Can't flash radio, can't fix GPS - Wildfire General

So I've got this problem which is driving me nuts...
My GPS isn't working so I need to reflash the 19 radio and then the latest radio again.
I have CWM 4.x so I need to temporarily flash CWM 2.5.0.7 from within ROM manager.
After I do this I can flash the 19 radio (no errors here, everything looks fine) but after rebooting I see that I'm still with the latest (20) radio.
So basically flashing radios doesn't work so I can't fix my GPS...
What can I do? I really need my GPS working...
Any help is very appreciated, thanks a lot!

U have to downgrade ROM manager to 2.5v
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk

Yeah I know and that's what I've done. I used ROM manager to temporarily go back to CWM 2.5.0.7 and indeed I don't get any error when flashing the radio but at the next reboot I can see that the new radio hasn't actually been installed...
You mean I should go back to CWM 2.5.0.7 with unrevocked?
Thanks!
EDIT: I just realized you said to downgrade ROM manager and not CWM... how do I do that?

How are you flashing the radio? Its possible to do it in hboot

radio is to be generally flashed through cwm. But before that may I know which rom you are using ?

Indeed but if you have the file as an image you can take a HTC rom update.zip with all the stuff in it. Delete everything aside from the txt file, add the new radio if the one it came with is not the one you want then zipup and rename pc49img.zip boot to bootloader and it should do the rest
sent from my android powered. tank using xda premium B-)

I would surely agree to this.

Thanks guys for your help.
Do you care to elaborate on how to flash the radio via HBOOT?
I have the radio.zip file, I guess I can't simply rename it to PC49IMG.zip and put it on the root of the SD card, right? What do I need to do?
Step-by-step instructions are very welcome! ;D
Thanks!
EDIT: I use CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1 if that matters. Also: Revolutionary S-OFF | HBOOT 6.01.1002 | CWM 4.0.1.4

I hope you know how to go into recovery.
In recovery goto install from sd card. Then goto choose from sd card. Choose the required radio zip file and follow the instructions.

and to do it from hbooot. first download a ruu that has the radio that you want. then follow this giude to get out the rom.zip http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
after you get the rom.zip delete or remove all of the files aside from the radio and the android-info-txt file. rip up these files into a zip(make sure there not in a folder) and rename the zip pc49img.zip
then boot into hboot and allow it to do its business.
bear in mind the usual disclamers apply
you do it on your own head
good luck

Have you tried flashing a sense Rom, turning on gps and going outside to get a good fix on Google maps then without changing any settings reboot to recovery and restore a cm7 nandroid backup or flash a fresh install of cm7, the first time it happened to me I flashed the radio to fix it but the second time I lost gps on cm7 flashing a sense Rom fixed it.

Use rempuzzle and then do the steps as mentioned by Scratch..

Yeah even my gps wasnt working on nightly 256. i did the steps mentioned by scratch (rempuzzle) and now back to #256 with gps working.
remember do not switch off ur gps once u get a fix on sense rom.

i don't know why all this hastle for a minor problem like this. wipe everyrhing, installing another rom so that GPS works then wiping again to flash cm7? i hope you still didn't do this because i have this problem so often and the slolution is simple... ANDROID FLASHER! it takes you less than one minute to flash a radio. or anything (boot animations.....) and it works always. mail me if u have questions.

Just want to say, that I also had trouble flashing radio to fix GPS and when I found Android Flasher, I fixed the radio in very short time!
So I can also recommend trying Android Flasher. Very simple!

Thanks guys I solved by flashing Rempuzzle rom, enabling GPS and restoring CM7. Worked like a charm!

Mytouch 3g: Tried to flash updated radio, now its in a loop!

Hey, long time reader and modder and this is the 1st time I've had a problem with a Mytouch 3g, tried to flash the updated radio image (not allowed to post link as a I'm a new member)
But now it turns itself on and after 5 seconds it restarts again!
I'm running CM6 and I'm worried I may have screwed it (it's not my MT3G, it's my bros).
Tried to downgrade it back to the original radio but it isn't taking that either!
Please help!
What radio? 2.22.23.02 or whatever? (I'm on my phone lol). Have u tried full wipe and reflash everything?

johnson's way is probably the most practical. though you would lose everything (if you dont have a backup) its better than having a paperweight.

yeah that's the radioI flashed, and the radioI came from was the upgradeable radio mentioned in the upgraded radios thread (ends in 26i I believe). tried a full wipe and reflash and out its still getting stuck. I have the stock spl on the phone; could that be the problem?

he isn't so bothered about his data (I accidentally deleted all his data when I flashed cm6 )
I have stock spl on mine and didnt have any prob. updating radio. Maybe you should re-download radio and try full wipe and re-flash new download. What method did you use to do this to your phone? Have you tried any other roms? Did you make a nandroid backup when you rooted? What recovery are you using?
I have a mt3g rooted. Using amon ra 1.7.0 recovery. You want that one so get it if you dont have it. Wipe everything in recovery. Put the radio and rom on your sd card. Flash radio and reboot. See if it boots up as it should. If it does then go back into recovery and flash the rom.(Im using chromatic 4.2 based off cm6). See if it boots up as it should. Keep us informed

Have tried to redownload the radio 3 times - It says that is 8.77MB on the download but when viewing on my computer it says its 9.2MB on disk, is this normal?
Tried a full wipe before reflashing the CM6 and google add on, then restored the nandroid, all to no avail, will try the rom you stated as well as a 1.6 ROM to see if it's a problem with the ROM I'm using which doesn't like the updated radio.
I'm using Amon_Ra 1.6.2 (RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G) and have used it since I rooted the thing quite a while ago, should I update it to 1.7.0?
I'll let you know what happens.
You should update recovery absolutely. The Rom I am using isn't 1.6. Its 2.2 froyo. I'm not sure that's normal about dl size. What a weird issue. Try new Rom and get back with me

Right, I tried a totally different ROM which isn't based off CM6 and it loads and DOESNT reboot the phone over and over, however the android.process.acore wasn't working - this could be the actual ROM with the problem but I don't know - just about to try another ROM to see...
What Rom did u try? Did u try goin to terminal typing in su. Hit enter get# sign then type fix_permissions and see what happens?
Sent from my Chromatic Magic using XDA App
Right I tried a different ROM (couldn't find the chromatic ROM you are using, so I used FroyoRedux 1.6) and it is working perfectly - must have been the CM6 ROM which doesn't seem to agree with my phone/radio - even though this ROM is based off the CM nightly builds it seems to be working perfectly fine.
Thanks a lot for your help mate, you were a great help.
No problem. Glad u got it worked out. Chromatic 4.3 is in the g1 development section. I assume your phone took the radio img ok? Happy to help

[Q] Need helps installing new ROM :\

Hi guys,
so afew days ago my pc seemed to just turn off randomly as my phone was charging from it.. my pc still worked ok after some quick tinkering but my phone would no longer boot into the old modaco desire rom i had installed.
I figured it was a good time to find a froyo ROM instead and so i decided to get the eViL NXSense ROM. Last time it was much more easy for me to install since i had just unlocked and it all went smoothly, this time i put the ROM on my phone and tried to flash it and it just doesnt load, it sits on the 4 colored lines :\.
Can some1 help me and guide me how to install this and get it working, i really need my phone up n running.
Thanks in advance.
Link to the ROM i want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730290
i dunno. Ive only flashed cyan stuff. Are u running 2.2 or 2.1? Maybe u need to upgrade ur radio? Did you wipe?
+1. Did you wipe?

what problem are you facing? which recovery are you using?
Ok, i did wipe 1st, im using an old recovery which i used when i 1st flashed my old modaco ROM, cant remember what its called but it was up-to-date then.
I discovered i have more problems though. My PC doesnt seem to regocnize my phone, i can move files around using the fastboot fine, but activesync and such doesnt regocnize my phone :\.
How can i fix this since i guess this needs fixing before i can do much else?
:S sorry im a total noob at this rly feel kinda in the deep end.
Hmm.. I am sorry. I don't have any idea about that syncing problem. I hope other member may help you with that.. I am noob too..
Personally, i would start off dealing with the computer issues.
Find a program *win version* called usbdeview. UNINSTALL all drivers related too your phone.
Make sure you have at least the SDK/Tools folder.
Reboot your system.
Connect your phone and reinstall the drivers.
Activesync??? Ummm what's that needed for?? i used too use that app for Motorola phones.
Make sure you have at least the SDK/Tools folder.

When you install the android Software Development Kit (SDK), it should create a folder inside of it that is called "Tools".
For me, it is at C:/android-sdk/Tools. This is the folder that contains the magical fastboot and adb tools that you need to do anything devious with an android device.
Ok, then it seems i don't have it at all.. did a full search and cant find it.. i did format my pc around 3 months ago and dont think i ever really installed anything for my phone since i saw no need for it.
I've downloaded it now from the android website . All unzipped and ready to use.
Hi guys,
first sorry for my bad english.
I have a big problem to face with my N1
I wish to install a custom ROM, so I've rooted my phone and downloaded the Rom Manager apps from Market. I've flashed the clockwork recovery and downloaded the cyanogenmod. So I reboot my phone in fastboot mode, select recovery and now I have a black screen, nothing happens. My phone boot only when I take off the battery, so now I have no Recovery mode in my phone. Someone can help me please ?
My N1 is in FRF91 build, with a Vodafone ROM from France (SFR)
EDIT : I've already tryed to flash the original recovery and AmonRA recovery (1.7.0 and 1.8.0) from my PC but it fails everytime and I have this message => FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
You've opened a new post on this, also...

Ok, so a quick update/ask for more help. Thanks for the advice so far, it has all worked, i uninstalled all drivers, restarted, plugged in my phone and reinstalled the fastboot so now my pc is recognizing my phone at least.. i have the SDK/Tools ready for when i need them. I don't know whats next though, must i flash a new recovery image? if so where can i get this? Or must i 1st update to froyo?
As long as you have root why don't you download rom manager from the market place and use that to flash new roms? It'll update your recovery if needed. It is a well rounded, worth while app.

Update:
I used amon_ra's recovery 1.7.0 and managed to flash the old desire rom i was using before, but as i said.. i want to update to froyo and use eViL's NXSense 1.21.3 ROM, this requires a new Radio and Kernal i believe.
Can some1 please tell me how to install what i need to to use this rom?
here is a link to the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730290

why stuck on modaco??

hello all, i recently installed clockwork3.0 to try out the cm7 rom and did so. afer that i wanted to go back to cm6 but decided to try out a custom baked modaco in between. I went no problems to the modaco vision rom and then tried to go back to the cm6 and thats where i ran into the problem. It seems as if though all i can flash and boot now is the modaco vision and desire roms. i try enomther and cm and after the flash and reboot im always stuck at the HTC boot screen which i know shouldnt be there and cant format boot in cwork3.0 without failure error. Even a nandroid back to cm6 wont work. Im assuming this has something to do with the modaco rom writing some apps to /system during install. If anyone can point out my error or explain why this could happen it would be greatly appreciated. Thanke, veritasaequita
You need to flash back to the old ClockworkMod Recovery using fastboot? You have done that haven't you? CWM Recovery 3 is only for 2.3 roms atm afaik.
Cool, thanks for the input bro. Yes I sure have. I did see in the dev forum a thread titled install cw3.0 easily from phone. Is it possible to go back to the old cw by way of using the phone also? Once again thanks for your help
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
oh yeah, indeed you have hit upon something. Try installing ROM manager via the Market,... then use that to re-install the old recovery.
But if that fails,... then yes, you SHOULD be able to use a Terminal Emulator to flash without using fastboot commands.

cwm failure

I have CWM 3.0.0.5 and I am unable to load any new roms now. I do not know if this is a common occurrence but everytime I try to boot into recovery, I get a quick flash of the htc logo and it just keeps going to the bootloader. Is this happening to anyone else?
Not sure what is causing it but when I had that problem I first booted to the ROM I had and went copied the *.img file for clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 to /clockworkmod/download/mirror1.kanged.net/recoveries/ by mounting my Desire Z as a disk.
I found a copy here of that *.img file in these forums
There is no reason to flash cw3 like that anymore. You can simply do it on rom manager now. You can only flash roms that support clockwork mod 3.

Someone may need to correct me on this but at the top of my head there are certain ROMs that will not work properly with 3.0.0.5. You may need to downgrade it to 2.5.1.3.
Better clarify this first before going ahead.

GB ROMs from leak, help please

I tried to flash Xboarder 1.1.1 and RNK pure GB ROMs today. Both give me a barrage of FC messages after I flash with ROM manager. I've been able to restore to a good backup of my original rooted stock ROM so if they don't work no biggie, but I was hoping to try these out.
I had successfully flashed xboarder 1.0.1 last week, but had GPS issues so I restored to stock. I updated ROM manager recently and I'm curious if that's related. When I flash I check the new option to wipe dalvik cashe, clear data, and don't check the backup current rom because I have many redundant backups of that already.
Ideas anybody?

You have to fully wipe and reflash the rom. If you keep getting the force close msg try to redownload the rom, might be bad download

I would also recommend flashing directly from CWM and not from rom manager it has been known to cause issues for some people. And give the superwipe a try you can find in the dev forum.

What's the difference between rom manager and clockwork directly? Clockwork made rom manager, no? The two names are not interchangeable? how does one directly flash from clockwork then? Is that done from the recovery menu I get when I volume down + power the phone?

In theory, there should be no difference between flashing through rom manager and cwm and 90% of the time rom manager probably works. But on occasion it does cause issues for some people.
And yeah to get in to cwm hold power and volume down which put you in the boot loader menu. Then using the volume keys to highlight recovery then use the power button to select. Your phone will the boot in to cwm recovery.
