I love the SMS preview on the bottom of the lockscreen of Sense ROMs.
Sadly, SkyRaider Sense 4.0 doesn't have this feature anymore. I love the ROM but I'm trying to find a workaround for it.
I've tried SMS Popup with Widgetlocker, which works, but I don't like getting popups when I'm using my phone, reading email, etc.
I just want a SMS preview of some sort on the lockscreen so I can quickly check to see the beginning of a text I receive without having to unlock my phone.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Much appreciated...
EDIT: I thought of a possible fix. Maybe I can find a widget which displays new, unread SMS messages? Then I can put it on my lockscreen using widgetlocker. Sound good? Any recommended widgets?
EDIT 2: Found a widget that works but....I'd rather not see my last SMS always on my lockscreen. ugh...there's gotta be a fix!! I just want the HTC lockscreen

I believe thats it. We need the HTC lockscreen back. The one in SkyRaider is from CM7. The HTC option is really just a skinned Lense style.

Ya, I'm wondering if there's a way to just import the stock HTC lockscreen.
In Incredibly Re-Engineered, there were multiple lockscreens too and to restore the default, the dev said:
(Note: To enable the HTC Lockscreen, navigate to "system/app" using root explorer; Find "HtcLockscreen.bak" and rename it to "HtcLockscreen.apk" and then perform a Hot Restart)
Is there any way for us to port that HtcLockscreen.apk and get it to work on SkyRaider?

one thing you could try is to take the htclockscreen.apk from the stock rom somewere on these forums and putting it in skyraider 4.0 system/app.

I got htclockscreen.apk from Nothing Special, but I have the plain version, which is still odexed. So it also has htclockscreen.odex. Should I go get the one out of peanut (Deodexed)? Or does it matter?

take the one from peanut just in case i'm not sure what the difference is between odex vs deodexed but i do know odex files are user smaller in size so try the peanut since skyraider 4 to my knowledge isn't odexed.
Alright, I'm going to try the one from Peanut. It's deodexed, and SkyRaider 4.0 is deodexed too. Both from the Nov. OTA. I'm just wondering if it will interfere with SR. Guess I'll find out soon.
Edit. Seems like SkyRaiders lock screen overrides it. Need to figure out how to remove it first.

Let me know if you have any luck with the HTC lockscreen.
I've been trying to get used to the CM7 style lockscreen in Skyraider and it's got some cool features that might make me stick with it.
Just wondering though...when I get a text, I'll get an SMS preview at the top in the notification bar, but unless I check my phone right away, I won't see the quick preview. Is there any way to have the preview at the top wait for me to unlock the phone before it goes away?
Yes, but it fails of course. Maybe ihtfp69 can release another feature add-on for the HTC lockscreen.

can someone hook it up with the gsm htc clock apk

I get the impression he has a Motorola Droid, and wants the clock app from the Hero. However, since it's a widget, I'm not certain its as easy as just loading an APK, plus I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't be condoning running HTC apps on Motorola devices (and vice versa) as we may end up with another Cyanogen/Google like take down notice.

Dave

cool one, i like it
htc clock widget only works with sense framework. no sense, no clock widget, thats how simple it is. and no, you cant install it on cyanogen, as this has no Sense.
If u want the widget with animation, download SalsaSense RC2 over from dev forums. you can play around with that, but i cant guarantee that it will work for you. furthermore, there is in this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062962
thread a port from sense 3.0 for sense 2.1 GB roms, rosie 0.19 contains a htcClockWidget.apk with anim. though im not sure you'll get it running.

you mean similar to blackberry when a you can customize a sms, mms, calls, emails, IM, calendar events, and many more items will change colors you set? i tried to find something but didnt look hard enough. i used green for sms, purple for mms, blue for phone calls, light blue for emails, disco (rainbow) for google talk, and white for missed calls on my blackberry. i hope to find something later on because i have a long list of things to add to my phone haha.
Trackball alert may be what you could try.
thanks. i also forgot to say that after exploring my nexus weeks later i found out that mms and sms and google talk and gmail can be have custome ringtone because in settings i only found notification for all and ringtone so i figured each app couldnt have its own sound but i found it in the actuall settings for each app. i think i saw the trackball pulse on most also. took me a while to find it.

The only way to customize the trackball colors is to take the plunge and root! Think about it for a while...

Yes, rooted. I don't get any errors. I can open it up, change the settings (what apps I want to use it for and what colors, intervals etc) but there's a "Test Notification" button in each setting and when I click on it the trackball never lights up. And it clearly states when I first open the app that the stock Google roms do not work.

Damn, that sucks.
If Cyanogen was giving you issues, try out MCR (Modaco's non-desire ROM).
In answer to your original question, no, I don't think there is a way without a custom ROM.
Honestly, if I could just find an app that decreased the trackball flashing interval to somnething like 1 second on, 1 second off that would be great. I liked being able to look down at my phone and know right away if I have a notification because Cyanogenmod would make it flash really fast. Not so much with the stock rom.

2 questions really:
1) How can I restore the Program Monitor widget? I've tried copying the .apk into /system/app from a couple of zips (eb13 stock deodexed, midNIGHT's removed apps) and then rebooting. It never shows up in the list of widgets to add.
2) Why was it removed? If there's a good reason, I'll sure miss it but will learn to live without it.
Thanks!

it was removed because it is considered "bloatware" ie, an unwanted stock application (i'm assuming). You can always download something from the market that is comparable, like the process monitor widget.
If you want the samsung program monitor you will need to be running TouchWiz or TouchWiz GTG. The widget will not work when using any other launcher.
To use it, just copy the SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk into the /system/app directory. Once you are running a TW launcher, it will appear in the widget list (even though the Samsung Widgets list will be gone, it will show in the regular widget list)

That's exactly what I was doing. Maybe it's an odex/deodex ish with the apk I have? How can I tell whether the apk is deodexed? (I'm assuming it needs to be for Bonsai?)
Go to the thread for the rom you are running and it should say there if it is odex or not.
As far as the effect it has, couldn't tell you that; I have always switched to GTG then moved the apk over and that's all it has ever required, though I only ran roms on DK28. EB13 shouldn't be any different though.
As far as the program monitor hold down on the home button and when the box showing your last six apps opened click on task.manager at the.bottom of it.

Thanks all for your help. I'm guessing that Bonsai 3.0.0 is de-odexed since a 2.5.x thread said that version was. I've tried both the EB13-stock-deodex-signed and v2.0.1_AppsRemoved zips (midNIGHT's) to no avail. Could there be a pre-req I'm missing?
Let me take one moment to give much props to the devs behind the Bonsai 3.0.0 ROM. They've got lightning in a bottle with this one. IMHO their ROM stands head and shoulders above the rest because installing their ROM will does not require a data wipe!. Seriously, I stayed stock because it took a lot of time to get to where I was really happy with my apps and settings and I didn't want to have to start over. You don't have to with Bonsai. Incredibly fast and stable. Hats off.
Use the sdx stock app removal app. Copy the program monitor app on your sd card in folder sdx/backup. Then open sdx app then go to manage back ups then scroll down and highlight samsung program monitor and press restore. Then it should be there if not re boot phone 1x and it will be there. Thanks for the SDX Removal app idea. It didn't work at the time but I've since updated to Bonsai 3.0.1 and SDX Removal hooked me right up.
This stupid little Program Monitor app probably uses a lot of battery but I don't care, cuz itsaves more than it burns. When it turns red I know something somewhere's using cpu so I fire up OS Monitor and kill that sucker.
Lol I flashed this rom and sdx app wouldn't restore program monitor for me I had to get a .zip of program monitor and flash it in cwm but I'm glad sdx worked for you.

The posts made on the first page made it sound like the alarm was going off randomly/couldn't be turned off.
I have searched this and cannot get a solid answer, and I googled it, but its not talked about really except for incoming messages and I tried those fixes and it didn't work.

I tried the method of using the custom user agent, but it did not work, any ideas?

Can you be more specific on 'blurred'?
A screenshot would be very helpful in seeing exactly what it's doing.

Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
So outgoing picture messages are blurred?
Are they blurred when you look at them or do they get blurred when they reach the recipient?
Well when I load it into the message to be sent it looks fine. I then click send and it goes out. Then if I open it in the message to see what was sent it is blurred. And the person who recieves gets a blurry picture too. It has to have something to do with the messaging since it looks fine untilled it actually gets sent.

I've got 2 possible fixes.
1, your messaging program has a setting in it that reduces the size of your picture messages in order to use less data when sending or receiving. I can't begin to guess where to tell you to look in settings since I don't know what messaging program you are using. But that's my best guess.
2, your messaging program is fubar for some reason so try a different message program.
hmmm... Well I did look around a bit in the messaging program to try and find any setting that would reduce the size, but I didn't find anything, that's why I asked here hoping others would have had this problem as well.
Anyway thanks for trying!
Try another messaging app and see if that fixes it. Even if you hate the new app, if it fixes it you'll know the problem is in your messaging app.
I recommend Go SMS. But there's like 9 billion to choose from on the market. Most are free.
Or just try reflashing cm

If I back up with Titanium Backup and reflash then I can reload my phone to how it was before after I flash it, correct?
Yes, you can. You'll also want to save your ADW settings separately. There's an option in the ADW menu to backup settings. That'll bring your icons and widgets back to the right places on your screens, plus any other settings you have.
You don't need to remember where you saved it. The new copy of ADW will know where to look for it on the SD card.
Just be sure not to use Titanium Backup to replace your messaging app! I've done that before, where something couldn't be fixed so I reflashed the ROM, then promptly reinstalled the bad version of the app because I wasn't paying attention.
thank you!
It's a size/dimension restriction in the stock messaging app that causes your pictures to be sent blurry. I had to stay off CM7 for a few months because of that. Check out TDJ's new CM7.2 ROM/kang. He has fixed this issue by increasing the stock messasging app restrictions on size and dimensions, so they do not get compressed and blurry.

No, flashing just the kernel will not fix it. The settings are within the Messaging app itself , so you have to either pull the apk from TDJ's CM7.2 ROM and push it to yours, or flash the ROM. I advise you to just flash TDJ's ROM, it is fantastic.
