This takes longer an is less effective in the fact ota's can be corrupted

Yeah but then he will get the modem too.

And he'd have a legit claim if as it would be a brick due to their ota.

Ok just got prompted for this. I'm rooted, is it safe to update and reroot? Anyone know what changed? Thanks

Just flash a ROM that's based off the current ota. Or if you want to go the stock route there is a rooted pc36img.zip floating around development that will upgrade your radios, hboot, kernel and ROM.

Oh boy!...
Just flash one of the custom ROMs that already have this update implemented. There is no need to unroot and regain root privileges.
I don't want a custom Rom. If I can upgrade and reroot that is what ill do. Just asking is it safe.

That's correct. It's the easiest way to update everything to the latest ota without losing root.

Do you have a link. I actually tried to go through with the update via OTA and it failed during install.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
If failed because you still have a custom recovery on your phone. You can only install an actual OTA if you have a stock recovery. Sorry, no link. On the xda app right now. If you still need it when I get home later I'll post it for you.

Yes please thanks. Unsure of the fixes in this update.

I rooted with Unrevoked and running the stock rom is ok to run ota update?
Why do you guys want to apply an ota after going through root? There are completely stock roms from the latest update so it'll be just like an ota except keeping root. Steelh rom I believe is one of them

No, it will not work for the same reasons that I described earlier.
Here is the link to the thread that has the rooted stock pc36img.zip. Download the file, rename it to pc36img, put it on the root of your sd card, boot into hboot and run the update once it's done loading. More detailed instructions are in the first post of that thread. You will lose all your data so make sure to back it up with Titanium or MyBackup so you can load everything back on after the update.

Doing it the way I described will ensure they are fully up to date, including radios, pri and hboot. Simply flashing a ROM won't update those. I think doing it this way will be easier for the inexperienced, with much less potential for screwing something up.
I dont know if I really wanna flash my radio though, I heard flashing a radio can really jack up your 4G.
Hey guys I wanted to know I got and rooted my fascinate yesterday and supposedly 2.2 is suppose to come out should I update the modem for this today or wait till tomorrow
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
Why not wait?
Sent from my DJ05
I might wait. There's an update scheduled for today. I would unroot and install clockwork manager at the least though in case you don't like that rom and would like to flash dj05 or so.
K thanks only thing stopping me is this supposed rumor and figuring out where the dJ05 file is

Will the EC05 update be pushed to my device if i have stock EB13 on my phone already?
I would hope so as EB13 was pushed to some devices OTA itself. Would really be a **** move by Sprint to not update those people.
They will be pushing the update for DI18 and EB13. The press release said that this will happen.

alright I just wasn't sure because I flashed my phone to EB13 from the Samsung site a while back
I fully bricked my vibrant by using 2.3 bootloaders and flashing back to stock 2.1 without flashing eclair/froyo bootloaders first (duh) to update through kies to 2.2. It would not power on at all. I sent it to mobiletechvideos.com in Texas and within a week my vibrant was jtagged and now the wife is using it with no issues at all. The service was only $50.00 and well worth the cost and wait as the vibrant is good as new to flash, flash away! Thanks Josh!
You could've done it by yourself

let me understand:
you flashed 2.1 by clockwork mod? because my last time i flashed 2.1 through odin, without changing the bootloader first.
I flashed through odin to 2.1 then I was using kies to update to 2.2 but I should have flashed 2.2 bootloaders before using kies. I should have fully explained myself...sorry.

I didn't see a thread for this yet so thanks to Whosdaman for getting us the FC09 full tar, I pulled out the modem for easy odin installation:

Hey guys...just to be sure..FC09 is the latest "official" sprint released modem. It isnt a leaked version like FB15 or whatever....right?
