Samsung Galaxy Note WIKI
Hi all
I have created the Galaxy Note Wiki. I find that if they are updated, they can be a great source of information to all. Please help to keep it updated, as it helps out note newbies and cuts down on them opening new threads in the forum.
This helps to keep the clutter down on the main forum, so makes it easier for us all!
Please update it with any thing you feel is valid. I will leave this thread open to discuss Wiki issues.
Hope its useful
Your friendly Note Moderation Team
Great work! I really like the idea of having all GalaxyNote-relevant stuff on one place.
My only thought is that it is geared to the N7000 specs so far. But understandable since the I717 isn't even out yet. But it looks nice and could be a really awesome resource.

Well done. Thanks for the effort.
Maybe GLONASS should be included in the specs list.

Dirty micro usb connector
Might want to keep this one handy. It's shown up on multiple discussion
groups. "phantom" USB connections. Device will think it is connecting,
disconnecting. If it isn't a damaged USB port, it might just be contaminated.
Found photos of a clean & dirty port.

After hitting it with a can of air to remove the dust/debris, I found a green
substance, shaded here in red, of contamination of the pins 4 & 5, which
according to the microusb wiki, is used for ID and or cable connection to
alert a device of a cable being connected.
Pulled the battery, dipped a LINT FREE cloth in alcohol, cleaned it, let it
dry, then hit it again with a blast of canned air, now it looks like this!
Not one issue since Monday.

Looks nice, but some of those specs are thought to be wrong. Apparently no snapdragon, and earlier reports on the rom/ram are wrong...apparently

I understand, but remember - if it's Android based, creating custom UI's will be much easier. And with the new hardware this device is rumored to hold - possibilities are many and vast.

Well.. Ok, I'm a very active user, but obviously that is not enough for obtaining Moderator status..
Quote from FAQ:
"Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other actions. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating."

I'm not sure I am as knowledgeable as one would have to be. But I mean, for enforcing rules in the forum, and for deleting useless threads like this.. I think I could handle it And yes, there are far to few active Moderators.
I'm very sad to hear you feel this way though gtrab, as you are one of our real support-pillars here at XDA:X1. It's a shame that we keep driving people like you away with the lack of organization of the forum.
The problem as I see it is when you get "knowledgable" enough to become a Moderator, you most likely will be spending your time cooking and developing, and most probably have no time for rather simple tasks such as - deleting usless threads like these Sad downwards spiral..
It's already been discussed but I wouldn't buy this thing unless it has a slider form factor for a keyboard.
One thing I have enjoyed here in this forum is it is much friendlier and less flaming than the evolution 3d forum I came from, and still is so far.
I have read a few things that disappointed me greatly I would like to mention .
Guys, think before you bash a persons work. Whether it's a theme, ROM, or some mod these people put in hard work and time for free and our benefit! It may not be perfect or what you personally like but that's not the point. If I was doing things for friends I've never met or a forum I would stop after some of the crap I've read.
Guys, please keep this place supportive and friendly. We were all noobs once and didn't know much except how to turn on the phone.
Anyway, respect each other and the work posted here. Bashing doesn't promote anything and doesn't encourage anyone to keep going .
And it's FREE!
Ok, group hug . J/k

It has become worse over the years. Sadly.
Still it's a small group who messes it up for the rest.
I have however, also seen someone who thinks he's a "developer", say snobby stuff to noobs. Like he was better then them.
This is much worse imho.

I agree. It goes both ways and there will always be the ones who's sole purpose is to troll and flame. I just can't imagine knocking someones hard work when they are giving it away. And I will never understand flaming a noob for asking a question. We were all there once. Hopefully this forum will stay above the fray .

I completely second what OP said, most of my PDAs would have been unusable bricks without the support of this great Forum and its intelligent and zealous Devs, starting long back with my Imate PDA2K in 2006, turning my HD2 from unstable device with its officially unsupported OS into one great masterpiece .
I salute all the devs in this forum knowing well that our GNote coupled with their fantastic effort and talent will become an even better device once the official ICS starts rolling out.

guys lets have a poll on how badly we need a USB HOST KERNEL ... a TRUE OTG DRIVER ..
which connects USB Devices through a USB OTG CABLE to our beloved SGS i9000 WITHOUT any external power source.
I love the idea, but is it possible? I mean with the hardware we have in our SGS
guysss ...
just think of the NEED of this KERNEL ... we would not be using our Pc's to backup or transfer files or important data .. like backups from Titanium after this ...
we would not be dependent to any other device after this .. just our i9000 a cable and a USB device thats all ...
and many manyyy manyyyyyyy more ....

it is possible for sure ...
we already have a CUSTOM KERNEL for SGS .. which is working .. but it requires an external power source to get your devices visible on the phone and one app as well required ..
while SGS2 has this feature built-in ... and doesnt require any extra power source or any app.
LOOOOOL, WTF is this?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
you need no special kernel or HARDWARE (!!)
go to market and search for "hamster wheel"
it delivers enough power so there is need of an ac adapter as well </trolling>
Spam thread?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the way I see this post is ungratefull for the dev's who have put a lot of hard work in bringing you what we have so far and for it to work as well as it does so far.
The ins and outs are posted here and all relative links to the why and why nots.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450298
Have a bit of courtesy and respect rather than start up a thread that moans about something that is already being worked on.
I would like to see it be possible without external p/s but starting it whine poll is not going to encourage anyone to go faster with the development. If I was a developer I'd be almost inclines to drop it or tell you to buy A NEW PHONE if you want that functionality that badly.
By the way if your happy with the work they have already done dont forget to hit the thanks button for them.
nice.........
yes, surely wants this feature........
it ll help in minimizing pc use for transferring data...
& opens a whole new world of possibilities

I need an orange juice
this thread and voting is just to motivate the dev's ... not for any other purpose .. i know the whole scenerio .. who is working for it and who made efforts .. this is not a psychology lesson class so dont give lectures here plz ...
i believe XDA has freedom of speech .. as we all support open source ... so i believe we r all open to have our opinions and discussions to make ...
and i was not targeting any specific dev. in my thread .. this was just to let all see and dev's as well .. that how much interest our crowd has in this ... and it'll be a great achievement by the Dev's ... i respect all Dev's ... i am follower of them ... so there was no offense ... or any bad intension .. or not even i was trying to push this matter to Dev's .. i dont know why people just jump into threads and spread negeiveness what they have in their mind ...

I might be bit out of touch here, so please do correct me. How on earth can someone find the answer to a function like that with 3 unknown variables? is it possible that it's a well known equation in physics that I am not aware of? I just can't think it's possible to find a answer just from there without any knowledge of relationship between these unknown variables.
I believe that Note's function is to understand what the user wrote. It did so, but wolframalpha couldn't solve the equation. This is expected in my view.
If I am right, it means that the Nilay Patel is trying too hard to legitimize his review of Note 10.1

Lol It's been pointed out that he had his tablet on Power-Saver mode during the review. Who does that?
There's no answer for that obviously, it's just reduced if possible, which in this case is not. If there was any error it would be in Mathematica and the huge server farm they are using, which REALLY would be something

How thorough is Android factory reset's data clear/wipe?
Hey, Android gurus.
I love my GNote. I am getting ready to sell my Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet. I've done the factory reset on it, but am wondering if that is considered an effective tool for removing data from the internal hard drive. Could someone easily resurrect my data if the factory reset is all I've done to clear it?
Thanks for insights.

Was using the Note in the sun and it got me thinking. First, I wondered how long till amoled is used in the 10 inch tablets. Then, because of the reflection i thought, wouldn't it be great if they could produce a display that could double as a solar panel. Think about if the pixels could absorb the whole spectrum and just reflect the color that was needed for displaying the image on the screen. No glare and phenomenal power consumption. I'm know it's crazy, and maybe its maine's sweet greenery talking, but one can dream.

hello,
i have couple games that could use some review and rating, and just let me know if you also need the same.
here they are :
U_BO - 3 IN 1 : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.k2.u_bo_x_ads or http://www.indiedb.com/games/ubo3in1.
JOLT : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.k2.u_jolt_x_ads or http://www.indiedb.com/games/jolt.
i need some honest opinion, please.
thank you.
Sorry folks, trading reviews is not very honest and not in the spirit of true development, where free exchange of ideas and respectful contributions should be made. Using XDA to create this exchange is not very honest in that those who do not know XDA exists will get a false sense that all these apps are all 5.0....Let's be fair here, creating these "exchanges" is not really what XDA is for..
These threads will be summarily closed. So, use this thread and all the others here at XDA for their true intentions.
Thanks
