It's there somehow that my dvp could be hsdpa locked ir 3g locked, my sin gets 3g icon on the top on other phones bit there is no way I can get it on mine. How could that be?
If you are on mango:
Settings -> Cellular -> Scroll down and check (slide) the 3G connection
I have the 3G option ON.

Updated to mango a few days ago, didn't tried without mango.
I guess is oem unlocked, no AT&T or t-mobile branding or apps related or nothing.
I'm in a carrier on Costa Rica, they use here HSDPA 850mhz, ALSO tried a wp7 samsung focus at&t branded but unlocked and it GETS 3G and high speed internet with my sim!!! please help!!
Which dell venuo pro do you have. Do you have the ATT or the TMO version? TMO isn't going to work with your provider.
How do I know that? I don´t see anything on the hardware or software related to AT&T or T-mobile or any else, its oem unlocked I guess.
I got and app called "System View" it says under hardware/network/ 2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900, 3G HSDPA 850/1900/2100
I must be missing something
could it be a defective unit??

If you see TMO on that screen you likely have a Tmobile version of the phone and it is not compatible with your carrier. The ATT version is what you wanted.
yes I have the TMO option, and I thought every dvp has the TMO option on the EM. Now I feel ripped off with this phone, are you sure just Tmobile has TMO option on EM?
If the answer is yes then, I'm selling my DVP, someone needing one?
Thanks for your time by the way.
Ever since I upgraded to Mango I haven't had 3g either. It has no 3g APN settings at all. Does anybody have those settings?

So I just did this and it does say TMO. This phone was purchased through AT&T though. I wasn't the person who it was through but it was purchased from AT&T. Does that just mean I'm screwed? Before I upgraded to Mango, it would sometimes go to 3g but only for a little bit then switch right back.
Hmm well I was wrong. My Bad.
Well can somebody post their AT&T 3g APN settings?
I always search APNs names for Costa RIcan provider on google,
For at&t I found this:
APN_______________User Name___________________________Password
wap.cingular [email protected]_________________cingular1
[email protected]_____________________cingular1
Custom____________ APN-specific_______________________ APN-specific
http://developer.att.com/developer/forward.jsp?passedItemId=1700008
But still, I have my APN configured, and I'm not getting 3G, how is that "System Info" app gets that bands information?, its the only source I have, and even it says 850mhz for hsdpa I can't get it to work here.
That doesn't match the fields my phone has. These are the fields
APN
User name
Password
Proxy server/URL
Proxy port
I just use APN in CR, no user or password, neither proxy.
So I got tired of trying to figure this out, so I deleted the APN completely (which had a scary warning). Instantly after that I got an "H" at the top. The speed difference is noticeable already. Maybe after I leave work it'll go to 3G. We'll see. But one things for sure. The settings it had after that update were holding it back.
I'm having same issue w/ T-Mobile's DVP on T-Mobile's network.
I'm using Simple Mobile which uses T-Mobile's Network & I can't seem to get the 3G Data to work.
Any advice on Fixing this or config. setting I need to input? The Phone is Unlock BTW.
I've tried restoring to nodo from mango official, hard reset the phone twice also, nothing, the only difference now is that the intro pic to the EM app was a cup, now is a dog ?
Hi, i wanted to know if there's any difference in the firmwares apart from wifi thethering on telstra, i also notice that colors are changed
telstra is my recommendation.
Thanks! I finally tried all the firmware versions, and this is what I learnt, in case anybody alse needs this info
att : works ok, but i have problems with wifi, the connections drops, not sure why. Also, it is missing some other features i need, for example, it doesnt have an option to say if the sms was sent or not...here in argentina that is necessary because service is the worst possible
telstra: has wifi tethering, but colors are horrible
bell canada: has everything i need and also doesnt show a an image while booting which is great, it looks like a debranded phone
With the Bell ROM you may have issues with MMS not being set up.
Also, it lacks internet sharing and ability to connect to hidden APNs
Hi, I cant seem to switch my phone to 4g / LTE. I've tried the various *# hacks like LTE only, but i only get 'Not supported'. Anyone else experiencing this? I was using 4g and getting 4g speeds on my N5. The phone was previously locked and I unlocked it straight away after receiving it.
The software version is D80210g-234-30
Anyone?
im also interested on how to fix this. anyone?
Turns out it was just a problem with the sim / network I was using (Tesco (o2)). When I tried with another 4g sim the options for LTE showed just fine

It was a problem with my network provider, nothing to do with the phone. Try another 4g sim from another network and see if you get 4g / LTE
I contacted LG today about the 4G issues that many experience and I thought I should share the official response:
Many Thanks for your email regarding your LG G2, I am sorry to hear you are experiencing problems in receiving 4G.
Can I just ask whom your network provider is? All main UK network providers bar a couple are receiving 4G via our handset, there are only a few 4G networks at the moment who are yet to approve the software on the G2. Please note it is not a limitation of the handset but is network dependent
The above will also explain why some other people in the area are getting it, their networks are almost certainly among those whom have approved the software on the G2 handset.
I look forward to your earliest response with the network provider, once received we should be able to clarify this for you.

Hi, I have recently upgraded my phone to a sim free LG G2 also, and in doing so spoke to Tesco Mobile about receiving a new 4G sim to match my upgraded tariff.
This has all been put in place but I still have no ability to select LTE in the preferred network section. New APN settings were sent out by Tesco but this didnt make any additional setting options available, has anyone got any more info on this issue or advice?

You probably also have an non-EUR software version installed on your G2. Where did you buy it from?
If the above stands, the solution is to flash the EUR software version, although I haven't as I do not really need 4G for the time being. 3G is completely fine.

The handset was purchased from Expansys in the UK and the software is version D80220b-EUR-XX.
So I would not have expected that this issue would come up, it seems to be a unique blend of Tesco(UK) carrier settings and the handset software.
I won't be flashing any new ROM as a solution for a problem which sits with the carrier. Though I am keen to hear if any other users have found an alternative work around.

You already have a EUR software version, so you do not have to flash.
There is a problem with some carriers in the UK not approving the G2 4G software as I have stated above.
Had the same problem.
Changed the SIM for a new one (still labelled 3G 128k) and 4G is fine now (stock JB D802 SIM free).
My previous SIM was almost from the turn of the century (cut to fit microSIM)
I'm having the same problem, no LTE option, here's a solution:
Enter Android test menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#*
Go to Phone Information ... Set preffered network type ... f.e. to LTE/GSM/WCDMA ... if LTE is available, my phone switches to LTE ( showing 4G ) immediately without restarting.
This is what I did

New Working method to fix 4g on D802
I recently upgraded from Marshmallow to N (7.0.0), and cannot see the WiFi Calling settings at all in Settings>More under Wireless & Networks. I see Airplane mode, NFC, Android Beam, Tethering & portable hotspot, VPN, and Cellular networks, in that order. I am on a rooted stock rom. Has anyone else experienced this? For the record, I was not able to see this feature on Marshmallow either, and upgraded to see if it would become available for me on N.
it's in the phone>settings>calls
Thank you so much - this is now working for me on 7.0.0
Does this setting auto hide if the carrier doesn't support it? I'm on GoPhone and I don't see that.
Is there an ADB command to get this enabled on the 6P? The carrier has told me they are only covering some but not all handsets and have said that the WiFi calling feature has been turned on in my account but its not showing up on the phone under calls? Is there a command line to make this appear?
I am having the same problem. It is hidden in my handset, whereas before nougat it was there, even though technically my device isn't supported. Can adb help? Thanks.
I am on Android 7.0. See software specs in attached screenshot. Three UK turned on wifi called end of January. My phone is unlocked and bought from Samsung. I don't seem to have the WiFi calling option. I have already checked that you don't need a phone bought from three, it will work with any s7 Edge.
Anyone have wifi calling working with any network on a non carrier phone? I don't see any options for it anywhere either.
Launch the phone app (I.e. The green phone icon), tap the settings option on the top right. For me it's an option just under vibrate.
I'm on EE with a phone that came direct from Samsung.

You should see what CSC/PDA the stock Three UK S7 Edge comes with, I think it is this one https://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy S7/81c4/HTS/G930FXXU1DQB7/G930FHTS1DQA4/ but you should confirm. Then flash it with Odin. It won't trip Knox or anything. You can find out how to do that here on XDA.

I did confirm with three today and have found it elsewhere on the Internet that it doesn't need three own branded firmware. So I don't really want to install it. I was part of the 7.0 beta, I wonder if that has caused issues.
Yes I'm on the same build version. I was also on the 7 beta and the only difficulty I had was locating the WiFi calling option as it used to be located through the main settings.
Do you have to opt in for WiFi calling on Three? I think I may have with EE.

Any joy with three wi fi calling s7 edge
I have updated my unlocked s7 edge as suggested by three, but no wi fi calling available, I have to walk to end of road on holiday cottage could do with a fix. Three in touch no longer works either. Did you get a solution from Samsung?
Wi-Fi Calling works only on H3G Firmware
After few nights of flashing various CSC ROMs, I can confirm that Wi-Fi calling and HD Calling on Three UK appears on H3G firmware only and it works like it should.
Here are few notes after flashing:
XEU - No Wi-Fi calling option, VoLTE icon intermittent, dropping calls after few min if started calling on 4G, keeps switching back to 3G to initiate a voice call.
BTU - No Wi-Fi Calling option, VoLTE icon appears and seems OK when calling over 4G, however no HD voice.
H3G - Wi-Fi Calling option appears in Call Settings and it works! However no VoLTE icon but for sure it makes voice calls over 4G as it initiate a voice call much faster and the radio doesn't switch back to 3G, also the HD icon appears when making a phone call to compatible service number or another phone which supports HD voice - call is sharp crystal clear like on Skype or Messenger etc.
Conclusion: To get all stuff enabled Wi-Fi Calling + VoLTE + HD Voice you need to get your phone directly from Three or flash H3G firmware to your current phone.
H3G firmware luckily hasn't got too much of a bloatware, it can be easily uninstalled or disabled
Please hit thumbs up for me :good:

I found exactly the same when I tested roms, you need the network rom to get wificalling.
I know this is an old thread but still relevant today.
I found pretty much the same thing. WiFi Calling and VoLTE on EE needs the EVR firmware (but I think it may work on BTU as well with Android 8)
3 does require the HG3 firmware
Without the correct match of firmware the option to enable WFC does not appear in phone/settings.
Others like O2 and Voda probably require their own firmware as well.
But what is really weird is if you get for example, an iPhone 6S and put a 3 card in it...WFC just works and the same with EE. No special firmware. Maybe Apple know something we don't
Do you see the WiFI Calling option in Phone Settings with Three / H3G UK firmware on a phone that works with WiFi calling? I can't see any reference to that option on the Three help pages. If so, any chance of a screenshot?
Thanks
I am in similar situation with S7 Edge which currently doesn't have an option for wifi calling. I moved from O2 to Three recently. O2 wifi calling worked and the option was there. It doesn't have the option on Three.
Does anybody know which firmware to flash which will enable this option? I've downloaded both the BTU version and H3G version for the UK. Can anyone please confirm if either of these will enable wifi calling option?
Many Thanks.

I think you have a better chance with the Three firmware, but AFAIK, the issue is that Android phones are coded to a carrier. This doesn't seem to matter with VOLTE but for some reason VOWiFi is an issue. If anyone knows how to get around this, I'd be happy to know too.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the Three firmware would be better but I was hoping someone has tried this and actually got it working. Seems odd that the phones sold direct by Three have this by default but it seems almost impossible to enable if the phone was bought elsewhere. That's why I'm wondering if the H3G firmware I found on Sammobile.com has the feature or not.

Some posts earlier in this thread say they have WiFi calling working after flashing the Three firmware. This does not work on my LG G5, but you may be luckier with a Samsung phone.

I have a couple of Samsung Galaxy S7 edge duos dual-SIM phones in which I have SIMs from different network operators or MVNOs. One is usually a Three PAYG SIM and the other is a Virgin Mobile (now VMO2) contract SIM or other MVNO PAYG SIM.
I am in a poor signal area for all of the networks despite being in a built-up urban area of Aylesbury. I currently rely on a Home Signal unit from Three to cover that network but would prefer to use Wi-Fi Calling for all networks.
What do I do about the secondary network?
Which ROM firmware should I be using?
Why doesn't all firmware enable Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE for any network?
Ofcom have banned phones being locked to a network from December 2021 but the ban does not seem to cover these issues which are tantamount to locking a device to a network.
Ofcom needs to address these issues before the end of 2021 when some networks will have withdrawn support for their Home Signal type equipment and even 3G fallback for voice calls in 4G/5G coverage areas.
