[Q] WiFi 5ghz and 2.4 ghz band - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a dual band router that gives out both signals at the same time, when my MT4G was stock I could get the 5 ghz signal but now I have the BeatMod BlissSense rom on my phone and I only get the 2.4 signal, is there a way to get it back, like maybe use the stock kernel or what...... Please help.

Sense 3.5 probably not going to support it.

Could anyone confirm that 5GHz Wi-Fi is not supported in any major Sense 3.0 or 3.5 ROMs like Virtuous releases?
When I just received my HTC Panache - I actually didn't look inside stock HTC firmware options, and immediately flashed into CM7 ROM. And I was quiet surprised, when I noticed that it supports IEEE 802.11a/n, as it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the original box or manual pages.

Didnt work with Virtuous 3.0 Sense.

Best GB Sense rom?

Just want to test the XDA waters and see what gb sense rom people like the best? Asking because I've come to realize I prefer the sense infrastructure (i.e. camera, dialer) but at the same time prefer LPP as my launcher (smoother and more functional imo). I love the sense 3.0 lockscreen hence wanting a gb sense rom, so I can push the lockscreen onto it.
So basically what is the lightest, smoothest gb sense rom?

It's made by Raffy and it's called insertioncoin
http://android-maisters.thedevboard.com/t53-portrommt4g_insertcoin_glacier_v10released
It has many 3.0 features but not carousel, it's really fast at 1GHz w/ conservative gov.
Hmm, cool thanks for the tip...I'm aware of Raffy but haven't flashed one of his roms...he was the first to get a sense 3.0 out for the mytouch 4g right?
I might give it a shot, but so far I've only flashed XDA roms...lol I like to keep it in the family

You can just look in Developers section. RoyalPanache is based on Canadian Glacier release - that's as stock (and thus bug-less) as you can get. And it has all the Sense 3.0 goodies ready, too. Any ROM derived from that release is functional.

Shalom my brother Lol yeah I'm quite familiar with the dev section, just thought I'd ask for peoples' opinions...sometimes it's easier than flashing 10 different roms, though for sure the only way to know is to try it oneself...
I'm on virtuous fusion now, and while it's great, I'm thinking a 2.1 sense rom will leave more ram available, which is my primary reason for switching away from the 3.0 fusion...plus I've been getting spotty data on this rom, so I'm hoping I'll get stronger results on something else.
Royal Panache. all is great, fast, smooth and haven't ran into any problems. Wifi data speed is fast also. fast ping and fastest download was around 19.33 mbps.
I love Faux123's Orange GB, he basically just took the canadian/panache release and sped it up a bit. I was running his Orange Glacier before all the GB releases and it felt like stock on steroids.
The only issue I had was remapping the genius button to google search, he moved the google search app to a user app, so I just had to make it a system app and everything was great. The HTC Sense 3.0 camera even works on it, and I couldn't get it to run on raffy's insertcoin (which I like, also) or virtuous (another amazing one).

So far
So far my personal fav would have to be eViL D's Virtuous Fusion.
Only thing I have found thus far being noticeably wrong is that the actual calendar app isn't scaled right but the widget is scaled fine so thats what I use instead.

Can anyone recommend a good Sense Rom?

Hey guys. I'm just used to the sense rom I've been on stock froyo, gingerbread leak, and curretnly running evil d Virtuous Fusion sense 3 rom. I'd like to see if there are any other options for a stable gingerbread sense rom. I love Evil D's rom but wifi calling doesnt work and there seems to be data fluctuations on it. btw anyone know what's going on w/that rom and the pending investigation? Thanks for you rinput guys.

As for suggesting another GB Sense ROM - if you haven't already, I'd definitely try Royal Panache. Very similar to Virtous Fusion except it has Sense 2.1, not the 3.0 carousel. But you still get the sense 3.0 lockscreen and other elements. Very smooth.
Not sure what's going on with eViL's thread though...hopefully nothing serious.
I would suggest IncertCoin rom, it is real awesome and stable. Excellent battery life with all sense widgets working perfectly.

because after a year of 2.2 and half a year of 2.3 the community here has come to grips with the fact that 2.3 roms all have some kind of fundamental speed issue and 2.2 roms here have been done to death and in many cases still have some issues (gps in cm roms, hardware in 2.2 sense roms).
2.1 is the fastest rom on the hero and has the most fully working hardware.
so they're focusing on making the phone quick and useful rather than doing fancy things too slowly.
I too love the newer sense and gb roms, but always end up going back to the fastest roms (Vanilla Eclair mostly, some 2.1 sense roms also) for daily use.
i did already port it to hero gsm.
but it is based on the cdma you will get that it is not connected to a network.
but you can recieve call's and wifi is working, camera is working. if you turn on gps then wifi will schutdown.
i will not release this version , i had some spare time left this weekend.
i used LV kernel and if the kernel is warm is runs better then the release that is posted for the gsm.
only if i know how to port a cdma rom to gsm

[Q] 5Ghz wifi problem...

I currently use stock rooted MT4G, but have started to enjoy the Virtuous Unity Glacier ROM that gives us Sensation's abilities. I have noticed that normally MT4G finds 5ghz wifi w/ no prob, but w/ Virtuous Unity it's gone. I want to find out if someone has a way to restore the support in not only the GB builds, but now also the ICS builds that share the same problem. Before anyone brings up wiki on this issue of whether MT4G supports 5Ghz and starts a flame war, I have both bands running in my house and have even done wifi calling through the 5Ghz band, so don't bother quoting specs. Need further proof: URL pdf.eccn.com/pdfs/Datasheets/Broadcom/BCM4329.pdf I believe the issue has something to do with how the kernel is compiled with the bcm4329.ko module. There may be a switch or parameter not being set in the module's build files (written in c) before a build is initiated. The resulting .ko file seems different depending on which phone it's being used on. Obviously this is a senior developer/kernel jockey question and I lack the know how to do this myself, but it's an important issue considering every developer wants to put out as bug-free a build as possible.
Any ideas?
Spec:
MT4G unlocked, and rooted. 4ext Recovery
Factory MT4G w/ GB and Virtuous Unity Glacier 1.27

Hey I have asked the same question before but got no answer, I know nothing about what you wrote but I would love to have it working again.... I also have a dual band router that sends out both 2.4 gHz and 5.o gHz freq. at the same time and it is great for media. I would love to see this fixed.

Froyo never supported this for MyTouch 4G.
The official GB kernel came with 5Ghz support. Oddly, no developer never had support in their custom kernels. If you MUST have it, you could try flashing the stock kernel (extract it from the official ROM) or learn C and have at. This has been asked about many times and no one with the skills seems to want to add it.
If someone knows otherwise please correct me.

I got the mt4g on the first day it was sold and 5 ghz wireless n did work on the froyo version and all of the stock roms (until the Android 2.3.4 Software build number 2.32.531.1 - when they partially broke it - it worked but not consistently .. see support.t-mobile.com/message/75827 ).
My take is that the kernels are using a generic driver that works for all of the similar devices that did not have the 5 ghz N. There are very few phones that have 5 ghz wireless N - so I assume that the linux kernel either isn't from the HTC mt4g source or the wifi driver for some reason has been changed out, but a dev would need to weigh in on that.
I think the bindroid runmed 2.5 supports 5. (Don't quote me) and IMO its better maintained then virtuous, so I would recommend checking it out. I think youll see a massive improvement all around.

Sense 4.0

Anyone going to take a swing at 100% copying the EVO LTE user interface for a ROM? Doesn't seem to difficult. Made a post about it earlier but it got way off topic and died
(PLEASE DON'T STRAY OFF SENSE 4.0)
I'm felling what you want. I also want a Sense 4.0 rom for the 4G, but I don't think there'll ever be one. If there is, I'll be sure to tell you about it. Hope this helps!
As long as people are still making EVO 4G roms, they'l end up making it lol.

Im fairly confidant that we'll see sense 4.0 running on our OG Evo's. With the Firerat mod and darktremors apps2sd freeing up ram and internal storage, I think its possible. As I understand it, HTC scaled back the sense UI from 3.5 because it was laggy, and if we were able to rock 3.5 on our Evo's, I don't see why not. At least i hope so, anyway. We've got some pretty awesome devs around here.

Odds are anything useful GUI-wise will get ported to 3rd party ICS ROMs. Many basic features of leaked Sense4 snapshots are already there just not quite as slick. I.e. lockscreen widgets.
And remember, ICS runs much quicker than Gingerbread to start with. Only issue with an unlocked Sense4.0 ROM would be running out of space on the device.
Just a heads up

Seems that the folks over in the incredible forum have been busy... Might be something to track, if they get theirs running, wouldn't be too difficult to port it over to evo...
