ICS touch points? - Kindle Fire General

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR4UuN2EdRg&feature=g-all-s&context=G223b648FAAAAAAAADAA
I saw brad linder playing fruit ninja.
How many fingers can ICS support?

Short answer: unknown. (sorry)
I was recently reading the following thread where people are complaining about he current 2 touch limit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22051652&highlight=digitizers#post22051652 (also post 1383)
It seems like there MIGHT be the possibility of increasing that if the right drivers are found.

Programs you use

Hey everyone - now that many people are getting the HD (through the post, shop, stealing, whatever) I was wondering what programs that people are using.
If possible, please also state what the app does. eg;
Coreplayer - multiple-format video player.
Also, please post in Beards' topic with version numbers, screen resolutions, etc!

Yes there are. And if you take a little look around the forum you'll even find a thread dedicated to exactly that...
I looked through 3 pages fof topics... Though it's nice to see you post in all duplicated topics...

That tells us what programs work, not what the programs do and why people use them.
Different topics IMO. I'm interested in this thread.
Thank you for correcting my error constructivly, Beards. I don't venture out of BLACKSTONE or ELF, really. Will do, now.

The opening question clearly states:- "Ones that work well with the HD, that is."
What we don't want to end up having is two topics with members posting what works in this topic but not in the other ~ which after all is what the other topic is all about.

Your topic, as useful as it is for the elite, is also a big tease.
For example, I don't know what gsen is but I imagine i might want it! I guess I'll have to google.

Jon,
All you need do is go to the topic and ask......
Yes, the topic does list software titles working/not working but there's nothing wrong is posting anything specific about a specified program.
In fact I personally would recommend it.... The more information available is so much better.

This all stems from the fact software is a total mess on windows mobile - even looking at the biggest sites like clickgamer and handandgo none of them have support for the HD yet. As soon as microsoft bring out their software store the better - that's one thing apple got very very right with the iphone.

Couldn't agree more Jonathan.
At the moment it's a total minefield in ascertaining what does and does not work.

There, edited the first post. People can post in both topics. I think it would be interesting to see how many people, for example, used LunarTilt or that iPhone GUI - Beards, with your topic, if someone sees Coreplayer 2.5, they may not bother to list any other interesting apps they use.
Thanks for the link Acelister.
If I find anything of interst applicable for this topic I'll pass it back on to you.

one major problem and handicap windows mobile will have over the iphone.
The mobile osx is only one device (iphone), so it is a lot easier for developers to create and optimise software for the device, as for wm the developers have to think about the many different devices, thus full optimisation isnt really possible, that is why not all programs will run on all devices.
cor blimey - didn't mean to start anything off here, sorry!
The thread of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442663 is fantastic, and very much appreciated.
If I ever catch up with you guys who have been playing with WM for years, and come across an unlisted app that works, please be assured that I will add to it
However - as a noob, short of Googling each and every one of them to find out what they do (ok, some are pretty obvious!), I have no idea which fall into the categories of "kinda vital" through to "dead useful if you want to do something dead specific".
What I was really hoping for in this thread (and I guess supersquash in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446128 and Philo25 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445543) was a sort of 'starter for 10'.
Looks like between the various posts we're getting there though, so MANY thanks to everyone
Well I've never really gone out of my way to install anything on my Touch Elf, so this was pretty new to me too. I've been getting the hang of it though.
I've installed:
Advanced Config (changes various hidden options),
Capsure (screen capture utility),
Coreplayer (video player),
Klaxon (alarm),
Total commander (better than File Manager),
SPB Mobile Shell (makes the Today screen look completely different),
iFonz (makes the Today screen look like the iPhone).
Those are all easily found using Google.
Nice one Sir - good to see there's a few of us in the same boat!
sounds like a good starter list - now I just need to start Googling where to get these from...
LOL - wife's gonna love me for the next few weeks...
I'd best start earning some brownie points fast before the HD actually arrives

I hear that... "You've not stopped playing with that since you got it!"
I'm supposed to be spending time right now trying to get hold of a Nokia 7510 (yes, I know, but she likes it!) - and instead I'm on here downloading stuff for a handset that hasn't even arrived yet LOL

To all frequent Questioneers - Please Read First!!

I have noticed in a couple of threads that there seems to be a large amount of, shall i say, lazy people.
Neglecting to use the search function, disrespecting others who are fed up answering the same questions again and again.
It seems they can't (or are simply to lazy to) read, use the search button or even common sense
Well i recall a small little flash movie i saw once upon a time on the steam forums. After a little searching with my mate GOOGLE i found it again.
No Reason for lazy people now No Reading involved, just sit back and watch this little "movie"
Ok, ok before anyone starts flaming me with crap like (but thats about the steam forums blabla) The Information affects every forum as everyone of them also has a search function
It's a bit to big to post here, but i guess even the newest noob knows how to use a link

Hopefully we can keep the Threads a little bit less bloated now ?!?
hmm 105 views and not a single reply (good or bad)

Good hearty belly laugh!
A bit before my time but, all that film needed was an old lady
at an organ and an usher with a flashlight. Maybe even an
couple of old men yelling from the balcony!
No really, it was great.
Keep up the good work!
Wonderful & Entertaining!
This is a very useful and entertaining film - it would be great if you could make it required watching with every new registration.
I believe the REAL issue is that people don't know how to best perform searches by utilizing keywords. Say I'm having an issue with my z plantronics bluetooth headset on my HTC HD2 Leo phone - providing all the relevant search terms, model numbers, etc an including "xda dev" (or other forums) can put you where you need to be better than "plantronics headset". And using googles image link can help you determine your model - a picture is worth a million web pages. My, hopefully relevant, contribution.

[Q] Touchscreen Bug

As the video says I came across this bug while trying to play some racing games on N64oid and PSX4droid, but I would keep slowing to a stop and didn't really understand why.
So I installed some multi-touch test apps to see what was going on. The bug is kind of hard to explain, thats why I made a video, but the touchscreen becomes unresponsive for a second and then confused the next.
Anyway here is the video:
youtube.com/watch?v=eQblG7OxABk
So is this a bug anyone else has come across? Does it have anything to do with the Atrix only having a maximum of 2 touch points?
This is very frustrating when playing certain games in emulators. Is there anyway to fix this?
Having similar problems today as I was playing GunBros. Pretty annoying.
Sent from my Atrix via XDA App
I haven't played any games where I hold hold down multi touch. I wonder if a lot of people are having this issue.
edit.
I just ran the first and last one you did and yea I had the same issues. Have you posted on the motorola support forums about it? https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/motoblur-android/atrix4g?view=overview
If you don't want to sign up for that forum I'd gladly link this over there and post up the issue for you.
No I did not post this over at Motorola. If you wouldn't mind doing that, that would be great. Also once you do can you make sure to post a link to the thread here, so we can follow it?
I hope Motorola fixes this soon. If not then hopefully the experts over here at XDA finds some sort of fix.
I did not post this over at Motorola because I have had bad experiences with phone developer companies before and with my experience they don't really care. I hope Motorola is different and proves me wrong.
This is a big issue since this device is made to be a gaming device. A lot of games like gun bros have this kind of gameplay layout and this makes it very frustrating to play.
The limited multi-touch is also an issue for many games, but that is another topic.

Looks like some one already has posted it on the motorola support site. Here is a link to it
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/47362?tstart=0
the original post has a link to this one along with a link to your youtube clip.
i have this problem too. i thought it was just the game. its happened in gun bros and dd
hopefully its just a software issue
Yep have this bug in every multi-touch game. Some games (jetcar stunts) can make you start over while others I just wait a second and it's good.
It doesn't last that long with me though, probably because I don't continue tapping. I stop all touches for a second and then its usually good to go.
By far should be a priority for Motorola or someone to fix though.
Already a thread here about this issue.

[Q] should i pass on the latest (8.4.4.11) update?

.. and hang on for 3.2?
what's in it for me?
i have the b60 tab and dock with no battery drain issues; my youtube already plays @ 30fps fullscreen; wifi connection is solid; i'm happy with the responsiveness of the tab generally and i'm not getting an excessive number of reboots or FCs.
some people are reporting problems after installing the update that they didn't previously have. why take the chance?

Not even that. I think there needs to be a karma system implemented, based on the amount of quality of your post in a specific thread will grant you the ability to make threads with the exception of the Q&A forum.
I just think it's kind of silly people make their own threads when there are 10 other threads talking about 8.4.4.11. Couldn't you just post that in a existing thread instead of feeling special and making a thread of your own? :|

what's wrong with the topic? for those not having problems with .5, the possibility that this may be an unnecessary or counter-productive update ought to be discussed on its merits. if you have a relevant opinion on this then state it. don't slag me for asking the question.

possibly, but then arguably it's a unique perspective deserving its own thread. in any case, a/ there was no .11 thread on the front page when i started this one, just ones complaining about various (possibly related to the update) problems, and b/ there's plenty of bandwidth here anyway. so chill out.

I'd have to agree with the others. I mean, all you had to do was look at the second page and you would have found a OTA post with plenty of opinions. It's 42 pages. I know it may be a pain to read it all, but I think the point is that people need to help themselves a bit more and actually look. If you're not willing to look, why should someone put in their valuable time to reiterate the same thing? You look at the points, good and bad, and make a decision for yourself. However, from what I see from your original post, it already seems like you have your answer.
The 'plenty of bandwidth' issue is irrelevant. What's more important is that every time someone posts an similar issue (that probably already has answers or opinions) or an "should i do this?", the more relevant topics get pushed down even further. Most people don't want to wade past 2 pages to find relevant content. I know I don't.
Anyway, I apologize for bumping this thread any further.
My opinion on the matter is that the update did improve speed and reliability for me so thumbs up for the update. Now on to 3.2 please!

This update actually fixes alot of small niggling problems, including the speed at which it comes back to life when pressing the unlock button on the dock.
I was pretty happy before, very happy now.. And with 3.2 just around the corner, life is good...
I don't personally see any reason why anybody would ever "hold back" from a software update unless there was widespread knowledge of huge issues, which you probably wouldn't need to ask about, you'd already know. In fact, you're probably going to have to install it to get to 3.2 anyway. It's not like it takes more than ~5 minutes, are people that lazy?
I did the update and my transformer went to crap freezing up all the time screen going unresponisive. I was mad.......factory reset and life is good again I recommend the update if you do have problems reset the tablet

Thank You

Hello Everyone,
I recently welcomed myself into the world of Tables with a purchase of a Nook HD. I usually research everything so in depth before purchasing that I drive myself MAD in the process. I purchased this Nook Hd on Christmas eve afternoon for the wife, now before everyone or the women reading, says "typical man" waits until the last minute, know that this was in addition to several other gifts that where purchased several days prior to Christmas, I just felt she didn't have enough. Anyway! I was rather upset to find that the Nook was "incapable" (for lack of a better word) of performing what I would like to call "normal" functions. So I figured I would bring myself into the world of Rooting.
To make myself clear I am a complete NOOB / Beginner. Lets just say I know what it is I never tried to root anything. I've always been happy with stock versions of my original Galaxy phone, and now (SORRY) Iphone. Work makes me have that. So I researched and researched as I'm not a Moron when it comes to computers and such as I do have an Engineering degree only it is in Mechanical Things! HA! In my research I watched a million you tube videos read a million Posts on a million different Webpages and I came to find several very informative people and loads of information. I do believe that I’m one dangerous Hacker now. Well…. Maybe I should read a little more!
To make my story Short, I've never rooted anything, well anything electronic, I didn't have a clue what any of this terminology was until I came across this Website and these Forums.
THANK YOU leapinlar for the post and whoever else was involved in making those files!!!
I read and read and read and guess what I have a Nook HD. v 2.0.5 running the universal root CWM with google play and working fabousley!!!!
Thank you! Thank you! Now this "stupid' (for lack of a better word) original tablet has functionality!!!
