[UTIL]fxdjtg01_sddl+.exe - update for tg01_sddl+.exe - TG01 ROM Development

Hi.
Here http://www.sendspace.com/file/eui7zi ,
You can find update for well know utility tg01_sddl+.exe .
I named it fxdjtg01_sddl+.exe
1) Minor changes
a) Removed 90% battery level limit . Now user decide whether dowload rom
if battery level is < 90 % . Warning message box appears. From my practice
it is safe download even when battery level is 60%. But You decide.
2) Major changes
a) Download of .bin files has been added.
You know from other sources that downloading of .bin rom image is much faster
than .tsw image.
As was so far in prg folder on SD card there should be only one file - .tsw or .bin.
Creation of .bin file via tgtool or other available tools.
Enjoy
Special thanks to:
- colleague stepw from Modaco forum . Without His help, this update would be impossible.
- feropont for tests of this release.
It seems that this thread should be sticky but I do not know how to do it . Any suggestion ?
Regards
fxdjacentyfxd

Thank you so much, the time it takes to make sure the battery is fully charged every time is a real pain, so this is a real lifesaver for us flashjunkies!

Brilliant, once again!
One question: How faster is using a BIN file versus the same file on .tsw?
And if remarkable, a suggestion: What about if cookers start launching BIN files instead of the legacy tsw files?
Best Regards

Hmm, it seems to be not so "colourfully" like in Nokser's experiment in this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11744433&postcount=1
I guess He did this 3-pin test with original bootloader and He said that upload took 1-2 minutes. With software enter to bootloader via sdll+ , time gain seems to be much worse.
But Pere, do not ask, check it
Even if .bin uploading will turn out to be not worth to utilize in comparison to .tsw files, You always have 90% battery limit removed

I have make a little package to create bin files:
http://rapidshare.com/files/452393157/Bin_Creator.rar
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=099U2COQ
It is with Command Prompt that's mean this is easy for
peaple how don't know to use cmd.
It goes directly in the path in cmd where it tgtool is.

Thanks gentelmans but could anybody tell me whether flashing time of .bin file is in Your oppinion significantly shorter than .tsw file or rather only benefit of this software is absence of 90% battery limit ?

I've tested and compared the same ROM on.tsw and .bin and I was surprised by the fact that file size is exactly the same. So, no advantage on this way. Instead, Flash speed is faster on BIN (approx. half of the standard time), but as flashing is not a daily operation (except perhaps for some compulsive Rom testers.. ) I think that the use of BIN files is not a great advantage, and most of us really prefer your program because the absence of 90% battery limit (we are all old enough and don't like this kind of paternalist limitations)

don't you have any manner or whatsoever???
do you think that everyone in this forum will completely abandon WM6.5 and turn to WM6.1 just because of my opinion???
i was just trying to help newbies like me from what i learnt the hardway...
and if somebody is wrong...tell it in a way that the person is not offended but rather thankful for the correction...

Buddy no offence to you but i just saw that everywhere you are speaking against wm 6.5 ok its no problem if you dont like that leave you can express your feelings etc in Normal opal thread not in the thread of a rom release. In this thread lecamtran released a rom so that you can test and give a feedback instead of telling others that you dont like it.
If you dont like it there is no need to post here keep you opinions with you or post in relevent sections..
Take it light dude i can understand but please open a thread in Touch Viva, MDA Basic General i and others will be glad to discuss about that there. I hope you got my point...
Sorry if it hurted my intention was not to hurt you..
NO FEEDBACK ABOUT THIS ROM?!!!
If it's not so battery drain i'll try it... ( in wm 6.5 nearly 2 days usage is ok for me! )
plz leave your opinion instead of argument!
well...that's nice to hear...apology accepted
and i am sorry too.
forgive and forget...and hope i keep my big mouth in check..lol!!!!
i am currently downloading it...will test and give feedback.
thanks again for your understanding.

Make Your Own ROM's With OSKitchen, Pics And All, Rev 2

Hi, This thread is only for people who to actually learn, if you follow the thread, you will be able to Cook, don't just download OsKitchen and press some buttons and complain because it didn't work!
So then, if you are intrested in learning, read on
Contents:
Post 2 - Installing OsKitchen And Adding Your Device
Post 3 - What Are SYS's, OEM's And Other Meaningless 3 Letter Words?
Post 4 - Adding New EXT Packages
Post 5 - Customising
Post 6 - Adding New SYS Bulids
Post 7 - Acknowledgements And Disclaimer
I Put A Lot Of Time And Effort Into These Tut's, So If I Have Helped You, Help Me And Donate Here
Installing OsKitchen And Adding Your Device
OK, this post is for installing OSKitchen on your PC, so first, some requirements
A Windows PC
1 GB + of RAM
600MB+ HDD Space
1.4 GHZ Dual Core Processor or 2.2 GHZ Single Core (Any better will work fine)
Windows XP/Vista/Se7en
A Stock ROM for your HTC Phone
An Internet Connection
If you have lower than these requirments (Hardware wise) OSKitchen will still run, but these were the mininum I could get it running and cooking at a decent speed.
So, to start off, go HERE to download the kitchen, the screen should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Click the link, when downloaded, you should have the file shown here:
Open it, there should be a .EXE and a Folder named "Resources", the structure should be:
Now go to one of your HDD's and create a folder:
Extract them using the extract button in the sidebar (XP) or the menu bar (Se7en & Vista), extract them to your new folder (Kitchen, in my case):
When they have extracted, your new folder should look like this:
Next, Run osKitchen.EXE as and Administrator, right click "Run As Admin" for Se7en and Vista, Admin logon for XP, you will get the following window:
I have filled it in already, but you mus locate your Stock ROM and select your Device. Click next, the build imports and this window appears:
I have allready filled mine in, it isn't like that by default.
When you see this screen
You Have Installed OSKitchen!
What Are SYS's, OEM's And Other Meaningless 3 Letter Words?
Ok, so I lied, there are some 6 and 2 letter words, but anyway, this is the Jargon thread, I will list as many definitions as I can remember here.
SYS - The core files that make up Winmo
XIP - A series of core drivers that control the hardware access and the layout of WM itself, it is a long term storage section that doesn'y copy itself into the RAM of the Device
OEM - Drivers and tweaks from the OEM (HTC)
ROM - The read only memory inside the device, this is where the Winmo OS is stored
REG - A Registry entry
DSM - A file that tells the kitchen where everything in that package should go
SPL - A bootloader
NBH - The image file that you flash to the device
NB - A section of the NBH, it could be OS.NB, Splash.NB, Radio.NB, SPL.NB, ExtROM.NB, and others on older devices
NAND - Some devices such as the Diamond and the Omnia 1 have a secondary file store, a built in MicroSD card that is a very high speed
Adding New EXT Packages
Ok, so this post shows you how to add Cabs and applications to your ROM, so they are pre installed when you first turn on the device
So, stuff you need:
A CAB File
OSKitchen Setup
OK, so you need to use OSKitchen to generate a EXT package, for this we use the package converter, so, you need to click this button:
This brings up this window
You need to select "CAB Installer File / HTC ROM Hotfix" and fill in the boxs with the relevant information. Your window should look like this (But with a different CAB)
Now you need to click "Convert", it will now make a copy of the CAB, extract the files and REG keys, and will extract them and lay them out in a folder that can be cooked in. You should be presented with this popup bubble after a few seconds
Click OK, then go and check your EXT folder, and you should find your EXT
You have converted your CAB!
Customising
Reserved 5
Adding New SYS Bulids
So Da_G, Tom_Codon or Andrew_SH have released a new build, AND YOU WANT IT, you need to be able to port, so, this post will show you how to do that
So, what you need:
OSKitchen
A Build from The Chef Central release thread (Andrew_SH), Da_G Porting thread or Tom_Codon @ HTCPedia
So, depending where you got your build from, you have to select the correct Dump layout. Andrew uses a ErviusVK Dump, Tom has HTCPedia Dump and Da_G Has a XDA Rollup. These Pics were made with OSKitchen 1.26, so the ErciusVK Dump option is missing, but the principles are the same.
So, open up the EXE in "Import", it's called "Import a new Windows Mobile build", you will get this window:
Fill it in
When you click "Start Importing", the window changes to this:
When the process is complete, this popup window will apear
Click OK
You Have Imported A New Build :-D
Acknowledgements And Disclaimer

4. You - That is if you posted some feedback, good or bad, just say how i could make this better!
5. CrisRowlands - Thanks for writing a Article on 1800PocketPC about this TUT
Disclaimer:
I have to put this here, however boring it may seem. I am not responsible if you brick your phone or damage any of your equipment in anyway, in the event that you do, please post in this thread and I will help you as much as I can. HTC phones ARE VERY HARD TO COMPLETLEY BRICK, you would almost have to try and brick it to brick it.
Thanks

This kitchen is very simple. But i can't understand, how can i use another mui? I create folder 0419 and place here all resources. Then in kitchen I choose language and evrything seems OK, but when ROM boot, only top taskbar appare. And nothing else happen.
With English OEM evrything OK. So, what can i missed?
BTW, how to add no2chem kernel in this kitchen?
Sorry for my English.
i guess you need to ask in the old kitchen thread tutorial... or if you have this new one wait for the guy to finish
this is a brill idea, both for noobs and old hands
If I can offer any help let me know

I have a couple of issues with this thread.
1. Donations on XDA are NOT "compulsory". Please remove that line from your list of requirements.
EDIT: Done
2. Please refrain from using HUGE fonts in your posts. A smaller font will get the point across just fine, just use common sense.
Thanks for doing that
3. The post where you explain what the "other meaningful words" are... please research what they actually mean, before posting an official tutorial on their use. Examples: "XIP - I have no idea, but it doesn't work without them" and "ROM - The device's HDD" are not acceptable.
Doing those now, Done
Good luck and let's hope this turns into a nice tutorial.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to a great, pictorial, step-by-step guide on how to create your own ROMs.
Now, I need some advice please. When I use the osKitchen Import Wizard to import the official ROM I get this error:

Test on ELL ROM ver ALL OK
until now...
got the same error as af974 (dumped fresh Leo s 3.14 ship rom and change any options, non implant xip method)
however what a dramatic increase in build process..
took 3 minutes to reach to the imgfs from dump part while it usually takes 10-20 mins on this busted up laptop..
Cool...i thought i was the only one with this problem
Now it would be interesting know how come that Sternas did get the error.

It also works without even launching it. Just drag n' drop a file on the XrMeLg.exe and have it converted!

In cli you can have a file converted by typing :
Code:
XrMeLg.exe %file%
Command line usage to convert all provxml files at a given path to reg files:
Code:
XrMeLg.exe r:%path_to_look_for_provxml_files%
The application automatically does a backup of the processed file(s) inside a folder named "Files" in the directory where it is located.

Great Tools, Thank you for sharing.
hey,
very nice tool, thx for sharing.
Now the BUT part or maybe just a hint..
I have converted regkeys to provxml where some registry keys should be removed. But your converter wont translate it to provxml. The reg entries will be just skipped.
Example: [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Kamera.lnk]
Usually this would remove the key, but the converter skipps this part.
greetz,
greg
Thanks guys for testing this.
I made a typo in the string that the application searches and instead of
[-HKEY_...
I had
-[HKEY_...
Thank you Greg for noticing it
v.1.2.0.0 attached at 1st post is a revised version of the app to fix this issue.
Regards!
Thanks for the update!
Haven't tried yet, but I cook a lot so it will be useful later for sure
thanx for the update. Now this is working great!
Ye typos, the first place i take a look on if something goes wrong with my stuff

Hi,
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
The switch is r: NOT :r.
I will correct the 1st post.
So if you type:
Code:
XrMeLg.exe r:C:\BlaBlaBla\someFolder
it will work but don't expect any console output!
Just check the Files folder and you should find the reg files there.
Regards!
Thanks for sharing this tool

I'm glad to give something back (even this small).
I've found a little bug regarding provxml --> reg usage, so there is an updated version @ 1st post.
Regards!
Thanks, I will try this.
Great work, as usual from you! I don't think I would have learned to cook roms without your kitchen either!
I think I was using CeRegEditor to do the conversions before, but this looks way more convenient to use. You may want to compare.
Very useful tool, thanks for sharing!
Hi,

Hi,
for some reasons I often need to convert a bulk of REG-files to PROVXML-files. Hence my question: Can you provide a version of your tool that offers a related command line parameter, ex. '"p" instead of "r"?
THX for reading.

[SOLVED]How to cook end key replacement

Hello to all.
I'm wondering if you can help me to cook end key replacement by jochos.
Thanks a lot
Which kind of help do you need?
Just grab the cab and convert it in EXT then cook it after the stock Htc endkey.
EDIT: LongEndPress key stock can be deselected from your kitchen.

Did you cook in the skins? (it's necessary) If I remember me correctly; the default place of the skins (zip file) is "\Program Files\EndKeySkins\
the other files (.exe and .mcr) are located into \Windows.
Don't forget to build in all the needed Reg-Keys.
Ps; if you will build it in; you need to also to build in one theme into \Windows together with his Reg_key's. Normally the setup of the cab will do this. but now you need to build it in manually.
Do i have to add something special in my reg file?(i have it attached).
How can i choose one skin by default?

So Kurt, I see what you did with your package and yes, it does work so that Quick Endkey is up and running at boot up. The only problem is that with your package and even my own when I mimic yours is that when I tap the top left corner of the screen to change the theme I get these errors for every .brn file that you have already unzipped in your 0409 files.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The only that does not give this error is the "wifi" option. I'm assuming it's because the wifi.brn file is not already unzipped with the rest.
It sort of seems like the problem is that it's not able to overwrite those files. Or that it thinks it cannot. Even though I get an error for every .brn file it's trying to use, the theme will change correctly.
Any thoughts on how to fix these error messages?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Okay, I will take a look on it tomorrow.
But some questions;
1) did you change anything on the zip file?
2) are the zip file present?
Edit; on the first look I don't see directly the problem.
other languages
Hello.
Is there something special that i have to do in order to cook it in different languages except by changing the file "strings"?
Thanks a lot

just make a folder from your language (ex 0413 = NLD, don't know how it is for Greek) and set the zip files for that language, also the needed .brn files and put the translated strings file also in these folder.
Ow, just forget to mention, the strings file need to be saved as Unicode (probably you know that.)
