I just bought the Nook Simple Touch and rooted it. I got Amazon Kindle app on the Android. I have books that I have downloaded from the internet and converted them to .mobi and put them into the directories /books. The Kindle app does not see it on the device.
My question is can you take the downloaded books from pc to the touch and read it from the Amazon Kindle app. If so, do you have to create a new folder in the memory?
This is the memory in the device. Do i have to buy a MicroSD and put my books into that?
well if you connect your nook to your pc, you can copy your books to Files/books and then access the books once you disconnect the nook.
Or you can install Calibre, which will make the process easier. You'll not need an SD card if you are just planning on reading a few books (since nooks internal storage is 236MB only) But you will need an SD card if u want to root your nook
thank you a lot. is there a thread that asks why Alkido crashes whenever i insert the micro sd?

Hey all - I'm running CM7.0.3 on emmc on my Nook, and I love it. I've recently purchased an additional Nook Color for my girlfriend. She isn't so tech savvy, so I rooted her device to give her access to the market, etc., but left the stock B&N ROM on the Nook. I bought a 4gig SD card and used the size-agnostic installer from these forums to make a bootable CM7 SD card for her, since I know she wants the Netflix app, among others, that will not run on the stock ROM. If I boot from the SD card in MY Nook, and install gapps and Netflix, will those apps be installed to the CM7 SD card? Or will they be installed to the internal memory of MY device and not work in hers? I'd like to be able to prep the SD card before I give it to her so she can pop it in her Nook and be off and running. Thanks!
For Netflix, as an App it would normally load to your Nook's internal memory. However, you can change a setting in CM7 to load it to the uSD and then it should do so; or you can move it over manually. Not sure about the Gapps stuff though, it might be the same.
What is the type of sd card data, I mean i'm trying to sideload apps and can't use wifi, so i want directly put sd card data (Additional app or game data that need to be downloaded ) . But many sites only offer sd card data for Samsung tab or htc desire e.t.c, Which type can i use it for kindle firE?
There is no SD card in the Fire. You'll have to use a USB cable to sideload apps.

He's talking about side loading the app data and wants to know which device data he should be looking for, not what type of SDCard.
Hey there im new here on XDA but I was wondering if its possible to run Apps through stickmount using my flash drive or would I need an SD card + adapter to be able to run apps directly. Also gameloft games download an additional 2GB or so depending on the game would this download to the flash drive and be playable from the drive itself or would I need an SD card reader + SD card in order for it to work on my nexus 7 that I preordered.
editff-topic I also wanted someone to direct me on how to add a custom signature to my posts here on XDA. Thanks
Bump
anyone?
You cannot run apps through stickmount. it is only for accessing data media and other types.
all apps and app data must be on the internal memory.
Card reader
Thanks but you can run apps from an SD card. If I used my OTG cable with a SD card reader attached with a 16GB sd card will I be able to store and use my apps from there in my Nexus 7?

No, it's not a "True" SD Card, it still acts like a flash drive.

So essentially no way of running apps from outside flash storage what so ever? Just movies, pictures and files?
Right.

correct.
The internal memory setup emulates an sd card by adding an /sdcard directory.
there is no way to have another directory with that name and all apps are coded to store their information in the /sdcard directory. doing it any other way would break the app for all devices.
i can sure understand why you'd want to do that, but basically it's not possible.
best thing i can recommend is to keep all of your videos on external storage since those are the largest files you'll have.

Just thinking out loud here, but is it possible to rename the internal SD directory? I'm guessing no being that something so conceivably simple hasn't already been done.

Since you are already rooted you could always try this app it may give you the results you require. Bearing in mind that this was originally developed for the S2.

SD cards are too slow to run graphic intensive games (especially THD or Gameloft)
I'm about exhausted looking for a solution. 1st the Nooter steps don't work, the NC boots into original system.
No matter what steps I follow nothing causes the NC to read the SD card. At this point I'm totally confused.
Here's what I've done:
1) format the SD card, title "boot"
2) Using Win32DiskImager Iinstall "generic-sdcard-v1.3-CM7-9-10-10.1-10.2-11-largest-Rev8c.img" which gives me a list of files on the SD card
.android_secure
Android
B&N Downloads
getjar
LOST.DIR
MyFiles
MLO
u-boot.bin
uImage
uRamDisk
3) Then I copy
CM-11-20160523-NIGHTLY-encore.ZIP
and
open_gapps-arm-4.4-nano-20160603.ZIP
to the SD card.
(What is the purpose of CM-11-20160523-NIGHTLY-encore-recovery.img? Am I suppose to change the name to just recovery.img? that doesn't help the situation.)
4) eject the SD card, insert into NC, connect the NC to the computer via the charging cable.
5) Result is boot of NC into original operating system as always.
What the H am I doing wrong?

Are you sure you have a Nook Color? You could have a Nook Tablet. A Nook Color has a black bezel and the Nook Tablet has a silver bezel. These files will not work on a Nook Tablet.

I purchased a new Fire HD 10, 9th edition, with 32GB of internal storage. I wanted to expand that so I purchased and added a new SanDisk 16GB card. All went according to plan and data and apps moved to the card. But after seeing it quickly filling up I purchased a new 32GB card. I turned off the Fire and removed the 16GB, then popped in the 32GB card. The Fire formatted the new card. It should be an easy process, but for some reason I'm unable to move data and apps to a new micro card. The option to move apps to new card is now greyed out. Also, neither card is now recognizable in any other device. What did I do wrong and how do I correct this? Thank you.
Did you take the card out while the apps you moved to it where still there? Or did you go through the procedure needed to move or delete the apps off before removing the card? There is a way in Settings.
You may have just screwed your tablet. The OS still thinks apps are on the SD card, but they aren't anymore.
You did the very thing most people use as a reason NOT to install apps on the SD card. It's too easy to just take out and mess up the system.
When apps are moved to the card, not everything goes there. Part of every app is still in system memory - it's the part that lets the OS know it's there. Then it looks to the SD to run it when you access it. Now, you've lost that connection as the OS still thinks those app are installed, but can't run anymore.
Wanting to move over apps to the SD card does have legitimate value, especially for devices with limited on-board memory, but one must know the risks, and how to handle it.
Yeah, I shut down the Fire and removed the 16GB card, assuming is was safe to do so since it was off. Then I inserted the 32GB card but it's not working. I'm assuming I'm looking at a factory reset, (not a big deal on a one week new unit), and then installing the SD.
Does the Fire use a unique file system? I ask because neither card is being recognized by my PC when I tried to format them. They are likely hosed?
When formatted as internal storage, the format is specific to Android. It can't be read in a PC. If formatted as portable, or external, it's in the Fat32 format that a PC can read easily. I don't know if the recent gen devices will format to eXFat. I know the 7th and 8th gen tablets don't.
Best use of an SD card is to format as external, keep all apps on internal memory, and store data - such as documents, photos, music, PDFs - all on the SD card. You can also set the tablet to download books, music and other media to the SD card, even while it's set as external.

Thanks for the insights, Joel. It's safe to assume, then, that the two SD cards in question here are now headed into the trash? I guess I'll factory reset and install a new SD card as external. Worse things have happened.
You can try the bigger card again after the reset. It might then give you the option again on how to format it.
