*** ICS 4.0 *** - XPERIA X8 General

Will we get ICS 4.0 and WHEN ??
As you can see a lot of phones have already ICS but our x8 doesn't have a good one. I knpw that we donnt have to ask for ETA's but it's a question that the most of X8 Community would like to have an answer

its upto developers(not sony ericsson) to port ics in x8

can our x8 support it? ( i am a new boy here )

50% yes and 50% no... Nobody can confirm.. we just HOPE that the devs can make it.
Hit the THANKS button if I helped!!

Android 4.0 ICS is already available for X8.
It is not free of bugs tho.
Just wait for Paul-xxx to finish it, he's a great dev.
When he will release custom kernel, many bugs will go away

well I don't think ics will be available for x8.........as we all know honeycomb lags a lot ... so ics. .. will be to much lag...
I ain't sure.
.
......... lets hope.Paul can port a light version for our x8/w8

just i hope that ics not comlete for x8!not posible

as we can see, ics support for tablet and phone... but honeycomb only work with tablet,, that why DEV not port honeycomb for our x8..
Percent to get ICS work for our x8 is higher than we dont get because only few bug we get.. camera, gsm, 2g and 3g i think normal bug because Gingerbread also bug in camera (only VGA) until doixanh and nobodyatall fix it... so,, just wait for ICS fully work.. paul said on 1 february, maybe he will release new version with no bug in microphone.. so just wait for it...

correct. on latest version of paul-xxx ICS rom camera not working wifi and 3G/2G. other things works normal. without animations and translations and of course nAa latest kernel

Refer to the development section for 4.0
Currently there is 2 active project is on where one required custom kernel while the other one does not.

maybe it's not that hard just it takes a lot of work
They have to rewrite libcamera cos they can't patch libcamera from stock sources. Thus, VGA for us until some genius rewrites/patches libcamera. And DDI, just let him try, it won't hurt. Besides, he's willing to spend time and effort so don't just act superior with your condescending and discouraging tone. Support those ppl who attempt to make a difference for ppl like us .
Froyobreads ROMs dont have VGA limit because they aren't Gingerbread/CM7 -> Froyobread based on CM6 (in CM6 camera have no limits).
Gingerbread have limits because devs schould edit ROM source to fix them. This is so dificult. We just waiting .

So are devs are working on it? i see the dev only developing froyo, also i know Froyobread is not VGA limited, it just a Froyo that customized to be like Gingerbread, but really, i hate the rom. I felt the rom has a minus point, but i can't find it.
DDI, if u said better use froyo, use by yourself! your post just make my mood low!

[q] htc hd2 ics full hwa?

okay so you might be aware that some time ago, qualcomm released ics binaries for hd2 which would enable full hwa. i appreciate that kernel development does take some time but can i get an approximate date of release or even just some feedback on the progress of enabling full hwa. its just that the n1 and htc desire have full hwa and i don't want our beloved HD2 to fall behind.
I may be wrong, but I think nobody is actually working on kernel HWA for the HD2... or at least there are no public informations about it...
Most HD2 kernel devs have moved to other devices seems...
what about Tytung? since his release of his cm9 rom v1.5, he seems to have gone off the map.
He said he is busy right now and have no time to dedicate to the HD2 development until (the end of?) april...
do you think that there is much hope for seeing hwa after Tytungs return?
I really don't know.. but I hope so... Tytung has the required skills and knowledge...
Let's wait and see...
I hope they will find a solution.
soon dorimanx is back on HD2 development.
he also wants to enable full hwa for cm9 Rom.
REALY?! How do you? did Dorimanx announce this and were??

search in xda for dorimanx HD2 kernel and Rom threat. they are developing. and hwa is near to working. just fine tuning.
HWA on ICS HD2 works now
just take a look here : HWA in action
YESSSSSSSS! HWA IS WORKING! i love the hd2 developers. thank u so much securecrt, Rick_1995, Dorimanx and Xylograph. i will beg my parents to donate to u all but i dunno if they will. (im only 14 and cannot donate myself ).
Cant wait for a release! Does anybody know, what will be the next step? When can we expect an implimantation for an ICS Rom?
... for me, it's better to wait patiently ... When everything is ready they will surely know us ...

hwa=Hardware acceleration. Like so things can run faster/smoother.
the new CM9 htcleo beta1 rom is amazing! gaming on it is superb. even games like gta 3! cant wait to see what the future of hd2 development has to offer.
Hardware acceleration is already out.
I cant boot my rom....it stucks at GOGOGO or at htc black and green screen. I think the hwa driver doesnt work very well in some htc hd2. Anyone with the same problem? I try to pool out the bat but it stays the same.

ROM Request Thread

Hi guys i am making a rom request thread for wildfire. I searched for this type of thread but it was not present for our wildfire buzz so i am making one. The purpose of this thread is allow users have their favourite rom on our small but powerful beast.
So feel free to request a rom.
Keep In Mind That
- Gingerbread/CM7 based Roms will be fully stable
- Ice cream sandwich/CM9 based roms will have some issues (NO youtube HQ video, No native video recording, No panorama camera)
- Jellybean/CM10 based roms can now be ported. They will have no native camera and camcorder and other minor bugs. Dont complain if they are laggy.
- Dont ask for roms already present for wildfire
- For best compatiblity look for a rom designed for a phone with below specs
- QVGA (240 x 320) resolution
- Arm v6
- LDPI ( Low pixel density)
- Roms from high end phones can also be ported to wildfire but they need alot of resizing and fixing so expect bugs.
List of phones that are best to port roms to wildfire
- samsung galaxy mini
- samsung galaxy fit
- lg optimus me
- htc tatoo
- sony ericsson xperia x10 mini
- sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro (not sure about this because it has a hardware qwerty keyboard)
Searching for more phones
Thanks, now lets get started
Any wp7 rom ?

So please learn to respect others.

htc explorer is 320×480,that's mdpi not ldpi. And it has an armv7 professor, unlike our armv6..so it would be pretty hard and time consuming to port those roms but certainly not impossible.
Yes!
I just asked myself why someone not make a rom that is ugly ugly ugly (ok not really) But actually not much good looking but speedy
anyway...
I dont like roms that are based on stable cm 7.2 coz of sound bug that obviously no one experiencing except me, i dont even try those rom coz i know how its gonna be
My mainly problem with roms is that ppl try to make it good looking and not so fast. I like very simple, not fully minimal look but close to it.
It can look like that word with four letters, first is "S" and last is "T" you know... if its fast and stable, im satisfied
And my problem also is that im a bit crazy, i dont like waiting when launching apps lol which is very slow on wildfire.
So, rom i would like to see is, based on CM7 2013 nightly, Have included app2sd script, so no need for link2sd, and also can have as optional (or not ) script or how you call it... ram compache... SWAP partition on SD card like i dont know 500 or 250mb... (Actually it is my latest discovery... ok ill explain. I read some things about swap, and that other things, how someone use it others dont, there is no difference etc. So i decided to try it with "ROEHSOFT RAM-EXPANDER - ROOT" app. I gave about 450MB swap space, and it works. I launch application once and its there, much faster than launching it again and again because android kills it when im on low ram, of course. I heard that my SD card will not last much, i dont care SD cards are cheap these days. Still testing will open thread latter, maybe)
I forgot what i wanted to say actually...

look to port jb roms,we first need to have a working jb base rom.And we dont have any,so they can't be ported.
We are having various ics roms just because there's a source built cm9 by ErwinP.
so unless we have a a working base,we cant port roms.

look to port jb roms,we first need to have a working jb base rom.And we dont have any,so they can't be ported.
We are having various ics roms just because there's a source built cm9 by ErwinP.
so unless we have a a working base,we cant port roms.

Actually we have a jb rom compiled from source but it was last updated in july 2012. I think the developer stopped working on it.
Btw i am impressed by galaxy mini community. They have a fully working jb/CM10 rom but we dont even have fully stable cm9 rom.

Now you are being hard on our devs.
Remember mate, that we don't have a gpu and mini has it !
If we had a gpu,we would have got many more things than we have now.And cm9 working almost perfectly on our gpu less device is nothing less than a miracle !

I think wildfire was made mainly for camera use etc. Not for gaming etc though
Anyways it has a fantastic camera . 5MP CAMERA, ways better than other smartphones. Also don't forget that its a budget phone.

CM 7.2 port to Xperia SP

I want some starting tutorial to help me port cm7.2 to xperia sp...
Don't ask why, for me gingerbread is the best version of android...
I would love to see SP hardware running gingerbread
It would be pointless to port Gingerbread to the SP, it's almost five years old and most apps require ICS or Jelly Bean to actually work.

Look at this. Jelly Bean and KitKat have the most market share, why do you want to install an OS that's nearly five years old? How long do you think it will be until the apps you use stop supporting GB? I feel that developing GB for the SP would be a complete waste of time, you'd be better off just installing KK, which is fast, stable and will (probably) be around for a few years.
I think that CM9 should be better.
On my old SGS I9000 ICS works much better than GB c:
Good luck !
Gingerbread? Good Luck :good:

Guys, it's because gingerbread don't eat ram (nearly 70% ramfree) and his processing is fast , I don't care about compatibility...

Well google is your friend
i could find this link if it helps --
http://www.droidforums.net/threads/guide-how-to-build-your-own-rom-from-cm7-source.196475/
You can also contact other active developers like @Furrydaus and @Mrcl1450
and also there's a guide here by @Furrydaus --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/general/guide-how-to-build-android-source-code-t2991070
Hope it helps, Cheers!
1) There ain't source code for CM9
2) No one uses Gingerbread except for Legacy Users.
3) I actually have 10 Gingerbread Phones so don't think I don't know that its fast. I actually love the OS but its too old for the Xperia SP to run
I crown this "The Most Bizarre ROM Request for The Xperia SP"
