Hi everybody,
I installed cm7 to my phone and i like it but i like power saving app on original 2.3.5 on U8800. How to find original power saving apk?

We now have a Q&A section. Please post all questions there
If you already have a costume ROM and setted up the CPU's speeds and governor, you really can't to much more than controlling brightness, turning off wifi when you don't need... you know... basic stuff.
Try playing with governors and the processor scaling to find the most suitable for you. The golden line between speed-smoothness and battery saving. From my experience there is no magic applications.

I have tinkered with of pcs so understand a little bit but have never done a phone. I would like to oc to s decent speed but at the same time not massively impact on battery performance or temprature.Would anyone be willing to walk me through it. Don't want to harm my baby

Install one of the OC-kernels in this forum and download/install SetCPU. a free version of SetCPU is available here on XDA, use search.
Once you install the OC kernel, start SetCPU, click auto-detect and off you go!
Set default max and min frequentie and make profile (like Screen off->max 386mhz, min 245mhz).

see even thats not basic enough for me
i have set cpu on my phone now and i was going to download this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835616 (will this be stable and kind to battery consumption and temp)
so once downloaded where do i put it and what do i need to change to get it working
Why don't you read through the overclocking module from G2 thread in de DHD dev section?
I have my DHD for 3 weeks and this is my first android phone. I got it to work following that thread.
really simple
So, the title says it all.
I'm curious about what governor do all you guys use??
Place your vote here.
Also, feel free to comment why you choose your governor!

Lagfree, on Marc's Kernel. Awesome, but not in your poll.....
I think this should be moved to q&a.
My favorite: smartassv2
Why? It includes a stanby management, is stable and fast.

You shoulda posted in Q&A
But i use smartassv2 with my OWN custom settings and i use it because it gets great performance with amazing battery life
I am still working between different settings on TBD. Lagfree with Marc's kernel is good but I am now working with smartassv2 with custom settings. So far so good
Lagfree 128 - 1190
btw, this should be in the Q&A
It sucks that majority of governors have no description, so only way to decide between them is through trial and error (which is very tedious given the number of governors and differences may only be placebo) or by reading other's recommendations.
I was using convervative with a heavily customized settings, then smartass/V2/smoothass (switching between them, AFAIK they are very similar anyway), but now I'm testing Hyper as it's default on new DORIMANX.

Not sure if this is a thread to post this sort of problems...
Anyway, at the moment I got a HD2 running flawlessly HyperDroid-CM7-v5.9.0 with smartassV2 governor and I'm very happy with it.
The problem is that as soon as I switch to for example interactiveX governor I start getting freezes where the phone is left screen on and nothing else working.
I've been previously dual booting wp7 and android sd. Back then I had same sorts of freezes on android but would just tweak my auto memory killer to less aggressive settings to not get freezes. I'm a bit confused on this but after all quite sure that this is about something else than memory related problem.
Any ideas?
I have also tried few of these governors, but I think that there is no big difference between the better ones like hyper, ondemand etc. just a placebo when somebody release "new" governor
Hi to every one..just asking about the max freq level of defy CPU that can tolerate without damaging and with long battery life using overclocking method? and which is the best CPU setting for defy including best device performance and battery live?
thanks
this is such a subjective question...everyone has their own setup that works best for them because each defy unit is different. The best thing you can do is search this forum for OC/UV settings that people have used successfully and vary those for your own device.
also, this belongs in 'Defy Q&A'..

Hey I'm kind of noob at this but like does anyone know what the best ROM and Kernel when installed on the same nexus 4 lets me undervolt and gives me the best battery life?
Thanks
Hello Noob,
First off I would like to say you can't ask that question around here. It's just not allowed.
You need to find out what's best for you. Try all the kernels and roms and experiment with it. That's is part of the process of being here on XDA forums. I'm positively sure all or if not most of the kernels here has the ability to undervolt. To curb the misconception, i just want to say that undervolting does little to no power saving at all.

Hey people, this is my first post.
So basically this post is for people still using xperia x8 / w8.
TIPS to increase performance :
1. Install a custom ROM (with a custom kernel). It's no use installing a ROM on stock kernel because it's not very fast and battery life is low too ( I like Minicm7 and Minicm10)
2. After installing the kernel and rom, install a nice launcher. (LauncherPro for gingerbread and nova /apex for ice cream sandwich or jelly bean).
3. Tweak cyanogenmod performance settings : increase vm heap size, allow purging of assets, disable surface dithering, set cpu governor to smartassv2. Overclock if you want but not too much.
4. Use v6 supercharger script. (easy to follow and works great). Do it only if you have custom kernel, because on stock it asks to update busybox which soft bricks the phone).
5. Use autostart manager to remove unnecessary apps from boot.
6. Install apps that you need.
7. Enable "long press to kill apps" in development and kill after you use them like browsers etc.
8. Don't use task killer.
Battery life tips (I assume you are on custom ROM with custom kernel) :
1. Use setcpu and enable profiles. Make the following
A) Screen off - Set Minimum and maximum values of clock the lowest.
B) Battery levels - Choose the maximum to any value below 600 mhz but above 320 when say, the level is less than 40 percent or maximum 480 when the level drops below 50 percent.
2. Make sure you uninstall Dsp manager with titanium backup or root uninstaller.
It sucks lots of battery.
3. Don't set auto brightness.
4. Keep vm heap size to 32.
5. Set governor to on-demand using set cpu for all profiles. AS WELL as for normal usage. (where there are sliders)
6. You may use antutu battery saver. It may or may not work for you.
7. Use v6 supercharger script.
That's it. Press thanks if I helped.

I appreciate you for the effort you made.
But there are already many threads about it and also I think that most of the x8 users do have knowledge of these basic things..
Cheers..

Sir, Thank you for your review and the beer Yes I am aware of the fact that many people know about it but are tired going through many threads so I compiled a list. That's all.
Exactly this thread will be helpful for noobs much. Nice info

@op you may want to review some info. for example, for performance, smartassv2 isn't really the best choice (interactive or ondemand, anyone?). you may also want to remove v6 supercharger since noobs will ultimately ask a lot of questions about it (specially ics/jb users). conversely, ondemand is NOT the best choice if you want to save battery. it has a hair trigger that jumps to max freq and stays there for a long time (like interactive but with different conditions for scaling iirc). there are also lighter launchers than nove/apex/launcherpro. uninstalling or freezing unused apps can also help performance instead of trying to kill them (specially with apps that simply restart themselves). you also have the undervolt option. and updating busybox will not necessarily cause issues if you're on custom kernel. i've updated mine on cm7&10 without issues. i do think gdx (at least on stock kernel) bootloops if you update it. as daggre said, we already have lots of tuts about this, so it would be best to give accurate info or else it will just confuse users.
Hey i heard that if i use my sd card for page file i can increase ram or something like that but is it safe i heard that sd card life will get decreased

Yes you can use Swapper 2. Useful only if you use class 6 SD card or above. otherwise no use.

Sorry for the mistakes. I wrote smartass v2 because interactive sucks too much battery and isn't practical to use. I would like to delete the thread. I'm new here so please tell me how. I will update the facts and then write

you'll have to ask a mod to delete the thread. why not just update it though? it's a good thread for new guys. just update some info and you're good to go.
