windows 7-SGSII - Galaxy S II General

anyone know is there out there a windows phone 7 rom for galaxy SII?thank you in advanse!!

Not sure if trolling or just stupid...

Not as far as I know.
WP7 is closed source and only for the phones that have it natively.
Some phones like HD2 have it as a hack though, but that's through custom bootloader and having WM6.5 on it made it easier.
Though there are some MIUI rom customized with launcher7 and custom framework i don't know if it's made for SGS2.
You could just download launcher7 on an aosp rom, that really does do a difference. There's some other apps from the W7project that also mimics other WP7 features
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App

considering you only have 31 other posts il assume you're serious, no there isn't and there never will be, Its too hard to do and nobody would even bother doing it

Suddenly i read that he wrote "windows 7", I hope your not referring to the pc os. In that case: GET OUT of man haus!

I do believe there was a theme that looks like WP7 if you want that.

Not flaming, just asking:
1. Why did you get an android device if you wanted to install a different OS on it
2. Why are you asking about installing a desktop computer OS to a mobile phone
I realize you are probably asking about Windows Phone 7, but question 1 is still valid.
And what you probably saw was an S2 with the app "Launcher 7" installed on it, which is just a launcher that is made to look like and mimic Windows Phone 7.

There was rumor of a Windows Phone 7 version of the SGS2, which would have been a whole other name... But knowing Samsung, they wouldn't make things easy to flash in between versions. And anyways, it was only that: Rumors.

Windows Mobile 7

Will the Xperia be compatible with WM7 when it comes out?
Simple short question, but i am anxious to know.
Short answwer? Nobody knows, but probabl will be ported. Certainly not be official upgrade, but if they are able to put Linux on Experia, just couse it uses same processor arhitecture, that i am 99% sure they will port Windows 7 as well.
It is becomming more prety much like on desktop you can put Windows 7 on computer that came with Vista preinstaled right?
Windows Mobile 7 isn't the same thing a Windows Mobile 7. I am quite sure a version of WinMo7 will come out for the XPERIA when a beta version is available. There isn't a lot of new features in WinMo7 that I know of so for now I will use 6.1.

Wow, not a lot of new features? Have you seen the screens???
So I take back that statement. Screens look awesome.
Those pictures aren't official. Why are you guys making assumptions?
Well you can be sure WInMo 7 will have EVERYTHING rewritten. Every menu, SMS sending everything, no more ugly menus, so it is not that much abaut features iPhone has less of them for example. But if you will be moving through setting or stuff anywhere you won't see one single resemblance to WInMo 6. It will be like TF3D would be made to completly remove any WInMo 6 stuff there is, just different, so WinMo 7 is bringing buty to Windows Mobile, somthing that has been neglected from winmo 1 to 6. And a little tweaked for 6.5.

Because that all we know is that they are leaked pictures so we assume that this is WinMo7, for at least a bit. Can anyone guess the system specs?

Installing WIndows Mobile HTC HD2 ROM on the Nexus one

Hi,
I know it might be an odd question but:
Is it possible to flash an HTC HD2 ROM on the nexus one there by changing the OS to Windows Mobile?
I'm asking this because I see that the HW of both phone are almost the same but the nexus one is cheaper.
I want to buy the nexus one but if i don't like the android OS I wanted to know if I can change it to Windows Mobile with the sense interface?
Regards,
Michael
coming from htc diamond to g1 to magic and to nexus one,
HEll u will love the android interface..
WM is crap.
So i think i answered yr questions
No,
Bye!
I don't think I've heard of anyone coming from Windows Mobile to Android and wanting to go back.
When I started using Android from Windows mobile it was like going from swimming in mud to swimming in Evian.
Try it, if you live in the UK you have 14 days to return anyway (I think).
Something like this sounds like it'd break the time space continuum or something. Wasn't the HD2 skin made to look like the Sense Android interface in the first place?

Actually, Windows Mobile is the ONLY mobile OS that can play pretty much any video file I can throw at it; DivX, Xvid, avi, wmv, etc. And they played flawlessly. That's one of the things I sorely miss during my move to Android
And before you say it takes a lot of power or whatever to do this, I did all this on my Samsung SCH-i730, about 4 years ago. http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/samsung-sch-i730-verizon/4505-6452_7-31313312.html
I see absolutely no excuse for Android or the iPhone for not having this.

It isn't a matter of power, it is a matter of someone making an app to support it. The big names on WM are starting to take a long hard look at Android and developing for it. As well, the SDK has gotten much better and increased overall support for this and that.
I would be willing to bet that by Summer we have coreplayer, or something similar. As well, IIRC the actual HTC version of this phone with SenseUI has support for all of those video formats, except for maybe wmv. And those features and what not will be ported over to the Nexus One when that day comes.
Might as well install the iPhone OS while your at it
CorePlayer will hopefully make its way to Android soon...

We have been asked if we plan to release a version of CorePlayer for Android. The short answer is yes

Hmm, almost 6 months...
Just wait for a Sense Rom to hit the N1 then you can have the Sense interface and have android functionality.

Yeah, if you read through(not sure if you did or not) it is pretty clear the delay isn't because they can't make it, it is because they are waiting for and SDK/NDK that supports everything they need, since they want it to be a universal app.
From the sounds of it, Google is working on allowing them to include their libs natively in the near future, and when they do that they should be where they need to be.
WM6.5
Yes there should be a suitable rom, for Nexeus One.
And why not its a lot of fun having dual boot or may be tripple boot using Ubnuntu.
Ashrafali.
HTC HD2
Waking up old threads isn't good for health, they eat your brain.
And if for 10 months nobody cared enough to make such ROM - there's your answer. Because it's worthless waste of developer power. Want one? You can always try to do it yourself. I'm glad the developers work on other things, that are the future, and not the past.

At least here in the US the HD2 is really cheap, while the nexus is holding its price really well. In my local craigslist a hd2 costs around $170-250, while a nexus is $300-450. You may want to check ebay and just buy a hd2 for cheap and ship it to your country. However, i doubt you will be disappointed with android so nexus would be a better bet.
OK
Help me learn how to make one I will be glad just show me the way, few links and I will pick up, trust me I like to do this .............

HTC HD2
I came from Windows mobile to Android recently and too gush at the interface.
The only reason I'd go back to Windows mobile is for activesync functionality, mainly with outlook. (I have tried all the tricks btw)
Would the Sense ROM be a dual boot like the 4g phone has? Will it sync nicely with outlook?

What type of sick individual would do such a thing?!
JK buddy I had the Hd2 at one point but I'd much rather have Android any day of the week
I think it is dumb that people are attacking the author of this topic just because he enjoys using windows mobile. Personally I used to have a mogul and it was a great phone to me. I don't think all you android fan boys need to be all aggressive like that. I personally like android more just because of its rapid updating and ui. But that doesn't mean that other people wouldn't like windows mobile better. But on the other hand I might switch to windows mobile 7 it looks really nice and i'm sure they will get it together with some developers.

Android on Omnia 7

Android will never come to a Windows Phone. There are alternative apps, just look longer than a second. Don't complain here that there are not enough apps. Buy a cheap Android phone, search for apps or just forget about their existence on other platforms, but don't complain here.
Read before making snarky comments...

@NdotGdot -- shot yourself in the foot a bit there -- a quick check on XDA will tell you that several Windows phones have successfully been converted to Android. My own backup phone (for when/if I **** up my SGS2 -- is an HTC HD2 happily running CM10 or JB as the mood takes me and new ROMs appear).
...and in case you think I was just trolling -- I'm actually looking to see if there's an Android port for my brothers Omnia 7.
The guy (Teovenezia) wasn't complaining, just asking (he's obviously unhappy with his WP7 as is my brother).

The HD2 is a unique case. So your answer is NO the Omnia 7 will never run a stable, usable version of Android.
Go and buy an Android phone if you want Android, duh.

Some Windows Mobile phones can run Android, but non of the Windows Phone phones can. Windows Mobile is something else than Windows Phone. There won't be Android and that's it. Have fun or try to have fun with your Windows Phone or buy a phone with Android
i don't know you , but i have already loved you ! keep the good work you knight <3

will the future bring windows phone 7 to the desire hd?

hello guys
i just wanted to know if it will be possible to put windows phone7 as a second system on the dhd...i know i know windows phone 7 isnt a free sourcecode..but some people get it right on the hd 2..
so i was wondering if it wouldnt work for the dhd too?
at first: YES. it is possible.
BUT: it's a LOT of effort to port WP7 to the DHD and probably no one would do it.
so there would probably never be a working WP7 version on the DHD unless you get a really good DEV to work on this
I think there is a launcher called Windows phone 7. It looks exactly the same!
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
imo Windows 7 is not necessary on DHD.
Gingerbread is great.
im pretty sure WP7 wont come to the DHD as we first of all need the source code - which we most likely wont get.
+ imo the reason why we have working wp7 builds for the HD2 is, because it already has windows framework on it, which makes it way easier to port a newer version on it.
My question would be, will windows fans ever work out how to use search on XDA?, please this question has been asked time and time again.
Sry for the question bro actually im using revolution hd 5.11 and the windows phone 7 launcher the combination of windowd design and android software is great
I doubt it will. Even though WP 7 can be ported, almost all services in WP 7 will unuseable. The one that Im waiting is Meego or Ubuntu fully ported to DHD.
When I visit a big online store (which begins with an a ;P ) at this time all wp7 devices are really cheap xD. when you want wp7 I would recommend you to buy a htc hd7 for example. At the moment you will miss something like WOW effect of something new . Tested wp7 a while on my old hd2...there are many things missing (in OS itsself) and the hype came down after a short time after release of dft.
It would be good if can make it dual boot...

Oddball question

Is there a windows phone 7 from for the DHD/Inspire? Just curious to see. My initial guess is probably not. I know the windows 7 phones can run android so that's why I ask.
Posted using my HTC Inspire, y'all.
Not really that oddball a question, it gets asked many, many times. And the answer is always no.
you could download a windows 7 launcher from the market, there are a few good ones available
Theres a miui windows rom..its pretty good as well...its mainly visual..there are similaritys, look in the rom list its in there,

windows 7 is a close project not like the opennes if android plus 7 dont use external storages like sd cards and its very hard if not impossible
Thread Closed.
As said previously, if you want WP7, you need to buy WP7. Until then your only going to get look-a-likes.
