its not necessarily a marketing ploy to get more money, if anyone here has done any research or read about it they would know the x10 HD is the exact same phone as the x10 (hardware n all) it just has 2.1 (which supports hd video recording).
and obviously since the 2.1 update is supposed to come out next week they will be advertising it like crazy since its something people have been waiting for.

Exactly. I don't get what the big deal. It's just a rebranding, just like how the HTC Magic was renamed the Magic+ here in Canada by Rogers when it got its Sense UI.

Guys chill out! This should be considered great news for X10 owners, simply because if SE advertises the same X10 after the upgrade to 2.1 as a new phone. This means it will likely be upgraded to Froyo! Therefore, if it gets 2.2 you will also get 2.2 right ?
So actually this is good news, and it will be a pleasure if this device gets Froyo, because it rocks already! By the way if you don't mind me asking, where exactly did you capture this picture?

I also see it as a marketing strategy is simple you add something different to the existing product and ready .. thousands more sales.

thanks to svetius for giving us a notion ink adam section! http://notionink.wordpress.com/ and this tablet should be on the market very soon!

I am very interested in this tablet. I would like to see how much interest the community here have on this tablet. That would be a make or break factor for me on purchasing this tablet.

I am hopeful that there will be some interest here at xda as well but I am confident the stock adam is gonna be awesome out of the box. Any hacks and mods discovered by the xda community will just be icing on the cake.

There are lot pf people going crazy waiting for release of this Tablet. The last blog post annoucing possible preorder has more than 4500 replies in 48 hours and still climbing .

Please make a separate section for the Adam!

On another topic, if anyone here hasn't seen the Notion Addicts forums you should head over there. Basically a community of people all waiting for this product created by the Notion Ink company. The forum was announced mid November and already has over 1100 active users and 3000 posts. Not bad at all.

i originally pre ordered the 101 then cancelled because i really had no clue when i would get it because the date kept getting changed. i then bought the g tablet and while out of the box it was bad, i had fun hacking on it. in the end i just wasn't satisfied with it either so i returned it. now i am hoping the adam will be the tablet that i am searching for,hopefully it will be the one(for about a year or until something else catches my attention)

I am very excited about this tablet! Wanted one before iPad was announced. They have taken their time getting it out (still not out but soon....) so hopefully it will be worth the wait! They worked very hard on writing good tablet software on top of Android so they can really compete with iPad. I can't wait to see what they came up with!
I support having a group for it for sure!

So while we reported yesterday that the Samsung Galaxy S II won’t be heading to Verizon, the silver lining comes in the fact that the three other major wireless carriers will indeed be getting their own models. So, the big question regarding whether or not Samsung would take the previous path in releasing these new models, in creating different looking devices for each carrier has been the question since the beginning. Thanks to Pocketnow, we can finally say that we (may) know what the handsets will look like.
There isn’t a lot of information going around here. In fact, where the above image came from is anyone’s guess. And because of that, we may want to take the above leak with the normal amount of salt on hand. We’re not sure if these are the final devices for each carrier, but we imagine that it’s certainly possible. So stay tuned, as Samsung’s event is just around the corner and we’ll have all the details we could ever want (hopefully).

Keyboard (a good one, not some PoS without a dedicated number line) is make or break for me. That's why I chose the epic over the other decent phones w/keyboards out there to begin with.

Sprint usually keeps the premium phones around the $199 mark, so I wouldn't expect this to be any different. No price has been announced, but I would expect that price point, but certainly nothing higher than $249.
Me personally, I'm waiting for details on the Nexus Prime to do anything. By then, the Epic will have GB and other goodies to go with it, and the SGS2 will already have ROMs etc associated with it. I have to rely on my phone quite a bit for business, so I'm not too eager to be an early adopter. I want to ensure all the small kinks and quirks with the SGS2 are worked out before I jump on it.

Nice to see confirmation of the design in the previously-shown pic that we assumed was Sprint. Looks like a solid design. I'm going to have a real problem deciding between this and waiting for a Sprint Nexus Prime variant.

When the SGS1 EPIC came out it was $249 and then after the 2011 the price dropped. I hope they start out at $199 cause im just gonna add a 3rd line to my account to buy the SGS2 and give my son a phone! My wife will be taking my EPIC...

Anonymous source in linked article. I don't believe it until I see the system update light up. Sorry. First of many of these sort of "reports" I am sure.

Pocket lint has been pretty good in the past. They also reported about upcoming 3.1 update back in May (the same author):

So while I agree - that until I see notification popup on my device it's too early to celebrate - it's a good sign.

3.1 update and ICS are totally two different worlds. :/

Given the way ASUS has rolled regarding updates I would expect that once Google releases Honeycomb for tablets (remember they didnt even mention the Xoom) we will only be a couple of months behind.

I still won't be updating till Roach has had a chance to optimize ICS for us.

Tablet UI already built in ICS so it should be that hard for ASUS

As some people said before: looking at how frequently ASUS has updated the Transformer and has reacted very good to user input (selectable trackpad scroll direction and mouse pointer look as one example) and given the fact that the Transformer was the best selling Android tablet in 2011, I'm very confident, not to say 99% sure, that ASUS will update his first flagship tablet to ICS and will keep it updated for a year at minimum.
They know they established themselves some good reputation with their update politics and they won't risk to lose that again.

In the Android tablet market you have only three choices. You either lead, follow, or get out of the way. Asus is the front runner. I'm looking forward to ICS on my Transformer.

While the article is titled "Transformer to be first" with ICS, nowhere in the article does it say the Transformer will indeed be the first tablet to get ICS. It seems more like "Asus is the first manufacturer to say its tablet will get ICS" which doesn't really amount to much info.

I saw a couple posts on the phone forums and some posts for the xoom with people already trying to put icys on other devices so i doubt we will be first although i have faith we will be the first official so to speak

I honestly don't care too much for ICS, so when it comes out it comes out. But with their speedy updates, I wouldn't be surprised if we get it before the year ends.

On a more serious note, I think the support for ASUS is much better than Samsung. I traded my SGT 7 + $100 cash for a transformer. SGT 7 was such a heavily marketed flagship device and yet there's no support for ICS. Really ridiculous. Luckily the SGT 7 has great devs but still, lots of work have to be done by them in order for ICS to work on SGT 7.

The day iPad3 hits the shelves I'll say goodbye to my transformer.

Asus (and other manufacturers) will probably eventually learn to not make any promises whatsoever. Then any updates will just be a surprise.
I have a TF101 and I really don't feel Asus is required to provide me with an ICS update. I hope they do, but I can hardly make demands based on random Facebook/Twitter/forum posts.

Words can't describe how much I don't care about ICS on my TF.

Think of this from a marketing angle: If Asus releases ICS simultaneously for TF101 and TF201 they will sell way less TF201s. Of course they stretch it as far as possible.
Ironically I have ICS on my ancient HTC Hero. My LG Optimus 3D isn't getting ICS until Q3 2012. LG doesn't even fix a bug that makes the phone miss a lot of calls and SMSes.
You think Asus customer service sucks? try LG!

ICS for my ancient LG Swift is ready for me to install thanks to the folks that make CM7. I only have to find time to install it. I think I won't wait for ICS on TF101 by Asus too.

I care about ICS because i heard some saying it increases much the responsiveness and general performance for the TF101, and I really want to make my new TF101 better.

Samsung is pretty bad with updates. Asus is doing good. Samsung/att just released gingerbread to the infuse 4g about two weeks ago. It was buggy and made the touch screen unresponsive. I went back to froyo.

But the custom ROM scene seems quite good on Samsung, right? Open bootloader and all... I'm considering jumping ship to Samsung this year, but I'm a little afraid that new versions of Android won't be available for it. Maybe I'll have to wait for Nexus tablet...

Yes. Delays. It's not the end of the world. Jeez.

I didn't complain, but this isn't the first time they've delayed their self-announced updates. The first time... sure delays happen... but again? Screw them. They should hire paul Burton, he got ics working for us. It ain't perfect, but its leaps and bounds better than what Asus gave us by the end of 2011 as they promised.
