I did try to search using the search in terms of area codes and what not and didn't find anything. Here is my problem. I got the Touch HD in which i bought in HK last year. I brought it back with me to Canada in which in order to dial somebody's number u have to dial 604-123-4567 . 604 is the area code. So i default set the area code to 604.
However, now that i moved back to HK. the numbers are still showing up like it was in Canada so it becomes (111)1-234 because hk numbers go xxxx-xxxx with no area codes ( except when u dial internationally). Is there a way to change it? I remember changing it before but i don't know how..
I don't want my hk numbers showing up like 604 , it is hard to tell and very annoying. I removed the 604 from the area code already and set my phone to a hk cell phone provider.. I'm using a WM Dialer with WM 6.1..
I also have contacts that are both canada and hong kong.
Thanks

hi, recently after a rom change i am unable to call numbers starting with +1 but when i try to edit them and remove the +1 and try the call it works.. what could be wrong.. i tired to change the radio version and also played different rom s available but nothing seem to solve this issue... can some one help me with this pleasee
I'm not sure if this is the answer...but who is your carrier? Cingular/ATT has a International Dialing addon to your plan. Is it possible that this got removed somehow? If that isn't added you can't call Internationally..
I dunno though..just a guess.
I'm running Black Satin and +1...etc works fine for me.
my provider is rogers, toronto and i read that many others in the forum are not having any problem with rogers.. so i guess it must be my handset
... and How do You change the + International Dialing Code?
I have no troubles using the + dialing code, however, I travel constantly and find that many countries (Thailand, Australia, etc..) have competing companies for international dialing. Is there a way to change what the "+" means? Example: In Thailand the use of the "+" preceding the country code automatically replaces it with "001" which is the high priced CAT service. If I go in and change the "+" to "009" I save heaps of money on each call. How can I change this temporarily so when I leave here, I don't have to go back and once again replace the 009 with + ??? Any Ideas? Thanks!
well if ur with rogers you have no need to dail +1
if its long distance it will auto dail for you
mazdaspeed.. the problem is not that i want to use the +1 but many of my saved contacts have +1 before their no.
the best eg is when i save a new number from an incoming call it will have +1 before the no. and it saves like that..so the next time i save a no. i will have to edit it..
i found 1 more thig more interesting.... this +1 issue is only with calls that i make to local phones i mean in toronto and not to calls to usa
well i just tested on my phone and it works fine im using Shaps 3.54b

Hi,
I flashed my ROM to an english ROM with regional settings on English (United States). Is there a way to prevent Windows mobile from interpreting incoming phone calls as US phone numbers ?
I mean in France we have 10 digits numbers which we usually display by pairs of digits, i.e. 01 23 45 67 89. However when someone calls me, WM shows (012) 345-6789, which is annoying. Can I disable that formatting and just make it display 0123456789 ?
I didn't put France as a regional parameter because then the days are displayed in French (lundi, mardi, ...) while the rest of the OS is in English (how f'ing stupid is that ??).
Thanks for any help !
Anyone ?
What if you enter the numbers as +33xxxxxxx (+33 for France, of course) or something along those lines. Does that work? Having the "+" sign, might do the job.
In the regional settings you can adjust the format for each single element. So set it to "French" and then change the date format to your needs.

Does that affect the way phone numbers are displayed? I didn't think so, but maybe it does.

To be honest, I don't know I'm still waiting on my Touch HD, which is my first PocketPC with Windows Mobile Phone Edition, whereas my x51v just is a "normal" pocket pc.

I just looked at my Touch HD and I don't see that it would change the phone number display. I only see that you can change how other numbers, and decimals, and currencies are displayed.
Anyway, let's hope your HD gets there soon.
I always enter the phone numbers in the international form (+<country code><phone number>. For france it's +33 followed by the 9 digits of the phone number). That way, I don't care from where neither to where I'm calling, it always works fine.

This has always been a pain with WinMo, and I haven't seen any definitive answer yet. There is a lot of discussion about the problem on these forums and in other WinMo forums as well. Used to come up regularly in the Hermes forums and I think I posted the same question a year or more ago.
I think Google is your friend here, but it will probably take a lot of searching.
In the meantime, roll on WM7. (Lots of wishful thinking...)
hi, Friend "ZoZo2",
Change your regional settings From US to UK. I think your problem will be solved.
Is it possible to change the phone call format?
HD automatically takes the first 3 numbers and places it in () and the rest on the right. Our standard area code is 2 digits and 7 for the phone number.
(022) 484-484 where as it should be (02) 248-4484. I just want the last 7 digits to be group accordingly. as for the mobile numbers, it groups them accordingly, it would be better if i can format them, but if not, its ok.
have you tried going to... start->settings->System-> regional settings and changing it to your country?
thx, didnt know it was that simple. I thought it would change the language so i didn't want it. also our country was listed as English (Philippines) so I didn't get to see it when i checked the first time. It should've been country first then language.
it works no formatting but its better than having the separate ( )
awesome, glad i could be of help
i live in hongkong and i've set my region to USA on the phone. everything work good except the phone number format as it displays like (123)456-78. but i actually expect it to display like 12345678; with no bracket & minus sign. problem is if i set my region to hongkong, some apps like opera will then display in chinese menu! pls help, what i want is to have everything display in english yet phone number will display as 12345678 (with no bracket & minus), is there any registry hack or sort out there?
If you want that kind of phone number format then set it to UK.

Hi,
Im in the UK and have just recently imported an Atrix, one little thing that is bugging me is the number formating on the dialer and also how number from my phone book are displayed when making a call.
Is there any way to stop this dispalying the american format xxx-xxx-xxxxx and get rid of the dashes?
Thanks
can anybody help?
Since this is a north american phone, you might have more luck looking at a UK phone community and ask someone who also import phones.
I am curios, what format is the UK phone numbers?

Number in UK would be like:
(01224) XXXXXX
Dialing UK from US would look like:
011 44 1224 XXXXXX
Note: 01224 is Aberdeen, Scotland area code.........home for me!
Now I have 781 area code...............Boston area, my newer home!
