Rate your Arc Xperience - Xperia Arc General

I've owned an Xperia Arc for 6 months now and have made several modifications to it and on the whole I am very happy with phone.
Here is my spec:
Sony Xperia Arc
Arconium 6.1
Doom Kernel v18
Baseband .36 with libs
CPU Min/Max 134/1.4mhz
Governed: ondemandv2
Scheduler: bfq
This is an excellent setup and I recommend it highly
Well done to the very talented developers we are blessed to have.
Please share your Experience and any modifications you have undertaken.

Arconium 6.1, DooMKernel V18-FIX, Basebans .64, interactiveX, deadline, 134-1401Mhz
I like it

I am noticing a trend here.
I have tried both CM and Blend Miui, but I am finally happy on the following set up:
Arconium 6.1
DooMKernel v18
Baseband 36
CPU 134/1401
smartass v2
I/O bfq
In a word: superslick!
And, I think the reason so many people like stock is that SE make a pretty damn good rom that looks sweet with the bravia engine and is very functional with great widgets. As much as I love cyanogenmod, stock is just too good to switch...yet...let's wait and see for a stable cm9!

Arconium 6.1, Doomkernel v18.1, Smartass V2, apart from undervolted -100 haven't messed around with clocks and I/O. Oh yea V6 supercharged Sewell. Lag free + go launcher ex for some nice transitions and themes

Ditto, arconium 6.1, doomkernel 17, .62 bb, o/c @ 1.6, brazilianwax & noop, linux swap, juwe11s ram manager without lock home, link2sd with a 16gb class 10. I'm very happy :-D

Stock ROM .42 - as my bootloader is locked :-(
But... Baseband 36 with Iridakis corrections
V6 script too

Guys, is bfq the best I/O scheduler as you all use bfq?
In Antutu there's no difference between deadline and bfq.

I agree, the stock based roms are much better, without causing offence to any developers as they do an extraordinary job, but their work is done alongside regular jobs in most cases. Whereas SE pay people to do a job.
Hats off to all developers though who dedicate so much time an effort into these projects.

I love my arc, even more so that I'm able to install custom roms and kernels.

Slim ICS ROM. latest version, with Matr1x 18.5. I have the default scheduler. set at 200/1000 or 1200 with smartassV2. I use the supercharger script with option 5 and lag nullifier.
Other then that, I keep stuff running in the backround to a minimum. On the kernel, I use CFS, but if you are looking for gaming then try using the BFS version.
I just have unrooted nexus s with android 4.0.4 and it runs temple run with little to no lag also don't store it on SD card... makes it slower for some reason

It only lags if i have 3g or wifi on.weird.
•euroskanked with t®inity•
Check my signature. I have my phone Underclocked and I don't have lag or force closes.
I don't experience them with wifi or data on either. Although if you do it could be receiving data from the server or sending data to post your score or something. That would obviously slow it down.
There is only one thing you need to do to get rid of the lag, you don't have to go through the trouble of flashing a new ROM. Just go to your settings. Make sure it isn't on the SD card, move it to USB storage.
Although if you are switching ROMs and everything I'll give you some extra information. I forced GPU rendering. I have v6Supercharge script, option 5 + Nitrolagnullifier. Min free task killer takes 75 MB of RAM to itself. And I have every start-up tweak enabled.

Matr1x Kernel 18.5 was laggy and unstable. (tested with CNA, Slim, Brainmasters)

Special abilities of ICS kernels

Semaphore kernel:
Semaphore kernel is most overhead-free and low memoryprint kernel for ICS.
Because it has everything as modules. If you don't enable them from Semaphore Manager , they won't increase memory footprint. Even deep idle statistics.
Max OC step is 1000mhz but you can live overclock it to 1300mhz.
It has bm and normal version.
Glitch Kernel:
Overclock is a keyword for this kernel. It has too much steps for overclocking.
Best part is; when I overclock my phone 1580mhz with glitch kernel, my phone is still cold like 1000mhz.
MNICS kernel has 386mb RAM with 720p recording.
Midnight Kernel (Mnics):
Very daily kernel for average use. You can set up too much things with it's own manager.
Unlike other kernels, midnight kernel supports regular OC but not live OC.
No bm version.
Devil Kernel:
A kernel with lots of features and pretty nice for advenced users. You can set governor settings on NSTOOLS. It has 1400mhz step and live oc. This making it highly overclockable. It has selective oc to prevent live oc on low frequencies.
It has cm color and voodoo color - bm and normal version.
Which is faster?
God knows.
Which has more battery life?
God knows.
Which is best?
All are best depends on your needs.
Which kernel you are using?
Devil kernel for OC to 1600mhz.
I have bunch of android devices because of my family. Lots of kernels on too much devices.
We are so lucky. All of them are one of best kernels on XDA.

Yeah, Glitch kernel have been one of the best kernels for me to oc since cm7. I have heard that they try to port it to Nexus S also.
SGS has good kernels,you're right.

i also love glitch kernel because in cm7 it give the frequency upto 1800 mhz and in pics it gives up to 1500mhz

NEXUS S and the overclock

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my nexus s (i9023).
I've pretty much tried all the ROMs available on XDA. Every time I try to do with any overclocking kernel, but after some use the phone crashes and restarts.
The processor of the nexus s does not support overclocks?
FYI over clocking does cause your phone to restart or crash

Yeah ... My i9023 also can handle 1200 with matrix without raising voltages and with no reboot whatsoever .
Unfortunately for us (and really nice for him, because he moved to N4 ) .. The matrix is discontinued..
Ps: check out the kernel in the hellybean thread . it has live oc working as well.

For some reason my phone (also i9023) can only handle 1320mhz OC.
Other steps (1200, 1400, 1096, etc..) cause reboots.
Try using matrix cfs then OC to 1320mhz.
Or marmite 7.2.1, increase all voltages by +25mv then OC to 1320mhz.

Please point me to the Nexus S discontinuing..
My phone easily handles 1200mhz... 1320mhz works well too but under heavy load I'll get a reboot... 1400mhz def needs raised voltages... I've clocked that high before but I don't think the phone runs as smooth at that setting... Might be too much for the processor... This was using various kernels... Currently on Matr1x CFS 24.0 cm @ 1200mhz running fine!

Same with my i9023, 1320mhz works great on my setup of CM 10,1, Matrix 7.2.3 kernel. Stock voltages.
I've been trying for a long time to find truly stable voltages for either 1096 (marmite) or 1200 (air kernel), but irrespective of my mVs I can never get beyond two days of uptime before I experience a freeze. All overclocks seem to work at the default volts set by each developer but there's this latent instability I can't do anything about. Starting to think this is just the nature of the beast and very few NS users actually have CPUs capable of long-term OC stability.
Still, a few extra FPS in the launcher and a slightly smoother Temple Run probably don't justify an OC anyway.
i use marmite overclock 1-2 days ...all ok here
I can run [email protected] for as long as I want. Even 1320 with 25 volts increased. Never had issues.
Sent from my Nexus S
Well dang.
Maybe I just have an anaemic ARM chip.
That being said, I've really only ever experienced the symptoms of an unstable overclock when my battery's been close to empty. I suppose that might cause the voltage to dip and my phone to freeze. Might try 1096 again using 7.3.

Yesterday I've overclocked CPU to 1100mHz on marmite_8.5 kernel and got score around 3850 but forgot to take a SS :/
Today, I flashed Air_Kernel_Weekly_r341_JBN_BlueColor_CM, overclocked CPU to 1200mHz and then made the test again. Results in first ss. After that I was courious what are the results for normal CPU frequency. So the results for the same kernel, running at 1000mHz are in the second screenshot.
So the best results were using Air kernel with overclocked CPU. When CPU wasn't overclocked the best results were with latest marmite kernel.
so, I urge CM10.1 users to post their results and that way we'll find the best config

On general (my experience) 3200-4000 is pretty normal without overclocking depending on rom/kernel/phone/battery level and temperature.. Two identical phones with the same set up will get different scores. Some mods/tweaks can increase this as well as having a good amount of free ram and no other programs running.
But these are just "fun" tests and not a true assessment of real performance..
With that said, Carbon rom is SOOOO much faster..
Ofcourse But as you've said.. It's fun to test out different combinations and it also feels good when you out do the first score for 1000 points and make your phone as good as some more expensive phone ^^

No matter what rom I've tried, I don't get much over 2k on 3d.. this test I was just a bit under, but still damn good for a Nexus S.. I saw you are trying to improve the graphics in your rom, I hope it works, but I really want a faster load time on apps and less lag in everything else. I have tried your rom, on this test as well, and you came up over 500 points below my score of 5300. I test all roms the same with multiple kernels (stock included as well) and different schedulers/ governors.. but as battery life goes you are towards the top..
