I have to restart ADW EX everytime I power off and power back on. For some reason it boots with the samll icons of the regular ADW that's come stock w/ CM7. Anyone else having this issue? I thought maybe if I changed the permissions it might help, but it didn't. Any ideas? Is there any way to uninstall the regular ADW? Thanks.
Rename or delete the ADW apk that is included with cm7. I have to do it everytime I put cm7 on a new device since I purchased EX.
Oh, and the problem lies in the ADW settings selection from cm7. When you go to ADW settings, it isn't changing settings for EX.

I just go in(via Root Explorer) to system and apps and just rename the ADW.apk? This will fix my problem?
Sweet!
Worked extremely well. Booted with my large icons. Thank you very much.

Or just move it to your SDCard, which is what I always do. I would imagine renaming, deleting, and moving all have the exact same effect. Once you move it just FC your ADW EX or reboot so you can get into its settings correctly.

It worked at first when I renamed it, then I had the same issues. I just moved the renamed ADW to SD and the ADW EX to system>app, hopefully this works.
I can confirm that the method described above fixed the issue for me

Please clarify as to which method of which you speak. I'm still getting this everytime I boot, small icons and f*cked up dock icons:
{

}
AND for some reason its booting to this ^^^ screen which is the screen to the right of my home screen and it has my market icon highlighted automatically as if I'm pressing it. Even though I went as far as renaming, then moving to sd, THEN eventually deleting the original ADW.apk all together. If I hit restart ADW in the adw settings, then it looks as it should, like so: http://imgur.com/cIMhy
But mI have to restart ADW every time i boot up
Now I'm getting stuck at the CM7 boot up screen the ring around the droid freezes. FML
Had to end up flashing a recovery backup. Reinstalled ADW EX in system>apps. Moved regular ADW to SD and I STILL get small icons. What gives? Do I need to change permissions?
These are the unaltered permissions for the regular CM7 ADW Launcher.
These are the unaltered permissions for ADW Launcher EX immediately after I sideload it to the SD.
Do I need to change the permissions to match that of the stock CM7 ADW launcher's?
hey...I've had no probs with ADW ex at all on any ROM especially MOST ESPECIALLY cm7. Its the most perfect launcher.

I do not move my ADW EX to system and I have none of these issues after deleting the cm7/standard ADW. This is working 100% for two Kindle Fires at my house as well as my ATRIX and three old Backflips that are also on CM7. One thing to note is that the ADW density hack never sticks for either of my KFs. I have to uncheck and recheck it after a reboot.

Has anyone tried to install the Helixlauncher or Helixlauncher2 app created for the Nexus One on their Desire? I'm curious because it seems the stock android 2.1 launcher2 from the Nexus One is removed from the Desire rom, and I really like the look of it and don't think I will use the Sense widgets anyway to save battery.

Yeah I know the 2.1 launcher was available in the preview devises like the one in the video, but this launcher is removed from the final device (see the launcher2 threads in the general Desire section).

It does't work that method any more when you try it just starts sense again they have taken the launcher out, Helixauncher2 app works nice from the market place i like how you can drag things either side of the all programs launcher.
If anyone wants to try these things and wants to change easy from one to the other so you can set one as default download home switcher from the market place then you can use which ever you like.
Home Switcher doesn't give me an option for default Android.
It will when you install helixlauncher 2.

Tried it for a day and it froze on me twice. Never had my Desire freeze on me before and i installed nothing else new so i'm putting it down to this. Removing!
This kills weather animation if you switch back to Sense, and seriously why would you buy HTC and not use Sense it is the best UI around and once rooted will be completely customised.
How ever on other android devices this would be a great app.

This works fine for me i been using Helix for 4 days now with no issues, if you install Helix 2 and home switcher when you launch home switcher you have a choice of using Helixlauncher2(stock 2.1 android like the Nexus) or Sense UI.
I switch between the 2 all the time and have had no problems with it at all, one day i might prefer sense the other nexus style just depends
In the picture below what i like with helixlauncher you can drag things either side of the launcher and they stay there as you move about the screens, which i like and it saves 4 icons on your main screen.

If any body knows if Helix Launcher & Home Switcher are uninstall-able & if after uninstall if leaves any ill-affect (as one of the post above says it destroys something in weather animation)...

Yes I'm not that slow. I guess its possibly conflicting with some sort of app or setting.
I have them both working side-by-side without a single quirk. Removed it first time so this is a typical reinstall.

Managed to reproduce the error again. Something to do with the screen rotation not sure what i did but once the text is stuck it requires a restart of Helix 2 or the phone.

I am having this issue too. I think it has something to do with using 3D apps like openGL games where the screen automatically rotates, because the Helix launcher is also 3D accelerated but then back in portrait mode.
This issue also exists with custom 2.1 roms on Hero when you use the Google gallery.
2 questions really:
1) How can I restore the Program Monitor widget? I've tried copying the .apk into /system/app from a couple of zips (eb13 stock deodexed, midNIGHT's removed apps) and then rebooting. It never shows up in the list of widgets to add.
2) Why was it removed? If there's a good reason, I'll sure miss it but will learn to live without it.
Thanks!

it was removed because it is considered "bloatware" ie, an unwanted stock application (i'm assuming). You can always download something from the market that is comparable, like the process monitor widget.
If you want the samsung program monitor you will need to be running TouchWiz or TouchWiz GTG. The widget will not work when using any other launcher.
To use it, just copy the SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk into the /system/app directory. Once you are running a TW launcher, it will appear in the widget list (even though the Samsung Widgets list will be gone, it will show in the regular widget list)

That's exactly what I was doing. Maybe it's an odex/deodex ish with the apk I have? How can I tell whether the apk is deodexed? (I'm assuming it needs to be for Bonsai?)
Go to the thread for the rom you are running and it should say there if it is odex or not.
As far as the effect it has, couldn't tell you that; I have always switched to GTG then moved the apk over and that's all it has ever required, though I only ran roms on DK28. EB13 shouldn't be any different though.
As far as the program monitor hold down on the home button and when the box showing your last six apps opened click on task.manager at the.bottom of it.

Thanks all for your help. I'm guessing that Bonsai 3.0.0 is de-odexed since a 2.5.x thread said that version was. I've tried both the EB13-stock-deodex-signed and v2.0.1_AppsRemoved zips (midNIGHT's) to no avail. Could there be a pre-req I'm missing?
Let me take one moment to give much props to the devs behind the Bonsai 3.0.0 ROM. They've got lightning in a bottle with this one. IMHO their ROM stands head and shoulders above the rest because installing their ROM will does not require a data wipe!. Seriously, I stayed stock because it took a lot of time to get to where I was really happy with my apps and settings and I didn't want to have to start over. You don't have to with Bonsai. Incredibly fast and stable. Hats off.
Use the sdx stock app removal app. Copy the program monitor app on your sd card in folder sdx/backup. Then open sdx app then go to manage back ups then scroll down and highlight samsung program monitor and press restore. Then it should be there if not re boot phone 1x and it will be there. I do it all the time with this same app and mms app. I hate the bubble messaging. Soooo gayyyy

Thanks for the SDX Removal app idea. It didn't work at the time but I've since updated to Bonsai 3.0.1 and SDX Removal hooked me right up.
This stupid little Program Monitor app probably uses a lot of battery but I don't care, cuz itsaves more than it burns. When it turns red I know something somewhere's using cpu so I fire up OS Monitor and kill that sucker.
Lol I flashed this rom and sdx app wouldn't restore program monitor for me I had to get a .zip of program monitor and flash it in cwm but I'm glad sdx worked for you.

I love the SMS preview on the bottom of the lockscreen of Sense ROMs.
Sadly, SkyRaider Sense 4.0 doesn't have this feature anymore. I love the ROM but I'm trying to find a workaround for it.
I've tried SMS Popup with Widgetlocker, which works, but I don't like getting popups when I'm using my phone, reading email, etc.
I just want a SMS preview of some sort on the lockscreen so I can quickly check to see the beginning of a text I receive without having to unlock my phone.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Much appreciated...
EDIT: I thought of a possible fix. Maybe I can find a widget which displays new, unread SMS messages? Then I can put it on my lockscreen using widgetlocker. Sound good? Any recommended widgets?
EDIT 2: Found a widget that works but....I'd rather not see my last SMS always on my lockscreen. ugh...there's gotta be a fix!! I just want the HTC lockscreen

Ya, I'm wondering if there's a way to just import the stock HTC lockscreen.
In Incredibly Re-Engineered, there were multiple lockscreens too and to restore the default, the dev said:
(Note: To enable the HTC Lockscreen, navigate to "system/app" using root explorer; Find "HtcLockscreen.bak" and rename it to "HtcLockscreen.apk" and then perform a Hot Restart)
Is there any way for us to port that HtcLockscreen.apk and get it to work on SkyRaider?

take the one from peanut just in case i'm not sure what the difference is between odex vs deodexed but i do know odex files are user smaller in size so try the peanut since skyraider 4 to my knowledge isn't odexed.
Alright, I'm going to try the one from Peanut. It's deodexed, and SkyRaider 4.0 is deodexed too. Both from the Nov. OTA. I'm just wondering if it will interfere with SR. Guess I'll find out soon.
Edit. Seems like SkyRaiders lock screen overrides it. Need to figure out how to remove it first.

Let me know if you have any luck with the HTC lockscreen.
I've been trying to get used to the CM7 style lockscreen in Skyraider and it's got some cool features that might make me stick with it.
Just wondering though...when I get a text, I'll get an SMS preview at the top in the notification bar, but unless I check my phone right away, I won't see the quick preview. Is there any way to have the preview at the top wait for me to unlock the phone before it goes away?
Yes, but it fails of course. Maybe ihtfp69 can release another feature add-on for the HTC lockscreen.

Try GO Launcher, it has swipe up/down also.
Only thing is it's not in the Market but you can side load it plus it's jsut not as good as ADW EX but that's just my opinion.
On the plus side it has gestures and you can resize widgets like the default launcher

Only if we could have ADW + Stock top (with the My Apps and + button)
that would be PERFECT.
From what I've read on the adw thread in the theme forum, the developer is working on being able to get rid of that top adw button and quite possibly even getting rid of that whole upper section too.
I tried Launcher pro and even optimized it but it still didn't feel as smooth and responsive as adw. I honestly think adw is perfect except for that top icon section.

To take screen shot you can use the native function.
Go into Settings>Screen>Click on the Screenshot box.
Now when you press and hold the Recent Apps key it will take a screenshot.

Tried that - settings didn't take. On the "manage devices" page, under Kindle Name my new desired device name is listed but it's not picking up on the device. any ideas?

I've used both (on the KF), and its hard to say. I like Go Launcher EX - well, just because. Its hard to explain these things, its like a favorite flavor of ice cream.
That said, Tested.com did a write up on the two, plus LauncherPro - you might want to check it out.*

Great I was waiting to see if someone used adwex yet. Got the girlfreind one for Xmas so I have to wait to play with it.
Throw the adwEX ICS theme on there!
I run CM7 ics theme and adwex ics theme on my atrix, about as close as you can get to the real thing for now anyway. No port for the atrix yet

How do weather widgets work when their is no GPS? Probably a dumb question.
If you set them with the location you want weather information for, yes.
If not, no.

Most weather apps have an option to use to use the internet to determin location, wont be exact but it will show the general area your in. Of course without an internet connection they wont update.

Go to your Kindle and hit Sync. It will update the name then. I think it's in settings somewhere.

ADW Launcher widget problems
Hi all,
I recently got the Kindle Fire version 10.2.3, and installed ADW Launcher for it. This worked fine, but then a few days after installing, one of my widgets stopped displaying. I tried to remove the widget and add it again, but after removing it I couldn't get it back. When I clicked on the "widget" button to add it, nothing happened.
I tried to remedy this by updating to ADW Ex, and everything else worked fine, but again, I cannot add or alter or do anything with widgets.
When I press down on the home screen and the options pop up, all of them work, except for 'widgets'. I can see the icon, but upon pressing it nothing happens.
I have deleted and reinstalled both ADW and ADW Ex several times, and always the same happens. I don't know what to do! It's really annoying because ADW seems to be the only launcher that works with this version of the Fire. But the widgets are a central function of the launcher and I want them to work!
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!
