How to Remove bootlodders - Galaxy 3 General

I've read that we should remove bootlodders before using odin.
I read that its possible with cygwin or something in linux but not with windows...
So, is it possible?
I've installed to many times with odin without remowing bootloaders...
May this cause damage to phone?
I've battery problem even with a new battery...
May this a reason?

No. After u flash a new rom without bootloader, u don't have a bootloader anymore
Sent from my GT-i9003 powered by MIUI

But I have bootloaders in .tar.
And my zh...(asian stock) is not a single tar file...
Can u tell me about total commander or other?

You can use total commander to remove sbl.bin and boot.bin(or something like that) that way there's no boot loader in the single tar file. If its not single, just don't place the bootloader file in the section in Odin.

Ddjp6 or jpu?
Or any other?

Flash your phone using ODIN.
You can get your firmware from samfirmware.com You will need to register with them.
It's upto you what firmware to use, maybe try I5801ZFJPE Thats a Asia firmware, or I5800XXJPM Thats Europe
All the flash programs are on samfirmware.com
Hope this helps
After Rooting the warranty of the phone is void...right??
And I downloaded the ZFJPE firmware but I think it doesnot contain all the files needed by ODIN...as in I couldn't find the PHONE image...Need help in this
And Can I use the europe firmware in India???

Yes your warranty will be void.
follow this link for flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880
Goto youtube and look for rudolf895 videos. He has some good ones for flashing
Maybe best just flashing the India firmware.

I recommend you to flash the I5801DDJG6 from samfirmware..
That's the one that our fones came with.. It will work for sure!!
..and the file has to be loaded in "One Package" after checking the "One Package" Option..
..you will also have to load the OPS file provided by Samfirmware..
That's about it!!
Nothing to worry about!!
Amd by the way.. That is NOT a brick.. It's a semi-brick!! :-D
..and your warranty won't be void in case if you totally brick your fone!! ..I got mine fixed after having bricked my fone.. Didn't have to spend a dime!!
But, trust me.. You don't wanna brick your fone!! plus, the Service Center kept my fone with 'em for over 3 weeks!! X-(

Haha..
Good to know that I could help!!
..and No, your fone is still not rooted after the reflash.. If you want it rooted, you will have to root it again..
..and if you want to flash to Froyos now, first flash I5800XXJP8.. Then you'll be able to flash other ROMs like JPM with ease..
Or you can flash any other I5801 ROMs directly, I guess..
Can't provide the links since I am on my fone.. Search for those ROMs on samfirmware.com..
If you want a Custom ROM.. Try Lestatious!!

For rooting DDJG6.. There is a file somewhere.. Which I don't remember..
But I guess.. You'd prefer to have Froyo Custom ROMs, right??
You can find Lestatious in the Development Section of our Galaxy 3 forum..
For using that, you'll first have to flash
I5800XXJP8 -> I5800XXJPF/JPM -> Lestatious 1.2.6
And then update to 1.4.5..
And the flashing method is the same..
Except for updating to 1.4.5.. For that you have to run "Update-ROM.bat" provided in the thread and follow the instructions..!!
Not at all difficult, only time-consuming!! :-/

No you dont have to...you can just flash from DDJG6>lestatious 1.2.6 and then use the update.bat file for 1.4.5
For flashing from DDJG6 to lestatious 1.2.6 build use odin and for 1.4.5 use the update rom.bat file

It might work directly flashing to Lestatious 1.2.6 from your ROM.. Haven't tried it though.

yeah got 1.2.6 ..
Lestatious v2.0 (Current Build: 1.2.6) - Base ROM JPM - Will Wipe Your Phone!
but base rom given should be JPM...and mine is DDJG6...It wont create any problem na???
i haven't used lestatious, i myself prefer kyrillos's ROM (another custom rom)
download the file to check if u can flash directly from ur current rom
if the file u downloaded has multiple parts like csc (or)pda (or) Phone then u must flash first using the jpf firmware from samfirmware.com
if the file is a single file with any other name than specified above then u can flash directly from any rom
dont flash the bootloader and nothing serious can happen. Custom roms dont have it, some stock roms do some dont. check before. if its multiple package even if you get it you dont have to flash it (and you shouldt) but if its one package you have to check
well the file of lestatious i downloaded is a single .tar file
LestatiousROMv2.0(1.2.6.BUILD)
which has init the following contents
cache , datafs , factoryfs -> all this .rfs
modem.bin
zImage
Now from DDJG6 if I flash my piece clicking ONE PACKAGE in ODIN using the above .tar, will it go smoothly or will give me headache???
And also I should use the same OPS file which I used previously for flashing with DDJG6?

Regards,
I have this problem too...
I want back to Froyo for now, wich rom has inside the froyo bootloader ?
I've tryed the jpx but have infinite bootloop
I think that the problem was that inside haven't the bootloader and with the 2.3.3 version it's incompatible the 2.2.1 :-\
Please give me info about a rom wich include all and flash completely and working a froyo stock rom

I think your main problem is that you have to flash a rom with 3 files and with PIT-file with re-partition checked. Did you do that?
For bootloader JS8 originally have a bootloader in it.

Same problem
I tried all available ROM's

If you had 2.3.3 running and you can get to download mode, do not touch the bootloader or reparation. Just install 2.1 zimage and factoryfs with heimdall. If that gets you booted, go on and do modem.bin and csc.
It is very risky flashing boot loaders. Once you can get to download mode, do not repartition or change boot.bin or sbl.bin. All boot.bin and sbl.bin do is get you to download mode or load zimage.
The boot loop is caused by a zimage/factoryfs mismatch.
I use heimdall because it lets you flash individual files.
Darkstriker has the Dutch 2.2.1 XEN with bootloaders on his file mirror. I reverted back from 2.3.3 to 2.2.1 because I'd rather wait for the official update as there is in fact not much difference between the two of it if you just want the stock ROM.
You can find the link to his mirror at the end of everyone of his post in the thread: " [HOWTO] [REF] [FAQ] [Guides] [Tutorials] Flash/Root/ADB/ROM [MUST READ!]".
Search the original firmware from January 2011 and flash it with Odin. It'll revert with bootlaoders and then you can re-flash the froyo version you want.
ezrom has bootloaders and is 2.2.1
Use the JPU rom: has the bootloaders.
However, to know if a rom has a bootloader, you should find low in the file name of the PDA.
"I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar"
After flashing JPU, you can update the phone to your favourite rom (JS8, for example)

Use Darky's Resurrection ROM - with this ROM you can easily revert to 2.2.1.
I want to downgrade my sgs from Gingerbread to Eclair, to have a fresh and new start.
I downloaded from samfirmware a eclair firmware. It includes:
- CODE_I9000XWJM1 (inside the file, there are a sbl.bin and a boot.bin file, does that mean that I have a bootloader for eclair?)
- CSC_I9000OXXJG7
- MODEM_I9000XXJG6
- s1_odin_20100512.pit
Are these files good?
Should I tick "update bootloaders" in odin?
I'm scared to do this because I don't want to brick my phone.

this is a firmware, that disables 3 button combo! stay away from it! and it is ages old. you should use jpu or js8 with bootloaders if you want to have a fresh start.
Avoid Eclair ROM, some have fu**ed SPL which disable the 3 touchs combo for Recovery and Download.

if you flashed jvb over kies, you will have the bootloaders. if you flashed the jvk leak with the sbl one in the end of the filename, you also have the bootloaders. the best way to check is, is to open the firmware's -which you flashed to get gingerbread- pda or code file with winrar and look for sbl.bin and boot.bin.
i am running on js8 stock with speedmod with jvb bootloaders as well.
it will neither give you something, nor take anything from you. they are completely backwards-compatible. if you can enter download mode, which you can, everything is fine.
a bootloop is a situation, during this the device will not boot, it will keep repeating the boot animation or will hang on galaxy s logo.

Guys I recently updated my SGN to ICS when I saw the update OTA. But ever since then my note is draining the battery like anything. I see a lot of threads and topics everywhere which is very confusing.
Basically I am planning to go back to GB which was stable.
I never rooted my cell simply using it the way it came from Samsung so please let me know how to do it as I have no idea about kernels and everything.
I am attaching the screenshot of my SGN's phone details please check and guide me what do I do.
Hope someone will help me soon.

That's not your csc. Csc is 3 letters such as xeu for uk. You can check your csc by typing the following into the dialpad:
*272*emeicode*# where emei code is obtainable via *#06# in dialer
When you have it go to Dr K's thread and download the latest gb for that csc. If there isn't one available there is an alternative, but try that first.

I tried the code you mentioned and it tells me that I have DBT
There is also another 6 options listed like CPW, ITV, KOR, XEF, XEO, XEU with Install and Cancel button at the bottom.

You're specific code is dbt, you have a multi csc installed which means you are able to select alternatives if desired, but best to stick with dbt

Need for help guys
First of all a big thanks to all the helpful members of the XDA
Secondly I need more help from you guys.
As I posted earlier I want to go back to GB from ICS as I see LPY kernels are not safe plus ICS draining my battery.
My phone details
Baseband version:
N7000XXLPT
Kernel version:
3.0.15-N7000XXLPY-CL474507
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Fri May 4 04:49:06 KST 2012
Build number:
IML74K.XXLPY
CSC : DBT (my SGN happens to have multi-csc)
I don't even have a backup of my GB rom so cannot simply go back on my own so need your help.
Now the thing is as suggested by SpyderTracks I went to Dr. Ketan's thread but there are so many options which is really confusing me.
I searched there for GB rom matching my Phone's PDA and CSC but couldn't find anything except for ICS rom. So now can someone please suggest me what GB rom should I flash? If possible please share the links and steps here only please.:crying:
Also if I can root it later on.
Sorry if its bothering you pals but what to do I am helpless.

The lpy description in your pda relates to kernel version which is ics. If you look through Dr K's thread you'll see the roms are listed by kernel version and csc. The kernel version will obviously be different for gb such as kka (which is directly rootable). Also the gb roms are listed as directly rootable and not directly rootable.
So you can select any gb rom for dbt csc in the directly rootable section, stick it in the pda section of pc odin, and flash. It's easier than it sounds, just take your time with it. When it's flashed its worth rebooting into recovery (vol up, power, home) and do a full wipe.
Alternatively, a very kind soul packaged up some pre- rooted roms link here:

Help with XXLPY stock ICS

Hey guys,
So basically, i rooted using using a guide i found here on XDA, worked great, did it with CWM.zip and SU-Busybox-Installer.zip, Went real easy for a noob like me!
The problem ive got now, i dont seem to have a proper copy of CMW recovery installed, just the stock recovery.
This wouldnt be too much of a problem, however i read the follow :
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/insta...xy-note-on-xxlpy-ice-cream-sandwich-firmware/
This is worrying, it sounds to be more difficult to install a proper CMW recovery than it is too root on this build number : IML74K.XXLPY
Overall, all im aiming for this Kernel :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
And this ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716088
(Performance, stock rom with a little OC basically, if you know easier/better combinations, please link them!)
If any of u clever folk know where i can find me some idiot friendly information/links/guides to pull what (I think) is a mammoth task, please feel free to point me in the right way.
Thanks in advance, Sorry for what might seem like daft questions
Is downgrading to GB a must or can i just install a new ROM with mobile ODIN pro?
Its best so you can do a clean install
Its all in dr ketans thread, in sticky section of development

Nope, its all about csc, *272*youremeinumber#* in dialer
Baseband you mean modem? Modem doesnt matter anyway

What you should do is:
- Download a GB rom from SamMobile, Preferably a directly rootable one (i suggest KKA).
- Download ODIN
- Flash the GB Rom via Odin (open the rom in the PDA section), don't worry flashing an official rom wont raise your flash counter.
- Download the InitialCFRootFlasher.zip and this CF-Root Kernel.
- Extract the files (repeat for the zImage).
- Place the zImage file from the CF-Root kernel in the zImage folder from InitialRootFlasher.
- Start "not-rooted-yet.bat" and follow the instructions.
When finished you will have a rooted GB rom.
Next you would like to flash the ICS LPY Rom.
- Download the LPY ROM.
- Download the CF-Root Kernel.
- Extract the files (repeat for the zImage)
- Place both files on your SD card.
- Install MobileOdin.
- Install the Device Specific files.
- Press 'Open File' and select the LPY Rom.
- Press 'Kernel' and select the zImage.
- Enable EverRoot, SuperSU , Inject Mobile ODIN and Wipe Dalvic cache.
- Flash firmware.
When rebooted you will have a rooted LPY rom with CWM and busybox.
Dont mix the zImages up or else your screwed.
I do not take credit for this tutorial ,this is thanks to Chainfire and his hard work so if you like it, please donate to him.
Is it not necessary to download a GB rom one with a matching csc?

These CF-Root kernels are stock kernels modified by Chainfire. He pre-rooted the kernel and added CWM, BusyBox and SuperSU. These kernels are considered safe if you stick to the tutorial by the letter!!.
help!

Hey guys, followed by the book, cant even get past the initial setup screen, just crashes every application it tries to start as soon as i 'press the android', so im stuck at the moment, hopefully its not beyond rescue!
EDITED: So, i did a factory reset as i was already GB, works fine, flashed ICS LPY with mobile odin, got CWM and busybox, now its time to flash the custom ROM, which option in PC odin so i select for choosing the kernel zimage?
is it bootload/pda/phone or csc. according to the guide for the rom im interested in which is in my OP, i need to flash kernel FIRST
thanks so far guys, all the information has been correct and im almost done
One more thing though, the samsung keyboard is still typing null on key entry on this ICS also, is this something i should worry about? i prefer swiftkey either way!
Im now running a custom ROM and Kernel, scary stuff, but so much more comfortable with the process now, this is due to Lodi and Baz77, Many thanks to you both!
Its all my pleasure!
1 tip, don't wipe while in ICS...xD

+1,
You can with save kernel, however
always reboot recovery when on save kernel so you are on save kernel recovery should you wish to wipe, and share the knowledge!
