1 How do I open URL's with Opera Browser by DEFAULT
2 I went into Total Commander and deleted the file association for URLs in attempt to make it work for Opera Browser on the Xperia.
Well, it doesn't work, and when I set it to iexplorer.exe the Xperia gives me infinite loops and freezes on me.
Can someone just give me the default association settings when they click on properties, I am sure this will fix my URL opening problem.
Download and install Xperiatweak, it has an option to set your default browser.

That doesn't apply to Total Commander or File Browser....
Dude you should try it. Save a URL on a real computer, transfer it into your phone, and then open it via any file browser.
It will open in Internet Explorer.
LISTEN PEOPLE, instead of giving suggestions that will not work, can someone just please follow these steps in Total Commander and tell me what is on the screen?
Step 0: Upload a .URL file into your storage card
Step 1: Click on Program Menus
Step 2: Click on Total Commander
Step 3: Press and hold on a URL file inside your memory card
Step 4: Click on properties
Step 5: Click on the Associate tab
Step 6: Click on the Associate button
Step 7: tell me exactly what is shown on the following fields: Command, Parameter, Icon File, and Index
I thank any angel that helps me out on this.
Someone please help me, I know one of you has total commander, can make URLs, and has windows mobile 6.1.
i had this problem also and have fixed most of the links to opera except for emails. the screenshots below show the associations for .html and .url which are different. i'm guessing .html is probably the one you want to copy but i have provided both just in case. i ended up using a cab as there are registry settings for others and i had problems with rss hub links. if i find the cab i'll post it but i got it from xda-devs general section i think, try a search for opera associations, opera rss or something like that.
EDIT: my email links do work, i'm sure there is something that still opens PIE but i can't remember. check the reg key HKLM> Software> microsoft> shell> rai> : DEFBROWSER
0=Opera Browser
1="\windows\OperaL.exe"

Thank you dear sir, I'll also look into searching the words: Opera and association
I didn't know about html associations. I'll see if your solution works (soon)!

All I get is a blank page, even thought I can still browse the internet and all, the URLs still dont open!!!!!!!!
The file I am trying to open is URL because when I save a bookmark or website url, I want to open it via Total Commander, exactly the way I open Microsoft Word Documents.
I have no idea what the heck .html files are, but anyways, your method and your registry cab does not work...
What am I doing wrong? And what exactly are .html files?
Please help me, I find it very inconvenient to be forced to go to Opera Browser and then open links from there.
It would be much easier to click a saved link and then open via opera browser.
I used PHM Registry Editor
and
ab 0 = Opera Browser
ab 1 = "\Windows\OperaL.exe
D 2 = 1 (0X000001)
D 3 = 0 (00000000)
It still doesnt work
1. Ok...what are HTML files?
2. What the heck does it mean to open Email links? Does it mean to open a URL like "www.hotmail.com"?
3. How do I open a website link from my Windows Vista that is transferred into Windows Mobile?
I tried your advice and it doesn't work. When I open www.google.com via a .URL file... this is what I get in the address bar in opera:
file:/Storage%20Card/My%Stuff/Google.url
I want to see this in the Opera address bar:
http://www.google.com/
I am basically talking about opening bookmarks in the form as URL. because bookmarks can only be saved in URL format via Internet Explorer or Mozilla firefox on my computer, so how do I open these bookmarks when transferred?
TK OperaBookmarks v1.0
----------------------
This utility dump the Opera bookmarks from opera6.adr file into a HTML page by default:
\My Documents\Favoris.htm
and then launch this file in the Opera Browser.
I did it because the bookmarks in Opera are not managed very well, it's slow and not so user friendly.
Some parameters can be edited into the \Program Files\OperaBookmarks\OperaBookmarks.xml config file :
<Config>
<OperaBookmarks>\Windows\Opera9\opera6.adr</OperaBookmarks>
<OperaExecutable>\Windows\OperaL.exe</OperaExecutable>
<OutputBookmarks>\My Documents\Favoris.htm</OutputBookmarks>
</Config>
Additionaly the html template can also be changed according to your best look and feel editing the
\Program Files\OperaBookmarks\template_xxx.htm files
How to add it in your Manila Internet Portal:
1) edit \Application Data\Manila\InternetPortal(-fr-FR).xml and add an entry to the OperaBookmark.exe like this :
<Link
Text="Favoris"
Executable="\Program Files\OperaBookmarks\OperaBookmarks.exe"
ImagePath="\Application Data\Manila\favoris.png" />
2) copy the favoris.png in the same folder
Requirement : Compact Framework v2.0 or earlier
Damn good idea, I am going to use this & make opera open it as my default (home) page.
Thanks very much.
Hello,
I can add favorites to IEMobile via a provisioning document in a .cab file. But how do I do this for Opera Mobile bookmarks?
Thank you very much.
It's simple, go on the opera dir, copy this file : "opera6.adr", and you have your bookmarks!
If you want, you can just copy manually this file each flash, or make a cab to copy it automatically.
And how can I do this with a .cab file or a provisoning document? I want to add bookmarks to specific URLs in Opera Mobile. And the user shall do nothing else than downloading my .cab file and install it.
I am coming from Windows Mobile experience and I have a basic file browsing question. Using Dolphin I downloaded a YouTube video I wanted to watch later. It just occurred to me though that I have absolutely no idea how to browse to find that file. Is there any sort of file or directory browsing possible?
What am I missing? Where are downloaded files stored? How do you access a file on your memory card?
If you open the photo gallery, you will see any Videos in there. Android doesn't come with a normal file browser for some reason.
Most of us use Astro file manager, which is free. You also would want to install OI File Manager if you want to add non-jpg attachments to emails.

Thank you Humpa. I found the videos there like you said. What if I download a word doc or pdf? Would that be as easy to find? I downloaded Astro File Manager. I will play around with it soon.
I also find it surprising that there is no file browser. Thanks again.
File Browser
You can also try ES File Explorer. It's a great file browser with the ability to browse your NAS and LAN Networks.
I have ES too. Along with what mrmomoman said, it also does ftp. And that LAN browser is handy for some people (and it does samba shares as well).
Hello
I need to edit some HTML files on my tablet.
I know that we can't open a local HTML file in the browser. Only with HTML Viewer, but without javascript.
Is it possible to install a local server, as a workaround ?
Thank you for your help.
I can recommend you Dolphin Browser HD. It is not freeware, but it is the only one with which I could open local html files on my other device (i think there is a demo version if you don't want to pay. well, everyone knows what to do when they don't want to pay). And I think you can install pretty much any linux disto in chroot but you need root access first.
