Chaning carrier name in RIL libraries - Blade General

Is there a possibility in ZTE Blade to change carrier name, which is reported by RIL libraries? My point is, that I am using Play as my home operator and on screen I see POL, not Play. Is it possible to change it?
I am not interested in permanent carrier custom name, becuse my operator is using national roaming, and I want to have possibility to know, to which operator I am already logged.
And second question - is there any way to change Phone Line Name? On my swedish card it is filled correctly with Comviq, but on my polish SIM card it is left blank. I think that if there is a possibility to change PLN, then I can choose in CM7 to use Phone Line Name as an carrier name.

Few Interesting Problems

Hello!
I'm having two interesting problems with my 8525 that has a hybrid ROM.
1) I'm trying to force the phone to show the operator names I have in RIL. I made registry change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ONSDisplayRule"=dword:00000000
And have all the operator names in the attached registry file inserted in the registry. However, it still overrides all those with "Cingular". Is there some way to force the phone to not show the network names off the SIM? I know it was possible on older phones like the MPx220.
2) I have tried a variety of ROMS, including the TYTN ROM and the network select options are all gone except for find network. On the Wizard, all the ROMS except the Cingular ROM let you manually select your network... I am not able to find a way to force this phone to do that with any of the ROMS out :/ I have also tried different radio stacks - it seems to affect everything. Does anybody know how to knock that out?
Thanks Everyone!
Where do you expect to see your custom operator name? AFAIK that registry change only affects the way the phone shows the current operator's name, e.g. in the pop-up window if you tap on the signal level icon.
Thats exactly where id like to see it posted, along with it showing up in the wireless today snapin. The more irritating part is having network select not show up... everything i tried above didnt yield and results

Problem with changing the Operator Name on upgraded 8525

I've been playing this weekend, first downgrading the ROM with 1.04 bootloader, so I could upgrade to the latest HTC x.35 ROM. Having done that and upgraded the radio to the latest version as well, I find I still have one issue.
I've combed through all the registry hacks and have flipped the right bits and entered the appropriate keys/strings and yet I can't get this phone to display anything but "ROGERS" (302720) on the today screen. I was successful changing the operator name on my HTC Herald before sending it off to a friend, but this unit will not cooperate.
Anyone have some hints on where else (obscure if necessary) I can look to make this thing display what I want?
I've never been able to do this either on the Hermes
I kinda think I'm missing the point here...but I got rid of most of my Cingular logos simply by simply downloading all the stuff in my 8525's \windows directory to my pc, and finding all the gif's, png's and jpg files that were Cingular logos. Then I loaded those graphics into photoshop and made transparent images of the same size and properties, saved them back using the original names, and reloaded them to the original locations on the 8525. Restart, and voila, no more Cingular branding.
Maybe this will work in your case?

No actually, this has nothing to do with the files on the phone, except that the tweak to change the Operator Name given the right registry value (302720) should work, but doesn't.
OK ... never mind. But I'm confused by what you're asking. You actually have Rogers branding on your Today Screen? Where does it appear?
Maybe this is something Cingular didn't implement? (Thankfully?)
Sorry I couldn't help. (wish there was an icon for "embarrassed"),
No, not branding, it's just displaying "Rogers" on the homescreen when I'd prefer to dictate what it displays.
Cruisin1966 - Rogers name is part of SimCard, you wan't change it.
Same was here - non VoiceStream (or current T-Mobile US) cards said VoiceStream (T-Mobile US), VoiceStream (T-Mobile US) cards said VStream (T-Mobile).
It is part of SIMcard and if your's OTA operator can change name as they want.
Hope this help
No disrespect intended, but please re-read my original post. I successfully changed the name displayed on the homescreen with the HTC Herald, and my question was why can't I changed the name displayed on this 8525.
Cruisin1966 - Question: Does Rogers has 3G network so your phone could log in there?

3G isn't available anywhere but around Toronto, as far as I know. Definitely not in/near Calgary, that much I do know.
Cruisin1966 - hmmm I thought that it might be OpName over UMTS but now it might be just imposible to change SIM directive in this model. I have the same problem with Cingular or T-Mobile.
Lets wait for official aku 3.3 and then we can go back to this discussion.

Changing the way it dials...

I did try to search using the search in terms of area codes and what not and didn't find anything. Here is my problem. I got the Touch HD in which i bought in HK last year. I brought it back with me to Canada in which in order to dial somebody's number u have to dial 604-123-4567 . 604 is the area code. So i default set the area code to 604.
However, now that i moved back to HK. the numbers are still showing up like it was in Canada so it becomes (111)1-234 because hk numbers go xxxx-xxxx with no area codes ( except when u dial internationally). Is there a way to change it? I remember changing it before but i don't know how..
I don't want my hk numbers showing up like 604 , it is hard to tell and very annoying. I removed the 604 from the area code already and set my phone to a hk cell phone provider.. I'm using a WM Dialer with WM 6.1..
I also have contacts that are both canada and hong kong.
Thanks

[Q] CallIDMatch equivalent in Android

It seems that the Android builds for HD2 have a caller ID matching problem for SMS. It's a common thing in Windows Mobile that is fixed in the registry by changing the CallIdMatch registry key to 7 or 6... depending on the number of digits in the phone number in your country.
Is there a way to modify that in Android?
For example, when I get a call from a saved phone number: 03123456, the contact name will display. However, when I get an SMS, it shows: +9613123456 (with country code) and the matching fails since Android is (probably) matching the last 8 digits instead of 7.
same problem
did u find a solution? i am having the same problem....
Are you running a sense rom? Which one(s)?
ya know, i didn't even realize until now caller ID doesn't even work on my hd2. either in winmo or in android. is that what your talking about?
example. when statefarm calls it will say statefarm. xxx-xxx-xxxx
mdeejay sense builds match +90 532 xxxxxxx sms numbers with 0 532 xxxxxxx contacts just fine? (our numbers have 7 digits + 3 digit city/operator code + two digit country code)
How many digits does your country numbers have? (try to seperate country and city/operator code please)
See /data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs/com.android.phone.preferences.xml file maybe you can do it from there. Or possibly another file from similar folder.
You usually need rootexplorer to see /data
Your file may also be missing some lines. http://www.multiupload.com/0AR37L1K9G This was used for other purpose but has additional lines that may be useful.

could you be more explicit... me too having this problem when receiving sms... could you plz help by explaning in a more simple way.... many thx
It wasn't an actual solution. Just a possible path to take for solving. I don't have the problem so I can't be more help. Sorry
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
This is actually common on HTC Sense based ROMS. I didn't find it on Nexus one. After some test I discovered that the phone matches the 8 numbers from right to left and not left to right.
If there is a way to modify it and make it match only the first 7 numbers from right to left, this will solve the problem.
Ideas?

new bug in sim with rom 3.14?

hi friends, now every thing is good with 3.14 rom , but since i flashed this rom, i have an issue of not able to save a contact to sim (space present........ capacity-250 no., used 175 no.)...the problem is that when i save a phone contact to sim, it takes 6-8 seconds and then displays-'0 contacts saved'....
when i go into sim manager, i see this problem: (eg: name of contact is pakure)
p/M.........9490xxxxxx
pa/M........9490xxxxxx
pak/M.......9490xxxxxx
paku/M......9490xxxxxx
pakur/M.....9490xxxxxx
pakure/M....9490xxxxxx
where M is mobile ......
but only the contact pakure/M is displayed in contacts window, but these multiple entries stay in sim manager even after multiple soft resets
any clues?
none has any similar problem copying a contact to sim card?

I will test it sir, and give you feedback. But honestly I never saved my contacts on SIM (less space)
EDIT
No sir just did a test on my device; lucky it was temporary on Stock ROM 3.14 but I don't see this issue/problem.
Ether I don't have a clou.
i'm just guessing here...but it might be an incompatibility with your ROM's language and/or your regional customizations and/or some language pack you may have installed...you're in india, correct?
the reason for this theory is the sample data you've provided, which seems to show that the device is making more entries in the sim than necessary, where each entry truncates the name by one letter. i guess people that are familiar with multilingual software development and the mess caused by "unicode" might understand my theory
