hi!
i recently bought an omnia 7 on ebay, t-mobile locked.
due to i have a vodafon contract, i unlocked it online, with imei unlock.
now the phone accepts my sim card, but i keep getting "no service".
today i bought a t-mobile sim card, just to try, and it is the same.
when i am changing sim cards, the network profile app changes the settings.
i flashed another rom, found here (jj6 uk), i updated to 7720, nothing helps.
i guess it isnt the sim card reader, cause the network profile app recognises any sim card.
is there an antenna problem or just some software thing?
can i fix the antenna by myself, if it is broken or sthing?...
i fall in love with this phone, i dont want to get rid of it...
any suggestions appreciated.

I am a newbie when it comes to flashing, unlocking and all that. I have a T-Mo branded MDA and my fingers were itchy to get it unlocked. I followed the procedures listed here to the letter, and after no evident issues, wizard service tools says my phone is SIM/CID unlocked. I used WST before downgrading / unlocking, and my phone was locked for both. I am now sporting WM5 2.26 (IPL/SPL 2.26) and my phone is like it was before the unlocking. I would like to update the radio rom and flash WM6 but before that, I would like to make sure my phone is still ok. I currently have radio rom 2.25.11 which is what the phone came with when I got it off ebay.
I do not have another active SIM to test my phone's new SIM unlocked status. I do have an expired prepaid ATT sim card. When I put it in the phone, it boots without asking me for any passwords, however the phone finds no signal. (It sees the network -only Rogers - but it cannot register onto it) I put the ATT inactive sim in another unlocked phone and that one has a signal but says the sim is inactive. I usually live in Florida but I'm on vacation in Canada at the moment so I don't know if Roaming issues might be a problem. T-Mo can roam here but I don't know about Cingular. (and yet the other unlocked phone had a signal)
Should I be concerned about this? Does it mean something went wrong? Can I do anything about it? It's kinda pointless to have an unlocked phone if it will not see the other networks. Any ideas? I think I've seen similar threads here but I tried searching and couldn't find any anymore. I've been up all night and my brain is foggy. Any input you might have would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Diana
so nobody encountered this problem before?
An unlocked phone isn't going to connect to any network unless you've got an active SIM card in it.
The fact that it turns on and boots up with the inactive ATT SIM card in there without asking for a subsidy password, means that you've successfully unlocked it.
If you want the phone to get a signal, you need to put an active SIM card (any active SIM card) in the MDA.
Hi,
i have a new g1 phone, which was unlocked last week. everything worked for a short while, but suddenly i've received a "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" error message, and couldn't find a network anymore.
i've tried to hard-reset, but since then it doesn't recognizes my sim card (or any other sim card). i just get a 'no sim card in phone' message.
what can i do?
thanks!

Go to your carrier's nearest store and get a new SIM card?
The first step might be to remove and CLEAN your simcard.
If that doesn't work, concentrate on REPLACING the simcard.
well, i've already tried 3 different sim cards, none of which were recognized by the G1, so i'm assuming this isn't caused by the card itself. right?
Settings -> Security & location -> Set up SIM card lock -> disable then re-enable Lock SIM card.
That should fix it.
I am also having this problem with my G1; I have no service on any of the sim cards i have tested.
When searching for networks it happily finds them all, but will not connect.
I tried the tip mentioned above with no luck.
If anyone knows the solution that would be fantastic!
Hi all
Wondering if anyone can shed any light on this. I've just sold my HTC Tattoo (which is locked to Orange) to a friend. I had been using this phone on o2, it was possible due to an ismart-sim that I had in there. I sold the i-smartsim with the phone so that he could use the phone with his vodafone sim.. but it is not working.
As the phone starts, it asks for his PIN code but then won't register on the network after it has powered up. Without the ismart in there, it rejects the sim card outright - so it is def having some effect.
The only difference we can see is the o2/vodafone sim that I have has only 6 connection points on it, vs the 8 on his sim card. Because the i-smart sits between the sim and the phone it will prevent these extra two points from connecting.
Anyone know why the vodafone sim is different, and if it can be changed for a 6 connection version?
Dear all,
I have an issue with my Omnia 7 and need your help. My phone is Unlocked T-Mobile Brand. I can use SIM cards of several company except the one I use regularly. When I insert this SIM, phone is SIM locked and phone function is not working at all. When I press on phone tile, it brings me to home screen. SIM card from other providers work fine. So it is strange to me.
Could you help me? I want it to work with this SIM.
Thanks
That sounds very strange. Surely it must be something to do with that particular SIM card if your phone is SIM unlocked and other providers are working?
I recently got an HD2. According to the seller it is unlocked, but With my AT&T SIM card in it, it won't connect to the network. Originally it had WM6.5 but I just installed ICS and it does the same thing. Help?
I think it possibly my SIM card was locked to my previous phone (I don't think I would have done that though). It wouldn't let me into the SIM lock info in the settings and now it is PUK-locked. I will try to get the PUK code from AT&T.
EDIT:
I just got the PUK code and unlocked the SIM. AT&T wouldn't show up in the available networks before; now it does. It still won't connect though. It cannot get past "Registering on AT&T..."
