XXLPB and Go Launcher - Galaxy S II General

Ive recently installed both for first time and am getting some lag whilst using touch screen. Im trying to work out if its go launcher or this ics rom or a recently installed app. Any existing go launcher users would welcome your feedback.

It's pretty much the only launcher I use.

The LPB kernel has funky scrolling; you'll have to adjust the way you swipe, or get used to it.

It's slow on all Samsung leaked ICS ROMS.

I'm using it on andyX 5.2 and is very smooth. Rarely some slight cogging.

Have to agree with the above. I installed the stock xxlpb and I found it almost sticky like when scrolling and it was near impossible when the phone was flat on it's back. I then installed AndyX 5.2 today and it's near perfect so far.

Same here.
Using GoLauncher on 2.3.x for ages, no lag issues.
Though, IIRC it's on the S2 ICS that while TW has no lag, any other launcher will experience lag while scolling the homescreen.
No idea why, LBP didn't work at all for me, so I can't really try, I'm hoping for the next leak to come soon.

Flash the LP6 kernel to LPB to resolve the scrolling issue.

Why not just use the LPB thread to discuss this?

Interesting Question regarding Launcher Pro and Stock Launcher

After playing around with launcher Pro, i realised that the app drawer is quite laggy.
Funny thing is when i switch to the stock mode the app drawer is nice a smoood (yes Smoood lol)
Is anyone else having a similar issue ?
Hope this make sense as it seems like broken english to me ahahah
Running Froyo, Rooted, OCLF, Launcher Pro of course..
Started being laggy for me after froyo upgrade, using zeam at the minute with no lag at all.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
whats Zeam mate ?
It is a launcher similar to launcher pro but free, very lightweight it is on the market i think there is a thread on here about it aswell. I can recommend it pal.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
cheers bud , ill give it a try.
Had a play and I love its simplicity, but would live a few extras, as mentioned already.
Still some glitches, but not as much as lp. But lp, might take centre stage when its re-write is complete.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
after installing Froyo i also had a laggy Launcherpro.
i did a factory reset today. reinstalled everything and LP seems to work way better
( so is froyo btw )

I know what you mean, like you I am waiting for the re-write, I just felt LP got a bit heavy, and seemed even heavier now I'm on froyo.

I did that when I installed froyo, complete wipe of everything, I am a big believer in that but the problem still arose. Might re-flash again if another build comes out and see where it gets me.
Yeah launcherpro has been slow since froyo, I'm using ADW cause of that
Cool, I'm not alone then. Might give lp a rest till the new version comes, built for froyo. Using zeam as recommended. Kinda love it more than lp atm.

Do not install the version v0.8.1.0
The v. 8.0.0 is smoother
I actually uninstalled ADW and replaced it with launcher pro because ADW became laggy after the last update. I tried both again after upgrading to Froyo and didn't come to a different conclusion. It's too bad because I really liked ADW a lot before the last update ruined it. Sticking with launcher pro for now. Touchwiz also has lag in 2.2, similar to ADW but I have long lost faith in anything Samsung software related.

Zeam looks good but no extra widgets like in launcher pro... Can't make do without a friends stream widget. And why can't we use Samsung widgets in any of these launchers ?

Obviously because they were made by Samsung. They can't make their software compatible with their hardware so we can't expect their software to be compatible with other software

Apart from that they made it slow, nothing much is different as far as I can tell. A couple of changes to their widgets but you wouldn't care about that anyway if you hadn't shelled out the 3 bucks for the plus version.
Haha yeah. And now I've sampled and tailored zeam to my needs, I have no use for lp lol. Google should extend refund periods lol.

Like all the others...no lag on teh roxxorz's end.
You guys sure? This is a very widely known issue and happens on both my EVO/CM7 and N1/Stock 2.3.3.
LP + Froyo with the 3D app drawer used to run at what seemed a smooth 50+ fps. Now it's around half that, definitely took a visual hit. The zooming app drawer transition also took a hit. I've tried every kernel/governor and it's the same.

You guys haven't gone back to a froyo rom yet. Check lpp on froyo compared to 2.3 and let me know what you think

Yep LP + CM7 suck. CM7 Open source...LP closed source platform, Team win win does not like to play with anything closed source... least thats what I was told months ago. I found a way to make ADW ex match my LP set up ... only thing missing is widgets.
I hope LP re write fixes this

LPP runs better IMHO on any rom other than CM7. I've ran Mikfroyo, fresh, warm
I only have one issue with LP on CM7. Whenever I reboot, it lags big time and then LP force closes. After the FC it starts right back up and then it runs flawlessly.

This is my understanding as well, it seems we will have to wait for the developers of LP to optimize for GB. There is a HUGE performance difference between 2.2 & 2.3 w/ LP
Fine for me on latest Nightly, however, you could always just wait for the rewrite update, which should be like any week now...

Mine seems to run fairly smooth, however, I also get the crash when I boot the phone, and it seems to occasionally lag a bit, but after a while it'll fix itself and be smooth once more.
OK so just wanted to give my opinion yes Lp does run smooth on GB but it doesnt feal as smooth by when i am running adw EX. And yes i know that adw ex is already rewritten for GB. But as soon as LP rewrites for GB going straight back to LPP. I just love those widgets. BUt i sure love the fluxed icons theme for adw. Is there a way to install the flux theme to LP?
I just tried adw ex on cm7 and it felt just the same as launcher pro plus on cm7.

Are you using ADW by chance? It's been kinda laggy for me recently.
I've had that issue with v2 and v3.
Its only when using ADW for me though. All other launchers are smooth.
Its like a slightly lower framerate while scrolling side to side. Using ADW on other roms its very smooth.
Somehow adw doesn't get along with biwinning on my phone...

no i was just using the stock Tw Launcher that flashed with it. could the lag just be from touchwiz?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
i didn't have lag with either of the stock options on v3. still put launcher pro on right away though..
I had that lag as well with v3 but v2 was flawless. I'm also having some odd GPS issues so I just flashed back to v2 to see if I can pinpoint the problem.
ill prolly just follow suit and flash back to v2. cuz i really like bi-winning

Task Manager causing home screen stutter

I've noticed that in the leaked 2.3.4 firmwares, putting the Task Manager widget on the homescreen causes it to stutter when you're shifting through the homescreens. Never had this problem with KF3. Has anybody found a solution to this?
Nope no stutter here using KH3.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Hmmm that's weird. Wonder why I'm getting this stutter with every 2.3.4 version so far. And it's only when the widget it there, otherwise its perfect.
Im having the same problem too but not because of the task manager widget! I get stutter even with some icons and a couple of widgets!! I dont use task manager widget. BUT when i use live wallpaper then theres no stutter or lag and it becomes smooth as silk.. I have this on every 2.3.4 firmware i installed.. Now im back to stock kf3 and it rocks!!

Oh is it?? Actually i was thinking about that new launcher today that it would probably reacts better on 2.3.4 but i dont know if wanna go into the procedure of flashing KH4 again to test the launcher's lag!

I thought I was the only one, now I am enlightened. It only happens on my stock 2.3.4 KG7 ROM. I am on Cognition and they removed the widget it seems. Hope to see an update to the TouchWiz firmware soon!
When you mention it, yea it looks like the task manager widget for Touchwiz is making the home screens stutter a bit, hmm weird.

Touch screen responsiveness Gingerbread VS ICS/JB

When my S2 is running on ICS or JB, i'm I'm totally not happy with the touch screen responsiveness. Is there a way to fix this issue? I was so frustrated that i even tried Gingerbread today, and maybe you don't believe it, but with Gingerbread the touch screen responsiveness of my Samsung S2 is fantastic!
I've made 2 movies, to visualize my touch screen responsiveness issue
Gingerbread VS ICS (both are stock roms):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaYbE0OtD-c&feature=youtu.be
Jelly Bean (I've tried resurrection and revolts rom, and also tried the kernels: siyah, CM10 and dorimanx:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0UP0J0l0wc
Nothing related to development.. Just a general thing which most S2 users knew.. Must have been posted in General section...
It was very annoying at first after updating to ICS/JB roms and is very noticeable once you pick up an iPhone and try scrolling on that. The galaxy nexus had the same delayed scrolling, but when I used my old Galaxy S(1) with CM9 or CM10 that lag was not there and scrolling felt great!
I concur. Screen responsiveness is nowhere near what Gingerbread has.
I noticed this when I (recently) "upgraded" to ICS. Not much of an upgrade if you ask me. Hardware should be as responsive as previous if not better.

Indeed CM7 seems more butter then cm10 even with vsync
Has Samsung acknowledged this problem?
Here the same bro.
For me the best ROMS for GS2 made in 2011 are GB based ROMS.ICS ROMS lag like hell and contacts keep on crashing and freezing TW.
But our ICS fanboys here will not accept these facts and now they are clamoring for JB with it's own set of problems.

I'm from Israel and I'm using Hebrew as my main language and gb doest support left to right built in

It's not a question of responsiveness, I think. More of a question of how scroll works. It's been discussed in many threads at many time. It's not an issue per say... They just chose another direction for scrolling. There are ICS custom kernels which "fix" scrolling. Just look for them.
I believe it is. I have found touch responsiveness to be less with ICS than Gingerbread was. (I still have my Nandroid backup of my Gingerbread FW).
With Gingerbread, I touched the screen and response was (comparatively) instant. With ICS, I wait or re touch the screen for the response back. Keyboard seems the only thing that is responsive. (Although, a few times I even questioned it).

Funny how some of us don't seem to have issues with screen responsiveness. There's the infamous screen responsiveness delay issue, but there's been fixes for this already. I guess that's the price you pay for running full stock.

For me, system responsiveness is better in ICS than GB. However, the web browser just scrolls differently in ICS. However, your second video is inaccurate. You claim that both phones are running Dolphin browser. The SGS2 you used is actually running Chrome. Chrome has issues on our SGS2.

For you, possibly. For me though, I noticed that there were less hiccups when scrolling through menus (like settings) or homescreens (Touchwiz or Go Launcher). TW's homescreen was noticeably smoother on ICS. On 2.3.4, that was the first thing I complained about (TW homescreen hiccups).
Yesterday my girlfriend buy an sgs2, WTF !!!
It really lag so much, scrolling, menu.... have the 4.0.4 stock inside with no official update available.
She don't want flash modded rom for warranty reason (and hard brick in some case I've read).... She can't do anything to improve the smoothness ??!!!
Very very bad !
