If you rotate your tablet to landscape mode you will see that it is noticeably laggier than portrait, whether if its browsing the internet or homescreen. Is this gone in ICS or is it just a tegra 2 issue?
it was gone in ics =)

But see a post I just made. Autocorrect doesn't work in landscape mode using G+ until you flip the Xoom to portrait and back.
Strange...... I'm still on HC (tiamat) & mine lags in portrait mode...

Hi, does portrait mode sucks for you too, it is almost unusable. It takes a lot of time to rotate and swiping through homescreens is laggy as hell.
Of course I'm talking of honeycomb homescreen, inside apps is quite smoother.

Its an NVidia Tegra bug. They have promised to fix it soon.
Performance is affected everywhere when in landscape not only the launcher.
Hrm. I've had no issues with lag or performance in portrait mode, other than being annoyed when an app I open forces me into landscape. Maybe I just haven't looked at enough apps

How do they fix a bug in hardware?
I haven't noticed that. Perhaps because I almost always use it in landscape mode. But I can not say that it is "laggy as hell". It's quite smooth, I think.

Maybe it's nvidia tegra problem as mentioned above. But Asus see pad is good when potrait hold, but suck n laggy when landscape mode.

With updated firmware
Really it depends on whether it's an actual hardware issue or a driver problem. And even some hardware issues can be resolved with updates to the controller software.
Default SE Launcher does support landscape mode...!!! Here are the screen shots from my Xperia Arc showing the home launcher in landscape mode...!!! The phone wasn't connected to dock or HDMI...!!!
:O?
how?!
can you post your home.apk?
How? @[email protected]
Off topic: Where did you get your flashlight icon widget? The third image from your attachments. It looks sony ericsson style, resembling the other widgets layout.

The Launcher should be the same. the difference is the pro has a hardware keyboard that when slid out acts as the trigger to flip landscape. The launcher has the functionality to show landscape, we've seen it with HDMI or on models with hardware keyboard and I've heard reports of people with livedock working (for me doing OTG keyboard/mouse it stays portrait).
I had just hoped he managed to hack it or something, but I'm skeptical until we get at least some proof of concept, even if it's buggy.
Show us a youtube video of phone going landscape without hdmi or post a buggy hack.
this guy is an idiot? Whats hios problem with letting us try?

<Minor thread necromancy>
I found this thread whilst looking if anyone had hacked the stock Xperia ray launcher to support landscape mode and thought I'd report this
All you need is an app to force landscape, and the SE launcher will happily switch orientation. There are two on the market that both seem to work fine:
Orientation Control (Paid)
Ultimate Rotation Control (Free 7 day trial, then paid)
Not sure if there are any free apps that do the same, but I was happy to pay for the first one as it does the job.
I'll post some screengrabs in a minute
Screengrabs
My A500 Honeycomb seem to stuck in landscape mode. I use an app call Phone Tester the gyroscope seem to detect it just fine.
Any thought on how to fix this. Thanks.

Just like he said also if your on a custom launcher or even honeycomb settings/display should have a option to lock your screen orientation.

I think he means the screen lock button to the right of the volume button.
If it is switched to the right it has locked the screen in the landscape position.
Judging by the OP's lack of reply, I reckon he just had his lock on and is now well embarrassed.

I think you are correct but we all do dumb things at times.
Some people just need to read the manual to find their answers.
I see this issue on ALL APPS and DIFFERENT LAUNCHERS.
I cant scroll properly when using quickpic or changing screens on lauchers only does it on ICS. Running STOCK. Does not do this when I go back to gingerbread but while on ics its annoying
Can't say that I've had this issue. The only time that my touch screen acts wonky is when the charger is plugged in, then it acts very odd sometimes.

I found Force GPU rendering to use 2D hardware acceleration in applications but it didnt change anything
its not lag that I am having. Its issues with say when swiping through pics in the gallery or quickpic where scrolling just sucks
I responded in another post by you (best GB rom or something) and asked why you wanted to change to GB.
ICS is very smooth swiping up down, left right, on any ICS rom. Not laggy at all. However I do have an issue with one app regarding sideway scrolling, but that is a UK specific app, and the dev knows about it. Quickpic scrolling is super smooth for me, and so is on Apex, Nova and my preferred choice, GoLauncher.

i mean everything is EXTREAMLY smooth. It just acts up. When moving faster it kinda acts up and glitches like going up it will sometimes go down. I know its not an issue with MY note as it does it with my AT&T version too

If I go slow everything is fine. But when going fast its very annoying, it doesnt happen on Gingerbread
Lick I can flick my finger fast sometimes and it will go SLOW as well
i hear you man..same issues here..thats why im back on the silky stock rooted gb.....same thing you say...it is smooth, but its glitchy when scrolling everywhere...noticed the same thing
one more thing, why couldnt they stick to the beautiful gb rotation animation in ics?in ics rotation is a bit choppy, you'll notice it particularly when exiting from apps from the landscape mode to the launcher( eg: mx player)...
so back on good old gb for now

OK im sure this might be a dumb question....but I can't seem to View anything on my Nexus in landscape view...only portrait, anyone know how to adjust this?
If you pull the notification bar down there is a lock next to the date. You can also force it with an app like Rotation Locker from the market.

look up the one click rooting tool as it is the best way to do it. besides rooting your device it also installs cwm. with cwm you can flash roms and kernels to improve the look and performance of your N7.
quick boot is another excellent tool.
es file explorer is needed to edit the dpi on the N7. i prefer the dpi at 175 for a tablet ui on the N7. after you change the dpi go into settings and change text size to large and your good to go! happy rooting to you
cheers
Much of the Nexus 7 UI has been designed using portrait mode. With that being said, some apps will still rotate (if you have the rotation lock off which was already mentioned) but for the most part they intend you use portrait.

Although most of it works fine in landscape mode, I've used mine mostly locked in landscape mode since I got it without any issues.
The launcher is what is locked in portrait which screws everyone up. Try downloading a new launcher like Apex or Go Launcher. Most apps will rotate but a few will force themselves to portrait mode.
