DO NOT FLASH TO A DEVICE WITH AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER. ATTEMPTING TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN A BRICK !!!!
Upgrading to 2.3.6 will more than likely prevent you from downgrading to any previous version of Gingerbread.

I am waiting for the fruitcake to upgrade. But with the CM9 project almost ready as a daily driver I wonder if it is best to skip it.

Hello, Could you let me know the process of upgrading, i am currently on 2.3.4 version, thanks for your support in advance

is this the OTA update that will be coming out once the soak is done? Do you update just like you would with a regular OTA? This is the US ATT English version correct?

i am also waiting for fruitcake

Anybody been brave enough to confirm if this will indeed brick a device with an unlocked bootloader?

As with most of these awesome STOCK firmware sbf's this will most likely brick your device if you don't know what your doing and have an already unlocked boot loader.
If your running locked tight boot loaders flash away, I'm ripping this sucker apart for the webtop that we lost in the fruitcake posts.
THANK YOU OP!!!

Granted but also flashing anything with a not unlocked Boot.img file or I belive it was the CG51.smg within the sbf will make you have to jump hoops to get it back up and running. Using fastboot and another pudding reflash.
Ive done this with the 2.3.4 sbf just for kicks due to me not having that burnt efuse its still a pinta using stock sbfs best thing to do is unpack then flash the correct CG's needed via fastboot, or unpack and repack the whole think. I couldn't break the repacking part on custom sbf's.

Would it be possible to swap the bootloader in the 2.3.6 sbf with the 2.3.4 unlockable bootloader in Edgan's sbf ? hmmm...

Im all stock. I just want the new OTA update and not have to wait for the soak test to be done.

No but there is a tread about sbf's and fastboot linked in the pudding thread that has alot of good information on both subjects check it out you can how ever repack an 2.3.6 sbf with a 2.3.6 boot.img (from one of the roms out there converted to .smg ofcourse) and repack it that should work.

Another question - Does anyone have a FULL 2.3.4 sbf file that I can swap the 2.3.4 unlockable bootloader into? I've got a service 2.3.4 sbg - But i need a full one.... anyone? please?

2.3.23 Full SBF on MDW Now

http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/5633-droid-x-2-3-32-full-sbf.html
I've not flashed it, but the links are currently working.
There's An App For That
For those of you who don't make it in time to get the SBF before it's taken down, don't worry. If you have the TBH app, you are good to go. Not only do they have the 2.3.32 update, but also the 2.3.32 SBF in case you wish to go back. Thank God for TBH. Way to go guys - don't know what I'd do without you.
Enjoy everyone! You're welcome.
We normally discourage openly posting the content from the TBH app but this is an exception in order to make this file available to anyone who might need it.
Thank you for posting links back to MDW and promoting the use of the TBH app.
Good luck and happy droiding!
does anyone have the 2.3.23 update.zip, all the links are dead on MDW. i got the new 2.3.23 sbf file but need the update.zip so I can get onto 2.3.23
I need that zip too. I was able to sbf to 2.3.32 but the bootloader version stays on 30.01.

email me if you need the update file, i think it was pulled
You can also get it from the TBH app, with the nice upside of supporting TBH

just flash the sbf without updating, worked like a charm coming from my bricked DX.
remember to pull the battery after you update when the droid x animation begins to boot loop. then hold the home button when booting up again, then data/factory reset from the recovery and select reboot system now.
z4root works, confirmed. just installed Fission 2.3 just minutes from sbf'ing 2.3.23.
It's important to remember that flashing the SBF will not update the bootloader whereas the update.zip will update to 30.04 but will not update the baseband.
That is the primary difference as well as the update.zip being rooted and deodexed with busybox installed.

The SBF has a baseband update in it, but for almost everyone it won't matter because the baseband hasn't changed from 2.3.15. I think only people still on eclair or the froyo leak were the only ones who are behind on the baseband.

Need help getting off 2.3.13 back to OTA

I want to get off 2.3.13 and go to back to OTA updates, Ive tried searching and finally gave up........I want to download a SBF to get me back to stock so i can get the latest version. I believe my phone was on 2.2 OTA, bootloader version is 30.03.
I have RSD 4.8, Im rooted, have root explorer.
Long story short I deleted some factory .apk's and I flashed this SBF (2.3.13) to update OTA......not realizing it wouldnt fix my problem. Learned my lesson and to turn them to .bak's next time.
please help!
If it's some bloatware you can always get it back on the moto page

I have all the bloatware on and working.......i think that 2.3.13 is one of the leaked versions and it wont allow me to OTA update......it doesnt even show me an update is available now with the 2.3.13 build
If you're on the froyo leak, you need to flash back to 2.1, then take the OTA updates
If you are on boot loader 30.03, then you need to flash the sbf 2.3.15
oops, didn't see the bootloader was posted, my mistake, 2.3.15 is the correct sbf
I thought there was some bootloader problem thats why i put the info in the post.
Thank you guys, can someone PM me some info on where to find the SBF for 2.3.15.........Ive had no luck googling it.
now officially bricked the phone trying to fix this.
Im in need of some serious help here. I can still flash SBFs but it says mem-map blank service req'd. I downloaded the SBF from

Do you have to activate this device again after you do the downgrade? Because I'm in Europe and my friend have problems with activating it and removing the Simlock when he bought it. He had to contact both Motorola and Verizon many times before they helped him. Even though, he bought it directly from Motorola, it had a Verizon simlock (and there is no Verizon in Europe) and phone was not activated (and it's supposed to be activated in Verizon network).
So, my question is, will it be necessary to do it again? Thank you for any help!
where could i get sbf?
Here's the 2.26.20 SBF. Then you'll have to take the OTAs for the 2.26.60 and 3.8.7 updates.

You can download the updates and flash via recovery
My main objective is to gain root but to my understanding I must downgrade back to 3.8.7, root, and then upgrade via TBH gingerbread update. Ok maybe Im doing something wrong but everything goes fine up until when it says something about "re-enumerating" on RSD. After that the process fails with an error code of 0x703E....any suggestions on what I should do to fix this problem?

[Stock] [UCKF1][06/29/11] UCKF1 No Bootloaders! 1 click or Full Odin Back To Stock GB

I am not responsible for any damage to your phone, computer, home, girlfriend or family pet. By using this, you release the creator from any liability.
I would like to thank icezar1 for his help with this project. I could not have done this without him.
I decided to start this thread because I saw several roms saying "flash back to stock Gingerbread", but they usually involved bootloaders, increasing your chance of bricking your phone. I searched and the closest thing I found to a safer way was a group of stock I9000 roms, but they were deodexed and zip aligned. Since we are using Captivates, I really wanted something designed for our phones, so I made this.
This is stock UCKF1, without bootloaders or a pit. I repackaged the rom (minus bootloaders/pit) into 1 file. The original firmware was downloaded from samfirmware.com. Also, I have tested this on my (only) phone, and it works.
The 3 file version was also downloaded from samfirmware.com. It is the exact same as stock, but it doesn't have bootloaders or a pit. I also tested this package on my (only) phone, and it works.
You will need 7zip to unpack the file. If you need 7zip, you can get it here.
If you haven't already upgraded to the new I897 Gingerbread bootloaders, you can get those >>HERE<<.
Stock UCKF1 No Bootloaders
Odin 3 File No Bootloaders
In the past, some phones have not responded well to 1 click flashes. If your phone is one of those, please don't use this. Use the 3 File version for Odin 1.8x.
Please make sure that your usb cable is plugged into a port in the back of the computer (#1 port on a laptop).
You will lose root by flashing this.
You will lose CWM by flashing this.
This is a wipe package, so don't forget to backup.
Instructions
0 Optional Reboot computer before beginning
0 Optional Convert to rfs (if on ext4)
0 Optional Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, clear Voltage Setting(if overclocked/undervolted), do a factory reset.
0 Optional Remove sim card and external sd
Download package
Extract with 7zip
Open One click or Odin 1.81
**place files in corresponding slots for odin 3 file only**
Put phone into DL mode
Check to see Odin recognizes phone (you will see the yellow box)
Click Start

I don't think there is a deodex/zipaligned KF1 out there yet. Some of the other folks in the stock thread (last i heard) were having problems with the deodexing. I really did this just as a flash to stock method before flashing a rom.

This is also a one click, but it doesn't have bootloaders (boot.bin and sbl.bin). Since bootloaders will cause a permanent brick, i thought it was kinda foolish to flash them just to return to stock before flashing a rom.

No, you wouldn't brick, unless something interrupts the bootloader flashing process.
The whole point of this 1-click with no bootloaders is to be able to flash to stock without running the risk of bricking your phone from a bad flash. There is no way to truly brick your phone with this 1-click since the bootloaders are never touched.
With that said, you should only use this 1-click if you have already flashed the KF1 bootloaders at least once before.
ok thanks i didnt think it would brick

And some of us prefer to use heimdall, so 3 file would be great.

[Q] What is the right way to update to 2.3.4?

I have found a lot of information on the forums about updating to 2.3.4 and ending up with a hard brick and am getting a little scared about it. I do think most of the bricks have to do with unlocking the bootloader (at least that's what I understood from the forums).
I currently have a rooted Atrix running 4.1.83. I don't have any other mods installed and I haven't unlocked my bootloader. At this point I just want to update my phone to 4.5.91 and have it be rooted. I don't care about unlocking the bootloader at all.
Which method is best for me? Can I just install the OTA update thru the notification I'm getting on my phone? Or do I need to follow one of the complex processes listed on the forums here. Once again, I don't really need to unlock my bootloader. I just need to be rooted after I update.
Thanks in advance.

I was rooted with webtop mod on 1.83 (no Pudding), and there was no soft brick - the install wouldn't get past verification and never actually modified the system. Rebooting after the failure would bring me right back to the previous state.
I ended up flashing 1.83 SBF, upgrading OTA, rooting, then restoring user apps from Titanium.
YMMV.
Sent from my Atrix using Tapatalk.
It seems, so far anyway, that if you OTA you get a new bootloader that will hard brick you if you try to revert to a previous version. DO NOT flash any sbf files that have a locked bootloader if you OTA! If you start with 4_1.8.3, unlock your bl with pudding, and install a KennethPenn or similar non-OTA based 2.3.4, you keep the original bootloader and can flash back to Froyo.
I have not seen it spelled out this clearly, so I hope this helps someone looking to upgrade. I recommend sticking to non-OTA versions for now.
After OTA update, what happen???
I have my Atrix rooted, and have sideloading. After downloading update (OTA), & start to instal the update, this appear to my screen.
Is this what called "brick"? What should I do now? Flash it?

Just want to know why, the file was corrupt or something. So I can prevent on my next try.
Sorry for my bad English. Thank anyway
Why on gods green earth would you ota update and eliminate the possibility of unlocking your bootloader? Just plain dumb if you ask me. Maybe at this point you see no purpose in it but I assure you that down the road you will wish you had not ran the ota. You don't have to worry about bricking your phone if the process is done correctly.
