Are there any ROM without Google Maps? - Blade General

As the title predicts, are there any roms coming without big brother apps such as Google Maps? Or perhaps a ROM that simplifies the uninstalling of these apps that one might want to uninstall?
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

CyanogenMod is as open source as possible, only proprietary parts are a few hardware drivers, it doesn't include any Google apps, not even the Market (unless you install it separately).

BTW u can easily uninstall them using titanium backup from any rom.

Google Proprietary apps

Hello,
I recently restored a semi-bricked G1 to working order running the latest version of Cyanogenmod. However, the proprietary apps did not seem to translate over, i.e. the Google Apps.
Any way that I can restore them or download them somewhere?
Thanks a million.
You're missing the market and gmail. If you are i think cyanogen has a zip file called google add-on which gives the goohle propietary apps.

I am also missing the ability to sync to my Google contacts as well. I will try to find what you suggested.

Just flash that over the top.. no wipe.
Cyanogenmod hasn't included google apps for a while.. they got all shirty about it and sent him a cease & desist letter.

[APP] Google Maps 4.4.0 [Request]

Hello,
Can't download Google Maps 4.4 from the Market, it's not visible in Serbia.
Any volunteers for uploading?
Big thanks!
mate, just wait a bit for mr brut to come out with 4.4 instead.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887
Google maps 4.4.0 and brut-appmod seem to co-exist btw.
I was happily using Brut-appmod (great mod, btw!), but noticed significant memory leak I couldn't trace. It went down to 40 MB for no apparent reason.
Was it the Brut mod or something else? I don't know, but I've recently wiped clean my HTC Desire and wouldn't push my luck further.

Hello,
Before the brut is released, You can download and install market enabler
http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/downloads/list
With this program you can change your location (like US) and download all software you want.
PS : i Think you need root access.
I guess this is legal so I've uploaded it here. It's on my dropbox so I can't guarantee you how long it will be on there.
If this is not legal, please remove it mods.

Yes, I've already considered that, but am still not ready to root. This is my first Android phone and I don't have enough experience for rooting.
AppBrain app does great job for everything else, but not for Maps.
Thanks for the help!
Thanks

Android Market v3.3.11 Update

Hi readers.
I've got a weird update method for the Android Market. The Android Market version on my phone was 3.2.0 before the v3.3.11 update. I didn't know there was an update for Android Market until I went to the Application Information of Android Market, I forced closed it, cleared its data and cache. I opened the Android Market app and realized it looked different from before, I went to the Settings of Android Market and saw the version was updated from 3.2.0 to 3.3.11.
I cleared the data of Android Market was to solve the problem of missing downloaded apps on 'My apps' section, this method definitely works for me.
I just want to share my experience with all of you, and hope this method works for u guys if u have problems updating the Android Market on your phone.
What ROM and Kernel I am using, you can find it on my signature.
Thanks for reading. =)
I have old market and killed updater....new ones are toooo laggy ;]
This update is much faster than previous ones, u may want to try it. Before you try this, you may want to backup your old Android Market by using Titanium Backup(I highly recommend this app) or other apps that can backup and restore apps.
There's one bad thing about the New Android Market, it is not able to download multiple apps at the same time, but the Old Android Market is able to.

Well... I stay on old one

I had same problem. But few days earlier, I tried mobgenie software on desktop to install the google play service on my samsung galaxy y with hyperion rom. Amazingly it worked. Better use latest google play service (.apk file).
Hope this process will work on any android device with custom rom.

will work on any stock based rom
you just have to wipe data and then mount system and flash the zip
you dont need to install the rom again as you are wiping data
if you dont wipe data it will bootloop
My device is comprised of the api 22 sdk and moverio sdk. Is there any way to get around the issue of my "custom, stock rom" not being compatable with the installer?

creating a ROM without permissions

Hi all. I am sick of the likes of google etc taking liberties with my privacy, so I was wondering if it would be possible to create a ROM without google being able to access anything and everything on my phone?

It's called... CM without GAPPS or MIUI.
I use MIUI as it's independent from Google. Yes it's got Chinese stuff but the good thing is no Chinese stuff work out of China so you are all covered. Or use AppOpps

Thanks for the quick reply. So using CM without gapps, and google (or anyone else for that matter) will not have access to my phone?
Are all custom ROM's independent from google, or just CM and MIUI? I thought almost all custom ROM'S are created from AOSP, which google makes available. Surely they can still spy on you using ASOP, because it is google's software?

android is made by Google.. also u can't escape Google in todays age..
the most u can do is not flash gapps ,other than going for other OS..
many custom roms do not include gapps with them..u can check the rom before downloading it...

If you want privacy, don't use a smartphone.
You might be able to get rid of most (not all without breaking rom functionality) of the Google stuff, but what about apps from other companies/developers ? What about Samsung ? Use AppOps/similar (or App Settings if your rom allows you to use Xposed) to set/limit individual app permissions.
