[Q] HTC Magic bricked - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi guys ! My name is Erwan, i'm from Paris.
I have a HTC Magic ("with Google" at the back).
Here are the description :
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013d (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.27.08
I made a HUGE mistake when i was thinking i could install something new on my phone without understanding it well. So now, you are my only hope.
So, what i've done :
1. I made a SuperWipe on my phone
2. I installed the new radio and the new hboot from this topic.
3. I was unable to boot from my Amon Ra 1.7 to perform the Yoshi ROM setup.
I went on google and this forum to search over and over why this thing didn't work and i guess that's because i'm with S-ON.
Now, i have nothing on my sdcard (not even a small *.zip). I can access it from another phone (a Blackberry) to put things on it.
The question is : how can i un-brick my phone ?
I'm just so desperate atm...
edit 1 : i tried to copy the Yoshi 1.5 rom on my SD card, rename into update.zip, then put my sdcard on, HOME + Power on my phone and i get this message : E: No signature E: Verification failed.
edit 2 : C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\tools>fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.717s]
booting...
[waiting forever and nothing happen]

that does not sound like a brick. if you have accses to recovery then just flash a signed rom and you should be good, but if you are stuck without a recovery then just got to "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139"
and read the part about being stuck without recovery, it will tell you to flash the .nbh by placing it on the root of your sdcard and boot to fastboot and let it flash.
Below is what your looking for on the linked fourm.
If you find yourself stuck without recovery!!
Dream
1) Download: orange-1.58.73.2.nbh (MD5: aca4dee0c1ece7e9773f2ecbdfbba7c0) (mirror)
2) enter fastboot and run 'fastboot flash nbh orange-1.58.73.2.nbh'
3) wait for the entire nbh to flash
4) boot into the bootloader again (it will be an engineering SPL 1.42.2000)
5) You can now re-flash the radio/hboot/recovery via fastboot that you wish to have installed.
Sapphire (MT3G)
1) Download SAPPIMG.nbh
2) enter fastboot and run 'fastboot flash nbh SAPPIMG.nbh'
3) Continue as per one click (flashreq) root instructions: http://www.getyourdroidon.com/wiki/i...One_Click_Root

[Q] Cannot turn security off (S-OFF) on rooted Rogers 32A Magic

I've rooted my Magic, got Cyanogenmod running nicely, etc. I was then trying to flash a new splash screen, and noticed that my security in fastboot shows as begin on (S-ON). Sure enough it wouldn't let me flash the splash screen, it said the signature was not valid.
So, I tried flashing every single engineering SPL possible, and it never changes to off.
Here is my info from the fastboot/hboot screen.

That's what I've done. I've flashed every single engineering hboot file I can find and each one still shows S-ON during fastboot/hboot, and I"m unable to flash through fastboot.
Follow these steps (you should find it in this Mytouch Room)
1. Create your goldcard.
2. Comeback to 1.5 version by flashing rom 1.5 from goldcard.
3. Install Recovery Flasher (RF).
4. Run RF, chose Flash Cyanogen 1.4 img
5. Copy new E-SPL to root of Sdcard, Boot to Recovery mode, flash this file SPL
6. You can flash new recovery img (like 1.7.0G) by fastboot mode through your PC.
Check your new SPL now and S-ON becomes S-OFF.
I've successed on Magic 32B with perfect SPL 1.33.0006 and S-ON.

If this currently a 1.33.20** spl with s=off and a custom recovery can you please do the following
Run 'adb shell dump_image misc /tmp/misc_dat.img'
Then
'adb pull /tmp/misc_dat.img misc_dat.img'
Then send me the resulting image somehow (pm me a rapid share link or ask for my email.. there ought not be any identifiably info in misc but just in case)
This may or may not clear up why there is an issue.. and let a better process to fix it be created.. untill then try unrooting (or installing a stock spl) and re-rooting as was mentioned, just onto forget radio versions may change in the process requiring caution not to skip ahead of yourself and brick.
UPDATE:
So I got the file, misc was nearly all blank without the usual data (boot mode, CID and some other data) this is easily fixed by re-flashing misc from recovery.. I think this can even be made into an update.zip.. (since all magic/dream misc partitions are essentially the same besides the CID, and the CID is still being passed to the recoveries command line when stuck in this state.

I flashed the 2.22.23.02 through fastboot by mistake and now I can't get into recovery mode, or flash any other radios onto the phone. The fastboot menu is the only thing I can get to on the phone.
I tried reflashing the 2.22.23.02 again but it won't go through...
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to unbrick it?
Edit: Tried sappimg.nbh via volume down and power button but i get a Model ID error. Now i can't fastboot anything over to my phone.
Edit: Flashed the sappimg.nbh, sappimg 2.16.707.3, sappimg 2.53.707.2, via gold card but I now get the error: Main Version is older!
I have answered similar questions before...
Use the search function.
But to get you started here is a quick solution.
1) flash eng spl that starts with 1.33.20XX where XX can be 05,09 or 10.
Restart into fastboot.
2) flash the right spl/radio/recovery combo.
This is confirmed to work....
Next time post ALL fastboot info... there are some info mission in your post!

I have just tried flashing hboot-1.33.2010 via fastboot.
However, I get the error message:
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... FAILED (remote: not allow)
do this:
----- If you boot into fastboot and have issues with "fastboot:remote not allow", then your SPL won't work. Upgrade to Engineering SPL before continuing.
----- If you do not have an Engineering SPL, download 1.33.2010 and flash through recovery before starting this procedure. Flash the SPL update.zip like any other update.zip file.
in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239
Unfortunately... I can't boot into recovery either, nor can i push a recovery image to the phone. I get the same error: "fastboot:remote not allow".
ok... you are very limited...
Do this:
Find a suitable sappimg.nbh... Not sappimg.zip...
Use this which i just uploaded for you:
http://rapidshare.com/files/421772202/SAPPIMG.nbh
Using your goldcard flash the sappimg.nbh in fastboot.
The sappimg.nbh does not need any unzipping... it's a complete img of the nand and overwrites everything.
I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere....
is there a way to create a goldcard at this point for me?
I can't get into debug mode on the phone (for obvious reasons) and therefore can't do adb....
Find ANY android device and make a goldcard...
Then use the goldcard on your device...
wouldn't suppose anyone have the goldcard.img from their email that they could send me...
1)Download the -G magic RA recovery
2) rename it to recoveryG.img
3) run 'fastboot boot recoveryG.img' (with the phone in fastboot mode)
4) allow recovery to boot then run the following adb commands
Code:
adb push recoveryG.img /tmp/recoveryG.img
adb flash_image recovery /tmp/recoveryG.img
5) Now power down the phone
6) boot into recovery by holding home+power
10) flash 1.33.2009 or 1.33.2010
Now you will have fastboot again
Most likely you will want to find and flash via fastboot radio 3.22.20.17 if you are not a Rogers/Fido customer or have signed the e911 wavier, otherwise you want 3.22.26.17..
After flashing the 3.x radio flash RA -h recovery via fastboot (and while in fastboot run 'fastboot erase system -w'); this will let you flash the ebi1 rom of choice
I just downloaded the recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
renamed it so recoveryG.img.
When i try to run the command: fastboot boot recoveryG.img
I get the error message:
downloading 'boot.img'...FAILED (remote: not allow)
Then its best to just install the official e911 ruu from rogers and re-root
I have tried that, but it doesn't work...

Yes, I'm also not sure why people are ignoring that fact that you can't use fastboot either :-S
My bad, using my phone and completely missed the first page.
EDIT: I think mum was on the right track. Your going to need a goldcard. No one will be able to send you their .img because its SD card specific. You don't know anyone with a Android based phone?

Looks like i'm getting progress....?
I have a gold card now thanks to my friend, however...
when I try to flash the SAPPIMG.nbh I get a Main Version is older!
I also tried the 2.53.707.2 SAPPIMG.zip and I still get this error.
I also just tried 2.16.707.3 SAPPIMG.zip and I still get this error.
YOU ARE STILL MAKING THE GOLDCARD THE WRONG WAY...
You should not get that error msg...
Try to remake the goldcard.
Did it on two different SD cards, the same way I did it before to get my phone off perfected SPL... not sure what I could've done to do it wrong this time around.....
a mmc CID can't change right?

HTC Magic 32B, unable to boot or flash from fastboot

I tried to upgrade my Radio with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9055790&postcount=1
Now (after 6 hours) I'm frustrated and I dont know what to do.
My Phone says:

RADIO-2.22.16.19
I can enter fastboot, but I'm not able to boot into the recovery. Also I'm not able to flash a new recovery, radio, hboot, boot, system or userdata.
If i try to flash something:
"INFOsignatur checking... FAILED (remote: signatur verify fail)"
If i try to boot into recovery:
"downloading 'boot.img' ... OKAY [1.703s]
booting...."
but nothing happens.
If i try to flash SAPPIMG.nbh it stucks on flashing radio.
Im really really frustrated and I hope someone can help me.
I've never seen that radio before. What I can tell you is that your going to have to downgrade using the goldcard method. You'll have to borrow a friends Android phone to make the goldcard. I'm sure by the time you get it made someone will be able to give more in depth directions or I'll be back in front of a computer.

I have created a Goldcard, but with a CID from a German forum, because non of my friends have a Android Phone
I tried to orange-1.58.73.2.nbh and sappimg.nbh from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9055790&postcount=1 but nothing works. Both stuck on "INFOstart image[radio] flushing ..."
You can't use the CID from another user. The CID is unique to the SD card, you need the CID for the SD card your using.

Try putting the sappimg.nbh on your sdcard and then holding down the volume down + the power button and it should ask you to install and just press the scroll ball and it should fix your problem.
No its Bricked ;-)
But i found someone with an JTAG Interface.
Plz close
i am having similar trouble after:
* Format the Micro SD Card to FAT32.
* Copy the SAPPIMG.nbh file to the Micro SD Card.
* With the phone off, hold volume down and press power to boot into the bootloader.
* Once the bootloader is loaded, press power to install.
* Press the trackball to continue and press talk+menu+power to reboot.
I get:

2]bootloader
3]splash
4]recovery
5]boot
6]system
7]userdata
Do you want to start update?
yes
no
so i select yes and it says:

I also have a magic (32B) and with the 1.33.0013d SPL I had a similar problem.
You need to read the first message of the 2708+ thread to the end to read how to flash to an old SPL (but you found that already).
I can only guess why you should try a G1 SPL or an 32A SPL on your phone since it seems like a recipe to brick the device. I reverted back to the SPL available from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019
Since I had previous experience with the 2005 engineering-version I went for that one.
Did you also try to 2708+ to upgrade to Gingerbread?
All you did was correct but as DonJuan692006 said, you need a goldcard.
If you are running ubuntu you'll find a very simple tutorial (but in french) looking for didier.misson.net and golcard with google.
Good luck.
O-p
I have a similar problem.
I can't start ADB and I have no boot partition. Only FASTBOOT and HBOOT can be started.

The sapphire Unknown 32a is what usually happens when you put the 1.33.20XX SPLs on a MT2.1/Fender phone with the audio jack.
for all the functionality of the MT2.1/Fender to work you must use the 1.33.0013/1.33.0013d SPLs.
First install adb/fastboot on your PC if you do not already have the programs installed. (Search for it since I just build/put the linux binaries on my path)
Download dream_2708kit.zip
Unzip the dream_2708kit.zip on your PC; you will see 2 files:
>> hboot-1.33.0013d.img (MD5: c35ff1159828a6186cb98a9cfaa81613) Place this somewhere easy to access (such as on your C: drive if you have windows)
>> radio-2.22.27.08.img This file is not needed delete it
Download [http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img]recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img[/URL] (MD5: 8b3b5ff90575eba0c5bfc13c0fa6b8ea) (file from this thread)
Place recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img in the same place as you did hboot-1.33.0013d.img
Open your command line/terminal on your PC and run (per your fastboot instructions) the following:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase system -w
(note if you placed recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img and hboot-1.33.0013d.img on your C: drive make sure you either are in C: when calling fastboot at the command line, or easier just provide the full path to the file eg: fastboot flash recovery C:\recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img)
Now you ought to have the correct SPL and recovery
You can now power off (press menu on the phone) and then boot into recovery (press home while turning on)
Once in recovery flash a rom as usual;
if the files are not on the root of your SD card mount the MS Card via recovery to your computer then copy into the root of the sdcard:
>>in the case of ginger yoshi:
ginger yoshi 1.2.1 fix 1.zip (from the media file link on the ginger yoshi OP)
ezgb-2636-v1.5_S.zip (from here)
Then eject the sdcard on your computer (on windows that’s: safely remove hardware)
Then flash the ginger yoshi 1.2.1; in recovery followed by the kernel
>>in the case of ezGingerbread:
From the second post get:
GINGERBREAD-DS-Beta-20110716.zip AND gapps-mdpi-gb-20110709_S.zip
Then eject the sdcard on your computer (on windows that’s: safely remove hardware)
Then flash the Beta followed by the gapps
(Note I'm not the one to ask about any problems with adb/fastboot on windows; Also I don't particularly support ginger yoshi, my ezGingerbread rom eats plenty of my time.. so make sure you ask any questions here and don't PM me .. as you will get a reply much faster posting here)

Download the recovery image again, it seems to be corrupted or somehow broken. If you want to be sure, check its MD5 hash if it is correct
I solved my problem. It turned out that after flashing the SPL, my security had reactivated, so it was a simple matter of loading sapp.img up again. For some reason though, after flashing a new recovery onto my phone, my phone won't boot into it... If anyone knows of a way to flash ginger yoshi using fastboot, please share!
Proper Kernal for Ginger Yoshi
A solution I have found to getting the Ginger Yoshi ROM on a MyTouch 1.2 with a 3.5 jack is to after you flash the ROM, flash the Proper Kernal for the MyTouch 1.2 over the ROM.
I don't have the link for the right Kernal offhand,
but I have been using Ginger Yoshi since 1.2 or 1.3 by doing that, and am currently using the 1.5.
If you PM me I can send you the kernal I use and you can try it.

[Q] Magic - Fastboot: FAILED (remote: not allowed)

Hi there,
I'd like to update to a newer Android Version. So as I read I have to flash a new recovery first. I tried to create a gold card in order to flash this new recovery but I still get an error when I use fastboot.
I read several tutorials and threads in this forum but i couldn't find the right answer. I hope someone can help me.
Is there a problem with a "ScanDisk" gold card...?

You said you have a Goldcard already, right?
Also, only do this if your Magic is a 32B. If it's a 32A, you're bricked for life (and I'm not responsible). It says on the fastboot screen which you are.
If it is a 32B, get the first download from the NBH/ZIP section of this thread <a href=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218>here</a> (Make sure to read the warnings at the top) and put it on your normal SD card.
Then, boot into HBOOT mode by either
1. Booting into Fastboot mode and pushing volume down.
2. Booting phone with volume down pressed.
It should find the sappimg after a minute. If not, make sure the sappimg is on the SD card not in any folders and also that it's named SAPPIMG.zip.
Choose yes to all the questions. If it has an error, reboot and try again or try it on a Goldcard.
Now fastboot should work and you can do whatever.

1.33.0013 is perfected SPL, remote commands are disabled in this hboot.
If you have custom recovery (AmonRa or Clockworkmod), then you are lucky.
If not, then you must install official ROM: 3.12.531.1 T-Mobile USA FRG83D
http://www.4shared.com/file/j64ygA9t/RUU_Sapphire_T-Mobile_US_31253.html
After that, you can root phone with SuperOneClick, then install custom recovery, and custom rom (via custom recovery)
I already rooted using superone click but my phone wont boot after I tried to flash a rom how do I get it to boot up and work again I'm freaking out oh an I have clockwork recorvery image that's how I tried to flash the rom but i dont have a goldcard can i still use the same method can u give me a walk through or is there a way using clockwork mod

If you have custom recovery - just flash custom rom via it.
P.s. but choose appropriate rom (with tags 32b)
