First of all, i'm not a dev...so, do not ask to much. I'm just a newbie that read and learn too much
This is a tutorial to make a script the easy way! As i google a lot, i find most dev are telling u a big lie! And u dont know it, most of popular words from them is "u have to use notepad++" or something advance like it to edit and make a script.
THE SECRET NOW REVEALED!
Well, lets make it simple...what u need is;
1.Root phone.
2.Root explorer or any file manager with root access.
3.A brain that can think
Our test subject is the Battery Tweak, copy script below;
#!/system/bin/sh
echo "500" > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_ centisecs
echo "1000" > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_ centisecs
-Open root explorer, go to your sdcard.
-Tab menu> more> new file.
-Write a name like 25BatteryTweak.
-Save!
-Now, tab and hold on the file then tab Open in text editor.
-Tab and hold to paste the script.
-Save!
There u have it, a script made by u
All u have to do now is copy it to system/init.d folder then tab on mount/rw.
Tab and hold the file, tab permission and set permission to rwxr-xr-x like picture below then reboot!
All done in the phone, NO pc required!
My collections of SCRIPT'S
Default I/O Scheduler
BFQ
CFQ
DEADLINE
NOOP
VR
SIO
etc:
TOUCH KEY LIGHT OFF
INTERNET SPEED TWEAK
BATTERY TWEAK
DEADLINE IO SCHEDULER TWEAK
KERNEL TWEAK
Why i make a sapareted script? For me, bloat script with too much lines wont work dont get it? Figure out yourself
( if u download the script via PC and it became notepad file with .txt extention, dont panic dude just put it in your sd then rename the script by remove the ".txt" )
------------------------------
How to check if the script is execute or not?
For example, to check the battery tweak...before u apply the script type this on terminal emulator;
su
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_ centisecs
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_ centisecs
U will get...
su
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_ centisecs
1000
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_ centisecs
2000
After apply the tweak u will get to see the change in the default value...
su
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_ centisecs
500
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_ centisecs
1000

At first attempt: The tweak in the OP.
I'll let it run for a week. Should by then everything seems to be ok, I'll tackle your next script ("TOUCH KEY LIGHT OFF"). If it should becoming somehow disturbing to the whole eco system, I can just uninstall the script by deleting it from the init.d folder, right?
... Sorry for the noobish questions. Thanks in advance! ...

So pyronia, please continue with your tedious work of finding scripts and explaining it to newbies with easy and understandable words. At least, we three do really appreciate your time spent on the hunt for those treasures and bringing them to the ACE.

Now then ... here are some voices calling out for help to enable init.d for stock roms. A simple request, which even the Pros could not fulfill after half a year. Since we both are noobs, shouldn't we dare to take this challenge on and teach some "Pros" how to do it with a CWM flashable zip? Regarding the time constraint for the release: We'll have at least one year, because we're noobs anyway. ...
I'll PM you for a brainstorming session, if you want to take it on.

[UTIL]fxdjtg01_sddl+.exe - update for tg01_sddl+.exe

Hi.
Here http://www.sendspace.com/file/eui7zi ,
You can find update for well know utility tg01_sddl+.exe .
I named it fxdjtg01_sddl+.exe
1) Minor changes
a) Removed 90% battery level limit . Now user decide whether dowload rom
if battery level is < 90 % . Warning message box appears. From my practice
it is safe download even when battery level is 60%. But You decide.
2) Major changes
a) Download of .bin files has been added.
You know from other sources that downloading of .bin rom image is much faster
than .tsw image.
As was so far in prg folder on SD card there should be only one file - .tsw or .bin.
Creation of .bin file via tgtool or other available tools.
Enjoy
Special thanks to:
- colleague stepw from Modaco forum . Without His help, this update would be impossible.
- feropont for tests of this release.
It seems that this thread should be sticky but I do not know how to do it . Any suggestion ?
Regards
fxdjacentyfxd
Thank you so much, the time it takes to make sure the battery is fully charged every time is a real pain, so this is a real lifesaver for us flashjunkies!

Brilliant, once again!
One question: How faster is using a BIN file versus the same file on .tsw?
And if remarkable, a suggestion: What about if cookers start launching BIN files instead of the legacy tsw files?
Best Regards

Hmm, it seems to be not so "colourfully" like in Nokser's experiment in this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11744433&postcount=1
I guess He did this 3-pin test with original bootloader and He said that upload took 1-2 minutes. With software enter to bootloader via sdll+ , time gain seems to be much worse.
But Pere, do not ask, check it
Even if .bin uploading will turn out to be not worth to utilize in comparison to .tsw files, You always have 90% battery limit removed

I've tested and compared the same ROM on.tsw and .bin and I was surprised by the fact that file size is exactly the same. So, no advantage on this way. Instead, Flash speed is faster on BIN (approx. half of the standard time), but as flashing is not a daily operation (except perhaps for some compulsive Rom testers.. ) I think that the use of BIN files is not a great advantage, and most of us really prefer your program because the absence of 90% battery limit (we are all old enough and don't like this kind of paternalist limitations)

Ubuntu on Galaxy Ace / Android Devices [Download link dead, uploader needed]

Well, I'm just sharing what I found
Original Post
Credits to him,*I'm just sharing
Install Ubuntu on your Galaxy Ace without wiping your android OS!
First , download this (Sorry , the link is dead), (it is the original ubuntu.img after all the steps have been completed so you dont have to install lxde or vncserver or set anything up. this is ready to go.)
While you are downloading the file , search 'android vnc' on market ,download the first thing u see (it's a free app).
After you finished download , extract the file and put BOTH of the file to your sdcard.
Now, open android terminal or adb , it doesn't matter (adb is easier to type)
Type this:
Code:
su
sh /sdcard/chubuntu
when you are done , the '#' will becomes '[email protected]' and you are now on Ubuntu!
**DONT CLEAR RAM /EXIT TERMINAL DURING THIS PERIOD ! U NEED TO LET IT RUN IN BACKGROUND !
There are one line like this in the output :New 'X' desktop is localhost:*
Now open the android vnc u hav downloaded:
Nickname : (whatever u like)
password : password
Address : localhost
Port :590* (if ur localhost:1 , then port:5901)
Colour Format:24-bot colour (4bpp)
and click connect then u will see the Ubuntu UI!
Found the screen is too big ?
Press menu and hit 'disconnect' , go app drawer and click terminal emulater , u can use adb too if u havent close it
Code:
export USER=root
vncserver -geometry width×high
If u type 480x320 then the Ubuntu screen will fit ur ace screen
And now u will notice that the output : New 'X' desktop is localhost:*
The * has changed (eg:5901 to 5902)
Remember to change the port number in android vnc and connect again !
Clear ram (exit terminal) when u dont want use Ubuntu
It's just a installation , figure it out urself since I'm just installed it today and I'm a newbie too
You can view this site too: nexusonehacks.net/nexus-one-hacks/how-to-install-ubuntu-on-your-android/
To edit timezone:
go termital / adb (when u are in ubuntu 'localhost')
type :
Code:
dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
===========================================
Sorry that the link is dead, can anyone who have the file can upload for me ?
Or who have a premium mediafire account and can lend it to me as with free id, I can only upload 200mb file each time but this time is 4xx mb file.. =(
Thanks in advance

I did this a long time ago when I was still on stock rom, was kinda slow and pretty useless (might be faster now with roms like cm7?). But I dont really see why you would do this except showing off. (which i actually did to my buddy and then removed it xD)

Since it is a full linux environment unlike android I wanted to utilise to its fullest.
You can easily install gcc and c++.
As you do in ubuntu..for example apt-get install g++.
As you know g++ is the gnu version of c++.
Installed Ubuntu on my SGA and everything was working as expected. Had to mount some partitions from the phone so i could use it (i.e. /proc). WiFi working, ssh, and i manage to compile aircrack-ng for the lulz... Stoped playing with this after finding i couldnt inject packets with aircrack-ng.
VNC should work also since its easy to run any X session. Phone lags alot doing anything else.
If u r beginner user, I'thing better you using go launcher, then install ubuntu theme..

Terminator is too long to type. You should change it.
Sounds really good. I am not a script expert and dont know how to tell if a script is running. So what i need to know is..
does terminator run in the background
or
when you type 'su terminator' does it execute, kill the leeching apps and then kill itself?

it execute and tell you what processes are running and tell you their ram usage
u can kill them by inserting their PID (those no in first column)
if u set your terminal emulator get killed by back key then it will be killed once u exits it
i think i will make a better version to help user kill those apps which should not run in background more easily
is there a possibility that those apps you've "killed" can basically running again without opening or using them.? just a noob question..
thanks.
Does this work on AOKP ?

[Guide]Noob Guide To Set File Permission's [28-08-2012]

Hey Guys i have often seen lot of Question regarding the same "How to set the file permission,sorry i am a noob please explain?"
well this we come across on all threads, at some given point of time.
Reason being simple that we suggest some people to do as said below:
Hey,
1) copy the file XXXX to your Internal or External sd-card.
2) push the file XXXX to sytem/xxxx folder.
3) set permissions to rw-r--r-- blah blah blah.
4) reboot your phone and see.
Then comes the question again from the same people as below:
Hey,
1) I have done accordingly, but really confused regarding File permission though please explain?
2) How to set File Permission?
3) what is rw-r--r-- blah blah i cannot get it? etc.
So this Simple Guide will defenetly help the people with the same.
Let me not go in depth regarding the same,Since this excellent Tutorial from Matt Doyle explain's in more detail about it
Understanding File Permissions- by Matt Doyle
In order to set the file permission all you need is to have Root explore/Browser or similar type of File manager app been installed on your phone, with Root access.
when you open the File manager you see all your files and folder listed there, thats not our main concern, but something below each one of those file's or folder's, what we are really interested in like:
under say Data folder you see something like 'rwxrwx--x' which is of real concern here.
when you long press on the same Data Folder a pop appears as below
Fig 1
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and when you select Permissions in that pop up menu it appears as below.
Fig 2
as you can see in the pic above the permission is set to 'rwxrwx--x' (771 according to Table below)
So in order to set the right Permission for a file, after you have copied the file to the relavent folder, all you have to follow is the below steps and also the Table guide below it.
1)Any File Manager app like Root Explorer/Browser,Es-file explorer installed with root access (Do ensure to Mount as R/W (Read/Write)).
2)Find the File which you have copied to the appropriate Folder for which you have to set Permissions with the above installed file manager app.
3) Long press on the file to open a pop up menu as shown in Fig 1 above.
4)Set Permission accordingly ( been suggested by people for you) using the table guide below as reference.
5) Then reboot your phone for the same (Permission set) to take effect.
Table Guide for Reference
----------------------------------
No- Box is Unchecked, Yes- Box Checked
So, for example:
777 is the same as rwxrwxrwx
755 is the same as rwxr-xr-x
666 is the same as rw-rw-rw- and so on.
I do hope this Guide will come in handy to all those people who want to set filepermission, but need some clarity upon the same.
All Credit to Matt Doyle for his Excellent Tutorial on 'Understanding File Permissions' which being an inspiration for me to make this Guide.
And also like to Thank the XDA for this wonderfull Knowledge based Site.
All constructive Comments to improve the same by my fellow Member's are Welcome

As I wrote the steps I did followed and got transferred to simplistic framework.
And as your query about multiwindow you can toggle it from Statusbar.
Tip: I got simplistic framework and now I can configure all my hardware buttons to whatever I want.

The issue's face are all mentioned.
And with the solution.
If you are facing a issue's in this steps then there's the issue's in the flashing of SSHD V3 so Reflashed the rom with the clean flash then follow this steps.

Make a precaution that.
All the toggles are off and screen toneout is 10mins.
Make all changes in that 10 mins.
And make a cleanflash before doing alk this.

I've done what you say without success:
1) Make clean flash of the rom after ROM Wipe from Philz
2) Disable all toggles from AdvanceS
3) Set screen timeout 10 mins
4) Rename android.policy.jar TO android.policy.jar.23
Reboot and boot loop

im new to sshd 3
im still confuse between 23 toggle and simplistic framework
whats the different between these 2 "things" ?
mind to explain little bit more ?
if you can provide image to show me the different then it will be great

i started to understand a little bit by watching youtube video
so we only can choose between 23 toggles or simplistic framework right?
and simplistic framework only work in 320dpi phone UI right ?
one thing to ask that i saw u said you can change all the hardware button into whatever you like
is it possible to change the volume button to wake up the phone when the phone is in lock mode ?
if yes i think i will purchase the simplistic control app for this

Hey Bro.
These are 2 different framework.
23 is the default one came with SSHD v3
And this guide is Only you to avail the switching over Simplistic framework.
The best advantage of being to simplistic framework.
It gives the more customisation option.
It works in 320 Phone UI.
Yes you can change all the hardware buttons too whatever you want.
For all this to do you need the simplistic control app.
We didn't included as its a paid app.
