I read somewhere that the KF has the basic hardware for Bluetooth but Amazon did not add the software to support it. Does anyone have bluetooth working on a rooted KF?
Thanks,

It is not working with any rom. Some think it can eventually be enabled, but I personally doubt it.

Looked around for the last 15 minutes and couldn't find anything on it.
This would be the perfect car interface device that I have been looking for. That being said:
It doesn't support ad-hoc wifi connections so USB tethering will already be used for internet purposes inside the car.
I know there is an app for bluetooth GPS sharing but never heard of anything for USB. Since it does not appear to have bluetooth; how can we share the GPS from our phone to this device?
Any ideas?
I don't think there is such an app, and I think this usage scenario is outside what Amazon intends for this device. You'll probably be able to do it via WiFi when CyanogenMod gets released though.
EDIT: This app shows how difficult it is to do what you said via a Windows laptop, so your scenario us highly unlikely to ever be supported. You'd have to wait for a CyanogenMod port for the Kindle Fire and use TetherGPS.
No Bluetooth
I've read several articles that the Kindle Fire does not have bluetooth on board. But that is what they said about the Nook Color before somebody found it on board but deactivated and then proceeded to activate it.
With GPSD , it should be possible
Tether GPS I have used with my non bluetooth tablets
this can be done but you really need to know what you are doing.
BT is nothing more than a wireless RS-232. (usb for that matter is the same)
if you loop your phone's gps to a bt vtty and then connect the vtty to another device it could work. nontheless you also should need to work on the clint's bt profiles to get what you want.
i have done this some time ago with an windows phone but it was really nasty and painful hack.
I've e-mailed the Amazon Market folks in an attempt to get in touch with the Kindle Fire developers. TetherGPS is already on the Amazon market, and my goal is to make sure that it works with the Kindle Fire out of the gate.
If anyone knows the best way to get in touch with them, please let me know.
Thanks!
Andy

Pretty much buying my girlfriend a tablet. between a nook color, cause I noticed they enabled the bluetooth functionality through software, and I was wondering if the kindle fire had similar bluetooth functionality that was just disabled through software
Unknown if it's possible yet, no one has tried yet, that I know of.

Kindle Fire has the bluetooth chip but it is unknown whether it works via software.
I have recently acquired an Amazon Kindle 3g from a friend. It is a demo unit and stuck on a demo loop. I've tried everything I can think of but my computer doesnt even recognize when I plug it in. There is also no way to access the setting on the kindle, you can just browse the preloaded books. Is there a way to fix this?
I think your on wrong forums

So I was wondering will a usb keyboard work with the kindle fire using an adapter or whatever?

I asked this question directly to Amazon customer support (as of 1/5) and they said the Fire doesn't support any external keyboards.
Not sure if this holds true for rooted KF's though...
The KF does not have the ability to host USB devices including keyboards, GPS, mass storage even rooted.
Some are looking into it, but I think it is doubtful it will happen.
The technology is called USB On The Go or OTG. See the thread below. The board supports it, it is just a matter have someone enabling in the kernel and making it work properly.

I'm trying to transfer a vid file to my kindle from my MK808 android mini PC. Sounds quite simple I know but unfortunately the tried and tested apps that let you WiFi share are on one marketplace but not the other. When I physically connected the kindle to the MK808 via USB the kindle tells me its connected to USB and ready but the MK808 does not see the kindle, at least not in its explorer program. I've searched the net for some time and cannot find any help other than use WiFi sharing with the same app on both devices.
Any suggestions or help getting me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
As a note, the only hardware I have in my possession at this time is a kindle fire HD, MK808, HTC Sensation and a Xbox, if anyone has any suggestions I will don my cap to you for the remainder of time!

There are several cloud services around that may help, for example, dropbox, ubuntu one, google drive, etc. They may be a temporary workaround. If the mk 808 has Bluetooth I'd also agree with Raymond.
I managed to stream the file via ftp. Won't download or upload I'm thinking its a network issue tbh thanks though
Oh the 808 doesn't have bluetooth

Still found no solid solution to this, its really beginning to nark me lol! I've took to transferring the vids to my SDcard and Bluetooth it to the kindle from my Sensation which is agonizingly slow and cant even be left over night as files like to fail for no effing reason!

If your MK808 running JB 4.1.1 stock rom, it is rooted.
so install superSU,busybox and AirDorid from play store. then you are set.
run AirDorid in MK808, kindle open browser connect to MK 808 (i test with my Galaxy S2 I9100).
you should able to download/upload files to/from MK 808.
hope this will help.
I lived with bluetooth tbh mate but now my next venture for the kindle is XBMC
