new bug in lpb .. ringtone issue - Galaxy S II General

on every boot up I get an obnoxiously loud song playing... any idea what that is. The song it is playing is t s_over_the_horizon built in ringtone
the ringtone was becuase i had my backup sim card in and have no minutes left and have a voicemail message.. I think it is a bug in lpb and is trying to play my default message /notification tone and the sd memory is not mounted yet on boot up so it is playing that obnoxious song.
doesnt matter if i put my notification on the sd or the external sd.. will try now copying it to system instead.
doesnt matter if the notification tone i have is in system either..
now trying to move my default ringtone somewhere in system
tried with both my default ringtone and notification tone copied to system.. still plays the damn song immediately loudly on boot if i have a message when booting up.. very annoying..
other issue is screen most times goes black immediately after making or receiving a call and cannot be reactivated either with home buttons or touch screen for 20-30 secs.. not useable like this.. especially if you need to dial some code or turn on speaker. I think this may be due to some bug reading the state of the proximity sensor or something.

No need for a new thread, just post your bug report in the existing LPB thread(s)

Sound / Ring Tone Issue

Hope someone can help....
In Settings -> Sounds and Notifications, I have set the sound for Screen taps to loud and the volume of ringing tone is set to full and on....
After couple of hours, I lost any sound while tapping the screen and can't hear if some one rings me....
It happened yesterday, all worked when I rebooted the mobile.
Today it happened again, but when I rebooted the mobile, the sound came back and now after few hours it is same situation....
I even check the Setting -> Sounds and Notificatons -> Notifications -> Ring type -> Ring
Does anybody know why it is happening..
Ringer problem
I have the same problem too, when I set to ring and vibrate the ringer cuts off. I have now disabled the vibration function but the ringer volume still fluctuates between high and low, or even disappears completely. Any ideas? Apart from this (major) issue, I love the phone...
Just came abouit tis same issue. My ringer seems to fuctuate from low to high and high to low
I've had the complete loss of sound once, reboot helped.
i'm having the same issue!
after going in standby, the phone wakes up but does not ring or play sound anymore (even if you receive a call or a text message).
if you answer to a call, you cannot hear anything in the earpiece and also the microphone doesn't work.
if you soft or hard reset the device, it will work again at the beginning, but the issue will be back in a few minutes.
i verified that if you launch windows media player (or other app that plays audio) when the device has become "silent", will initially result in no sound, then - after few seconds - will make the phone restart (just the phone component, not the xperia) and the sound starts working again.
some times i got also a gwes error, which has made the xperia unresponsive to the touch screen.
btw, i'm very displeased since this device is brand new and was given me by the repair center to replace my xperia (I left it charging battery all night and on the morning was dead...)
I think I'll take it back to the repair center and ask for another replacement...
if you have ms voice command, that could be the cause of your ringer fluctuation.
I had these issues with cooked roms but not the official roms though. recommended using latest official roms with all junks removed.

I frequently don't hear my phone ring or SMS notifications. What can I do?

I just find that the ringer is often not loud enough for me. Maybe it's my ripe old age of 32 that has brought me to this point of degraded ability but if I leave my phone downstairs or vice versa, I usually won't hear it ring. Worse is the one time sound notification, that's rather short in my opinion, for SMS's. Both of these are even worse if I forgot to remove my phone from the protective sleeve.
I searched and only found people having issue with the volume in relation to calls but no mention if I could increase ringer volume above what is currently selectable. Is there any way to increase this volume and/or extend the ring time for the text notifications?
http://www.wirelessinfo.com/content/T-Mobile-G1-Cell-Phone-Review/MakingReceiving-Calls.htm
According to that website, they tested the G1 ringer volume and found it to have the lowest dB of all the phones they tested.
Is it that speaker is underpowered? Is it possible that we may be able to re-encode the ring tones with a higher volume to help compensate?
I don't think it has a low volume... I think it has to do with what you are using because it is just as loud as my Wing when playing music.
What I'm using? As in which ring tone? I've tested several different ones and they all seemed the same to me. Do you have any suggestions?
I have the same problem frequently, it isnt that you dont hear the rings or notifications, they actually dont play at all. I have had this happen with my phone on in front of mewith a great signal, and I call it from another line. It "rings"(but never does), finally ending in a voicemail. When I hang up and check the G1 it shows a missed call and voicemail.
Unfortunately there is no fix, just a reminder that you bought a phone that shouldnt be expected to work until the system is given time to mature. Until then, you either return the phone, sell it, or live with its limitations. (or so I have been told)
No, I have that happen too, but I do frequently have it ring just not loud enough for me to hear it. I know because my girlfriend often has to tell me when it's ringing if I've left it in another part of the house.
I have also noticed that the ring volume isnt great with the standard wring tones. Using mp3 ringtones is better.
Notifications do sometimes seem buggy. I have had no notifactions with messages when i have had the message application open. Not even vibrate.
I have missed calls installed now for notifications and it seems to not happen anymore.
Theres also a program out in the market that allows you to create your own ringtones from full songs. You could just cut a song into a small section and use that for messaging.
Its called ringdroid

The down-side to this feature of the program is, the notification light will stop. If you check your missed calls, texts, so on from the bar on top.
You have to actually open the "programs" manually to keep the notification light working.
Ex. if you get a missed call, instead of pulling down the notification bar to check. Press the call button once.
if you get a text, open the messeging inbox using the messeging button or SMSChomp button.
Try to limit how often you have to pull the notification bar down.
Pulling the notification bar DISABLES ALL notifications of all kind.

Ringtones changing on their own

Hi everyone. A few times now my ringtones have changed on their own. Not only my general ringtone, but some ringtones assigned to contacts. So for example I have a ringtone set to my wifes name, but she called while I was on a bike ride and when the call came in it played the tone that I have set for my cousin. When I go into my wifes contact info, sure enough it had the incorrect ringtone. This same thing happened with the ringtone I had assigned to my parents number, but with a completely random song in my music library.
Can anyone tell me why this might be happening and what I can do to correct it?
I greatly appreciate any help provided.
This happened to me once. There seems to be some bugs in the music player. It must have triggered the "set this as ringtone".
This happens to me too. It sets random tones for the main ringtone. So all of a sudden my phone will be playing a song and that is my ringtone.
My phone does this too... it changes my ringtone song to another random song in my music folder. I noticed it when a not work appropriate song started playing in front of my supervisor.
I think I read somewhere that this happens after unmounting the sd card.

That's correct. What happens is the ring tones/notification/alarm sounds stored in /sdcard/media aren't accessible when you plug in your phone to your PC (Or unmount the internal media partition for some other random reason) so it defaults everything to anything that it can so it still makes a sound when events happen. To avoid this you can move everything in your /sdcard/media folder to the internal phone storage in /system/media and this wont happen anymore. Hope this helps anyone
built in player?
This is not the most relevant reply to this problem, but I strongly advise everyone who uses the stock player to just try powerAMP.
The experience is close to what I like about my dektop Winamp... and your problem will go away as well.
I too have the random ring tone change. Makes sense that its related to the sd mount unmoint (and that stupid noise).
I also find that suddenly programs on my launcher change tobweird icons and don't work.
Another weirdo. Sometimes my phone becomes totally unresponsive mid sentence typing and I have to touch power then re enter my 4 digit code.

lol, so...any solution ahead??
Are you guys using cache cleaners?

The problem stems from some issue with unmounting and mounting the internal and SD memory. Putting my tones on the internal memory does not solve the issue. Since both the internal and SD cards unmount when you plug into the computer, the problem occurs on both. This problem is such a pain in the ass. I move less music to my Atrix as a result because I never want to plug my phone into my computer.
Is there some USB connection setting that might mitigate this?

[Q] Phone wont ring or play notification sounds

I was using a song in my music library as my ringtone but i didnt change the ringtone back to a default when i removed all of my songs for Google's Online Music app. Now, even when I choose another ringtone or notification sound and set the ringer to full volume, nothing plays when i get a notification or a phone call. I tried to update my rom (CM 7.0.0 to CM 7.0.3) and put the same old song back on but neither of those worked. I also attempted to get another ringtone app (Zedge) but that still didnt work. This is causing me serious problems and the only way I can tell if someone calls me is if i have my vibrate on, and that still isnt that helpful. Has anyone had this problem and/or fixed it without a factory reset?

System tones play twice.

I just bought a used Nexus 4 and this is my first Android device so I'm not sure if this is normal.
I flashed it to the newest stock 4.4 ROM today and TWRP.
When the phone plays a system tone (like pressing a menu button, typing on keyboard, etc.) for the first time you hear it twice, but overlapping, like the tone played and then a split second later it played again. If you continue to make sounds it doesn't do that anymore.
If I put the speaker up to my ear I can hear it hissing and then stop.
As soon as I hear the hissing stop it will do the double overlapping tone again if I make another tone.
My guess is every time the system needs to re-initialize the audio it's doing this.
Has anyone else encountered this or know of a fix?
I also noticed that if I have the phone in Silent Mode I can hear a "pop" from the speaker once in awhile when pressing the navigation menu buttons.
I turned off "Touch sounds" and the pop went away.
Anyone else have this problem?
