For those who made new Box account last month using edited build.prop to gain 50GB upgrade is anyone else having problem logging on? Seems like it started today and no way am I able to logon via Box (v1.5.1.2) from MT4G even when logon credentials are valid and works via web browser from device and PC but not the app itself.
I clear the cache, didn't work. I uninstalled app and reinstalled, didn't work. I am guessing they are flagging the accounts same way they granted the upgrade as by reading device and manufacture string. Post here if anyone else is having issue or is it just me, which is very unlikely.

Well I still don't see any reason for me to not able to logon as data connection is enabled and active while password is valid. Only thing I can think of other than that is if it was disabled by Box admins
Storage: 19.7MB of 50.0GB (6 files)
Bandwidth: 22.7MB of 10.0GB (72 downloads)
Now I am not using their service excessively as you can see from stats above. Nor am I sharing any files that would violate their TOS as nothing is media related that would be any ways remotely considered copyright infringement. Matter of fact its all for XDA folks which is under GPL. I am sure I am flagged ATM by them as it won't allow me to logon via device even from another account and another device. Maybe they cross linked it and blacklisted the device IMEI when device manufacture/device didn't match. Thus flagging the account from logging in but who knows. All I know is I have no access which is kind of shaddy if you ask me.

Hmmm still no access via mobile app Box (v1.5.1.2) but before I couldn't even logon. So I synced with local /data/data/com.box.android/ and linked /SDCard/Box/ to it and its able to get passed All Files/Update but it won't update due to auth issue. As it shows offline status with valid connection, POS Box why disable me.

oh well use something else, good luck unsuscribed.
I got a 50MB account by editing the build.prop as well and I was able to log in without problems. You might want to contact Box.com, they might be able to help you out as to why you're having problems logging in.
Problem=SOLVED
HKM here, so I contacted Box support and they didn't even respond to the ticket. So I took matters in my own hand and found the issue and even fixed it. So if anyone else having this same issue on XDA then let this be a reference.
Problem: Unable to login Box.
Symptoms: Offline and unable to sync.
Cause: Entries in hosts file.
Effect: Rx/Tx queries blocked.
Diagnosis: Finding manually and physically removing the entries.
Keep in mind this will save you alot of time if you do this on PC. But it can also be done from the device physically.
1) Go locate the file by following its absolute path below.
PATH: /data/data/hosts
SYM1: /system/etc/hosts
SYM2: /etc/hosts
2) You can adb pull the file to PC and view it in text editor or from File Manager in the device open it with its text viewer/editor.
3) In text editor search for entries listed below.
.box.
box.net
box.com
4) The intruding entries would look something like below.
127.0.0.1 box.net
5) Once you find it then just simply remove the line and search again for multiple entries if present.
6) When its all done just save the file by replacing it and restart the device to take effect.

A friend of mine sent me an MMS message with a picture as an attachment. I have RC33, so I go to the message and press the "Download" button to the right of the message. After, this, the button is replaced with the text "downloading", but nothing else happens. In addition, the media does not show up in the SaveMMS application. The message is only 74K, so there isn't any reason why it shouldn't download fairly quickly. Any suggestions?
Works for me....using the scroll ball...scroll to the message press the ball in for 2 seconds and a menu opens. Option to save to sd card is there.
When I press with the scroll button or do a long press, I am given the options "Call +(number here)", "View message details", and "Delete message".
Edit: Thought I would mention this - in the "Messaging" view (where all your text message threads are listed), there is a white/orange triangle with an ! inside it to the right of the thread that contains the message in question. I'm not sure what this means, but I thought that it might be helpful in solving the problem I am having.
open and click th whole message and u should receive option to save attachment.
To clear any confusion, here are images of what is going on:

Dude it really doesn't look like you have a picture in there. I already check this twice and if I got a message I pressed and hold a message(not a pic) and menu poped up with option to save attachement to sd. With press and hold a message w/o pic shows menu like you showedon screenshot
Here is mine...i sent a pic to myself works like it's suppose too.
Your phone knows it's been sent an image but it hasn't downloaded it yet. This has happened a few times on mine. Just click the "download" button and it should show up in the message, then you can save it.

This makes sense, but so far I'm stuck at the "downloading" part. It says that the message size is 74Kb - does it download MMS messages over wifi (which I am connected to) or T-Mobile's signal? I don't have a data plan with my phone, so perhaps the seemingly un-ending download time is due to the speed of T-Mobile's signal? I will try to download it again and see if it works.
This is based solely on a guess, but I have experienced a situation where MMS would not be downloaded if A) I was syncing with PC at the time or B) I was connected to WiFi.
This was NOT on the G1 but on one of my WinMo smart phones.
MMS is downloaded via TMo's mobile internet, but you normally not paying data charges, just messaging charges so it shouldn't be affected by the fact you don't have a data plan. You DO need the TMo APN settings tho I think.
This may not be the problem here, but it's possible if you've tried all other options.

Very good point daisy :")
Or perhaps he was playing with some settings messing them up. Just a thought
I think an mms can only be downloaded via the cellular line (wap, gprs, umts i.e.)
Had similar problems with my old o2 xda orbit....first had to make wap config.
Greetings
Carter

I tried disconnecting from the wifi and it didn't work. However, I have never changed the APN settings for my phone. Are there instructions for doing this somewhere? So far voice + sms messages have worked fine, so I didn't realize that the APN settings might be a problem.
You all are correct about the APN settings. I tried sending myself an MMS as a test and it did not send. I read through the APN thread here without luck, but then found instructions here. After following the instructions, I was able to download the MMS message without any problems.
Glad that you solved it xxx

Is there something like that? I looked around here but did not find anything.

Synorate File Locker might be something to look at, you can lock directories as well as individual files.
Is it paid? Where can I get it from? Is there a free app that does the same job?
P.S. I found it. The TRIAL can be downloaded from synorate.com (since I am a new user I cant post a link). My guess would be that we have to pay for the full version, but I am not sure, the website doesnt say anything about it. I will try it and post up w/e I find out.
P.S.2 It could be bought from their website and the price is $14.99
Now im wondering how long does the trial last...
Anyway if some1 finds a free program please post
P.S.3 Its a 30-day trial
lmao. I wonder how many idiots they get that lock their files and then realize that their trial ran out so they have to buy the full version. Ingenious. lol
Lol thats funny lol , aanyway, does any1 know about a free program like that? If not is it hard to make one?

I use a directory on my PC with hundreds of passwords and I want access to it on my mobile without fear of someone getting access if I loose the phone.
So far the only method I have found is a password protected .RAR
This means I can update it on PC or Mobile and just sync it up.
I find all these password programs that store passwords for you a missing this sort of functionality. it would take me hours to add them all to a new program.
Still, we could do with something stronger than a .rar.
Something like pgpDrive would be great.
In recent versions of Kies it asks to backup phone numbers before upgrading and checking for new firmware. At least for the shw-m110s which is the Korean Galaxy S.
Recognise this?

Have you wondered where it backs up to? Have you ever answered "No" when there is an upgrade available?
I got this message while upgrading from DG14 to DI03 in the "Firmware Upgrade" window after unchecking "Back up contacts before upgrading firmware".
"your phone numbers will be saved on the servers for two years"
Sure they won't use them but I find it interesting that they don't inform you before hand where thing get backed up to.
Bah! All my contacts are on my Google accounts, nothing on the phone itself...
The hole concept of "cloud computing" is based on server located data and, you DO have to agree with this to continue. They tell you on page 2 instead of page 1, I don't see the problem here!

Not so much a problem, more of a notice to others who just select to backup.
And actually the additional information about being stored on their servers only appears if you opt out and if there is actually an update available.
If there is no update the only thing you see in the first window. If you check the box, it sends your data and then reports you're on the latest firmware. There is no additional information about where things are being stored on later windows.
It would make more sense for the "Agree to Store Information" notice to be in the first window.

I indeed wasn't aware of it, because i haven't got an update yet. The only screen which is presented to me suggests that is only stored on my pc
Koe, I briefly mentioned this in the Korean Galaxy S forum, but I also didn't realize that they would be storing and saving these in the cloud. Typically I don't care much with Google because of the way they typically require governments to go through at least all the necessary procedures before compliance with requests. I wonder how Samsung would treat a similar situation and if I should let it have any weight in my decision.
IIRC, if there is no update then they actually backup contacts to your computer. I'll have to look back into it. There wasn't an update available but I thought it told me that I had successfully backed up (to my computer?....I shouldn't just blow through so many prompts .)
I'll let you know if I can find out what Kies did/didn't do my machine.
Storing Phone Numbers to Samsung Servers
I did upgrade my firmware and i did Storing Phone Numbers to Samsung Servers and it went wrong with upgrading. How do i get my phonenumbers back from the Samsung Servers?
aye I don't bother backing up contacts as I sync all of my with my exchange account using exchange-activesync
After I realized that my N10 came with Quickoffice HD, I tried to open doc, docx, ppt with it and it just gives me the error that says that the file can't be opened.
I have the paid version of Quickoffice Pro installed so maybe that's why? The paid version can open all the files no problem.

In that case, you might want to submit a ticket into our system from our help site (link in my profile - click on billing questions, we're in the middle of construction right now). You'll need to set up an account with our help desk before we see your ticket (you'll get instructions via email), and it would help if you linked us to a couple of example files, and linked to this discussion as well.

It is not a billing question tho.
The pre-installed version is 5.7.2 HD and I'm getting these screens whenever I try to open files.

No worries - this is a new user account I set up seperate from my personal for Quickoffice support, and it's under the post limit for links (so I can't provide a direct link). We're actually in the middle of revamping our help site to make it easier to submit tickets, but for the time being, it's the easiest way to submit one. All submissions go to the same team, and I'll be on the lookout for yours.
Ok I submitted a ticket with sample files.
Keep in mind that regular purchased version from Amazon works fine. It's just this preinstalled one that doesn't work.
So according to the article.
http://www.androidheadlines.com/201...d-spam-detection-is-built-into-galaxy-s7.html
The Samsung S7 partner up with Whitepages, a caller identification and phone scam detection, on top of all that, you’ll be able to find nearby businesses whilst searching through the dialer.
My phone is Australian, which is one of the 16 countries involved with the S7 and whitepages.
So what gives,
When I make a call, I get "identifying caller info" then the number comes up with no caller id.
I go into the dialler search for a place nearby, it just searches my contacts.
Absolutely nothing works as promised...or am I missing something..
Exynos version - SM-G935F
It works, sort of, but it's very slow. Also, I suspect it needs a data connection, so if you're on Verizon or Sprint and don't have voice+data, it probably won't work unless you're on Wifi. I used True Caller on my last phone, and I'm going to disable White Pages and install True Caller on this one, too.
I'm in Australia and actually use both Truecaller and Samsung version which utlisizes whitepages. I'm assuming you've granted the appropriate permissions for Samsung to access your contacts/dialler etc. They both work hand in hand for me and I usually get a listing for most phone numbers that are listed in either source.

Tmobile and no whitepages. so i tried whitepages app in play store. assuming they are the same? if not then i guess thats why when i get a call whitepages is giving me wrong information. truecaller is a bit more accurate for me

Any other permissions needed ?

I think you also need to grant permissions for >Telephone Permissions
I'm not sure what application is utilizing this service but check whether contacts and glalaxy apps have permissions granted. When I turned mine on I can't remember what permissions it asked for if any. Perhaps even grant permissions for everything in the list and then work out a process of elimination.
Also it only works when actually dialling the call for me. So for example if I dial 131888 and Dial it will perform a search and then display dominos.
