[Q] Problems with flash player on KF with CM9 - Kindle Fire General

Hello,
at first sorry for my english, is not the best.
I installed CM9 on my KF. Almost everything works fine.
But Adobe Flash 11 do not work. Flash videos can´t be played.
Can anybody help?
thanks in advance. Have a nice day.

Its a bug that the devs are working on. I believe its because there's no hardware acceleration yet.

Waiting Also
I'm waiting also. Same issue.

Yeah, something to do with the 3.0 kernel. No hardware acceleration until our awesome devs get that straightened out. Sounds like they're making great progress though!

CM7 for now
If you want to have flash, and all the other goodies of HWA like Netflix, and Youtube. You will have to wait for the new kernel. I know its being worked on, so you may just have to "suffer" with CM7 for now.

Latest ics with video fix question

Now that everything is almost fixed, I'm thinking of flashing the ics on my kindle. But the question is that do you need root access to get the ics working? Because I got the 6.2.2 update and i lost my root access. And is the ics rom working properly? Such as hardware accel. And any bugs that needs to be fixed? Because I want it to be perfectly stable maybe I should wait more.

Video is only partially fixed. Youtube works, but needs to be in SD mode. Netflix is reported as not working.
HW acceleration is not ready yet. If video is your priority, stick with CM7 for now.
Custom ROMs need root as far as I am aware.
as posted above video is half fixed let's say more of patched but not 100% no Netflix yet but it is more responsive touch wise sound works great I moved my backups to my PC , I'm comfortable enough to make this my daily drive now cm7 is nice on my phone not a tablet, ICS and move on with your life
the ICS build is still way on the Beta side for me... Until the ICS rom has video and sound working as good as the Stock rom, I really don't see the point.
I got the Fire to use primarily as a media device and it currently using the stock rom works quite well at doing that. I don't need a pretty looking tablet if media abilities don't match.
ok
thanks for the information, until the video, bugs and hardware accel gets fixed,
i will just stay on stock rom.
Yes, the video stuff that needs fixed is making me stick with CM7 for now.
Stuff I tested
Netflix - does not work
Qloud - does not work
MX Media Player - works but performance is better in CM7
YouTube - SD works. HD does not.

[Q] Netflix issues with ICS builds

Hi guys am I the only one who simply cannot get Netflix to work with these new ICS builds. All that happens is we get a black screen with sounds.
Does anyone have or know of a workaround for this? and is anyone else having this issue?
Many thanks
Mark

It is a problem with all the AOSP based ics roms. All the touchwiz based roms it plays perfect, but you give up tablet mode as these roms have no tablet mode..so ics midnote, criskelo, rocket rom work fine, but no imelka, stunner, etc....
Good man much obliged to you!
This is pretty sad, I haven't tried Netflix yet on my ICS note and didn't know that it is not working! Hopefully the official ICS will come out soooon!
Don't let it discourage you. Just use a TW based rom until AOSP gets it figured out...in fact I'm using Midnote 3.1 at 265 dpi so Netflix is in the tablet mode...I use it all the time and have no issues...
I was on Rocket Rom and then Criskelo, but Midnote based on3.1 is significantly faster everywhere...and it's very stable.
cool
Yeah I just installed rocket ROM 1.5 and everything works now.I have used all others except midnote because the install instructions are just too daunting. This is perfect for me, working s notes also

CM9 does not support any HardWare Acceleration at the moment, therefore no streaming video.
If video streaming is a must, use a CM7 ROM like Hellfire.

If you want to watch video, your best experience right now is probably going to be on the stock Kindle software, followed closely by a CM7 ROM. CM9 is a no-go, even with the new kernel, for watching video. Even if the video works, its just too buggy for now.

The quick answer to your question is as follows:
Stock kindle software uses a kernel (think of it like the heart of a rom) for the Android Gingerbread OS since it is in fact a modified build of Android Gingerbread. Up until recently the CM9 builds available have been also running a gingerbread kernel, however in recent days a community developer named Hashcode has produced a Kernel that is supposed to be for an ICS rom, this kernel is version 3.0 with some other numbers after it that I forget, often it is referred to as 3.0 anyways. Basically the 3.0 kernel lets us do on ICS what we can on Gingerbread, watch Netflix, Youtube, play games requiring a little more than standard graphics, etc...
Given that the stock OS is being developed by amazon and has been worked for the device you best bet for the time being is to use the stock rom and possibly modify it with the android market if you desire. Read up on the forums about what's been going on.

Which Jelly Bean ROM you have on your Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi?

I believe there are three major JB ROMs development going on as far as I can see. Some JB ROMs have more issue than others, some does not. And we are so grateful for these developers taking time and giving us these ROMs. and we should encourage them more, so please donate and say THANK YOU.:good:
and now, I am dead curious who's using which JB ROMs and their feedback, what they run into, issues, suggestions etc.
if anyone gives their feedback here, this would be wonderful for average users who's looking around and trying to figure out each of these JB ROMs.
Looking forward your valuable responses!

First of all, the first link is an ICS ROM not JellyBean.
With that out of the way, both CM10 and AOSP are running the same kernel so you will not see much difference in performance. CM10 with have more features then AOSP will have because AOSP is a "pure" experience from Google source.
It depends on your preference but I like CM10.

Rear Camera works at the moment for AOSP and CM10. That is why I said the kernel is the same. Right now, pershoot is working on getting CM9 to RC status and then will be working on fixing the front camera and other fixes.

I'm using CM10 and facing problem like original 3.1 ROM that I let it charging over night and the tab dead could not re-star again .I have to open the back cover removed the batteries socket and put it back and can star again ,is happened to me 3 times .
And other problem is Google play not working properly many time I put the install button but it not response .Almost other works perfect.
I'm using CM 10 and have been for about a week now.
Very nice!
My thanks to all the geniuses that made that possible!
I am, however, considering replacing it with a ROM that allows Flash. Unless I can find a way to get Flash working. Amazon Instant Video runs on Flash, which makes me wonder what they are going to do when the Fire upgrades to JB...
I don't use the tablet much, as my GNexus (also running CM10) does all I really need to do, but I do use it for videos and games.
Can I get any recommendations on whether I should switch to something like Galaxy Task, or just go back to ICS?

I downloaded Flash directly from Adobe's site as they pulled out from Play store. I was looking for it, and then read couple of posts, and they said download it directly from adobe. I am attaching Flash apk file here that worked for AOSP ROM that I have on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi (GT-P7510). It is a bit laggy, but it works. Chrome browser has some issue with it too, in fact on Google Nexus 7 has the same thing, so believe it is generic Google JB thingy.
I flashed with AOSP ROM on my galaxy tab (GT-P7510 wifi), and have been using for several days. I was planing to go back to original stick ICS (USA), but decided to not to because it made my galaxy tab (GT-P7510 wifi) very fast, and buttery smooth! it is almost feel like I got 'new' tablet. Even my wife, when she picked my tablet first time after I flashed, said Wow what did you do!? (she has new iPad!). Anyway, so far did not notice any issue (other than we all know front cam does not work), but again I have not done any heavy testing or heavy games yet on it.
I picked AOSP ROM over CM10, because I like pure Google JB experience (like my new Google Nexus 7!). I am closely monitoring the developer threads for any new update. I know they demonstrated working front cam, but it seems like it breaks other part, so I am sure it will be get fixed soon
I've been using CM10 since MapleSyrup started it and continued with pershoot taking over. I really like how nicely it works and the good outweighs the few times for the wifi dropping out or the sod after charging. pretty easy/fast to just reboot so it doesn't matter too much.

Well, I have HP Touchpad with WebOS and Android CM9 installed. Even if there are several issues on TouchPad using CM9, I can still live with it, after all I switch from WebOS to Android to play some games, so considering simple reboot or turn on airplane mode on and off to fix Wifi dropping issue is not really deal breaker for me. It is the JB's smoothness and how fast it is what really attracts me the most.

Cm13 in progress!!

The awesomeness of the play still amazes me. It's still alive and being developed for I really really hope we can get controls and everything working! That would be beyond mazing.

I wish we had at least CM11 with full controls support. As 5.x isn't so amazing as some people think and 6.x may not work so good on our device (however it should), maybe better to try make something from 11?
anyone wants to test AOSP 6.0 or cm13 for Xperia Play.. let me know.. I need help in flashing it through ABD sideload. or if comeone can try on their own.

Heh maybe CM13 on xplay will work perfectly xD
I using legacyxperia nightly roms and CM11 have blackscreen sometimes (restart is needed) and camera is still not working.
CM 12.1 is near perfect, but apps are little slow. And Please don't make same mistake as legacyxperia. They moved "calling" application on SD. I have class 10 SD and when someone is calling, i hear ringtone but i need wait few secs for app to load... it rly sucks ;P

what rom is that? cause i tried aosp and cm12 and the gamepad wasn't working, not usable in game at least...and the overall rom speed wasn't that great, not daily usable at least for me, i've been using jb and now on ics and if the rom gets to that speed i'll definetly change..but for now i'm staying on ics for good gaiming and daily use, and i'll gladly get to lollipop, even if there aren't great changes, not any new features i can't live without...
Inaroom use cm 12.1 from LegacyXperia project.
I used gamepad in apps like emulators And if i remember good there was problem with circle. If you pressed circle for example in emulator, it reacts like back button. But it was fixable by some file editing.
And cm10 is near good, but i miss camera... And after installing some apps, it's slow.

For me ICS is also the best choice for Xperia Play, it offers the best overall performance.
From CM10 and higher probably touchpads will never properly work on the Xperia play, the only way they would work is if Sony realized the official drivers which will never happen.
D-pads are fixable but the development of CM for 2011 devices is so slow that it will become useless as the Xperia Play is becoming more and more obsolete.
sorry for offtopic but david7380 what rom do you use ?

I use Neo2Play V2.7 and DoomKernel extracted from markphyton Xperia Play Z Rom.
Here is the link to Neo2Play Rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283653
Here is the link to markphyton`s rom, you have to extract the kernel from inside the Zip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402227
That is the best overall performance I have found for the XPlay, although as I have mentioned before there are some apps that just make the Xperia play unusable, for example the Facebook App.
