Best Guess: Ice Cream for I9100

This is a game thread with guessing...
Depending on Samsung Updates vs. Google Updates intervals, make a best guess for ICS to be officially released for SGS earliest... ICS will be available at October 19th, 2011...
Most close answer wins.
Bring it on...
---
My guess: November 14th, 2011
Reason: Samsung needs urgent update to get rid of court cases of Apple for these devices.
December, no earlier.
Emm, my guess is 03.2012 or later.

after they announced it and all other android phones will upgrade to ics on tuesday.
Well, according to Johnny Mathis, not until, The Twelth of Never ( and that's a long, long time.)
For India, I think we are not going to get it officially, because still we have not received update to 2.3.4 or 2.3.5.
You'll still be able to flash it if/when it ICS drops.
My guess: The same day it leaks here!

ROM coming soon on XDA....
That is fake. it's most likely a blue themed rom (lightening?) With ics launcher from the market

I'd say too it is a fake. Why he/she does not show the version number from settings as usually?

Gs 3

So I'm expecting my gs 3 on release day.
Just wondering though, how long after i9001 was released before root was done and rooms began appearing?
Just thinking ahead obviously

New Kies update.

Usually I've found after Kies updates there is a new firmware within a week, could this be a sign that they ready to release Jellybean for the Galaxy S3
Lets hope

if u read it it says there are announce on 29th not launch it and samsung did't mess up launch for ICS it was threads like this that got people going with unconfirmed dates
i dont mean they messed up the release date , they messed up the actual ics release for the noteit made it buggy and slow ..... hence why i have the s3 now
it says that it will be announced on the 29th and start rolling out after the event .. the event is usually mid afternoon so i expect that we will start getting it after that !!!
Closed.. this has been covered before!

Back on the update merry go round..!!

Dumped htc for saying an update would be released by certain time then waiting months...now with samsung they release an update in a couple of countries yet us in the UK still waiting a month later...? Why.??? Even my unlocked, unbranded note 2...!!!?????

I'm on the same bandwagon. Don't worry. Samsung is a lot faster with updates than HTC. So I think you've picked the right company, but the GENERAL rule of thumb is that you should buy a phone and be happy with the software it comes with, and don't expect it to be updated. Regardless, Unlocked N7100 from Germany DBT and still nothing. I bought it based on the Note 1 which ALWAYS got the updates FIRST from DBT. Now other countries have received their update and I haven't yet. Oh well. I'm still terribly happy with this phone and software! I can't say that the update will make it much better xD It's fantastic just the way it is, but I'm an update junky! haha. So just sit back and relax It'll come.

i love my GN2 but Samsung is a S**t company when it comes for updates, they never say anything what changes are made on Updates and they only do updates only in few countries which it barely sales the phone and not to the countries which they sold most
Tell me which phone manufacturer announce exactly when updates come? Moto is even worse based on ics update. When I got the phone it was mentioned all over the website promised ics update.
Then after almost a year they release a schedule for update which promises q1 2012.. End of q1 2012 came and all no update. A month later announced q2 2012. End of q2 came and gone. A month later the update finally came for me. At that time the is still many users without ics. Even today not all received their ics.
Btw the ics update made the phone laggy. Full reset removed the Laginess for a week or so before it came back. Don't tell me it's an app I instants because the only app installed then was line, whatsapp and tango. And mx player.
And this is supposed to be a ics phone. But quirks much better in gb.

In general, updates are delayed by carrier testing, so they can make sure it causes no issues on their network, but it takes even longer for unlocked/sim-free phones as they're tested on many more networks.
However I will say that if you're so adamant on getting updates ASAP you bought the wrong phone, the only phones you should look at for that are Nexus phones. Even those can have their updates significantly delayed by carrier testing though.

Root ur phone. Get official updated firmware. Flash with odin. Done. Whats so hard.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
My point was the fact that the official update was released in a few countries about a month ago and yet nothing in the UK..? And yet Samsung has already started going on about the next update to be released in jan/feb !! We need this one first please..!!!

I don't really buy that story. For carrier phones yes but what about international nonbranded phones?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I'd imagine that Samsung are doing a pilot release to a few countries first. If no major issues are reported then they release it to everyone else a short time later (like a month or so).
Makes sense really when you think about it, IMHO anyhow.
Btw waiting for the update here in Ireland too if it makes you feel any better
