I want to do this as more of a starting new kind of thing. I know you can clear the sd cards and factory reset, but does that truly erase everything? And i understand theres also some options to clear delvik cache and others in CWM. Are these caches erased w/ factory reset? thx brah
Odin maybe?

BTW this ISNT like a serious issue and i NEED to erase everything...but ive flashed so many roms over each other i thought it would be good to give my phone a breath of fresh air. haha

Hopefully you will not accomplish your objective. "Everything" includes the Primary Boot Loader, in which case your phone will be permanently bricked, for all intents and purposes.
You will not be able to access the phone by any means other than an expensive tester after you delete USB drivers from the phone.
To erase everything...you need to go settings.phone & sdcard.umount...under phone storage.format....it will mount back on its own

you'll lose everything on the rom including apps that the dev added. only thing you wont lose is stock apps, but no it shouldnt matter what rom your running.

cwm7? Never heard that before.
If you know how to boot to ad recovery, that is, by pressing red/power button while phone is booting then choose Ad Recovery. Then choose wipe data and cache partition. This will restore back everything just like the first time you boot after installing the rom.
Again, wiping data and cache partition will delete all downloaded apps and user and syatem settinga. Be sure to make a backup.

Better do a task29 then install radioand reinstall magldr or clk then install cwm then install rom. In short, start from scratch since you are selling it.

I have been considering jumping right on the HTC Evo 3D when Sprint releases it.
I was planning on selling my HTC Evo 4G on ebay.
What exactly should I do to make sure none of my personal information is left on this phone?
I do have my phone r00ted: Fresh Evo: Current ROM.
Can I just clear the cache, Wipe the SDCard. Do a clean install of Fresh.
Then just shut the phone down and sell it?
Thanks guys!
BAsically, yes. Do a full wipe, flash a new ROM, let it go
in recovery you would wipe user data as well as cache and all that and then do a Rom install.
If you are selling the phone with the SD, wipe SD after you flash the rom.
Hope this helps
Verify that your phone number and Sprint username was removed also . . . on my Moment, only a Factory Reset removed those two items . . .

You can also do that by using the ##768# bjt some has reported that the phone would not activate at all or that the 4G keys get lost. The option I have used to restore my 3G data (which is where the username is used) is the ##DATA# and then typing the MSL then going to Data Profile > Restore. The only detail is that the phone will attempt to get that data back via provisioning as soon as the phone is powered on again so make sure the device is already deactivated before running that step.

Ok I really screwed the pooch on this one. I'm not sure how I did it but I used the cf auto root and cw recovery and flashed the wanalite rom and everything was fine. Then I wanted to try out a new rom so I flashed a cm 10 rom and had no data except wifi. When I turn wifi off there's no little 3g icon and also I can't make calls anymore. There's no little bars at the top only a little circle with a line through it. Ive tried factory reset, flashing the original firmware, messing with the apn settings and so on. Anyone help please?

A little more info. I flashed twrp recovery and used that to make a back up. Then I wiped all the stuff you're supposed to before flashing a new ROM. Now here's where I screwed up. I then wiped the data. The one on the right that makes you type in the word yes to wipe it. I didn't realize it would wipe out all my back up s and everything. So now I can't get my phone to work. If I have to end up taking it in for an insurance claim what should I do. Unroot and use triangle away. Then tell them my problems. I really don't know what to do here. I need your help as I'm not very good at this stuff. Anyone have any fixes?

Best I can tell ya is download a pre rooted rom, should be a mega thread of them and install via odin.
Real simple instructions there.
That should get you back to normal.

Sorry , you're unlucky man. You just wipe all partitions including EFS (IMEI/baseband lost). Only thing is sending the phone to Samsung service and maybe they will change the motherboard or reflash it. No ROM/firmware contains those hidden partitions so flashing your own will not help .

I think that your phone is quite messed up, from the installation point of view.
You have to try to get totally back to stock.
Get your FW from sammobile (the one that matches country, operator, etc). Get stock recovery. Install both, then do (several) factory resets. It should work....
I would not go on very high level workarounds (reinstall PIT< etc), as you might totally brick your phone.

I had same issue on mine but mine is all stock (for now). I had to go back to the settings and pick network operator again in order for it to pick up the network again.
Well I got it fixed. I had to fully unroot then run triangle away and then take it to the sprint store. All they did was a hard reset (not a factory reset but something with their computer) and everything was back to normal. Whew thought I was going to have to get a new phone.

hi, did you check first in your apn list if the settings were present (connexions - more networks - mobile networks - access point names )? If not present check on your operator website to get the information needed. Normally It should have helped you with this problem
Yeah I messed with that for hours. In many different roms. I think I did every thing I possibly could except for hard reset.

Hey, I could really use some guidance here. I'll present the information as simply as I can:
I bought a Galaxy s4 AT&T a few days ago. I've been interested in rooting and flashing different roms, but I think I may have done a bit too much.
I rooted using the motochopper method - great, worked like a charm.
I made a backup of my original rom using CWM. I even took that backup and saved a copy of it on my Mac - perfect.
I thought I'd try Cyanogenmod 10.1, so I downloaded the latest nightly build and flashed it using CWM - so far so good.
Everything was working fine, but my LTE (or any data) was not working at all. I could use Wifi, but once I turned wifi off, I had no data, no gps, no 3g, no 4g, no LTE. I tried the *#*#4636*#*# method, the LTEOnOff app, and changing my APN based on the recommendations provided in this thread - I just couldn't get it to work.
I thought I'd try restoring my original backup, but when I went into CWM to do so, it said that my backup could not be found...(I still have a backup on my computer, just in case)
I needed my phone to work, and badly needed LTE to do so. So, I downloaded this rom: [ROM] CleanROM 1.0 -★| Clean and Smooth! | The Way Nature Intended! |★-
So far, this rom was working fine - it's just a debloated version of TouchWiz - which I like. But, here's my problem now - If my phone reboots, it stays frozen on the Samsung logo (with unlocked lock logo underneath), and I can't get past it. I'd have to go BACK into recovery, and flash the CleanROM all over again, and set my phone up as new with all data wiped.
I really need my phone to work again, and I don't know where to go from here. What options do I have left? What can I do to get out of that frozen Samsung loading screen? Can't I just reset my phone to the way it was? Can't the CM10.1 rom work with LTE?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Your best option is to flash the stock MDB firmware via odin . After you get the PASS on Odin go ahead and manually boot into stock recovery and wipe data factory reset again then reboot. You will have to re root and reinstall recovery but this will take care of any issues you had from a bad flash.

Having the same issue so I figured I'd give these steps a shot. Followed them exactly and phone (AT&T S4, TWRP) would won't even reboot the first time into CleanROM. I'm stuck on the Samsung screen with the lock.
edit: I've noticed that now, when I reboot into TWRP, it prompts me for a password. Hitting cancel takes me to the regular home screen, but I had not been getting the password prompt before attempting to install CleanROM. A permissions issue, perhaps?
edit 2:
I've just spent some time trying a bunch of things with bits of good luck surrounded with tons of bad. Below are the steps I've taken to try to get CleanROM to boot (and reboot) without any issues. Hopefully they help figure out the issues we're having.

Wipe /system
Flash CleanROM
Reboot

Factory Reset: failed

As I mentioned before starting over is always the Best and Safe way to go. Shortcuts will only cause you headaches and possibly get you a brick that is why you see Odin stock threads.
