So I'm sitting at home watching a show on CNBC about Steve Jobs and Apple called "Steve Jobs: Billion Dollar Hippie" with my wife. I get an email and grab my ET4G to check it...
My wife asks me "Isn't this a show about Apple?", I said ya why?
She then says... "Then why are they talking about IPhones and Ipads and showing your tablet?"
I guess I gave her that puzzled what look... She went back a few seconds to show me.

Haha. I watched this doco too just the other week and I totally missed it. Was probably too busy playing with my tablet to notice its brother on screen.
You'd think they would be able to notice the big Samsung logo on the back of the tablet. Or all the white backs of the Samsung tablets in the background.

But to the uneducated (which is probably 90% of the population) any tablet type device is automatically thought of as an iPad. I get it at work all the time. "Nice iPad." Me: "It's not an iPad, it's a... oh never mind."
That is the power of branding to the general public. Have to give Apple credit for that. Any MP3 player is automatically considered an iPod. Most smart phones are called iPhones, regardless of what they are. Bugs the crap out of me, but it usually isn't worth my breath to correct them.
Kind of like Xerox, Kleenex, and Q-Tip.

Motorola can suck it. Did we all forget they are trying to keep there phones from being unlocked? Also, cant you unlock the iPhone and get flash that way?
Lastly, most of us unlock our phones so we can get the extra featuers the devs left out or the carriers locked us from. Personaly the iPhone is just as capable if not better and doing some of the stuff our phones do. Not only that but it paved the way for Android. I never owned an I phone my rep on PPCGeeks is far above my posts so I am not a fan boy flagging you blind fools. Just stating the obvious. Ill probably never own an iPhone. Something about apple I just cant get it. They market these devices that all do the same thing. An iPod touch is an iPhone without the phone. Why would you need both and many people do by both. Whatever, not that you guys are idiots but there are just to many idiots spending money on something as dumb as an iProduct. Steve Jobs easily owns the pawns that by his crap.

Even though plenty see the device's back first because I am often holding it upright by it's left landscape edge, I still have to point out the lack of fruity logos and the presence of the Motorola / Google ones. One individual didn't even recognize what the M logo stood for until I showed him the front where it was spelled out for him. I was then reminded of "living under a rock" geico ad but said nothing.
The end of an icon. A couple of guys started piecing together computers in a garage, built the start of a great company, got tossed by the board when things got tough and then welcomed him back as their savior. What a remarkable visionary he was.

I'm not making jokes. I'm actually sad about this and I could only hope to meet a great mind someday whether it matters after death or not. We lost a part of our lifestyle today with Steve's passing. My prayers are with his surviving family, friends and co workers. I can only hope they have the strength, including Apple to carry on.

he passed away the day after the event. my moms friend who is an accountant for apple said they it was right after lunch when they got the word.
I can't seem to avoid people who call this guy an innovator and inventor. I'm looking around at the heaps of computer junk I've accumulated over roughly 25 years and I'm hard pressed to find one thing that he invented. Aside from a GUI, which can be argued was an inevitability, I'm not even feeling the innovation.
Frankly, Apple did a lot to dumb down technology so idiots could use it while also sacrificing a good deal of productivity. (Contrary to popular belief, GUI's and touch interfaces are much less efficient interfaces than command line and hard keyboards.) Perhaps we wouldn't have Android today if it wasn't for iFone, but frankly, I wouldn't have missed either if BlackBerry hadn't totally dropped the ball. If they pick that ball back up with QNX, I'll be shoving off this touch screen only thing with joy.
apple aside, he was an incredible man none the less. His achievements are something to aspire to. Steve you will be missed.

Wow. All I can say is wow. How can people support a company like apple which tries to unfairly beat the competition by banning their products? They need to focus on making their products better instead of sticking with the same design for years and putting lawsuits on other companies.
Samsung won't stop manufacturing for Apple, why? Because it's a large conglomerate. Their manufacturing division is not the same as their consumer electronics division; the Samsung that designs phones purchases from the Samsung that manufactures them. They don't care who they are supplying to, it just has to make money.
With that said, the Samsung that develops phones notoriously mimick Apple hardware in one way or another, thus Apple's constant attention to halting their sales. Just look at how Samsung implemented S-Voice, it's a mere clone of Siri function albeit slower; Google instead goes and one-ups Apple's product rather than matching it. Different philosophies of business.
Did coke sue Pepsi this much in its infancy?
