CLK and MAGLDR are the two different bootloaders used to get android on to the hd2's nand. american clk nand is the rom for the clk bootloader while amercian magldr nand is the rom for magldr bootloader.
If you dont know what clk and magldr are or what nand is then you google it. or search here in the forum before posting, everything has been explained, usually more than once, then over and over again, by various different people with various different guides.

I think Ill keep MAGDLR ... I just need to solve two problems:
1. how to create partition on my SD cart to extend internal memory (because in my american android I have only 80 MB free). I know how to do it in CLK but I have no idea how to do it in MAGDLR
2. somehow make my opera mobile browser play flash videos properly.

For problem one, download the free tool Mini Tool Partition Wizard. Use the Home Edition.
Steps to partition sdcard:
1. If possible turn off device, take out sdcard, use a sdcard reader to connect micro sdcard to pc/laptop.
2. Backup all sdcard content to pc/laptop.
3. Open partition wizard, delete partition on sdcard
4. Now, first create a fat32 partition, with 32kb cluster, make it primary, leave atleast 500mb free space. THIS HAS TO BE DONE BEFORE THE NEXT PARTITION.
5. Then using the remaining space, create a second partition, also primary, forrmat ext3 or ext4 depending on your rom, with 4kb cluster. THIS HAS TO BE THE SECOND PARTITION.
Apply all changes then put sdcard back into device, turn it on, run data2sd script or a2sd+ script depending on rom then you should be good to go.
I would recommend searching the american android thread for data2sd or a2sd+ scripts and instructions before following my advice.
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for device breakages or sdcard loss of life, it is not my fault, blame god, technically he created everything so its his fault.

And you don't have a usb card reader? in that case boot into clockworkmod recovery, i'm guessing you know that? go down to mounts and storage, the go to mass storage, the bottom one, plug usb cable in and that will mount sdcard to pc.
Then follow my instructions from before.

When you say!" I know how to do it in clk but not magldr",,, are you sure you don't mean you know how to do it in cwm? Cwm and clk are not the same. Cwm on clk is the same as cwm on magldr.
Clk is not cwm.
Into magldr, start cwm, advanced, partition SD card, done.

That works tooo but if your rom needs a ext4 partition then you cant use that as cwm partitions using ext3. but if thats all yo need then fine that works jut make sure you dont use a swap space unless your rom requires it.
And i was meaning did you know ho to get into cwm on magldr and obviously you did so thats good. And yes i know cwm is not clk cwm is a recovery, clk is a bootloader, i was the one that pointed you to that info on clk and magldr

to be honest Im completely confused now .. I thought that CLK ane CWM are the same things.
when I was downloading american android NAND 2.3.7 there were 3 download links:
1. AmeriCanAndroid MAGLDR NAND
2. AmeriCanAndroid *CLK NAND - this link is dead
3. CLK starterkit - this link is dead
I thought that AmeriCanAndroid MAGLDR NAND is one whitch is installed trough MAGLDR and AmeriCanAndroid *CLK NAND is one witch is installed trough clock work mode

I very appreciate your help. Im beginner in installing android and to be honest Im totaly lost.
so if I understand it right I have to do this ? :
0. install wm 6,5 to erase everything (I want to start from very beginning)
1. install Magldr
2. install clock work mode CWM
3. make a partition like this:
-Boot into the Clockwork Mod menu
-Go down to 'Advanced' and select (by pressing 'Call Button')
-Select 'Partition SD Card'
-Select Size of required partition not sure then 1024M is a good size)
-Make ABSOLUTELY sure you want to continue and then select 0M Swap Size
4. go back to magldr and install again wm 6,5 to erase everything except the created partition
5. install magldr again
6. install american android magldr NAND
Do I understand it right ?

Hey man there are plenty of guides and tutorials on this topic, that is if you search !!

No CLK and MAGLDR are two different bootloaders. Obviously the links are just dead for american android CLK nand.
American android MAGLDR is installed through clockworkmod recovery using the MAGLDR bootloader.
AND
American Android CLK is installed through clockworkmod recovery using the CLK bootloader.
CWM works on both bootloaders, that is why you are getting confused.
There are plenty guides to use to make sure you can do it with out problems, you just need to search. Dont do anything until you know what you are doing, just read and re-read until you understand what has to be done and what the different aspects of the HD2 android are.
I don't want to be mean by saying this but if you can't understand what is happening you shouldn't try and put android on your HD2

android rom not booting

I have been attempting to get WP7 working on my hd2, but have given up as I just can't get the thing to activate. So I have been trying to put android back on, but nothing I try installing now comes out bootable. I've even tried putting it back to an official rom before installing (or trying to) android. whereas that rom works, the android install still fails to boot.
Anyone got any suggestions?
which rom are you trying to install? cwm or daf install?
cwm install, imilka's vision sense.
Hi,
I have HD2 with 3.03.0000 SPL, 2.15.50.14 radio, ROM 3.14.479.2 (04666) WWE.
I tried to boot SuperRAM_FroYo_V1.5.
Everything is ok, but when green HTC logo appears, phone is restarting to Windows... Can someone tell me what I need to do to boot Android ? I tried to search, but I dont find answer.
Thanks.
Looking into it farther, it's looking like when i try to install from clockworkmod recovery (3.0.0.5) that I have booting off my sd-card, the install goes far too wuick. it doesn't even create partitions or anything. Could it be the wp7 rom caused some areas of the phone to be 'locked' or something similar?

You have reformatted your SD Card to original size after using WP7, have you? If not, download Panaspnic SD Formatter and format your SD card using that.
Are you guys making sure you have right CWR system layout size for the ROM you're trying to flash? That's usually the problem if it won't get past the first Android bootscreen.
Task 29

Reformat sdcard
Flash magdlr1.13
Flash cwm recovery with correct partition size.150, 200mb etc.
Flash rom
Tbe task 29 and sdcard reformat should revers any possibilities of something still hanging around from wp7

Only use this if just flashing the correct CWR partition won't work. There's also no need to reflash the radio. Task 29 only formats the NAND area.
Yeah, I did a full set of partitions on my sd card. not sure it was needed as wp7 didn't recognise the card.
Depends on which task 29 he finds in his search. Also if this is somehow radio related (seriously doubt) why not reflash it anyways, not gonna hurt. Since we dont know exactly whats wrong why not just redo eveything. Only takes about 5 minutes. And pretty much guaranteed to boot

Full set of partitions? Meaning you've got a FAT32 first partition and a Ext3/4 second partition? What CWR do you have installed though? It might be the wrong size for the ROM you're trying to flash. You can check what size CWR partition you have by opening the flash.cfg file (inside of your CWR folder) and find the line with 'system ya | 300' etc.

Yeah. I have the partitions set up as follows
1. Fat32 13gigs (ish)
2. Ext4 1gig
3. Ext4 350mb
3. linux swap 150gig.
the version of my clockworkmod recovery thing is v.3.0.0.5 and is running off my sd card, not actually installed on the phone. This has all worked for me fine until i put wp7 on, now nothing seems to be working. sigh.
Running off your SD card as in the intrid and zImage file are in there? I suggest you just update your CWR to the newest version (1.3). It doesn't need those files to be copied to the SD Card and runs off NAND. In MAGLDR it has it's own menu too. (AD Recovery). For me, I just have a load of different recovery folders with different partition sizes but it's not needed. I suggest you download the 150M CWR and then just change the partition size to whatever is needed. You just change the System ya | -150- to whatever size is needed. It'll probably be in the first post of the ROM you're downloading.

I used gparted to give it it's fresh lot of partitions
Have you tried what I said to do?
Ok, got recovery flashed in and running out of magldr. When it comes to partitioning the sd card, what is the advantage of 4 partitions over 3, as some rom threads say to partition 4, some say 3.
You mean an Ext3/4 partition? I honestly don't know and I just use an Ext3 partition as it's easier to do on XP. Both work though fine though.
Have you flashed your ROM yet?

CWR stands for ClockWork Recovery, it's a custom recovery for Android phones. When you download it, there will be a file called flash.config
You have to edit that file to make it flash a 150 Mb system partition to your phone's internal memory.
Or go the much easier route an do a forum search for HD2 NAND Toolkit
It will make things much easier in terms of flashing HSPL, CWM, and pretty much everything else you need to do to get Android running on your HD2
I highly suggest reading the sticky threads in the HD2 NAND Android forum, you're gonna want to know as much as you possibly can before messing around with stuff. You don't want an expensive paperweight, and you don't want to spend extra time correcting a mistake that could've been avoided with a little reading.
Basically you will need:
HSPL
A X.XX.50.XX radio
MAGLDR or clk
CWM with partition layout of correct size for the rom you intend to flash
ext2/3/4 are just a different type of file sytems used by the Linux platform. Use ext3 for your sd card's partition.
You can use CWM to partition your SD card, backup the contents of your card before you partition it.

Any rom you would recommend to me with an easy to follow guide?
I have an Eu htc hd2 btw
I posted this in your other thread but in case you miss it: try this guide. I found it pretty self-explanatory.
The ROM in my sig is pretty old, but it's absolutely the ****.
I don't know for sure if it's still posted here on XDA, if you'd like to try it, I s'pose I could upload it to a filesharing site.
I would definitely recommend CyanogenMod, try this one:

If you like HTC Sense, I'd try a ROM with Sense 2.0, maybe 2.1
Any of the Sense 3.0, 3.5 ROMs still have some bugs need worked out

phone into bootloader - use hspl4 to set 2.08.hspl - back into bootloader - flash radio 2.15.50 - reboot phone whilst holding power will start magldr - choose usb flasher - using the nand toolkit select the partition size you want (it will tell you in the rom you want to flash thread, usually post 1) and click partition - this will partition the nand and install clockwork - reboot phone holding power to start magldr - magldr option 8 ad recovery - this will start clockworkmod - advanced - partition sd card (this will wipe your sd card so back it up, , only need to do this once, it creates an EXT partition taht teh phone uses as extra internal storage, 1gb is usually right for most people) - reboot, back into magldr - back into clockwork - mounts and storage - mount sd card - copy the rom.zip you wanna flash to the sd card, still in clockwork choose install zip from sd - select teh rom you copied across - done.

Well you clearly haven't read enough! All of these threads show that flashing a .50 radio unlocks the 576 MB RAM. For f**k's sake, stop posting stupid questions in the Q&A when there have been a tonne of them, just use the search and read properly. It isn't hard.

Hi. thats not that difficult.
Best thing is you read HERE CAREFULLY
But i am trying to explain it easy for you:
First you need to be sure you have the following "things" installed correctly:
1.) Prepare your Mobile
HSPL 2.08 (to be able to flash MAGLRD)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5279234&postcount=1
Radio 2.50.15.14 (which supports 576MB RAM)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
MAGLDR 1.13 Bootloader (to be able to install Clockwork Mod)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
Recovery (Clockwork Mod; i prefer the Touch version)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419733
For ICS you need at least 200MB system partition (Recovery Layout; the space from your NAND (intern memory) for your ROM file). Means you have to edit the flash.cfg coming with MAGLDR before flashing the CWM; do this with Notepad++:
I am using following config (flash.cfg):
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 220M
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
Now you are prepared for installing a ROM. In your case ICS.
2.) Flash ROM
Download the .zip file for your ROM. There are two versions. CLK (just another Bootloader) and MAGLDR. We are using MAGLDR. So download it here:
[15.Jan.2012] NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
Now you just need to copy the ROM .zip on your SD-Card. Then load into Bootloader (MAGLDR) and choose point 8. for your Recovery (CWM).
Now, if you had another rom installed, you need to wipe all cache and data including the Dalvik Cache (under Advanced).
Then install your .zip file with "install zip from sd" and wait. Done. Restart your mobile
3.) Install DATA2SD
IF you want to use DATA2SD (means to store apps and system relevant data on your sd-card) you have to create an EXT-Partition on your SD-CARD.
Just do this with CWM, there is an option for it (should be something like "Partition your SD-Card"). I am using 1GB partition with 0MB swap.
Once you have done this navigate to this thread and do EXACTLY what that guy wrote in post #207. But instead of using the file from post #207 use the flashable file from post #174 (40ad2sdx-a2Recovery.zip).
If you did it correctly you are done
And again, for additional info read THIS COMPLETLY.
Have fun

now i chose the USB flasher mode i know that .the probleme is if i can flash the rom without sd card or not ?
you flash the partition layout (and cwm) through usb flasher, then flash teh rom from sd.

Bloody hell, can't you do anything yourself? Are you completely incapable of typing a question into Google!?
Boot into CWM recovery and select partition SD card, choose 1024Mb partition and 0Mb swap. This will delete everything on your SD card though.

If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all, i think is better to ask google to ask some new mombre hiere. because your solution dont work and if a choose 1024mb partition i cant format my sd card and i cant copie the rom inside
but with 512M partition all work but phone reboot affter update .thanks to all
and big thanks to samsameul

Trying to install CWM from sd SD kernel failed

I want to re-partition my NAND, and don't have windows around. So I downloaded cwm-sd.zip and cwm.zip. I extracted cwm-sd.zip to the root of my sd card , copied cwm.zip with appropriate flash.cfg inserted. I will reboot, go to Mahler, ad sd. (As described)
But I will get sd kernel open failed.
I try with the latest stable clockworkmod. 5.0.26
Any ideas what the problem might be.
I want to repart nand only, so any other ideas not including windows pc are welcome, I have pc with Ubuntu on it.

1st-sorry, don't know why its not entering cwm
But
2n- it doesn't work like that. you can't repartition magldr from SD. If it did boot "ad SD" it would run cwm, nothing more. The SD cwm is so you can backup/flash roms without having nand cwm, but it relies on the nand already being partitioned.
If you want to partition from SD use clk instead of magldr.
I have a working CWM installed. I just want to re-part, really.
According to this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987531
it seems this should be possible. I dont want to re-install CWM though, I just want to re-part. I can cope with terminal and adb , I think, and these options are (I think) available under linux, but I dont know how to do it
Well, I disagree, but hey, you have the info. I'll be interested in reading your how-to if you manage it.
(Also, from your other threads you seem not to have noticed that partitioning also installs cwm at the same time)

Even with this link i failed at setting up ADB on my Ubuntu machine but you may have better luck than i.
I am almost 100% sure I managed to do this way back in time. What I don't know is if I can use adb to partition NAND , and if so, how. Not to mention that the phone is not the typical android phone.

I have noticed it, I assume it will install over the existing one...
I dont have any info, I just cite a source. The process apparently fails for me, so I am stuck. I am probably misunderstanding it.
You CAN install cwm over the current one, by booting into cwm and then using flash zip from sd card, and selecting the new cwm.zip from your sd (just like flashing a rom), BUT this doesn't partition anything, it is just loading the contents of the zip into the recovery partition that already exists.
trust me, if you want to partition the phone without a pc, you need to be using cLK.
From the link above:
For MAGLDR up to 1.13, booting from SDCard (SD-files version):
Download the file attached
Extract the files to the root directory of your sdcard
Start recovery within MAGLDR with menu point "AD SD"
Recovery should start
You're done

What exactly is this used method used for? It is described in the Install CWM methods(if I am not wrong)
Flash.cfg files in clockworkmod.zip are used to re-part data and user partitions. What happens if I re-flash CWM.zip with custom flash.cfg file inside via method at the top of the post. Or just flashing CWM.zip with flash.cfg via the installed CWM. What and when reads the flash.cfg files and act accordingly?
It is not a question of trust, I would love to know the basic workflow of the process
The cwm that comes with a flash, cfg is for flashing to nand via usb - magldr - usb flasher, or the cLK equivalent.
the cwm-sd version, and the process outlined in your quote, is used to boot into a valid working copy of cwm from sd card instead of the nand recovery partition.
For example if your nand version of cwm gets corrupted, .. for example trying to use rom manager under magldr, corrupts the nand copy of cwm, so you can load to the sd version of cwm, and use that to do a backup of your rom and/or reinstall cwm into the nand partition. It does NOT let you repartition the nand in the process. The partitioning happens via teh daf.exe and flash.cfg, , its daf.exe that does it. cwm just works with teh contents of teh partitions, not teh actual partitions.
If you were really tight on space, you could omit the nand recovery partition altogether and only ever run cwm from sd, gaining a whole FIVE MEG to put towards the data partition!

Enabling storage of EXT4 on SD-card

Hi
I recently installed a Sense 3.x ROM from the Sensation XL Android 2.3.5 and I got only 9MB of free space. I have an initrd-patcher for ICS and JB, but I doubt that it will work on older versions of android.
Is there a way to make android 2.3.5 use the EXT4 partition on the SD-card?
Yes, you have to flash an a2sd or DataOnExt script after first boot/flashing the rom immediately. Of course, while having an ext partition created beforehand.

Thanks for the reply. Can you recommend a good script for doing this?
I'd suggest this one, but there's a whole lot of other ones. So if this one doesn't work well or you don't like it, don't come here asking for another one. Instead, go out there and look for the one that you like.

and just a little clue to help out a little bit
its in the second post of the thread that Marvlesz link to
I used initrd_patcher_v2 on Gingerbread 2.3.7 and it's worked fine. So it should work on GB 2.3.5 as well. Remember to make an EXT4 partition on your SD before any installation, via recovery, and remove any script like a2sd from zip ROM.

I tried to search for initrd_patcher_v2 and found this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36049396
I tried running it on my system, but freezes up just before boot-animation.
I use the SENSATION XL ROM V 3.0 STOCK from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316632&highlight=sensation+all+in+one
I can't seem to find any a2sd-scripts in the ROM zip, but there's a sd-ext folder inside the ZIP.

Sv: Enabling storage of EXT4 on SD-card
I tried from a fresh install, before booting the first time, and also from an aleady configured installation.

You don't understand, I mean can you format you phone and install this rom again with my advices?
Did you made an EXT4 partition of 1GB or more, with Mini Tool (free), on your sd BEFORE fresh installation of this ROM?
I checked your ROM and the script (apps2sd) is already in that ROM so you probably make a wrong Installation.
Sv: Enabling storage of EXT4 on SD-card
I do understand what you say. I made a task29, clk repartition and recovery from hd2toolkit. Under installation the installer asks if I have 1024mb us model or 512mb EU version. I selected the EU version, as this is the one I have. The only question it asks me is if I have magldr or clk.
After that it returns to clk recovery and I press reboot now. I have created the ext4 partition before I even tried installing android the very first time.
If you want, I can perform a new installation with a video recording to document the process

Do not use CLK or HD2toolkit this time.
I will recommend to do in this way, before touch your phone format your SD with GUIFORMAT (look here on XDA for it) in FAT32 normal mode (no quick), after format the SD use Mini Tool and make a ext4 partition of 2gb (2048mb) at the end of the SD, so when you look at the partition the ext partition have to be at the right side of you. Put inside the SD the zip of Sensation XL 3.0 only, do not do anything else with your sd.
Format your Phone with Task29, reboot in Bootloader,
Flash MAGLDR 1.13 for HD2,
From MAGLDR 1.13 via USB Flasher flash the Recovery Touch Beta 8, (I provided you the Recovery ready for you, unzip and flash)
Reboot in MAGLDR,
put the SD into the Phone,
run Recovery,
Do a wipe data and wipe cache partition and wipe dalvick cache,
Install from sd the zip via recovery,
In Aroma do not select any option if you don't know anything about it, the installation will recognize the EXT4 partition automatically and you ready to GO, GO, GO.
Let me know.
