Hi all,
Does anyone know where does Opera 8.2 for Windows Mobile 5 (MDA) keep it's bookmark and user settings? Opera says that it's located in a file that is unique to the installation file (Symbian, WM5, etc.), but I don't know where is it.
Can anyone help?

In Opera 8.50 for Windows Mobile BETA (1635):
\Application Data\Opera\opera6.adr --> favorites (you can edit with notepad or something)
\Application Data\Opera\english.lng --> language file (you can edit with notepad and translate to your own language if wanted, save to english.lng because there is no way to switch languages in Opera itself)
\Application Data\Opera\input.ini & opera.ini --> settings voor the Opera browser itself
Thanks a mil, 2tje!
1 How do I open URL's with Opera Browser by DEFAULT
2 I went into Total Commander and deleted the file association for URLs in attempt to make it work for Opera Browser on the Xperia.
Well, it doesn't work, and when I set it to iexplorer.exe the Xperia gives me infinite loops and freezes on me.
Can someone just give me the default association settings when they click on properties, I am sure this will fix my URL opening problem.
Download and install Xperiatweak, it has an option to set your default browser.

That doesn't apply to Total Commander or File Browser....
Dude you should try it. Save a URL on a real computer, transfer it into your phone, and then open it via any file browser.
It will open in Internet Explorer.
LISTEN PEOPLE, instead of giving suggestions that will not work, can someone just please follow these steps in Total Commander and tell me what is on the screen?
Step 0: Upload a .URL file into your storage card
Step 1: Click on Program Menus
Step 2: Click on Total Commander
Step 3: Press and hold on a URL file inside your memory card
Step 4: Click on properties
Step 5: Click on the Associate tab
Step 6: Click on the Associate button
Step 7: tell me exactly what is shown on the following fields: Command, Parameter, Icon File, and Index
I thank any angel that helps me out on this.
Someone please help me, I know one of you has total commander, can make URLs, and has windows mobile 6.1.
i had this problem also and have fixed most of the links to opera except for emails. the screenshots below show the associations for .html and .url which are different. i'm guessing .html is probably the one you want to copy but i have provided both just in case. i ended up using a cab as there are registry settings for others and i had problems with rss hub links. if i find the cab i'll post it but i got it from xda-devs general section i think, try a search for opera associations, opera rss or something like that.
EDIT: my email links do work, i'm sure there is something that still opens PIE but i can't remember. check the reg key HKLM> Software> microsoft> shell> rai> : DEFBROWSER
0=Opera Browser
1="\windows\OperaL.exe"

All I get is a blank page, even thought I can still browse the internet and all, the URLs still dont open!!!!!!!!
The file I am trying to open is URL because when I save a bookmark or website url, I want to open it via Total Commander, exactly the way I open Microsoft Word Documents.
I have no idea what the heck .html files are, but anyways, your method and your registry cab does not work...
What am I doing wrong? And what exactly are .html files?
Please help me, I find it very inconvenient to be forced to go to Opera Browser and then open links from there.
It would be much easier to click a saved link and then open via opera browser.
I used PHM Registry Editor
and
ab 0 = Opera Browser
ab 1 = "\Windows\OperaL.exe
D 2 = 1 (0X000001)
D 3 = 0 (00000000)
It still doesnt work
1. Ok...what are HTML files?
2. What the heck does it mean to open Email links? Does it mean to open a URL like "www.hotmail.com"?
3. How do I open a website link from my Windows Vista that is transferred into Windows Mobile?
I tried your advice and it doesn't work. When I open www.google.com via a .URL file... this is what I get in the address bar in opera:
file:/Storage%20Card/My%Stuff/Google.url
I want to see this in the Opera address bar:
http://www.google.com/
I am basically talking about opening bookmarks in the form as URL. because bookmarks can only be saved in URL format via Internet Explorer or Mozilla firefox on my computer, so how do I open these bookmarks when transferred?
Hello,
I can add favorites to IEMobile via a provisioning document in a .cab file. But how do I do this for Opera Mobile bookmarks?
Thank you very much.
It's simple, go on the opera dir, copy this file : "opera6.adr", and you have your bookmarks!
If you want, you can just copy manually this file each flash, or make a cab to copy it automatically.
And how can I do this with a .cab file or a provisoning document? I want to add bookmarks to specific URLs in Opera Mobile. And the user shall do nothing else than downloading my .cab file and install it.
Hi at all,
Often I need to use a simple text editor instead of a more complex (and heavy) programs (like word) just for create or edit simple text files, then I have written a very simple applicatation to view a text files (txt, log, bat, ...).
Notepad is a simple text editor with the possibility to open and save documents in differents text format. The notepad functionalities are intentionally left simple for not to be too heavy.
Funcionalities:
- Context menu' with Cut, Copy and Paste commands.
- Clipboard shared with other applications (is possibile to copy text from other application (like word) end paste in notepad, and viceversa)
- Insert today date (from edit menu' and from context menu')
- Delete current file from file system
- Open and save files in any folder browsing file system (instead of classic open file dialog)
Prerequisities :
- .NET Compact Framework 2.0 ( www.microsoft.com )
Installation.
Download zip file
unzip in any folder and copy CAB file on device.
Use fileExplorer to found a CAB file and run it.
It will be installed and will be created an icon in Program Files.

Hello,
I'll admit upfront I'm a newbie with Android so please bear with me.
In Windows, Internet Explorer favourites have an extension of URL and when I click on them in a file manager, the default launcher opens to that web site.
Does this capability exist in Android? I want to be able to have a folder with Internet links in it, be able to browse that folder with a file manager, and tap on a link to open the web site in the default browser.
I don't want to use the bookmarks feature that's built into the web browsers I've tried.
I'm running CM7.1+ if that makes a difference.
Thanks,
Steve
Not Nook related, but an Android thing, I haven't found an answer to the URL extension myself. I'd like to put a URL file on my sdcard and open it with a browser via file manager, but it doesn't work.
Here is a workaround. Give your file an HTML extension, and put your link in as follows:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0;url=https://www.google.com/" />
</head>
<body>
<p>Redirecting...</p>
</body>
</html>
