Need a little help with my rom. - Kindle Fire General

I've gotten CM7 to build and boot but wifi doesn't work. I'm building right now using the new repos so hopefully that will fix it.
I'm also wanting to have the ics keyboard as the default keyboard, but when I put it in the system/app/ folder of my rom and flash it, I get force close errors until I go to system/app and install it from there and then it works until I reboot, and starts force closing again.
I also need to figure out how to change the stock theme in the theme engine to a different theme.

What launcher are you using? Did you try ADW or Launcher Pro? did you also load livewallpapers.apk?
I loaded livewallpapers.apk and the livewallapaerspicker.apk
I tried with Sense and sweeterhome
But I think I need to load the .SO files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647837
But I have to find a different SD card because I can't get into recovery mode with my 8gb sd card.
(I left my 2gb at home)
ADW gave me the same problem.
I was able to adb remount since I pushed your clean update
But now I am getting "out of memory" when I try to push the SO files.
So I guess I will have to do the push in restore mode.

Let me know if you can figure out a way to get it running in Sense. I still haven't gotten my Aria (due to show up on Monday), but the lack of wallpapers is the one thing I was disappointed with.
Well I have live wallpapers working on my aria right now in alternate launchers like adw and launcher pro.
Pulled the files from a custom rom that adds live wallpapers for legend then rebuilt them into a rom I'm working on stripped of at&t crap. Did not replace the rosie apk since at this time tha just crashed htc.launcher.
This is a fun little phone.

Hey Bob, did you find a way to fix the non-market apps toggle in settings? I am working on a modified spare parts type deal to do that now, but if you already have a fix, I am all ears. Funny, AT&T didn't like the name Liberty. How fitting that they chose not to use it.
we really should open an IRC channel
The real question is there a way to do Live Wallpapers & Sense at the same time.
I know I am being picky, but I want my tech the way I want my tech.

I havent even started looking into the Sense APK file yet but figure with live wallpapers working correctly i just got to figure out how to disable normal wallpapers in sense to make them work.

I havent worked at all on the market toggle, i figure since we can sideload the settings.db file and it works its very low on my care list. All i worked on today was stripping out what i didnt like and trying to make a nice clean rom that had all the default files i wanted in it (google voice, pandora, etc..). Just happened to also play with the live wallpapers and found it worked on the way home when i tried a new launcher.

Yes, Please and Thank You
Yeah all the files are on my work machine so I will do that in a bit later. Will put it into a zip able to be recovered into an existing rooted aria so anyone can add them.

Update file for adding LWP to Aria
6/28/10 - Updated to allow LWP in the Sense UI
* This assumes you have your phone rooted and have access to the Clockwork Mod to allow updating your phone with unsigned zip files *
1.) Put the file onto your SD Card in the root directory
2.) Access the Clockwork Mod
4.) install zip from sdcard (option 5)
5.) choose zip from sdcard (option 2)
6.) Click on the file you downloaded and put on your sdcard
6a.) If you run into an error when installing shut off your phone,, unplug it from the USB cable, then reboot it back into Clockwork Mod and start again from step 2
7.) Once done installing, go back one menu and reboot system
8.) Upon reboot you can now choose Live Wallpaper in the wallpaper options
*Issues*
The only issue that I know of at this time is you have to use the settings/personalize/lock screen wallpaper option in order to change the lockscreen wallpaper
If you have any issues let me know, I tested this on a fresh clean stock rom flash then updated to add in the LWP.
*Files*
Clean install of the LWP packages
Select this if you want to install the LWP on a clean install or install without any LWP
Update install of the LWP packages
Select this if you used the previous version with LauncherPro and Home Switcher. This will remove those packages and update to the Sense Enabled LWP.
Thanks! I just flashed it and it works great. There's Absolutely no loss with performance with it either.

* if this file downloads under a different name just rename it to aria-lwp.zip, first time using Mediafire *
Ok lets see if this works =)
1.) Put the aria-lwp.zip file onto your SD Card in the root directory
2.) Access the Clockwork Mod using the rooting methods in the how to root your aria thread
3.) Go to the Partitions Menu and select the first option (mount /system)
4.) Go back to the main menu and choose to install a zip file
5.) Choose the option to install a zip from the SD Card
6.) Click on the aria-lwp.zip file
7.) Once done installing, go back one menu and reboot system.
8.) Upon reboot the home menu should pop up asking you to choose which home menu to launch. Choose the LauncherPro option.
9.) Go into the wallpaper options and choose your live wallpaper, it should work with no issues.
10.) Set up your new launcher, refer to any Launcher Pro threads for more info on this nice replacement launcher.
At anytime you can use the home switcher program to go back to the HTC Sense launcher if you want to use that instead. Same with setting up which launcher is used by default when you press the home button.
If you have any issues let me know, I tested this on a fresh clean stock rom flash then updated to add in the LWP.

Any chance we'll ever get this working in Sense?
Well, that didn't work.
I am still getting force quit
I might needs to do a clean flash.
Ok, I got stock to run, but I also want to get rid of the lockscreen and make it default as well. Any ideas?
Ok, reflashed with the clean install and it worked.

(Q) Swype Beta

Does anyone have the exact method for installing Swype Beta on a stock based Rom (i.e. Iced Glacier)? I can't get it to install correctly at all.
Geoi1006 said:
But without further chit chat here's what I did:
Using Super Manager I:
1) Mounted the system as r/w.
2) Went into System» App» Deleted the swype.apk
3) went into System»lib» deleted the libswype file
4) Then followed normal install procedures as laid out in Swype Beta using the Swype Installer you receive when signing up for their beta.
It should be noted as with any system file you may or may not need later that its always smart to back up the stock Swype files for future restoring if needed.

yes, I currently running cyanogen I pulled the following from stock, or evil roms..
you ll need two files....
system/app/swype.apk
system/lib/libswypecore.so
Anytime I updated from cyanogen, I would still have swype but received the for close error, until I pulled the libswpecore
hope that helps
edit....think you want to download it from the swype site, enroll in the beta program and you should be good to go, may have to remove the above files to get the beta though
I got it figured out. I'm already enrolled in swype beta, thanks though. The question was how do I install swype beta on a stock based rom, Iced Glacier in this case, in which Swype is a system app(protected if you will). I got it figured out though. If anyone uses swype beta then they know that its much sexier than the stock Swype included lol. But without further chit chat here's what I did:
Using Super Manager I:
1) Mounted the system as r/w.
2) Went into System» App» Deleted the swype.apk
3) went into System»lib» deleted the libswype file

My lib was named libSwypeCore.so not libswype.so. Although that may be because I had / mounted rw but didn't actually delete the files first.
This was really terrifying. Swype is what makes the difference between me needing a phone with a keyboard or not. I find the poke&peck keyboards absolutely unusable.
But I was very envious of the mic button built into the keyboard because I've also found the voice recognition to be shockingly good. Historically I've found voice recognition software to be about 30% accurate and generally produced results one would expect from a slightly retarded monkey.
But I digress. These instructions worked perfectly and the new Swype is even cooler than the stock one.
Swype is an application I would pay a significant amount of money for. But free works too!
Glad to help man

And I hate the white keyboard swype is skinned with from the stock apk.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
i did this on my stock rom, and swype basically deactivates itself after the phone is rebooted. swype keyboard will come up, and peck-typing works, but the swyping function is disabled. i've seen this before when playing with swype hacks. it means it's not licensed properly. i removed swype.apk and libswypecore.so manually before doing this.
is yalls swyping functions still working properly after a phone reboot?
I have to select the android keyboard then reselect the swype keyboard on every reboot. I find this is necessary on sense based roms mostly.

So is there any way to get the beta version to properly recognize its license, so you don't have to manually switch away from, and then back to, the beta Swype keyboard after each reboot to get it to work correctly?
Like maybe there's some type of an auto-script that could be written to run on each boot that would select the stock keyboard and then re-select the Swype beta keyboard?
I thought swype comes preinstalled?

The beta version has the microphone button on the keyboard, which is why I want to use that one instead of the pre-installed one...

[Q] Question - how do I use stock Kindle keyboard on CM7?

Hello all, I would like to know if anyone has successfully reinstalled the stock Kindle keyboard after flashing CM7. I searched and didn't find any posts about this.
I have copied the apk to /system/app and set permissions to rw-r-r and owner/group to root, but when i try and install using package manager I keep getting installation failure, so obviously I am doing something wrong.
Any help is appreciated.

I'm actually running Miui but the key board was so small.i went and got the "slide it" keyboard its way bigger and a much better keyboard.

Wifi problem

Well anytime I use stock rom the wifi wont connect. And when I was unrooted it still wourent connect. Im using royal glacier n I like it but wifi cant connect, only when im close to the wifi router it does.but miui and sense roms connect perfectly and being far away. Ive use apps like wifi fix and stuff from market and still wont work. And I googled build prop wifi fix and dirent find answer. Ands its not the kernel cause ive used a stock rom with tdj kernel...so my question is how can I make it work? And my problem is only with stock roms. Any way with the build prop or an app or tweak? And it connects only when im next to router but disables when im more away. Thanks

Try these steps:
Restart the router by unplugging for 10 seconds and then powering it back on again. (I'm assuming it's not a router issue but sometimes this can simply be the cause)
This may be a bug in the ROM or an error during the installation, so I would re-download the ROM, verify the MD5 sum.
In CWM, backup the current ROM. Do a factory data reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache, go to mounts and storage and format /system. (this is to ensure there aren't any files lingering on the phone)
Flash the ROM, and after the flash wipe cache and dalvik cache (just in case.) Reboot.
If you're still experiencing WiFi issues it's most likely is a bug in the ROM and I would contact the developer of the ROM for a fix/workaround.
If you want to try, you can download the Kick Ass Kernelizer script by Zepplinrox found here:
Kick Ass Kernelizer RC7
After you have the script on your phone, install script manager from the market, err, play store
Navigate to the Kick Ass Kernelizer script and tap it. On the dialogue the pops up click 'run as root' and run the script.
Follow the on-screen instructions and choose if you want I/O tweaks.
After this, in order to make sure the script runs, there should be a log somewhere that would tell you
If it isn't running from your init.d folder you may have to navigate to your init.d folder at /system/etc/init.d
Find the script usually 98 something Kernelizer. Click it and select Run at boot as well as run as root. This should fix that issue if it's not running.
And if the kernel tweaks there don't help you, it's a bug. Contact the developer or switch to a different ROM
Wow thanks for all that help!

Problem solved!!!!

I need little help or better an guide.i will install gingerbread keyboard or ics keyboard app as system app,i have see it often in custom roms, but when i install it with rootexplorer/with aroma file manager or with system app installer it whant work.i have tested many different keyboard app with many different methods, but everytime when i choose it under settings-local and text it give me forceclose.
it where very nice when anyone say me how to make it,many thanx.....
edit:have solved the problem, its very easy.to make it work u must open the apk and look for the libfiles which u find under lib-armeabi,just cpy all libs to your rom under system/libs and set permission rw-r-r- rhan reboot, done.have tested with ics keyboard-kii keyboard-gingerbread keyboard, all from store and all was working.
Re: Question/need help for install Keyboard app as system app
Try setting right permissions..
rw-r--r--
Y = Check
N= No Check
Y~Y~N
Y~N~N
Y~N~N
thats a normal way for such things, anyway i doesnt work
Re: Question/need help for install Keyboard app as system app
I dont think installing by root explorer is good idea. You bettr install through normal installer.
It will install if it is supportd. Otherwise getting FC is normal cuz rom dosent support that keyboard. System app installer also does the same sort of thing you did so but automatically. But same FC will appear... even with link2sd.
If stock keyboard bothering you just deleat.
supporting is not the problem, the thing is that i have 4-5 custom roms with those keyboards installed in system,so it must work and i will known how.
problem solved, when need info just look in first post.
Great. That was also my solution when I install lmt launcher on my karbonn a30 I opened the apk and took out the appropriate libs.
