Hi, i want to know if its possible to turn an xperia x8 (e15a) to a e15i?
i've switched from telephone company A to telephone company B, and now i'm not able to use the 3g network on company B because they use 900 Mhz band (Band VIII).
If i take an e15i firmware and flash it into my e15a, will i be able to use the 900 Mhz 3g band?
•E15a have UMTS/HSPA 850/1900/2100
•E15i have UMTS/HSPA 900/2100

Hey... I had a lot of issues while doing this, because some firmwares were stated as 2.1 and were actually 1.6 and such.
But yeah, my cellphone was e15a with baseband 006 (from Vivo Brasil carrier).
Now my cellphone is e15i with baseband 015.
First of all, do a full backup. I had to wipe ALL of my personal data.
You can search on the forum and see that a lot of people made that.
Well... the firmware I flashed worked for me, 3g works well (better than before), but it only works for the Vivo Brasil carrier. The phone was formely unlocked and I could use any carrier, but it keeps asking for a SIM unlock code for the other carriers.
There is a possibility that you won't be able to use your own carrier after flashing the new firmware. But, don't worry. Keep the original at hand.
If possible, save your own firmware before flashing the new one.
e15i to e15a
My cellphone is an e15i with baseband 015 and gingerdx, i want to use e15a baseband and keep gingerdx, i'm in Colombia and my carrier is tigo
i've installed some firmwares and some basebands, but is still in edge, how could i know which baseband is the phone using?

Telstra user here on 850Mhz NextG and AT&T Atrix (CM7 weekly).
Just testing the new N_01.77.36P radio as nobody else has reported the results on Telstra. Appears to be working great. No issues, been making calls and browsing HSDPA+, and data speeds are noticeably better in previous deadzones/bad reception areas.
Only been testing for a few hours, will add more if found
Report about battery life plz
seems unaffected
edit: aren't you in Pakistan? ROTFL I'm testing in Australia on carrier Telstra
Any new observations with Radio N_01.77.36P ?
Hello,
I am thinking about installing the "Radio N_01.77.36P" soon. Did you notice any difference such as battery and / or reception since your last post?
Do you remember how you installed it? Any info would be appreciated.

If I understand correctly - the Bravo has access to 850/1900MHz for UMTS but Tmobile uses 1700/2100MHz. Does that mean no 3g on T-Mobile for the Bravo?
If you use the defy baseband tool, the settings for T-Mobile are 850/1700/2100 so 3g shouldn't be an issue. I've always had success with the 1st choice (3.4.2-107-4) with at&t. Assuming you're American, one of the three us T-Mobile settings should work. If not you could try copying the baseband from the defy T-Mobile port. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230251 The rom rip is advanced and not recommended if you don't know how to fix a "mess up". I'll post a tutorial if defy baseband doesn't work for you.

It does not work with T-Mobile's 3G, Bravo frequencies are 850/1900 mhz while T-mobile uses 900/1700/2100 mhz.
Bravo hardware allows only these frequencies.
Baseband switcher cant manage that!
Didn't know that. Never looked up the frequencies. I've only had 2 connection problems, and baseband fixed it. Except for the latest two cm9 nightlies. Haven't tried to fix since it's on multiboot and cm7.2 works great. Saw the thread in Dev and will post back here if I find something since I haven't reached 10 posts yet.
I am in the USA using the T-Mobile network.
I tried the defy basebands on my quarx/cm7 bravo. Out of all of the basebands I tried the radio would not establish a connection. No 1G, 2G nor 3G connections were possible with these defy T-Mobile basebands.
Luckily I backed up the /system/etc/motorola directory and restored over the changes that the defy baseband changer loaded. I have 2G back in action after the restore.
What are the CM7.1 Baseband settings for India?
I get no cell-reception on the Delhi-Metro with CM7.1. With stock 2.2 I could make & receive calls when on the metro.
There is Singapore, India etc base band available,I use the same and have no problems in reception. technically you can use any 900/1800 band, but if you are planning to use 2g only, then keep the base band to India.

What is the default baseband for CM7.1 stable in India? I messed up with the settings using Defy baseband switcher...please help.......i need to switch back to the default setting!
As such for cm7 the default is central Europe one(under emea 3Rd one along with united kingdom), you need to change it for India for better reception. You can do it by selecting apac and the last one where India is there.
Sent from my MB526 using XDA App
The last option in APAC has Hong Kong, Taiwan Optus SEA in it....it doesn't have India in it.
I'm using CM7.1 Stable by Quarx, my phone has baseband switcher version 4.0....does your phone have an option for India?
Yes I do have.okay you can do one thing, just download the latest base band switcher from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052745 and install.this should give the option for India.
Sent from my MB526 using XDA App
I did that & found the option for India.
Once again, thanks a ton for the help premaca!
You can also select International. It works good on Indian phones.
chose any option which has baseband with 850Mhz and 2100Mhz..i think chinese one has these options..850Mhz for 2G and 2100Mhz for 3G in india..
whatever band you select... just don't forget to check whether the flight mode option functions correctly or not, from both... widget and settings.
just Tapatalking!
I use China ME 723 1.10 it has three bands

My carrier uses 900/1800 baseband. I tickled through all regions and carriers and didn't find 900/1800. The closest option is 900/2100. How to add 900/1800 baseband to baseband selector?

The baseband selector is ported over from the defy. They probably know more about it and they're a more active community: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1444&order=desc.
Current ROM: CM7.2 Euroskank Cherry Picks | Bravo port

Did your Bravo come with the 900/1800 baseband? If so, you lost it when you flashed CM7. There is still hope, find someone with a stock rooted Bravo, or a Defy/phone with same radio, that uses your carrier and upload the entire system/etc/motorola and I'll be able to help you out.
I know that the Defy, Defy+, Bravo, & Milestone 2 all have the same radio. Start with those phones then expand to other Motorola Omap 3630 phones.
If you made a nandroid of your stock with that baseband and it worked just fine, restore it and upload that directory.

Frankly, I don't remember which baseband I used with a stock Bravo. I started to worry about that after I had flashed CM7. Before CM7 I had got CM10 and the signal strength was pretty good in the Underground, but when I had flashed CM7 my phone wasn't able to connect to network. So I started to think that there was something wrong with CM7. When I checked baseband I saw that my carrier baseband GSM900/1800 is not in list (btw, CM7 900/2100, is the first number for 2g and is the second for 3g? or are them both for 2g?). And I thought that signal might be lost because of difference in baseband. But than I flashed WR yesterday. I have a strong signal in the Underground now (in baseband selector I checked 900/2100). So the signal strength is not depend on baseband but on ROM.

The baseband shouldn't be dependent on the rom. If you have a working signal in CM7, then the same baseband should give you a working signal in CM9\10\MIUI. I actually use 3 different basebands that I use -- they all work good for me, but in low\no signal areas sometimes changing basebands will increase or give me a signal. It'll be boring, but go to Settings>Advanced>Baseband Selection and try out all of the 900mhz basebands until you find some that work well for you. I use 850mhz basebands so mine won't help, and to all the other 850's -- there's only 3, 4 including ATT stock which isn't in Baseband Selector. And for the other question, both are for 2g, 3g, 4g -- what's being transmitted over what particular frequency all depends on the governments and local standards (and your hardware )

Thanks. Will try different 900mhz someday There may be some tweaks in ROM. For example, for battery saving or signal power increasing, I guess Anyway, It's OK in WhiteRabbit rom now :good:
I was so happy with WhiteRabbit because of strong network signal. A couple weeks later my phone has got weak signal again... I have no idea what has happened. It doesn't depend on rom as skeevy420 said. But I do believe that it's software problem. May it be some power-save profile?
Have just posted a request to add my baseband at Defy forum. Maybe it could help..
