Just want to test the XDA waters and see what gb sense rom people like the best? Asking because I've come to realize I prefer the sense infrastructure (i.e. camera, dialer) but at the same time prefer LPP as my launcher (smoother and more functional imo). I love the sense 3.0 lockscreen hence wanting a gb sense rom, so I can push the lockscreen onto it.
So basically what is the lightest, smoothest gb sense rom?

It's made by Raffy and it's called insertioncoin
http://android-maisters.thedevboard.com/t53-portrommt4g_insertcoin_glacier_v10released
It has many 3.0 features but not carousel, it's really fast at 1GHz w/ conservative gov.
Hmm, cool thanks for the tip...I'm aware of Raffy but haven't flashed one of his roms...he was the first to get a sense 3.0 out for the mytouch 4g right?
I might give it a shot, but so far I've only flashed XDA roms...lol I like to keep it in the family

You can just look in Developers section. RoyalPanache is based on Canadian Glacier release - that's as stock (and thus bug-less) as you can get. And it has all the Sense 3.0 goodies ready, too. Any ROM derived from that release is functional.

Shalom my brother Lol yeah I'm quite familiar with the dev section, just thought I'd ask for peoples' opinions...sometimes it's easier than flashing 10 different roms, though for sure the only way to know is to try it oneself...
I'm on virtuous fusion now, and while it's great, I'm thinking a 2.1 sense rom will leave more ram available, which is my primary reason for switching away from the 3.0 fusion...plus I've been getting spotty data on this rom, so I'm hoping I'll get stronger results on something else.
Royal Panache. all is great, fast, smooth and haven't ran into any problems. Wifi data speed is fast also. fast ping and fastest download was around 19.33 mbps.
I love Faux123's Orange GB, he basically just took the canadian/panache release and sped it up a bit. I was running his Orange Glacier before all the GB releases and it felt like stock on steroids.
The only issue I had was remapping the genius button to google search, he moved the google search app to a user app, so I just had to make it a system app and everything was great. The HTC Sense 3.0 camera even works on it, and I couldn't get it to run on raffy's insertcoin (which I like, also) or virtuous (another amazing one).

So far
So far my personal fav would have to be eViL D's Virtuous Fusion.
Only thing I have found thus far being noticeably wrong is that the actual calendar app isn't scaled right but the widget is scaled fine so thats what I use instead.

I would like to install a custom ROM that was NOT ported over from another device. A ROM close to stock but without all the BS programs + some expanded capabilities. Seems like there are only ROM's that were ported from other devices available which I appreciate but would like to try at a later date when they are more stable/complete.
i second that motion sir

well if you mean close to stock as in how the phone came then the only thing we have is Iced-Glacier, if you mean close to stock as in vanilla or AOSP then you need to look into Cyanogen Mod. those are the only 2 that are not ports from another device
i've been using ice glacier for a while and so far so good.
i dunno, but i kinda like the stock sense interface, just wanted the bloatware removed, and ice glacier fits perfectly. Sounds like that's what you want as well
maybe when CM 7 is released i might go back to that
Man..dunno how you could want something more than Cyan, the speed increase is insane, it runs buttery smooth now. I am not a fan of MySense though so that may have swayed me a bit...
I love mysense copy and paste, and new Evil-HD port (I know you didnt want a port because you want something stable) is the most stable rom i've run yet, Tried CM ran into little issues, Tried Iced Glacier ran into speed issues and force closes and random reboots... Since installing Evil-HD I like sense even more. (Sense HD is like the upgraded version of mysense looks way better)

Wait until CM7. Gingerbread cut and paste is improved over froyo and zinx is already working on it. Should be niiiice.

I was not joking. It was a serious question.
Are senseless roms for people who use different launchers? So if I use LPP for example, it'd be better if I used a senseless rom? Does sense drain battery/impact performance? Thanks a lot. Switching from a fascinate and trying to learn the basics.

To be honest, senseless roms are for people who like to have the close to stock experience or wish to use apps/widgets a-la-carte and want the flexibility to try different combinations of these without having the rom be saddled with bloatware.
Keep in mind though that senseless roms dont look as pretty as sense based roms and many features that a sense rom offers like messaging, email widgets have no real or good parallels in the stock/senseless world. So in getting flexibility you lose some really nice features and well the phone looks plainer.
I have had to work very hard to make CM & MIUI work for me by using 3rd party apps/widgets - wasnt easy finding good ones! Sense roms (especially the desire z ports) on the other hand had everything I needed and then some.
That was my personal experience.

Yes, yes and yes!
However you would also want to flash a different kernel, and IMHO it would make your rom quicker than stock. By the term senseless keep in mind these are still sense based roms but without rosie ans some other things defined by the individual DEV.
Thanks for your guys responses. I only use LPP so Rosie would be of no use to me. The problem I see with senseless roms is that they don't seem to be updated as much as sense ones. And which one would you recommend to use, skyraider's or Lou's. I would guess they are pretty similar. can't wait to receive my incredible on Friday

i'm using lous w/ kernal#4 so far no problems. Find it much quicker than the sense roms i was using before.
If you use 3rd party for most apps (chomp for message, gmail for email, lp for launcher) there really isn't much use for a sense rom IMO.
+ Lous has the smooth icons and still the sense lock screen, fine by me.
Enjoy owning the best phone in the world!

I would say Lou's hands down, of course I'm sure you will find other opinions on here. He does great work! and dresses his roms up nice.
As you become more familiar with flashing roms and what you can and cannot remove from a rom it is fairly easy (at least I think it is) for you to flash for example I use Lou's 2.1.3 rom and remove whatever you don't like on the rom. This way there are many options and you can get it just the way you want.
If you decide to jump into this you might want to consider getting some nice apps. I use Root Explorer, Titanium Backup, AppBrain, Adfree on a reg basis. I save my contacts to my SD card as well. This way I can switch between roms as I please have all my info stored and can swith basicly within a hour to a different flavor whenever I want. Oh and yes I use LPP on all my roms as well.
Hope this helps some
lou's sense-less and kernal #04 or 06 work for me. Ive grown very tired of sense.. what is it now 4 or so years between WM and android.lol though I do have to say running sense on teh DINC by far was the best exp.. no lag and it was smooth.. but I like options..so senseless made more sense to me.. keep the base.. and customize the launcher without the bloat..lol
Always loved Redemptive by Lou.
Virtuous is the best sense app I've used and I've tried em all. Mounting, GPS, everything works and its fast. I use a sense Rom cause I like the messaging. I HATE that stupid Ass smiley instead of a return key you see in all the non-sense roms and I don't want to use an extra app to text!

I digging it too. Had to switch the font, but otherwise, TB is hella responsive. We'll see how the battery life is after a full drain and recharge.
IMO Its all about preference. You gotta ask yourself if y like stock android or sense (among other overlays)
Personally. I havent experienced a rom smoother than Ice Glacier yet. I was surprised since CM7 was less than half the size but smoothness was way behind Ice. IMO Sense roms are more optimized for our chipsets since thats what HTC works on most so im Sense all the way
It really is all personal preference. Especially with a phone like this with so many options the differences in performance are going to be nominal. I personally love CM so that's what I am running. There are people that love sense and there are ROMs out there for that. A better thread for you would have been things you are looking for and we could suggest the best ROM suited for your needs.

Well as you know Sense based rom specially IG is not actually full rom as it just modified and comparing to current CM7(AOSP2.3.X:GB) its 1/3rd of the port size. But as IG heavily depends on Sense based framework it will be little smoother but you can make CM7 smooth also IDK what people talking about it lags as if I even run at 368mhz(max)/245(min)/ondemand (gov) I get NO lag.

+1 / with carlos2384 ... Jaywan's Nexus S is hands down my favorite ROM so far on this device. Jaywan - udaman! I'm pumped about v2.2 for Nexus S !!
...I did just flash the new Liquid Metal port (RoyalLiquid) and it's quiiiiiite interesting and unique....since it appears it's froyo based, I'm not sure it's gonna steal my heart long term from the Nexus S ROM but at least for now, it's REALLY nice to have options!! (especially when they're as cool as this)
Thanks again Jaywan, Royalknight6190, and TeamRoyal !
I am currently trying ThunderBolt. I like it. I came from Iced which was giving me all sorts of funny business.

So a while back I started using cyanogen 7 and liked it for the most part. But I started to miss HTC's sense. That was one of the main reasons I went with an evo and not an epic. So now I am looking for a Rom that has both Android 2.3 and the look and feel of the new HTC sense. Preferred something under a stable release. Is there a dev out there that has something like that released. I start work in like 15 mins and would like to be able to just roll home and reflash.

The Evo official software version is at 2.3.3.
You could also try Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS 5. It's pretty smooth for a Sense ROM, and it's got all of the Sense goodies.

MikG ROM is exactly what you're looking for, there is also Synergy ROM, that'll you'll have to sign up for a beta for.

I was looking for community feedback on some of the ROM's as in what would be best and what others think of said ROM's.
Thanks to everyone who gave me opinions and big thanks to the links. Going to look into both MikG as well as alliance. I like the screens from Alliance but I am not seeing screens for MikG maybe ther is a off XDA site with them.

Hi everyone, I apologize ahead of time if these questions are redundant and can be found in different forums. I recently received a MyTouch 4G from T-Mobile as a replacement for my wife's lost Samsung Galaxy S 4G and am trying to set up a stable system for her.
I've already downgraded, rooted, and installed a custom ROM (currently CM7 7.2.0 RC1) but wanted to ask a few questions.
1) ROM recommendation? Rock-Solid ROM with non-buggy WiFi calling is a must since we have poor reception at home. I imagine that a ROM based off of an official T-Mobile base for the Glacier would be best but I'm not sure.
1a) For such a ROM, is there a preferred standout kernel?
2) Is there any hope for ICS roms to gain solid WiFi Calling capability?
3) Out of curiosity, why are there so many ROM ports? Are they just as stable and functional as one specifically for the Glacier?
Thanks a lot for your answers! I know it's very subjective but I'm hoping to get some good feedback so I don't have to keep deleting her data as I try out different things
Virtuous Unity is an oldie but goodie and everything works. Use the kernel it comes with.
There is always hope for any feature. Wifi calling will work well on ICS eventually. Give it time.
There are many very good roms for other phones that port well. The MyTouch 4G has two "sister" phones that share the same SoC and port easily. Why build a whole new ROM when you can port? Also, keep in mind that a non-ported ROM has to be compiled from source which, for the most parrt, limits you to AOSP, AOKP and CyanogenMod. We have lots of that. Any sense ROM that isn't based off of a glacier/panache build is going to be a port, as well as MIUI.
Edit: I almost forgot. Android Revolution HD is right up there with VU in functionality and is still supported. There is a camcorder fc, but a fix can be found in the thread. Doubleshot cam and 720p setting, as I recall.

I used to have an HTC Sensation (which my 1-year old son tragically dropped into a cup of joe) and ARHD was definitely one of the most stable and popular ROMs.
However, because of his commitment to a stock experience I had to flash several add-ons to get desirable tweaks (battery%, ultra-smooth rosie, extended quick-settings, custom power-button settings).. are these also available for the Glacier version? (I read the thread and it seemed like the latest version does not have these yet?)
Thanks again!
ps. Is it best to keep the kernel that comes with it?
flash rc tweaks. There is a link in that thread somewhere. Also, that kernel is really good. If you don't like it you could try thederekjay's sense kernel, but I doubt you will need to change.
The ROM called LeeDroid is good too, I've been using it for several weeks, no problems.

Call me blasphemous but Sense feels a lot smoother than CM.. have you seen how smoothly the screen transitions ? It also looks more polished IMO.
Having said that, is there any way to adjust the haptic feedback level on ARHD? It's too strong for my liking.. tried to search but didn't turnip anything.
