hey, my sgs+ can't connect to the pc. it allows batterie loading, but connecting via usb doesn't work. i've tried a reset, reinstalling ROM, the usb modes (kies etc.), i've tried another cable and another pc. what shell i do?
what do you want to connect to? for kies i don't know. never used it. otherwise you got to change your usb settings on your phone
btw: this is a development forum... ask somewhere else... the i9000 guys can help you with this too
May be something wrong with your phone usb port, some contacts not work.
First of all, you should tell if you are using a stock rom, other problem uses to be the windows driver, it does a wrong installation or gets corrupted sometimes.
Try reinstalling the driver, or if you are on a non oficial rom, try another one, or an oficial one, but remember to save your efs folder first in that case.

Hello good people,
I've got a problem with my Wizard that's been bugging me for a while now and no matter what i try, i can't get it fixed........
Recently i flashed my Wizard to WizFlo2d 6.1.1.2, everything good and all, but the rom is too buggy for me and i want too flash something else.
Only problem is, since flashing that rom, i can't flash anything else, because Active Sync doesn't work at all. It will connect, but when syncing i get lots of errors. The pda also reports errors, but i can't even read those because of it's buggyness. There is a hotfix for this problem but that won't install ¬¬ This all also means i can't flash, not in Vista, not in XP, not in bootloader, nowhere. I keep getting the Phone not ready or Phone not connected error over and over again....
I really hope you can help me with this because my pda is as good as bricked right now, the rom is very buggy and doesn't work and i can't get another rom on it....
USB port trouble
The problem is with the USB port you are connecting to, I had the same problem with WM6.1 ROM's while it was fine in WM5. Make sure your phone is connected to a USB port in the back of the computer not the front. If it still doesn't work, try unplugging any unneeded USB items and see if that frees up enough power for it to work right. You could also try using a different PC. My wife's laptop worked fine even when no port on my desktop would work. My final solution was to get a powered USB hub and plug into that and now I connect and can flash every single time with no problem.

Hmm, weird thing is, i'v flashed lots of WM6.x rom's before without any trouble, and i already tried the back usb port. Haven't tried freeing up all the usb ports yet. I will try another pc though, see if that works. Thanks, going to try this now
This keeps getting crazier, i can connect my phone, browse files, download and upload files, but still can't flash...Even with powered usb hubs and other pc's :S:S There's still a tooltip about syncing i can't read....Can anyone help?
i have the same problem.. as works fine but i cannot flash due to a 260-error. Have used all usb-ports and rebootet everything including my fridge but im stuck with this manilla-without-wifi rom
Hello all,
I have a Samsung galaxy S II purchased in Israel from Cellcom.
In my ill advised attempt to unbrand, and thus accelerate, improve memory and battery consumption, I flashed a stock ROM which I believed to be the latest.
The phone works great, with one exception. There seems to be no way to connect it to PC, be it WIN7 32bit or ubuntu 32bit. original usb cable or other cable, my stationary workstation or my laptop, be it USB Storage mode, USB Debugging, that stupid Kies mode, and most importantly because i'd like to flush it back, no Odin Mode. (in win32 - any mode gets "unknown device" status like the device doesn't publish it's name correctly or similar.)
moments before the flash the phone connected in all modes.
I think i've pretty much covered all of the obvious. and there is no problem with my latest sdk and drivers as my Nexus S still connects to both PC's with great success.
SO some info - and what I have already researched.
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928, I gather that the PDA on my Cellcome bought SGS2 is either JIKG3 or JIKJ1. and that it's a GT19100T and I gather that denotes some kind of hardware specification.
the ROM I've flushed to my phone has this name:
GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKJ3_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI3.tar.md5
everything seems wrong about this ROM in hindsight but, the worst is that it has no T, and probably isn't very hardware compatible. (though the telephony, wifi, camera, sensors and anything I tried works).
The phone is not rooted as after flushing I have lost any USB connectivity. I therefore cannot try and manipulate system files, to try to recover that way.
I have tried to root with the exploit apk. to no effect. I gather it's a statistically challenged way of rooting so I'll try my luck a lot more during the wait for your answer, and report any success.

the "Easy Rooting Toolkit" on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319653
I'll try to run it as best I can, with the shell emulator, instead of on adb, but with debugging enabled.. although it's not a very East Toolkit, when I use it this way..
I'll still report any progress..

I have seen no one on the internet with this problem. it's really a very stupid problem to have. but a problem nevertheless.
Any insight as to the moves I can try next will be greatly appreciated.
Any information I can add with my limited usb connectivity will be gladly shared. (my "Kies air" works so I can upload to storage that way.. plus i have a shell emulator installed..)

Alex.

just the single one.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ROM itself as I have been using it on my phone for a couple weeks now.
The problem exists between your phone and your PC, the PC is stating that it's an unknown device after all.
What I would try is to un-install the device in Device Manager, unplug the device and restart the PC and then plug the phone in again, if that does not work, I would throw in a factory reset of the device itself while repeating the above steps

What do you mean by that? The nexus drivers have nothing to do with the galaxy drivers. Only if you run an AOSP rom you will need those drivers. Not if you run a stock rom.
Am I right that your pc sees the phone, but does not recognize it? Did you try reinstalling kies? And then from within kies tried to reinstall the phone drivers?
your PC may not recognize the device after the radio or kernel is changed. what I did was uninstall every single usb device from device manager and reboot, fixed.

jamesyb0i - I saw that some people have been successful after uninstalling all usb devices, I'm challenged in this task as my keyboard and mouse are USB. I will try it on my laptop as soon as I'll get access to it, though because of the wide range of computer and OS I've tried I'm pretty sure the effort will be ultimately futile.

Lennyz1988 - I see your point about the ADB Driver for the Nexus S, but as for the other advice.
As I said, I extensively tried to run it on multiple PC's multiple OS's.
I did try to uninstall / reinstall kies, and kies drivers.
after that didn't help. I got an SGS2 from a friend, just to try it on my computer.
it worked just fine.

The problem I believe is specifically because of the GTI9100/GTI19100T differences
I'm sure as achillies400 said that there is nothing wrong with the ROM itself. BUT the problem is not with my PC's it is more likely the different hardware, and the hardware driver on the phone itself that makes my phone become an "unknown device".

Alex.
You could try this exploit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296916
Don't know if it will work for you but it's worth a try.
Extract the .zip to /data/local/ on your phone and run the commands.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the same problem, and I couldn't find anyone else w/ it or with answers either.
almost all the same scenario except I have an SGSII AT&T I777 that started out as UCKJ1 and is now UCKH7
My phone started coming up as unknown device. I can not find any remedy to the solution.
Here's my scenario: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372171
My guess is I might try to uninstall "new" programs that I added to the phone and PC, uninstall kies etc. and drivers, and maybe try and do a restore or refresh or something on my phone and see if I can get to "scratch" and re-start from there.
I installed winamp on phone and reinstalled it on PC for wifi, and it kept mounting/unmounting my SD card from phone to computer each time I plugged it in (I think that messed with my card possibly giving it "unknown")
Or also when I changed my Kernel may have made the phone unknown. Those are the only 2 changes I can assume did this to my phone =/
any update on your phone?
UPD: My kernel was causing all my problems. Restored to an earlier backup and it had older kernel. All problems were relieved.
Im in England and the phone for S5 for America, how do you find the USB "connection as camera" its not in the notification panel ? im trying to get on Kies, but i cant.

Do you have the usb drivers installed correctly? Or try another usb port/ cable.
IVE put the USB driver in the c drive along sid the KIES and still it says its (USB) not recognised. Is there something else i could use instead ,i didnt like kies anyway.I tried to get airdroid to work (ive had that for 3 years) but it doesnt handle software (my phone) 4.4.2 it only does 4.3. It says FORBIDEN.FAILED TO SEND MESSAGE on my PC.
Most likely you are using an outdated version of Kies. There are multiple versions of Kies, ensure that you install the latest version of Kies. Then open Kies and have it detect your phone. That is by far the easiest way to install the proper driver for your S5 model. After the driver is in place you can close Kies and never use it again. Or uninstall it if you wish.
Do not use an USB hub, connect directly to your phone. If you have ongoing issues, use a different USB cable and port. Ensure that you are using a data cable, not a charging (only) cable that has the data lines shorted. If your PC has USB driver issues in general, then you'll need to resolve those issues first or use a different PC.

1) Should i plug it in the mains or usb on the pc
2) Im using the cable that came with the S5 is that good enough.
3) The S5 sits on a cradle shall i take it of.
4) How do i tell data cable, not a charging (only) cable that has the data lines shorted
5) Ive tried 4 different USB software and it gives the message DEVICE DRIVER SOFTWARE WAS NOT SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED every time
6) Ive done a reboot every time the drivers are put it

If you use Windows 8(.1) you have to disable driver signature verification to get the usb drivers installed. Here is a tut. https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorial...abling-signed-driver-enforcement-on-windows-8.

You are juggling too many unnecessary variables. Try to simply that and don't skip checking any of the points.
I have no idea what you mean by plug it in the mains? And at least until you solve this you should not be using a cradle, hub or anything else. As I suggested earlier, connect the phone directly to your computer USB hub. And if you have ongoing problems, try a different cable, USB port or even PC.
Making an assumption that the cable that came with the phone is good enough is counter productive. It's not impossible that it may be damaged or have some problem. Borrow or buy another cable, to eliminate one more possible cause of your issue.
Retrace and double check each step. As soon as you make an assumption that it's not worth checking x step because it couldn't possibly be the cause, you are skipping a possible solution. Make sure that you are using the latest Odin, make sure that you installed it from windows administrator mode, connect directly to the PC's USB port, different cable, etc. If you are methodical, you'll resolve the problem.
Good luck
.
Have you activated developer oprions and usb debug?

If you haven't given AirDroid permissions to send SMS directly, "FORBIDEN.FAILED TO SEND MESSAGE" might appear. Change the permissions in phone's settings for a try

Thank you for all of your help fffft and the rest it was essential for me THANK YOU.
Yesterday,a strange thing happened.I was flashing stock rom to my s4 and the usb suddenly dies and as a result,i cant get into recovery now. After that,i tried some other usbs, also usb ports and nothing seems to work! The only thing i can do is to put it in download mode.i also tried to uninstall and reinstal drivers but still no luck.
I've read somewhere that s4 needs its oem cable to get this work.I do not know if there is something similar posted here but i rly need help cause i need my phone for my job!
Did you try installing kies? I believe Kies includes the drivers. If Kies doesn't work, try Samsung's smart switch.

You have to rule out it's cable related. Try different cables.
Your pc should see something connected to it even if it's a driver problem. It's also possible your usb port is just broke and you need to replace it.
Thank you both for the replies but i found out the solution.i just removed the battery while s4 was connected and being in dowload mode!it worked like a charm
hello
i have a problem with my g928f
my issue is that it can not be regognized by the windows
i have tried at my desktop with win 10 and at my laptop with windows 7 and at both says unknown device,
i have tried everything i know of
unistall everything from the pc regarding samsung drivers
install it again , nothing
install smart switch , nothing
install kies, nothing
run odin , not even see the phone at download mode
made factory reset from recovery , nothing
charge is working just fine both from pc and my wall charger
i tried mhl hdmi and nothing happened
tried just now otg cable with a usb drive , again nothing
just a week ago i was using it just fine with my pc
should i take it to a store to check my micro usb port??
noone??
today i replaced the screen with a new one witch had a new usb dock on it and the problem is still here
i can not connect it to any pc.
i cann't flash the stock rom because odin is not see it also
is it possible to be a rom problem????
i can't flash the stock one because of the usb issue
but i think i can download another lollipop rom to give it a try.
Have you made sure that it is set as MTP?
Setting - Storage - USB.
Check if the device gets connected in Fastboot mode. If it doesn't then it would be your USB.
sideload is not working either
usb is brand new and original.
is there a way to flash stock rom via recovery?
