed your Router’s IP address, use that IP address.
- By default, the password is blank. Click the "Submit" button.
- Click on "Firmware Upgrade" under the option "Utilities".
- Click on “Browse” and select the bin file that you have downloaded.
- Click on “update” and follow the wizard.
- After updating the firmware, restore the router to factory defaults by clicking on "Restore Factory Defaults" under "Utilities".
- Reconfigure the router.
Please follow the steps given below for configuring the router:
- Connect the computer to the "LAN" port on the router and connect the modem to the Internet/"WAN" port, using Ethernet cables.
- Take a paper clip, insert the paper clip in the reset hole of the router and hold it for 15 seconds.
- The power light will flash and then come back "ON" solid, indicating that the router is being restored to factory defaults.
- The corresponding lights on the front of the router should be lit up.
- On the computer, check if you have an IP address in the range of 192.168.2.x.
- If not, specify a static IP address, gateway and "DNS" address by following the steps given in the link-
http://web.belkin.com/support/kb/kb.asp?a=2824
- Log on to the router web interface by typing in http://192.168.2.1, in the address bar of your browser.
- By default, the password is blank.
- Click on "Connection Type" in the left hand column under "Internet WAN" heading.
If the connection type is Dynamic (cable):
- Choose "Dynamic" and then click on "Next".
- Type in your “Host Name”, if your Internet Service Provider has provided it. Else, leave it blank.
- Click on "Change WAN MAC Address".
- Click on the button "Clone".
- Click on "Apply Changes".
If the connection type is PPPOE (DSL):
- Choose "PPPOE" and click on "Next".
- Enter the user name and password given by your Internet Service Provider.
- Save the settings.
- Click on the "Home" link at the top of the screen.
Internet Status should show "Connected" on the top right hand corner of the web page.
If the problem persists, please get back to us with the following information:
1. Type of connection provided by your ISP (Is it PPPOE, Dynamic or static).
2. Name of the Internet service provider (ISP).
3. Version number of the router. You would find the version number on the bottom of the device. It would be a number in a series of thousands with a prefix “ver.”.
4. If the internet connection is stable on the computers using the router?
5. If the HTC Touch detects and connects to other networks in the neighborhood?
Lilburd, if you need further assistance please feel free to write back to us and we will be happy to assist you.
Regards,
Belkin Technical Support.

The same happened to me. I also have a Belkin pre-n router and my HTC Tytn wouldn't get wifi, no matter how or what I tried. I read your comment yesterday and, although the no-so-great new firmware check utility on the web interface said there was no new firmware available, I checked the USA and UK sites, since the Spanish site doesn't even show this router anymore. I downloaded 3.01.29 from the USA site and now my HTC Tytn is getting wifi at last. Thanks a lot, you saved my day.
Just picked up my TF today, updated to 3.1
I have a main router at my house and two bridged repeaters (dd-wrt) sending the signal everywhere so I have coverage. Here is the strange issue:
I can connect via wifi just fine to my main router, but I can't to either repeater. The TF says I am connected, but the wifi symbols stays gray, and doesn't connect to the internet. Other devices connect fine to the routers, even my droid 2 global has no issues.
Anyone else experiencing anything like this? Strangest wifi bug I've ever experienced, i'm stumped.
I've tried the following:
Channel Changes
Open security
Router Reboots
Any advice would be appreciated!!!
just tried connecting to my dd-wrt for the first time reading your post, and it worked fine... I am running prime 1.4 if that happens to have anything to do with it.
Have you tried static IP on your TF?

A repeater? Or direct router?
I have tried static ip, no avail.
I also have an annoying wifi issue as well. When my transformer comes out of sleep it seems to be connected to the wifi but I can't surf the net. I need to turn-off wifi and turn it back on to make it properly work.
Using Prime ROM v1.4 and the wifi uses WPA.
I should have also mentioned, that despite being "connected" I still cannot visit the router gui via the TF's browser...

+1... I am annoyed with this as well...
mine is a bridge, with it's own ssid
still can't figure it out
I'm considering flashing to prime 1.4 to see if that will help. does anyone know if there are different wifi drivers on prime 1.4 vs stock 3.1?
thx
Have you tried flashing the latest firmware to you repeaters?

Same issue was happening to me on stock rom. I changed WiFi disconnect policy from "Never when plugged in" to "Never". The issue is now gone but battery goes a little quicker now...
Do you know if you have an access list setup on your router? Your access list maybe bllocking your tf from connecting
The first thing I would do in your case, OP, is to disable all security, mac filtering, passwords, etc and see if the Asus will connect or not.
I'm using Prime 1.4 and have no problems connecting to my wifi network using WPA2.
I have...
(1) - Verizon Fios - Main router - no wireless broadcast - DHCP on
(2) - Linksys E2000 - DD-WRT - wired ethernet to main router - broadcasting SSID - DHCP off
(3) - Linksys E2000 - DD-WRT - wired ethernet to main router - broadcasting SSID - DHCP off
Unfortunately, I'm not doing the wireless bridge repeater mode but I haven't noticed anything particularly different about the Asus's wifi.
My wifi is always on, I don't use any of the battery saving modes.
figured it out
After trying a bunch of various resets and google searches, it turns out that the only way for me to connect to a bridged router is by using static ip's and making sure the dns was set to find my main AP.
Its strange that i would have to go through so much manual setup, when all other devices work just fine.
Hello, I have a problem with my KF...
I connect to a Network by WiFi and all works perfect, but when I connect more than 5 or 6 times at the same Network... next time I try connect it doesn´t connect more and in the screen appears "Error in connection"
I´ve my Kindle fire since the last week and it happens in all networks, I try, It connects well but it stops when I try to connect more times...
The problem is that I´m European and I can´t solve it sending the KF to Amazon.
What can I do? I´ve the 6.2 version, without static IP...
I think that the problem is the software, because I can connect to new networks....
Help Please!! Thanks
I found same problem. Pls help.
My solution
I've had similar problems to the point where the kindle times my router out. It would connect and all of a sudden I had no connection on any of my devices. I've spent hours reading through the amazon kindle forums which offer many of solutions. The one I've noticed the worked for the majority of users (Including myself) was to make a few changes in your router.
I changed 802.11 Mode from n/b/g mix to 802.11(g) Only
Get Wifi Analyzer and see if the channel your router uses is not shared with many hotspots around you. I found that I was using channel 6 and so were 4 other hotspots around me. I could not find one that was on channel 10, so I set my router to channel 10.
Now it works like a charm. Depends of the router you use. I am on a Westell router provided by my ISP.
I can provide link to amazon forum for reference.
Wowww! It Works!!! Thank you!!!!
thanks this trick worked on my rooter too!
however we cannot change rooters in the city's hotspots... that's where this problem will still remain unsolved

Guys, recently bought a Nexus 4 and it normally connects via wifi but can not connect.
I was using the Android 4.2.2 OTA updated to Android 4.3 and the problem persists.
The Nexus 4 connects normally, but the icons of wifi connection and carrier signal are gray instead of blue and even trying to install applications via Google Play or simply access a site via browser do not work and accuse the connection fails.
I was tested and the router's signal is good and other equipment that I usually work (other Android smartphones and notebook).
My router is standard G and I use WPA2.

Oddly enough, I have the Nexus just 3 days and only had access to the router so far from home, but today I'll look for a router to test the public.
But either way it's frustrating the Nexus 4 have these compatibility issues when connecting to a wifi router.
Before making the switch router, is it not possible to find out which configuration of WLAN could cause this? Does Google do not have this documented?
i feel your pain, been there
it could be your router, from the way it assigns ip addresses to your type of encryption. by any chance is it a linksys G router? that was my problem before until i just decided to get an N router.
did you try switching to WEP or open to see if the problem persists? or changing your gateway ip address? or changing which ch your wifi is on?
never hurts to try
Should factory reset your router and upgrade firmware first, then immediately connect to it without encryption and see if it work.
