I have this problem.
when im in conversation, the volume is very low. but when im listening to music is much higher.
does anyone have this problem as well?
I know its not a reception problem, since i've tried to talk from same place to the same number (which is land line) with WM and with ANDROID.
I am experiencing the same problem. Maybe we need an Audio Gain driver.

I think in general Android in call volume is low.
I also experience this with Nexus One.
I did install WOW SRS on the HD2 WM rom and it seems to increase the volume of Android running on it.
Can someone confirm this on their devices?
do you feel diffrent in android as well or only in WM?
for me its low only in incoming calls but its good in outgoing calls, any idea why ? people said it a wenn known issue in android and has been solved here , i search a lot with no luck .

Same problem for me too.
I've noticed a similar problem with loudspeaker too, but in this case, disabling and enabling the loudspeaker during the call usually solves the problem.

You must have the ringer on. The rule of thumb is this.
If the speaker is on (playing something) when a call is made/received. There is low volume in call.
50/50 when you are dialing out. You have the dial touch tone disabled or there was enough time for the speaker to re-gain control (<---?) and thus the call volume is good.
I am praying this issue gets fix pronto.. ... I live in a very very noisy city and I can barely hear the earpiece.

well, my problem is in both calls, the volume for it is lower than WM volume
I guess there is no solution for it for now, might be better later (hopefully).
During the call turn speaker on then off real quick this will raise the volume for you
Hello
A simple solution that worked for me was... Settings>Sound Then turn off audible touch tones. Got this from another member the other day.
I currently have this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=904762&highlight=FrankinstineDROIDv1.5
It's flashed through DFT. I have read a lot of threads where people have had too loud in-call volume. But mine is extremely low. When I'm in a room with two people talking to each other, I can't hear the other person. (NO it's not my hearing )
Any suggestions or known fixes? I'd prefer to keep the ROM and just fix the problem. If you are suggesting a fix, could you please also include instructions, or a link to an instructional thread.
Thanks
hi
i have same rom ,,, u can try this ,,, go to setting ,, then click on sound ,,,after that go straight down on feedback section ,,,, uncheck all of them ,,, and restart ur phone ,,, it works on mine ,,, u try too,,, did u have a problem with low speaker volume.... like ringtone or music volume is low ,,, so download the dsp manager from internet ,,,,,,it will increase ur speaker volume
Hey ok so I tried it, but i'll have to test it in a loud environment, and no my speaker and music volume are absolutely fine, it's just the other person's voice during a call... anyways i'll see how it goes! Thanks for the help!

i have the same problem when i answer a call my volume is very low even if i put it on speaker it will still be low..im running coredroid 1.6
1st post!!! i think.
I am having the same problem you guys are having but I think that my phone is only using the speakerphone speaker even when it's set to earpiece speaker. I have tried pretty much every sd rom and i get the same speaker issue. I cant help but think this is a simple setting. I have unchecked the feedback settings but I have not installed dsp manager that nkfrompk suggested because I don't think I need louder volume, I think it is only using the speakerphone speaker.
any help would be awesome. Maybe you guys can check yours to see if it's only using the speakerphone also.
Ok so I disabled all of the feedbacks, even though all except "haptic" were already unchecked. But I haven't noticed any difference.
My phone isn't using the speaker phone, but when I do use the speaker phone the volume is completely fine, the only time I have a problem is while using the phone normally.
If any of you guys figure something out, please share!
thanks

Does it sound to you like the speakerphone is working when the earpiece should be?
I switched phones using the same sd card with android on it and it booted no problem and the speakers work as they should.
nope, it doesn't sound like that
Is there a fix for this, my girl is tired of the low volume why on the phone

Nahh, sorry man, I'm still searching for a fix. The unchecking all feed backs seemed to improve it the slightest bit. Or might have just been a mental thing. But nothing to make the volume a comfortable level.
anyone has a fix?
So, it seems I have finally found out how to adjust the microphone volume on the phone.
I have posted the instructions on my blog. If you try the solution it please respond if it works or not.
This might be veey interesting. I changed 88 to 100 but will only be able to talk to someone tomorrow.
From personal experience both sgs ans sgs2 have low treble input sent to peer. Ots annoying.
Posted from Galaxy S II
tried, we will see...
Interesting, there's an option for speaker receive volume too...
I tried it but it didn't work on audio recording (Hi-Q MP3 Recorder).
There is some way to adjust mic volume of voice recording?, My old SGS recordings were a lot louder than on my new SGSII.
Great thank you so much for the post. It helped me out.

MY SGS2 DOES NOT HAVE THIS VOLUME ISSUE! PEOPLE HEAR ME VERY WELL, SOMETIMES THEY ACTUALLY LOWER THE VOLUME IT IS SO LOUD!!!
Seriously, how much better does it get? I am not in a noise free environment at the moment, how big of a gain does this produce? Does this fix work with the genuine wired headphones?
i thought this fix was temporary only, after a phone reboot the fix resets to default ?

I must admit...in all the smartphone that i have ever used.....This is the only phone that i have never rebooted except when flashing roms/kernels etc...
I never reboot! I did today, because I wanted to calibrate the battery for the first time and I let it die. So I let it die after 24 hours of use, and then when it turned on it rebooted
I love my phone

It works but sadly as others have already mentioned, after a reboot, you have to re enter the settings, which is the only draw back, and am one of those who reboots the phone on a daily. Is there any way of making this permanent even following a reboot?. I can imagine its probably difficult, but thought I'd ask anywhere. Thanks op.
I'm actually looking for a way to lower the input gain, as my voice comes out distorted on the other side. Any clues? Besides the obvious "Turn 88 into something lower, I tried 70 and didn't work"
I don't know how the values can be saved so that they survive a restart. Personally I only restart my phone when it runs out of battery, or if I've done flashing that requries a reboot. If I need to disconnect from the real world airplane mode is used.
So, has anyone had any luck using this method? Seems to work for me.

That's quite the opposite problem Other than what you tried I have no idea. Sounds like a faulty device?

Actually, I tried 20 yesterday, and it did solve my problem!
Now sound is crisp and undistorted!
The question is,
1. How to make it stick reboot.
2. What do the rest of the volumes do? Vol0_1 0_2 0_3 etc, you suggested to edit number 5. Why specifically that one?
1. Still a mystery
2. My guess is that there are certain levels of output, and that all of them should be adjusted according to the other to have a linear line. The fact that I wrote that only 5 should be edited was simply because that worked for me.
First, great thanks hpe !!
I got my phone 2 days ago and got same problem.
ppl could not hear me well.
I tried your solution, hope it will help (tried 1-2 calls and seems ok).
I have noticed also that when you talk you should be
stable with your hand and your face , I mean,
it should be with fix distance between the mouth and phone, not important the distance but it should be stable during the call, if not the AGC comes up and down and the other side can't hear you well...
About save setting,
Maybe there is ini file or something (rooted phone) that can be changed to keep value after reboot, I have noticed in the 2 days I have the phone that I had to reboot phone after install application to get it works well.
I've follow the hpe solution but i still have volume problem
My specific problem is:
On Normal Mic call > very low volume... on my SGS2 with android 2.3.3
But with Speaker call > clear (no problem)
Very strange!! I can't be able to solve this problem.
I'd like to precise that with other voip app like bria or "csip simple" i have no problem, mic volume is perfect..

Speaker call uses different mic settings (since you've a higher distance between your mouth and the mic while using speaker), so it might just the "normal mic call" volume setting which fails.
I have understand and many thanks for your reply but it's strange that those settings works perfectly with the other voip applications..
Hi, guys
Have big issue with incall volume, on every nand androids which i flashed in last 2 day have almost non possibe to hear other person.
When putting call on speaker its normal volume and can here everything.
Problem started after few days while using miui hd android.
Searched this section of forum and didnt find any working solution.
Tried this:
Task29 provided by doloop
Reinstalling DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF
Reinstalling Cwm 3.x.x AND 5.0.2.7 Recovery
Tried different Flash.cfg partition size
Tried around 10 diffferent nand roms
But allways same results, very low incall sound, normall speaker sound.
Is this maybe hardware failure?
Doesn maybe changing to some Radio would fix issue even i use current radio till now without any issue for almost 2 years.
Radio rom which use is: Radio Leo 2.15.50.14
Any advice is wellcome, ty in advance.

I don't see what it can be other than hardware failure, but if you try Volume+ you can increase the volume of your mic/headset by a lot (although you will have to trade off some sound quality at the higher ranges). Is it just the in-call volume or the volume when playing music aloud as well? Might help deduce whether it's a hardware or software fault. My dad's old iPhone 2G (I've been pestering him to get an upgrade for ages) has an issue where it detects something plugged into the headphone jack even when it's not there. Maybe your phone is doing a similar thing?
Shortly:
Calls which are on speakerphone works and its clear and loud
Notification, ringtones working clear and loud
Music is playing and sound loud and normal.
Calls on headset sound loud and normal
In call volume is very low(when call isnt putted on speakerphone), hard to hear person even when volume is up fully.

Well in that case it isn't hardware failure and I honestly don't know why it would happen so randomly. Try messing with the call settings in the settings menu and see what you can change that might solve your issue. For example, try turning off the dial tones (or whatever they're called) and haptic feedback etc., it's helped others in the past judging by what I could find.
fix permissions in cwm should work. u can find it under advanced
i dont think its hardware related from what you say.maybe you are unlucky and have problems with the specific rom.
if you cant adjust it from the settings on the phone, there are some apps on the market that let you adjust all the sound related features (volume control+,audio manager and many more).
then you can try reflashing your rom (clean install preferred after you do a backup)
if that fails maybe theres dust or garbage in the cracks and you should try cleaning your phone from the inside(but thats VERY risky if you dont know how to open the phone properly..)
and if everything fails then try a new rom maybe?????
Ty guys for helps and advice .Seems after a while that found source of issues, was related to Ext partition in combination with androids which use them. My card works suspicious, ill need to buy new one, this time ill stick with Sandisk type, current is Toshiba's card micro hc version which from start didn't gave me some good reliability on hd2.

Hello everyone,
I've just installed JB CM10 RC2 by PolishVodka, ROM works fine, but i can't hear the voice of person I call. I have also flashed all fixes included in main thread, but it does not solve my problem. Of course before installation I have fully wiped my phone via Recovery (latest verion), resized partitions etc. On GB/ICS roms I haven't noticed this problem. I would like to use this JB rom as my daily, so please help me!

Would you mind if I post about PolishVodkas rom here? My problem may be somewhat related to yours: the sounds (except music) are always on the speaker, even if headphones are plugged in. ANd when there is a call incoming the phone behaves like headphones are unplugged and plays all sound through speaker, thats mean music AND the ringtone of icoming call.
If this rom werent so fast and stable I would just forget about it and flashed something else, but I really would love to stay with it. PolishVodka - hope you read it.

You're welcome, P.G.R I have reported my problem directly to PolishVodka . He told me, that some users have encountered described problem with phone calls, but on his phone everything works fine, so it's pretty hard for him to find the source of this bug. Anyway I have good news - during the call let's try to set the volume higher or lower by +/- buttons. I've done it once and problem disappeared permamently I haven't tested headphones, but maybe this little PolishVodka's trick solves all sound problems

Good, but, meanwhile, Ive returned to AOSP2 and it is super fast, its weird that no one uses it as a base for their 2.3.7 roms (most seems to base their work on SDSL, which was always too "jerky" for me...)
That explains why I got no sound while I was getting called.
